So after a week with my new rig ive dicided to start OC my bad boy called the Ryzen 5 3600x! And here is my end results based on personal needs and stuffs (mostly gaming on this bad boy): Ive managed to boost up the clock speed from 3.8 to 4.275GHz on 1.3V, 65C max on full load! Now ive tried to push up for 4.3GHz but that is achivable only when I set the voltage to 1.4V, that makes my CPU pretty toasty at really heavy load tasks (max temps went 85 at times, yikes!). All of my stress tests and oc tweaking was made with Ryzen Master and RealBench. Im using alonside my cpu a RTX2080 Super and Stix LC360 AiO! I would like to hear some of your opinions when it comes to OC the 3600X, and please share you personal OC setups if you have some!

So, learning a bit about overclocking, and so far I think I'm only scratching the surface. Also doesn't help that I'm trying it with a mini-ITX that already tends to hit 85°C or more in IntelBurnTest when the room temperature is high. (Looking at getting a different cooler, though, might be the tight space.) Anyway, a seemingly important but often overlooked part of overclocking appears to be LLC or Load-Line Calibration. I read it commonly has steps between 0% and 100% and that 100% let's the system have free reign to adjust power to prevent overheating but can introduce instability with higher overclocks, correct? Now... On my motherboard (specs in signature)... It's in levels... Nine of them. So, this confuses me as I wonder what each level represents, might it be like 9 for 90% or is the percentage divided by nine levels so 9 is 100% and 8 is 88.88%? Hope someone can clear this up and darn motherboard manufacturers, stop confusing us with your fancy changes and stuff...

Right, I recently bought a Ryzen 7 1700 with an Asus Prime X370 Pro and i'm overlocking for the first time. For now I have the stock AMD wraith spire cooler, but I do intend to get a Noctua cooler soon. So i watched some guides, and managed to get a stable overlock of 3.8hgz with a CPU voltage of 1.33 volts. (I don't dare go any more than 3.8 until i get a better cooler) I ran cinebench a few times and it seems to hit a really high temperature of 82 degrees celsius. Now this seems really high, but am I right in saying that not many applications such as games or rendering programs would ever use 100% of the CPU like Cinebench does, and thus 82 degrees celsius is actually rather safe for Cinebench? I just want to be sure, as this is my first time overlocking. i'd probaly try and hit 4.0ghz when i get a better cooler. Thanks for helping a first timer.

I'm thinking about getting an AMD Ryzen 7 1700 CPU, with an ASUS PRIME X370-PRO motherboard. Now i'm a bit confused with the whole ram thing. So I would like to get a duel 2 x 8gb kit, with a 3200 mhz speed. From the research i've done already it seems that ram that is advertised as 3200mhz is an overclock. And that in order to get 3200mhz working, you either have to choose a profile on the bios or manually enter values. Otherwise it would run at a lower speed than the full 3200mhz. Is this correct? I also heard you should find the motherboards QVL, (Qualified Vendor List) to get ram that has been tested for that motherboard, to reduce the chance of any issues. However the motherboard I linked, i can't seem to find any QVL on the product page. Where would I find this QVL list? I want to be sure before I buy ram because i've heard of people that have had isssues getting to 3200mhz on the Ryzen platform. And if theres anything else I should know please let me know. Thanks, GR412.

Hey guys! I wish to overclock my i5 6600 Skylake (non K) because I'm getting bottlenecked pretty hard. Below you can check my specs: Motherboard: Asus Z170M-PLUS/BR Graphics: Gigabyte GTX 1070 G1 Gaming (8GB) Memory: HyperX Fury 8GB (2x4GB) 2133 MHz DDR4 Power Supply: Corsair CX-600W CPU Cooler: Something like the Coolermaster Hyper 212 Do you guys think it's worth OC'ing? If so, I haven't messed around with OC a lot. I would really appreciate links to guides showing how to do it.

Hi everyone, I recently delidded my 7820X and replaced the thermal compound with liquid metal. I am able to get 4.9GHz stable on all cores with max temps of 80C on a custom loop. Vcore at 1.330v, VCCin at 2.1v (I will turn this down once my OC is dialled in), and VCCio, VCCsa and mesh I haven't touched yet. My question is, what's the maximum safe Vcore voltage for Skylake-X? (If I want the CPU to last at least another year.) I am able to get the occasional Cinebench R15 run at 5.0GHz with a Vcore of 1.35v and temps are still fine. I am so close to stable and I want that 5.0Ghz! But I am scared to push any further without some advice. A follow up question, is it possible to damage a CPU with too much voltage even if temps are well under TjMax? (Eye candy attached for fun.) Thank you, James

HI, so I was wondering if the ASUS Z390-E was a good mid range option. I am going to pair it with the 9700K and I want to oc it to 4.9ghz on all cores. Ive read somewhere that the vrms are trash and that they are 4+2 and not 8 phase or something like that and he said u won't be able to do any overlocking with those vrm's so I need some clarification thanks.

Hi, I have a AOC U2879VF panel. Its 4k at 60hz. Its connected with Display port to my GTX 1080ti. I've got it overclocked to 70hz, however when I push it any higher I start to get artifacts which are lines which appear across the screen intermittently. This becomes evident at 72hz and progressively gets worse. My display accepts refresh rates all the way up to 80hz, maybe even more I haven't tried. Do you think these artifacts are just because the screen can't go any faster or do you think its the cable that might need upgrading? I know low quality cables can often cause display issues. I'd love to hit a stable 75hz. Thanks

I am new to overclocking and what I have done to my new 8700k is on my Gigabyte Aorus Gaming 5 z370 I have a preset of 4.8Ghz and having MCE enabled. I have done some research about MCE that you should just leave this on auto or have it completely turned off. My temps when my CPU is between 2%-6% load is around 35C-50C and it just seems a little too hot than what it should be. Also, I would like to say that I checked in CUP-Z that sometimes my Core Speeds goes between 800Mhz to 4800Mhz is that normal? if any of you are asking for what cooler I have its the Corsair H100iv2. If any of you have suggestions for overclocking then go ahead and type away I will read all of the suggestions being given to me.

Hi everyone. I oc'ed my i7 930 to 4 Ghz on Asus P6X58D-e board. But my Psu (BeQuiet -P4 520W 1.3) don't have 8 pin for cpu, because of that i used only 4 pin power connector. i played cpu intensive games, and stress tested the cpu. Degrees: gaming 60-65 max.,, Stress test: 73-75 max. Idle: 40-45 max. Is it normal? i didn't saw any problems while running games and stress test. And my PC not exploded. My question is: must i change cpu to default settings? or i can use it like that? Sorry for my bad english. system: win 10 asus p6x58d-e core i7 930 8gb ram Psu BeQuiet -P4 520W 1.3 Cooler: be quiet pure rock 150w tdp.

My friend (1) & I built him a new system which he recently upgraded. The original build had a z170 motherboard paired with an i5 7600k. The processor was overclocked. He then swapped out the z170 for a z270 sold the z170 to one of our other friends (2) who then used that z170 to build his own system. Friend (2)'s system ran great for about a month and then all of a sudden it just shut off randomly and couldn't turn back on. We later found that the CPU & Motherboard were fried. I was hoping someone here could confirm or deny the validity of my theory here: Friend (1) had an overclocked processor in the z170 Friend (1) did not reset the board to default before passing it along Friend (2) had a Pentium g4560 in the z170 Is it possible that when the z170 board booted up for the 1st time with the G4560 installed, that for a moment, the board was expecting the overclock-able chip and delivered too much power to the G4560 until it then realized there was a different CPU? Just a bit too much voltage that it didn't fry it immediately but led to the eventual failure of the CPU and, in this case, the motherboard as well. In addition to my original question, when adding a new CPU to a motherboard, how long do the settings in the BIOS stay how they were or do they reset when detecting a new CPU?

I am planning on building a rig. Will be overclocking for the first time. But this rig will cost more than twice as much as anything I've paid for before. I wanted to get a bequiet dark rock 3 or pro 3 to cool my overclocked processors, however it's taking my budget a bud further. Can the Hyper 212 handle these processors if overclocked? If not, can you guys recommend anything in a $30-$60 range that would do the job well. Thanks in advance

I'm setting up my 6700k on a Gigabyte Z170 Gaming 7. I'm trying to run the XTU benchmark, and whether it's at stock or 4.6 GHz with 1.3v, this (see attached) always happens. As far as I'm aware, shouldn't it be about 2$ variation, not 40%? Any help would be appreciated. Don't hesitate to ask for more info!

I have a 6700k Core i7 and I cant seem to get it over 4.4 stable using easy tune on my Gigabye z170x-UD5. I had what I thought was stable at 4.6 but it crashed when trying to do HandBrake encoding. Right now you can see the setting I had. Any recommendations?

Hello everyone! This is my first post here, I've followed Linus on youtube for some time and thought I would make the leap over to the forums for some friendly advice. I have build my first computer and decided to overlock the CPU. I have managed to overclock the CPU from its 3.9Ghz to 4.4Ghz. I have pushed all cores to 4.4Ghz and the power it needed to be stable is 1.31V. I hear if you go over 1.3V you can damage the CPU? In a full stress test back on variable voltage at 4.4Ghz with my coolermaster CPU cooler I only reach temps after a 4 hour stress test of 71 Degrees C. Under full gaming load, "rust on high settings" I average about 50C temps on the CPU, should I take the overlock back some? I can manage 4.2 on all cores and drop the power down to around 1.24V. While none gaming the intel power step keeps it around 0.9V while browsing the net and watching videos. My main question is based on this information, will the 1.31V drastically reduce the life on my CPU? Aslong as I get 2 years im happy, I know its a hard question but does my overlock sound okay to you guys? Regards, Bear

I need help overclocking my CPU, i saw that in the box it says it can archive 5.0Ghz, Is that posible? im a "software" type of Overclocker, Meaning that i use Software inorder to get a really mild overclock (right now im at 4.0Ghz and did it with MSI Command Center) Any tutorial i can follow that could help me with my Motherboard (Because i hear people say that its better to manualclock it and its hard to find the same name of option some people are using). Here is my whole Build Part list: GTX 750 Ti Gaming OC 2GB GDDR5, Fx-8320e 8 core CPU AM3+ Socket OC at 4.0Ghz, MSI 1066 NA 970A SLI KRAIT EDITION Motherboard, Kingston Hyper X Fury 2x8GB (16GB No Dual channel Kit), Corsair Hydro H100i GTX Water Cooler, Corsair Carbide Series Air 540 Case, Corsair RM1000i 1000w. Thanks!

Just a quick question concerning the usage of Corsair h100i while overclocking. If one plans to change the voltage and multiplier, ie - overclock - do you need to switch the h100i profile to Balanced Mode or even higher? Asking because both of those are much louder than Quiet mode (obviously). So why overclock if I'll need to have the cooler make more noise than I'm comfortable with? Do others keep their coolers at faster RPMs just to maintain good temp on the overlocked CPU? Perhaps just overclock this CPU to such an extent that Quiet Mode will keep temperatures below 60 (generally accepted load temp for this CPU)? It's a question I had for a while now ... do people really tolerate the noise just to enjoy the overclock?

Okey, So i was bored that day i thought about doing something cool, so i thought about overclocking my old stupid PC, because i didn't really cared about it so, i got it overclocked at 3.43ghz on the first try with another core unlocked...then i pumped it up to 4.3 GHz and the temps were around 50-70 degrees on stock cooler so, i took my watercooler (dual 120mm rad), from my core i7 4770K and put it into my amd and it was giving out 54 degrees on prime95 test, i am so happy on doing it, but i am debating that should i buy a new water cooler to use it @ that speed? what do u guy's think tell me Ur opinions! Is it Worth Useing that cpu At that speed overclocked? or should i let my dad use it at stock speed?and not buy a new cooler?

Hi i know this topic is already there but i just couldn't find it. i was wondering if someone can give me a guide or tips on overclocking my 780tis. I recently installed my own water cooling loop for my system and would like to know how it is done. As for my system, im running an asus maximus hero vi, an i5-4670, 2x4mb ddr3 menory, and a zotac gtx780Ti oc. they are running SLI mode.
