On top of the “Photography and Videography” forum, there should be a sub-forum on top of that for video/photo editing. It should be called like “Photo and Video Editing.” It would be a great improvement for the photo/video editing community that is on this forum.

Budget: $1000-$1500 USD, but willing to go higher if I must. Location: Utah, USA Software: AutoCAD --- I mainly work in 2D for editing large floor plans, rack elevations, and wiring diagrams, but my web-based theater design software (The Cinema Designer) occasionally requires me to open up and work with 3D files using AutoCAD. Microsoft Visio (desktop) D-Tools System Integrator (desktop) Adobe Illustrator Adobe Photoshop Adobe Premiere Pro (on rare occasions) Adobe Audition (on rare occasions) Modus VR * * I don't plan on running Modus VR for at least a year or two. It's residential and commercial 3D rendering focused on AV systems. All they recommend on their website is to get a good "gaming" computer and a VR headset. Probably high CPU clock, single-threaded, with a decent GPU, but for now I'm fine keeping the GPU as minimal as required for AutoCAD. Pre-Built or Custom: I don't necessarily care whether it's a pre-built or a custom build I assemble myself, but I'd like to get this thing up and running within 15-24 days at most. I've never built a PC before, but if the overall price and shipping time is drastically better, and if warranties on the most important parts are excellent, I'll totally do it. Other Hardware: I have two LG UltraFine 4K displays and a Thunderbolt 4 NAS hooked up via my Anker Thunderbolt 4 dock. I tried the online configurator from XoticPC, but the only Thunderbolt 4 option required the Asus ProArt Creator motherboard which seemed really expensive. I've read online that a Thunderbolt 4 card is much cheaper, but I've also read that those cards don't always work reliably, and the set up documentation leaves a lot to be desired. I figured I'd see what people here recommended. Maybe I'll have to skip Thunderbolt 4 altogether and downgrade to USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 which means replacing my dock, lol. I don't care if it's AMD or Intel.

Budget (including currency): 350-400€ (with a bit of leeway Country: Germany Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Mainly Photoshop and Illustrator (Adobe Suite) Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Current Build CPU: Ryzen 5 2600 Motherboard: Gigabyte B450M Gaming (F41 BIOS) RAM: DDR4 2x8GB 2133 MT/s (models unknown, most likely G.Skill) GPU: NVIDIA GTX 1660 Ti I am upgrading this system for a friend of mine, but I am not well-versed with Photoshop and Illustrator. The problems experienced are very slow loads and also major lags while using the programs - essentially making them unusable. My idea would have been to definitely upgrade the CPU and the RAM to something like the Ryzen 7 5700 (X) and 32GB of at least 3200 MT/s RAM. IIRC, GPU isn't the biggest deciding factor when using the mentioned programs, am I correct? Would be interesting to hear other suggestions from people that also work with the programs

Hello y'all, System admin here trying to understand better if there's a hardware solution to various small problems my organization faces. Most of these problems involve Adobe Indesign and Photoshop and are customer induced, where we'll receive raster type images that also scale poorly or deal with customers who don't clean up the files they send us, requiring a lot of work on the side of our Graphic Designers. I've seen that Nvidia has added RTX type features to Adobe Creative Cloud, but it seems limited. Most of our Adobe Creative Cloud users are on macOS M1 machines due to personal preference, but still have to process some things through Windows VMs. I think it would be easy to convert that machine to a physical one with an RTX capable GPU if worth it (and free up cluster resources). Pro Tip #26 – Accelerate Adobe Creative Cloud with NVIDIA RTX GPUs (pny.com) Does anyone have professional experience with using RTX Super Resolution in Photoshop that can speak on its effectiveness? Also, using modern Windows hardware with Adobe Indesign versus macOS? We do have a machine at work that we can use to test it, but it would involve a bit of work to get Adobe Creative Cloud applications running on it. I've been an RTX Super Resolution user on the consumer end since its release, since I run a 4K display. Its noticeable at best, but I could see the feature on image upscaling to be very good.

macOS has a built-in AI Image Remover function on Apple Silicon powered Macs (right click on an image file -> Quick Actions -> Remove background). However, it does a pretty terrible job with hair details. On the other hand, we have the website remove.bg that does a fantastic job of removing backgrounds flawlessly while keeping hair details, but it’s insanely expensive when you have hundreds of images. Is anyone aware of an AI/Machine Learning background remover for Mac with batch processing that has a perpetual license and cost less than $100 USD? Alternatively an annual subscription ≈ 30 dollars? UPDATE: I tried “AI Batch Background Eraser” by Ivan Blayasoft from the Mac App Store but it won’t output an image for some reason?

Budget (including currency): 2500 Euro Country: Sweden Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Clip studio paint, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere, Adobe After Effects Other details: Cintiq, dual 1440p monitors I was wondering if there's some kind of tool where you could weigh hardware against each other using benchmarks for certain software? I am starting to research CPU and GPU for a build and if there already exists a good tool for comparison it feels a little silly to google for hours.

Budget (including currency): 6000 Lei Country: Romania Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Photoshop, Camera RAW, Topaz Photo AI, Luminar AI, Anthropics Portrait Pro Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I am trying to decide on a configuration for a desktop PC that is going to be primarily used for photo editing and I want it to be able to handle the new AI features that have permeated the photo edititng programs recently. I mainly use Photoshop CC2023 including some of the Neural Filters that do local processing (as opposed to the cloud-based ones), frequent use of Object Detection tool along with Luminar AI invoked as a plugin, Topaz AI suite, Anthropics Portrait Pro and Lightroom. I have a budget of around 6000 lei (that is about 1200 US $ +- 200$). Thus far I am undecided between buying a refurbished HP Z4 G4 workstation with the Intel OCTA W-2145 (Skylake) with 32 GB of DDR4 ECC, a 1TB Samsung 980 and the Nvidia RTX 3060 12 GB VRAM (Gigabyte) OR ...building my own custom PC, which as far as I understand would allow me some newer processor like a Ryzen 7 and some cheaper 32 GB RAM and a 3060 Ti in the same budget. I have also considered buying this Lenovo Ideacentre ( https://altex.ro/sistem-desktop-gaming-lenovo-ideacentre-5-17acn7-amd-ryzen-7-5700g-pana-la-4-6ghz-32gb-ssd-1tb-nvidia-geforce-rtx-3060-ti-8gb-free-dos/cpd/CLC90TQ005KRI/ ) that perfectly fits the budget but i am less and less attracted to it given the 500 W power supply and the lack of upgrade options in the future. Some YouTube videos also advise against it claiming the case is very poor quality amongst other stuff. For those who didn't follow the link it's an AMD Ryzen 7 5700G with 32 GB RAM, and an Nvidia 3060 Ti. Thing is, it's been about 14 years since I last built a PC and I'm completely out of the loop with modern hardware and I'm also getting old which I guess contributes to my interest in a pre-built system. Priority number 1 is stability. I am sick of bsod's and spending months of installing and uninstalling drivers. This is the reason why the refurbished HP Z4 g4 is at the moment the most tempting option. I'm using PC's since the nineties and I've spent way too much time playing the role of a technician and IT specialist. I want a PC that I can actually use instead of tinkering with. I also know that Macs are very stable (at least that's what everybody says) but that is not feasible for me and they are also too expensive here in Romania. I don't mind waiting a couple of extra-seconds while programs launch or waiting a bit when applying hardware-intensive filters, but I do require decent performance since I deal with large batches of photos sometimes that I need to process and compatibility with perhaps even more hardware demanding AI features that I'm sure are going to come our way.. How does an older Xeon W-2145 (Skylake 14 nm) stack up against a modern Ryzen 5 or 7 ? Is the difference significant regarding the software that I use ? What config would you recommend for a system to be very stable with tried and tested components that do get along well given the budget and the intended use ? Thanks in advance Hope my English was not too bad.

Budget (including currency): Whatever is worth spending, but not stupid Country: UK Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Topaz AI, Photoshop, Lightroom Other details https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/6yWm6r Friend of mine who does photography asked me about building him a new system as his current one (4690k) is really struggling, and he doesn't know about PCs himself but he knows I've built a few personally. He's pretty set on getting something new as hes had his current system for a good 8 years or so and wants something that can last another 8 years, hence this list possibly being overkill? I don't know a ton about these programs, mostly just going off their minimum/recommended requirements, but if anyone has suggestions on what to change and what these programs benefit from, that'd be appreciated. If we can keep the budget around £1400-1500 that'd be great, he's pretty happy to spend more but only if it's worth the extra. Also if it can all be from amazon that'd be good too cus logistics (having one place to RMA a dead stuff if need be, etc) Edit: forgot to mention he already has a few hard drives that we would simply stick in this system, he has mentioned about getting some more for futureproofing tho but not essential right now, also the case is one I already own from a previous build so we can just reuse it

Budget (including currency): $400-$500 USD Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Filmora video editor, photoshop, lightroom. Other details (Have case NZXT H510, old BFG PSU (550W NOT INSTALLED),): Hi everyone I am new here, I'm 17 and looking to upgrade my 2015 Asus M32CD desktop, specs are: intel core i5-6400 @2.70GHz, 12GB ram, 2GB AMD FirePro GPU, and 1TB hybrid HDD(boot drive) plus more HDDs and an old samsung SSD (128GB). Video editing is slow and choppy even at 1080p and if pushed too hard crashes, In photoshop selecting and masking even small areas takes 20-60 seconds and even longer sometimes, and in lightroom selecting and applying presets can take 1-2 minutes. This is not ideal and I wish for a faster option that can also handle some 4K; not any RAW video just basic 4k from phones and my canon M50. While having these programs open task manager showed CPU 86-100% Ram usage 80-100%, and power consumption was High-very High. I presume that for video editing I need a better CPU and for PS and LR I need more RAM? If y'all don't mind could you help me find the right CPU, RAM, and possibly PSU? My budget is $400-$500USD. I have a NZXT H510 case laying around, a new coolermaster cooler (don't know model number), BFG BFGR550WGXPSU, and all my existing HDDs and SSDs. I suppose I might also need a new motherboard for new CPU. I run Windows 10, and have two 1080p displays with a third when I need it ( in the future I wish to ad a 4K display). I thinks that's all the info. Again I use this for Photoshop, lightroom, and video editing along with simple tasks like documents, YouTube, etc. I originally wanted a laptop but found the price to performance ratio too high (the Dell XPS 15 lives only in my dreams). This is not a gaming PC the only thing I play on it is the 2005 Star Wars Battlefront. I will be using this for work as a Head Media Director at my local summer camp as well as personal photo/video projects. P.S. I also use an old alpha networking adapter for wifi and wish to upgrade in the future. Thanks you

I have an old Radeon HD 6790 with no DirectX support, but because i had previously installed an RX580 in my PC(wich has nothing todo with my Question). When i run Programms like Photoshop or Forza Horizon 4 on my PC it says on Forza "Thanks for Purchasing Forza Horizon 4, we are sorry to tell you that your PC has no graphics card that supports DirectX12 and in Photoshop it just says: "You can´t continue cause of a Program error", but it worked on my RX580, is there any way to still use Photoshop or to Emulate DirectX12 on my old Graphics Card(cause my RX580 broke), i really need Photoshop and i can´t work without it, in the meanwhile i use Gimp. P.S. I have Photoshop 2021 with the newest update. Systemspecks are as Following: CPU:AMD Ryzen 7 2700X Graphics Card: Sapphire Radeon HD 6790 RAM:Corsair Vengance 16GB(Two 8 GB sticks) 3066MHz Mainboard:Gigabyte B450M DS3H V2 CPU-Z/GPU-Z info is attached

Hey guys, so I'm fairly new to this part of the internet, and I want to buy a laptop that can run ProTools, Logic Pro, Lightroom, Photoshop, and Final Cut Pro. I am currently operating on a school chromebook and do not have access to any of the above mentioned programs at home, only on school equipment. my audio engineering teacher strongly recommended buying a macbook, and think this is a fine idea, however, I am having a very hard time finding one that has the minimum specs at my price point, I have about $800 saved up for a laptop, and I just found a refurbished 2017 macbook pro with an intel core i7, 16gb ram, and 512gb storage. It seems to fit all my criteria, its only $770. Is there anything I should know before making this purchase? I trust the seller, have gotten excellent refurbished stuff from them before. I don't really care about having an awesome laptop, I just want some thing that can run the things I want to learn how to use. Thanks guys!

Ok, this photoshop is like the bare minimum, but it gets the job done I guess. THE PROS Super light-weight, and since that the thumbnails I make, it gets the job done pretty well. But, this photoshop editor kinda sucks. But I have no money, so I guess it’s fine THE CONS Ok, too many to be honest. There are ADS in the FREE version. They promote their “premium” version way too much. Half of the things that are crucial to photo editors, are paywalled, and it doesn’t have custom resolution/aspect ratio. Dude, this editor is worse than Picsart. PICSART. CONCLUSION I don’t know why I still use this. Hey, at least it’s free! Phototastic Collage Review: 5.5/10. The lowest rating I’ve given something I’ve reviewed.

My main rig is used mainly for photography work and some CAD work (I'm an engineer but mostly use this for personal stuff), I DO NOT use it for gaming (haters gonna hate). I built my PC a couple of years back and the spec isn't top end, but it was good at the time and was one of the best for single thread processing (as that was where photoshop got the most benefit). - i7 7700K OC to ~5gHz Watercooled AiO (may get upgraded later) - Asus RoG Maximus IX Code Motherboard - 32GB Corsair Vengeance DDR4 3000MHz CL15 - 2TB Sabrent Rocket NVME 4 - 3TBx2 Raid Drives + another 16TB on TrueNAS server (just built :-p) - Gigabyte GTX1070 windforce OCii 8GB DDR5 Driving 2x 27" Benq 4k Monitors I would like to transfer that Graphics card to another system and get something better suited to what I use this one for, my Camera is a Canon 5DS with 50Mp sensor so pretty big files, especially when you're stacking images. Some of my CAD workalthough mostly hobby stuff can get pretty big and complex, though I don't do a lot of "photo realistic" rendering i certainly do work in 3D almost entirely. So working to a budget of £400 (about $550?) what is going to be my best banng for buck performance? 1. Keep the GTX1070 because in that budget, not much else will give more performace and get something budget friendly for my other rig (which is going to be used mostly for streaming and some video decoding)? 2. Get a Quadro K5000 and a Tesla K80 or something similar for the VRAM? (about £300-400 total possible) 3. Get a slightly higher end GPU (NVidia or AMD?) than the GTX1070, but will it give me much more performance? 4. Stretch the budget a little to get???????? Help, advice, comments welcome Steve

So, I have switched over from the garbage dump of Phototasic Collage, to a better one named Canva. Let me tell you, it is great. Way better UI than Phototastic Collage. THE PROS There’s no need for an app, it’s all on the browser. That is a big one because I don’t want to get a beautiful scam of a photo editor. It’s light-weight, it’s easy, there are many options for the type of photos you want. You can pick from a flyer to a YouTube thumbnail. It gives so many options! Also, the biggest thing for me, is no ads on the free version! It’s just great. THE CONS Not a lot, but there are some, like that some features are paywalled and that there IS a “premium” version. I know these companies have to make their money somehow, but I mean, at least it’s not shoved down my face! CONCLUSION This was a very small review, but it is because, it is a simple photo editor. There’s not much else to say. Canva Photo Editor Rating: 9/10. It’s simple and easy, and that’s what I need.

Hey all, I'm currently running a Ryzen 7 1700 stock with Gigabyte AB350M Gaming 3 since 2017. I think it's time for an upgrade! I'm a gamer and also work as a video editor and photo editor (If I got an order/commission). I use premiere, after effects, and photoshop mainly, also affinity designer sometimes. I want someone to bust the myth for me right here right now. If I tried searching for "i5 10600k vs i9 10850k video editing" It will just show up a bunch of rendering time benchmarks which I couldn't care less for. I want to know how much different are they in the terms of "Editing/Working Experience". Like I said, I couldn't care less about rendering time, I just want the editing/working process to be stutter free, lag free, previews faster and all (Editing while being laggy or super heavy is stressful I tell ya). If they aren't that much different in the terms of "editing experience", I'll save the money and take the i5, with the price of the i9, I can get two 10600k honestly. I even read that previews while editing are being done by GPU, not CPU. Well in the terms of gaming, the 10600k can definitely go toe-to-toe with the i9 in 1080p. (I'm running 1080p 144hz). Also, I would most likely get the MSI MAG B460M Mortar as my motherboard (I've read good VRM temperatures about it, and I don't plan on overclocking, I've seen benchmarks of overclocked 10600k and stock, honestly not that much different.) Otherwise, the other one would be Asus Prime Z490-P, should I even get that?

Budget (including currency): ~1500 EUR Country: Latvia (Europe) Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Adobe Premiere, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Animate Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Some guidance would be much appreciated. Upgrading from: CPU: Intel I7 7700K MB: Asus Prime H270-PLUS RAM: Kingston HyperX DDR4-2666 32GB (4x8) Parts, that I am keeping: GPU: Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2080 GDDR6 8GB SSD: Samsung 960 PRO 512GB M.2 Sound Card: SoundBlaster Z Case: Thermaltake Core V71 PSU: Hydro G 750W (I am guessing I should be upgrading?) Storage: A bunch of 2TB and 4TB drives. Parts that I have chosen and think would go well together, but this is where I need some help: CPU: AMD Ryzen 9500x CPU cooling: Asus ROG Ryujin (I know I can't fit it in the front of my case, because of the HDD rack that is there, but maybe I can fit it on the top, but I am not advanced enough to figure that out) MB: Asus TUF Gaming x570-PRO SSD: Samsung 970 EVO Plus 1TB M.2 RAM: G.Skill Trident Z Neo series, DDR4-3600, CL18 - 32GB Dual Kit (planning on adding another kit down the road) I do not want to cheap out on crucial parts, I want things to last for a while. I got the GPU a year or probably more ago, but the CPU is...well, what it is. It has served me well, but recently working has become a bit slow, probably due to weird updates from Adobe, because otherwise the system is running really well. Any help would be much appreciated.
