I've seen tons of videos on people saying use this or that settings I can't find a fine line on what settings to use for recording. There's always different videos with different settings. I understand most of us have different PC's so let me tell you what mine is. GPU: 3060 12gb pc CPU: i5-12400f RAM: 32 GB downloaded(downloaded is a joke) Monitor: 1440p 185hz My streamlabs is setup to record however when replaying my clips they're fine except here and there where FPS clearly went down massively however I don't notice it as I'm gaming.

How do I increase my OBS Base Canvas over 4k?
jhogan93 posted a topic in Programs, Apps and Websites
hey guys! I'm looking into increasing the base canvas on OBS. i currently am rocking a logitech stream cam and its great! but the are times when editing my stream for youtube i want to zoom in on myself cam. but when doing so even at 4k i cant get the full resolution that the camera can output (1080p). so i was thinking i could increase the base canvas so i can get the most out of my setup and just scale everything to frame. im thinking if i can get the base canvas to 8k i should be squared away. but i cant set it above my monitor's resolution. my current specs are: R9 7950x 64gbs ddr5 5600 RX 7900xt im hoping i can find some kind of plugin or mess with the settings but i cant figure it out. thanks guys -
I've been struggling to find affordable PC components lately and could really use some guidance on upgrading my system or even building a completely new PC. I currently run an AMD Ryzen 5 2600 Six-Core processor and a GTX 1660 SUPER graphics card, but I'm unsure if this setup is sufficient for video editing or if I need an upgrade. I'm having trouble locating budget-friendly components, and I'm not sure if my PC's performance is subpar or if there's room for improvement. Do I need to upgrade my CPU, GPU, or both to avoid bottlenecking? Additionally, I'm experiencing some issues with recording, and I'm not sure if it's related to my OBS settings. I generally don't push my game settings to the maximum, ensuring they are playable and the video quality is decent, but in some games, the recording quality still suffers. Can anyone offer advice or point me in the right direction? I'm open to suggestions and appreciate any help. Thanks a bunch!

Here is a link to my YT video, I would like to know why my video has drops in frame rates and what I can do to improve my video FPS quality. Was recorded with OBS, edited and exported with Camtasia Studio and uploaded onto YouTube. I played the game at 144 FPS (in-game settings) and recorded at 144 FPS with OBS all at 1920x1080 resolution. No lag during gameplay and recording, very smooth. All recordings are saved to my C drive which is a really good SSD. The recording was saved as MKV file and remuxed into an MP4 file and then uploaded onto Camtasia editor. In Camtasia editor, I did some editing and exported the video at 4K resolution because if you know YT, you know that YT re-encodes 1080p to terrible bit-rate and it was also exported at 60 FPS which is the max you can set to, and I cranked the quality up to 100% it seemed to do the best for me. The video was exported and rendered as a 4K 60 FPS MP4 file and uploaded to YT. But once uploaded, like fully uploaded, I noticed constant framerate drops that were not present during gameplay + recording and editing. PC specs: AMD Ryzen 5 5600x CPU MSI GeForce RTX 4070 ti GPU Corsair vengeance 2x16 DDR4 ram MSI Mag B550 Tomahawk Mobo 2TB Seagate hard drive 850W gold power supply 1 TB WD black SSD and a sufficient cooling system that never lets my CPU hit even 75 degrees celsius, same with my GPU. PC has solid airflow Windows 10 64bit Monitor is MSI not sure which, but is 1920x1080 res with 144HZ refresh rate. 16:9 aspect ratio Some help identifying the issue and improving the fps quality for my video would be great, thanks.

i have everything setup perfectly but it seems that obs is not picking up my system and game sounds even discord when i set the goxlr to chat. i downloaded the GitHub - GoXLR-on-Linux/goxlr-utility: An unofficial GoXLR App just seeing if this app the one i downloaded its the problem and if there is another one that will work better. if you can suggest a better on that would be great. but this sound problem is really making me scratch my head since i cant find a solution anywhere on the internet and contacted obs in discord and they said that there was an the issue is likely upstream of obs which i don't know what that means. just to not im using easy effects and pavucontrol can someone help me. also before i never even had the goxlr hooked up only my mic and obs never even picked up my desktop audio even without the goxlr so i dont know what the problem is and i am kinda new at Linux please help me

Is there any good way to take the input from a microphone and change it in real time and output the modified audio into OBS for streaming on macOS? I have a 3D-puppet that I control in real time and need to also change my voice. Free is preferred but I'm willing to pay up to 10 USD. If I can control it via the Elgato Steam Deck MK.2 (turn the effect on/off) it also a bonus, but not a must. (MBP M1 Max).

Hey, my friend recently got a elgato hd60s+ but when using it through obs the preview is laggy (not delay or anything just seems to be dropping frames) she's tried different hdmi and usb-c cables (usb-c is 3.0 and plugged into a 3.0 port) but the same issue continues. Any ideas? Or any other program we could try in to see if it's specifically an obs issue? thank you. specs: GTX 970 intel i7 6700 16gb ddr3 ram

I've decided to experiment with Intel Arc for dedicated recording! I bought a Ryzen 9 7900x with terrible onboard encoder with the intent of buying an Arc A380 for dedicated recording. My main GPU is an RTX 2080 Ti. I just installed my A380 and I'm surprised that the only option in OBS that uses it is Quicksync H.264 How can I use Quicksync AV1? Or at least HEVC?

The company I work for is going to try to do a livestream on YouTube. We have good cameras, very powerful computers and a pretty fast and stable fibre internet connection (250 Mbps up/down). However, we were wondering about the resolution and FPS limitations of livestreaming via OBS to YouTube: Can you livestream to YouTube in 4K 25 FPS via OBS? Will people watching be able to watch in 4K in real time, or will the live be 1080p (and only the video after the finished livestream 4K)? Is anyone able to find someone that has livestreamed to YouTube in 4K (WAN Show seems to be 1080p only)? (Bonus questions: Will OBS be mostly demanding on the CPU or GPU?)

HI there, I am having issues with my NDI not being broadcasted over the network and hence the laptop's NDI is not showing up in the desktop's OBS source. I have ran OBS in Admin mode, I have also made sure that OBS can run in Private and Public networks. None of them seem to work and I am not sure what is wrong. When I was following one of the tutorials on setting up NDI, it did work for a bit and I was able to see the name of my laptop's NDI on the desktop as I was selecting the NDI sources, however then it didn't work and was a blank screen, after I refreshed the source of the laptop was gone. I confirmed NDI is working as it is showing up on the laptop and I am able to view the image of it. In case you don't know what I mean by the source, I am talking about this: OBS-Athena does not show up on the desktop and the desktop's one does not show up on the laptops. Can you please help? Thanks, Eli

Hi there, My Steam VR compositor always breaks on my desktop, so I wanted to stream from my laptop and use its 1650 gpu. However, the laptop is not the best and so I want to take the VRChat camera output and push that into my larger PC which can handle the streaming etc. How would I do this? I have a capture device as well on the desktop so I can take the input from the laptop and put it into the OBS that way, but how do I capture the VRChat output specifically? Thanks, Eli

So i bought an RTX 3070 Ti last year and it works for the most part.... however I've noticed recently that in games such as Diablo 4 the GPU goes to 100% usage and the pc will lock up causing D4 to crash. Not sure if that is a D4 issue or a GPU issue. But I stream using OBS as well as Vtube Studio for my Vtuber model. And the last 2 streams i've tried, i get constant PC lock ups and freezing.... Sometimes D4 just crashes, if I play overwatch the Vtuber model lags like crazy and sometimes when the pc locks up OBS tells me the encoder overloaded. My PC is pretty high standard I think.... HEre are the specs.... maybe someone smarter than me can advise me if I have a bottleneck or something happening or if the 3070 ti just cant handle what I am throwing at it.... First and foremost I do use a dual monitor set-up... with my main gaming monitor being a Asus ROG Strix 27 inch HDR 144 hz 4k Monitor .... the second Being a Z-edge 4k IPS monitor, so maybe 4k is too much? Here are the actual system specs. CPU: Intel Core i9-12900k 12th gen 16 core 3.2 ghz GPU: EVGA Geforce rtx 3070 Ti FTW3 Ultra Gaming 8gb GDDR6X Motherboard: Asus Prime z690-p LGA 1700 ATX motherboard (Has a pcie 5.0 slot for the GPU) 64 GB of G-skill DDR5 Ram 1000 Watt Power Supply Curious to see if anyone has any advice here. Thanks.

So my PC's specs are: i3-10100, GT1030, Asus EX-B460M-V5 Mobo, 2x8GB 2400mhz ram and Team MP33 256GB M.2 SSD. I mostly play Rainbow Six Siege at 1366x768 resolution and record it using OBS in 1080p. I want to upgrade to Windows 11 but heard that it's still not that good. I once installed the insider version back in 2021 but reverted to Windows 10 because my fps was dropping in W11 while playing Siege and running 10+ tabs in Chrome and Firefox at the same time. But I am able to do all of this in W10 smoothly. But now I want to go for 11 again and can someone tell me if it's worth it or not because I don't want my performance dropping in 11 just like I experienced in 2021. I am currently using W10 22H2. Also can I upgrade from W11 Media Creation Tool software and if I do that do I have to reinstall my drivers again? Or should I do a clean install (I don't have so much time for that)?

hey guys! my title is a little confusing but let me explain. i am using a logitech streamcam for my twitch streams through obs. i also record my streams for my editor for my youtube channel. my editor has been wanting me to have a separate face cam recording so he can have a higher resolution of my face when zooming in. is there a way to use one webcam for obs and a completely separate video recording software at the same time so i wont need multiple cameras? thank you as always

Hello! I have a problem, when I record on Obs my game has little fps drops which are pretty noticeable. I play on my primary monitor which is 165hz and the obs itself is recording the primary monitor but on my second monitor, which is 60hz. In every game, the fps drops occur. And when I hit stop recording then lags wanish. The file is here: https://obsproject.com/logs/ 9IpVaMzTJTAOACeW Please help me! I have suitable hardware too, TX 3070 ti. Ryzen 5 5600x with 16gb 3200mhz ram.

hey guys, i have been making some form of twitch/ YT content for over 3yrs now. last year i built my new rig upgrading from a R7 2700 W/ 2060 super to a R9 7950X W/ RX7900xt. but the past 3-4 months i have been struggling with my twitch stream quality and my raw streams are on the hefty side to upload to YT. I understand that Nvidia's drivers and Nvenc encoders are much better for what i want to do but Nvidia needs a reality check and im voting with my dollar. here are my settings in obs. for some context i want to play and record my gameplay at 4k for the YT channel but stream it on twitch at 1080p. with these settings i get a fairly "okay" stream but the bit rate and frame rate isnt great for more intense scenes (even on minecraft). so anyone that may be a guru with obs or AMD hardware what should i change? should i just lower my stream to 720p? should i be using some kind of plugin? any and all help is apreciated. thanks!

Hi, I use i5-9400 for web development and it satisfies my needs. However, wanted to start live-streaming on Twitch and the CPU doesn't cut it anymore when I use OBS. Thus, I thought I need to get a decent budget low-profile GPU to fit into my m720s. Currently thinking of buying a GTX 1050ti. Then noticed 1650 in a similar price range. Is 1650 any better for my use case? I also plan to use it for video editing.

I am streaming in facebook live. I have called my internet provider for additional help with my internet speed and they stated that it looks good to them. I do not know what to do at this point. I have attach all the screen shots so that you could help me. Any recommend settings for my streaming is much more appreciated. Thank you in advance. https://obsproject.com/logs/CCM5tK54uBbvK0IY

Hey! so I recently started to stream more often and I noticed a couple things, After nearing the 1 hour and 49 to 55ish mark of streams so far, My bitrate seems to drop really badly. I have this information based off 2 recent streams that I have done. Now It could be that its a coincidence that the duration of the stream pooping itself being so similar on both cases has no impact on why my stream frame drops but I should note both these stream were started around 8PMish and ended due to poor bitrate nearing late nights from 11:30pm to 1:20AM. I have a internet plan of 400MBPS download and 20 Upload and I'm already connected VIA ethernet straight to my modem so I'm getting the most out of it. I always test before streaming to see if I'm getting 20 Upload and It always seems to work fine until it poops itself in the end. I don't know if its a internet plan thing and I'm getting capped or its a software thing or maybe something else. My streams are never Laggy on 1080p 60 no FPS issue since my PC is pretty well put for them but when my bitrate drops I get confused My Specs if needed: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/TCkqFg Not sure why this is the case so If anyone has any solutions to this problem that would be greatly appreciated!! I can provide any info if needed. Here is my OBS Logs if it helps, This LOG was from my most recent stream that ended nearing the 1hr and 49 Mark at around 1:25AM asdasd Here Here the Log of me starting up the stream again trying to see if my Bitrate would fix itself after ending the first time but still the same results, so i ended up stopping again after 5 minutes HERE IS STATS FROM TWITCH INSPECTOR THAT SHOWS TIME AND BITRATE SLOWDOWN IF NEEDED!!

So i have been trying to reduce my performance hit that streaming has while playing games, and i don't want to spend money on a capture card. So i have tried the NDI plugin for OBS ,but i have problem when using NDI and streaming where my ping just tanks. With ndi off and me streaming normally its fine but with both going its very unuseable. So the question i have is there a way to use OBS NDI between my PC and my laptop? ( laptop is where i want to stream and PC where i am playing the game) I believe the problem is with maybe my router being over loaded or something, my PC is using ethernet and the laptop is using wifi. Any help is appreciated i haven't been able to find anything related to my question.

I heard myself finding Obs' virtual cam in Android Studio in an Android emulator for 6 hours, but only my plugged in cam is recognized. How else can I do that, I have this possibility in my head for which I have not found a solution online. I have to try the virtual cam as an applied cam or a real cam. or if someone has another idea please say and no, I have to use the virtual cam from Obs so that I have a screen and cam on the virtual cam. I ask for help! Thank you for the coming comments.
