Hi. My Xonar U7 sounds perfectly clean when just using the line out for headphones, but when I use the mic input, it's extremely noisy. I've tried using an iFi Defender 3.0 because I thought it was a USB ground loop issue, but the noise still persists. For some strange reason, however, whenever I touch the RCA ports at the back (pictured below) the noise goes away very significantly. I guess I act as a "ground" or whatever when I do that. Would love to hear any suggestions! Thanks!

Hey all, Bought a new Corsair H100i RGB Platinum AIO cooler on Amazon the other day and installed it today. Was having a few problems with high very fan speed but managed to rectify it. Read the log of events below if you're interested or encountering similar problems. Plugged it in as per instruction manual. Both fans' power and RGB into the splitters coming out of the Pump, and the USB going to a USB header on the motherboard. Turned on the PC, all was fine until desktop, when both fans ramped right up to 100% and wouldn't go down. In Ryzen Master, CPU was chilly at about 22 degrees. Opened Corsair's iCUE software (I also have a Strafe Keyboard and Void Headset) and on all of the fan control settings, even quiet, it was super noisy, and the RGB was just not sticking to the setting I wanted either. WILD GOOSE CHASE TIME (DO NOT FOLLOW THESE STEPS) Found out by unplugging individual fans from the splitter that the one marked '1' was by far the highest RPM, so got a splitter out and tried to run both off of the non marked plug. Things were okay but not quiet at all, maybe at 1600RPM instead of the 2000+RPM i had from Plug '1'. Messed around for ages with fan curves trying to get it as silent as possible, but it still sounded like a vacuum cleaner even at the quietest I got it. Plugged in the both fans into 1 and unmarked again as per instructions and messed around with the ASUS QFan control in the UEFI. Didn't solve anything. At this point I was so upset with it and thought about sending it back and putting my old CoolerMaster pump-noise-a-tronic 3000 back on. At my wits end, disabled iCUE from Startup Programs. Restarted my PC and it was running really quiet, started iCUE and boom it comes in 100% again. Problem is with iCUE then. Went back into iCUE and was looking through the settings for ages trying to set pump to Extreme, but fans to minimum RPM to try and offset the noise. Tried reinstalling iCUE, and still nothing. And so, the final thing I could think of trying.... THE FIX (DO FOLLOW THIS STEP!): Checked the Firmware in Settings in iCUE. iCUE told me that the firmware was up to date. Then spotted that I could force a firmware update, what is there to lose right? Everything was fixed, just like that. Fans are now running on 500RPM or lower 90% of the time and cooling performance is great. So basically, even if it tells you the firmware is up to date, never trust it and update it yourself. TLDR: Update your firmware in iCUE if you have problems with fans running 100% Thanks for reading Rhys

I bought a PC from AWD-IT which frequently overheated (also didn't come with the specced cooler) so I sent it back. When I did, I had the CPU cooler replaced with a Wraith Prism. I've recently started noticing that the CPU fan sounds like a motorbike engine. I know it's the CPU fan as, when I first booted today, my CPU fan would spin for a few seconds, come to a near-stop then rev up again and the weird sounds seemed to sync with the fan. There is nothing stuck in the fan (I did have this problem upon getting the PC with the new cooler back as some packing paper had got stuck in the fan but that was removed). It's still under warranty, what should I do?

So I bought this laptop almost a year ago and I've noticed that the fans keep spinning even when the system is idle and well it creates an annoying noise. Also doesn't it take away from the battery life ? Please someone help from what I could find on the HP forums, this is a genuine problem with Omen 15s powered by Ryzen CPUs i.e. their fans start spinning when the CPU or GPU hits what like almost 50 degrees which is ridiculous and that creates an irritating noise. There is no way to control this fan noise, please someone help me before I go crazy. I get that the fans would spin If I would be doing some intensive task like gaming or some blender renders or some other CPU or GPU intensive application but even when this thing is idle ! its fans keep spinning. I have disabled "the fans always on" option in BIOS but that doesn't work.

I am new at having an aio water cooling on the cpu. the brand of the aio is cooler master and it is making a very loud noise, like air compressor loud. is that normal or i am just worried over nothing? if that is a problem I have tired to rotate the cooler to allow air bubble out of the pump but that did not work any other suggestions?

And i tell you what, this sound is even more annoying than coil while. It sounds like someone dragging a rock very audibly. Or you might say it sounds like a bubbling noise in a box. My phone only recorded air, but i could hear it from 3 meters away! Probably seek noise? How do i fix it?

I made my own PC Case, built out of wood. It took me about a week, please leave a comment about how I can improve it I'm not sure what to do with the sides, I originally wanted to paint them in light gray, but I'm not too sure about that anymore. I'll treat the inside like the front soon (just add some special oil, don't know the specific words in english but it's for wooden stairs and floor). Maybe I'll do that to the outside too instead of painting it gray. As I said, I'm not too sure about it anymore. And I'll definitly add speaker spikes (when they arrive, fk u DPD ) Link to my album:

Bought a new headset (Virtuoso RBG Wireless) and it has a suttle background noise. i have tested it in both wireless and wired, doesnt change anything. It is the same kind of noise you get, when you plug in speaker boxes and crank the Volume slider up to 100%. if you have that seperate Volume controll, its not a problem, since you can just put Windows Volume at 100% and the Volume on the hardware to lets say 10%. The noise is gone and you still have a controll over the Volume. My old headset was wired and also had a seperate Volime Slider, so noise wasnt a problem. The Viruoso RBG also has a Volume silder, but that one doesnt controll the Volume of the headphone itself, it controlls the windows software Volume slider. Meaning im now stuck with the background noise. Does anyone know a way to deal with this?

My power supply gets noisy when not touching the pc case but when you turn it on, it makes the sound again. is it nearing to the near end or is it very bad power supply. I had some problems when the voltage dropped and computer turned self off to prevent any damage from the power supply. is it time to put it to garbage? it doesn't shut off when underload or when gaming for few hours, just makes this annoying noise. Should i avoid these power supply's. and what power supply i should buy next to have enough power for future upgrades and graphics cards? i attached a picture of the power supply

Morning all hopefully someone will know the answer to this- Received a new computer from Chillblast- https://www.chillblast.com/chillblast-fusion-ryzen-3700x-custom-video-photo-editing-pc.html?category_id=415#product-details-tab-tab1136 happy with everything other than the noise- the CPU cooler seems to be whirring- like its having to speed up every couple of mins- then slowing down again. and repeating over again and again. similar sound to when you first boot. so i downloaded system information viewer- and used it to set fans to 'quiet' (see attached pic), but that doesn't seem to have changed anything, i then went to make a recording to send to chillblast to show them the temps of the CPU which are in the 60's when idle. i pressed record and left it for an hour but it didn't prompt me to save the recording- where is the file saved??? Any help on these matters would be greatly appreciated.

I just upgraded to this PSU and this GTX 1660 Super StormX. I also updated Windows while I was at it. From running Heaven benchmark (see below) and Star Wars Battlefront 2, I've noticed quite a lot of stuttering. My GPU also sounds pretty loud and whiney when it gets up to 65 °C +. I have reinstalled the graphics card driver via DDU, and that seems to have helped somewhat, but I'm still experiencing these issues. Any ideas on what's causing this? Edit: My CPU is Ryzen 3 2200G

Hi everyone, Huge dilemma, I'm currently running a fairly old desktop unit: Asus P5B Motherboard Intel Core Quad Q6600 @2.4GHz AMD Radeon 7800 4GB DDR2 Corsair RM650x : Having had this PC for over a decade, I only had to replace the GPU twice and also added in an SSD. About 6 months ago, I started to have problems turning the unit on, having to press the power button multiple times before it'd actually start. This persisted up to the point when the unit wouldn't start at all anymore, so I replaced the old PSU with the Corsair one. Once replaced, my old desktop revived and I was able to power it up every time with no problems. Soon, the PSU started to became extremely noisy (although advertised as dead silent ) - my bad, couldn't be bothered to dig up the receipt and return the PSU - but more recently it started to suffer of the very same symptoms as the old PSU: it now takes at least 2-3 presses of the power button to power up and I'm worried I might again end up with another dead PSU. My question is, has anyone heard of, say, a faulty motherboard affecting and eventually killing a PSU? I don't believe in this sort of perfect coincidences so I'm thinking there is something else affecting my new PSU. If anyone has any ideas (please, spare the power button being at fault, since after replacing the PSU worked just fine) about what other things could cause this, it would be very much appreciated to have them shared in here. Many thanks

Hi, I've a PSU with a noisy fan. Sometimes the noise disappear if I flip the PSU (fan up) but sometimes I've to put it on the side (vertically) and let it run for some time. It's like the FDB fan HA1225L12F-Z have the fluid stuck on the bottom when it's left turned off for about 1 or 2 days and so it needs to lubrificate again but it won't by letting it run with the PSU fan orientation, also the PSU's usually with the fan DOWN (intake air from outside the case and own airflow). The sound is more noticeable than the usual noise of those Hong Hua fans (the brrrr at low RPMs), there's also that but I don't really care about, it's more annoying the dry sound of the fan spinning... which's like the sound of the current vibrations inside some PSU (coil whine maybe) but isn't the PSU (with a screwdriver I've stopped the fan for some seconds to check if the noise did persist). Do you have any suggestion on what I should do to fix it? I wouldn't RMA if possible right now, also I can't find the same fan on the internet to replace it, but only an ID-COOLING one with the same model number but looks different and has a 3 pin header instead of 2. The PSU's an iTek Taurus GF650 and actually isn't running on a full system but just in test with the PSU-ON pin hooked to one ground of the 24 pin header. In a nutshell: - The PSU's upside down (intake air from outside the case on the bottom). - By moving a bit the PSU sometimes the noise disappear (what?). - I can't find an identical fan but another one similar. - I'm not sure if the warranty's void as I bought it used but not open (package perfectly closed and never used). If you need more info to help just please tell me. Thanks.

When i plug ONE fan directly to syst_fan 1 for exampl,e mobo and bios recognise it. Should i try to plug the fan hub on the syst_fan 1 ? But cable it too short to access it. Also, im having issues with h100i v2, i pluged the usb cable to a usb hub on the bottom of my mobo (msi z370 carbon), and the 2 fans to the cable that goes to the pump. The cable coming out from the pump (3pins one), i plugged it in the CPU_FAN 1. PLease note that this seems to run at 100%, and bios wont recognize it (says 0rpm as well as case fans). PLease note that in the BIOS, i've set the cpu fan as DC with smart mode (as its only a 3pins cable??), the pump 1 as PWM and all case fans as DC smart mode. Last thing you need to know is that the water cooling is extremely noisy, which makes me think its running on 100% speed. I cant change anything as all the fans (case + water cooling) are not even recognised by any softwares. So i have few questions : 1) Where do i plug in the case hub ? Now its on sys_fan 4, working fine, but mobo dont read it. 2) Should i plug in every case fans separately from the case hub, so directly on the mobo, into the syst_fan 1, syst_fan 2... -> 4 ? 3) I pluged the corsair h100i v2 USB cable in a usb port called JUSB2 on the bottom of my mobo. Is it correct ? 4) I pluged the corsair h100i v2 power cable (coming out of the pump) to the CPU_FAN 1 on my mobo. Is it correct ? Also, the 2 fans from the cooler on the cable that comes out from the pump. Is it correct ? 5) In the BIOS, how should i set the fans ? DC or PWM mode ? Smart or normal ? I read that on 3 pins (like the cooler power), its on DC mode only. REMIND : atm, none of the fans are read by the mobo and bios, 0 rpms on all, h100i v2 fans being extremely noisy. Help a lost man. i can reward the one finding solution for me.

So basically, I have a GTX 760 and an AMD Fx 8300, with a standard heat sink along with 3 corsair fans, that are claimed to be silent, at 19dba noise level. However, my PC is extremely loud, louder than any PC I have heard anywhere. It literally can be heard far outside my room and clearly is a problem. I can't even play an online game without somebody telling me that my $80 sounds like shit because of the background noise. I want my PC to be as quiet as possible. Can anyone help/give me tips? Thanks.

Hey. So my Seasonic S12II-620 arrived today and all seemed well and well I mean kinda seems well. My problem with it is, I am 100% sure that it has enough watts as previously I was running a 500w EVGA PSU without a problem. Now my problem with this one is, under no load like Google Chrome and maybe like some light stuff like watching Twitch streams or Youtube videos, it's all good, quiet, how I'd expect a PSU. However as soon as I launch a game, even god damn CSGO the thing sounds like an airplane and is by far the loudest thing in my case, and also generates the most heat. The heat it creates also spreads it up to my GPU, raising it to temperatures like 65'C which I know are normal, however it never hits those temperatures, 55'C max perhaps in like CSGO definitely. Sound = Oh and yes, the main really loud air noise you head is the PSU, not the small coil whining coming from GPU http://vocaroo.com/i/s1A5XmOWfVa8 This is right next to the PSU with side panel open. Then I move away from the PSU, however honestly this recording does not do it justice, it is WAY louder than that when I sit down on my chair. Recorded with a phone so figures. Hello! I would like some honest opinions about this little issue. In a performing arts auditorium, silence is key. Especially if you are in a booth far away from the stage and audience. The hall was build somewhere around 2005-2006. It had the original computer in there until last year, when a new server was put in. Why a server? "We need something super reliable and fail proof." My boss says. The school district had one that they were going to throw out so it was installed here. One problem. IT'S SO LOUD. Mr. Boss built a box around with baffles around the 3 PSUs. Guess what? Most of the sound comes out of the front where the hard drives go. Just tell him to get rid of it! That's the thing. He insists on having it, to play with audacity and a sound cue program from 2006. The hardest work this thing does, is playing YouTube videos. The noise is a problem because when you try to listen to something, it's there. When you are tying to EQ something, it's there. When you try to listen to someone shouting at you because the hall is so big, it's there. and many other unlimited reasons in a professional setting. He just will not even move it away. I asked him several times why he doesn't spend $600 to build a near silent computer with about the same power, but he's got to have a SERVER because the name sounds way better. You can hear this jet in the entire hall as well. Think of this; you own a professional recording studio, and your computer dies. Instead of buying something sensible, you buy the loudest computer you can. Your recording studio sucks now. So what i would like, is your honest opinions on what should be done. I've included a Straw Poll of some possible options. http://strawpoll.me/7346495

I have recently upgraded to the corsair carbide spec-01 case and honestly, for a budget build its the nicest looking and the nicest for upgrades etc... But for some reason, mine makes an annoying vibrating noise, it stays for like a couple minutes and then it goes again. I have the desktop on my desk because i bang it under my desk and i dont want to ruin the case. Any ideas as to what could be causing the annoying noise?

So I'm looking for some advice regarding a Harddrive I've had for a while. It's a WD Blue 1TB drive that I currently use almost exclusively as my downloads folder. (I have a lot of downloads, okay. It's mostly not porn.) From the moment I first fired it up, I thought for sure something was wrong, as it makes the single most horrible noise I've ever heard this computer make, a buzzing that is not only loud, but oscillates in pitch up and down, making that much harder to tune out. It also seems to be the perfect tone required to penetrate every pair of headphones I own, and to be very audible even over my 5.1 surround sound setup. Now when I first got the drive, I immediately tested it to see if there was something wrong, checking for errors and what not with a few services recommended on various forums/subreddits, and it was tested again after about a year of use, with similar results. The drive is entirely healthy, plenty fast, I've had zero issues with it except this horrendous noise it makes. I have, btw, narrowed it down to this one specific drive, as I have run the system without it to confirm the noise disappears. My other two harddrives are a 1TB Barracuda (my games/programs drive) and a 3TB WD Green (my movies/TV shows/music drive) and those are virtually silent, I can only hear them with the side panel off and my ear next to the drive cage. The WD Blue, however can be heard before I even enter my room, happily buzzing away and ruining my day. The only good news I have is that when I have the funds, I will be consolidating my Games and Downloads drives into a single 4 or 5 TB WD Black, but until then, I don't have enough drive space to take this thing out of my rig, so I'm hoping you kind folks might have some ideas on how to quiet this little bastard. TL;DR: I have a drive that is entirely healthy and functional, but noisy as hell. Help me fix it, please. Video for evidence of the buzzing. Warning, potato quality video due to potato quality phone:

hey everyone! So I got a h100i GTX a few days ago, along with my new h440 I am super happy with the cooling, it does an amazing job keeping my fx 8320 cool. My idle temps are under 40 C. so I know what it is displaying is inaccurate but it typically shows between 25-35 C. Anyhow my only gripe with the h100i is how noisy it is. I set the fans and pump to quiet mode which doesnt seem to do anything? It seems to ramp down the fans and pump when it feels like it and then its super quiet. but most of the time I can hear it stupidly loud even with my hyperx cloud headset on! Im just wondering if there is a way to make it quieter? I dont mind sacrificing a little cooling since my cores barely go over 45 under every day load.. prime95 only puts them up to about 57 or so.. Thanks Oxygen Edit: Corsair link has been glitchy with me too, I have to restart the software to get it to change things.. as example to change the LED color I have to change the sliders, then exit out of link completely and then start it again for the LED's to change color

So I've had my PS4 over a year now and it's been pretty loud since I got it, more than what I would expect is acceptable for a living room device, but I figured consoles are shit and that's what I'll have to deal with when playing PS4 exclusives. But it seems to have gotten much worse, I was playing Until Dawn for about 30mins or so and it sounded like it was going to take off! Looking on the net it seems like it's a big problem but also very hit or miss. Some people report their PS4 is as silent as a mouse even under load, others say the problem developed over time, other say they've had the issue from the beginning and had it exchanged under warranty, and the new one was just as bad. A few people have said opening it up and replacing the thermal paste solved the issue and others say replacing the thermal paste made not difference. Anyone had this problem, what do you suggest? The company that handles the Warranty in my country will replace the console even if it's out of warranty for half the price of a new one, and the new one I get will have a 3 month warranty but they assure me it will be a new device so if it as noisy as the old one I can swap it out again, but obviously like to avoid that...

Hello, I have hooked up the GPU fans of my R9 290 trix to my motherboard as I wanted to get quieter idles ( hopefully switching off the fans at idle ) , I have hooked them up but the minimum RPM is still too high ( 1500RPM ) Is there a simple way to lower the speed ? Undervolting and still using pwm ? I tried a 12->7v adapter , but it got very hot and didn't help.

Hello, I recently got my H220 back from swiftech , just put it in my system to find it being UNBEARABLY noisy . I plugged it in a PWM header on my X99s SLI PLUS , and bought it to it's lowest RPM ( 1680-1720 rpm ) . At these speeds , it's acceptable ( equivalent or a bit noisier than my H55 and liqtech 240) , but not silent like the reviews state , but it's the fact that as soon as I go above 25% , it becomes very loud with a whiny sound ( 50 , 75 and 100% ) Running it at 25% is fine for the moment , but I have a 360mm rad and a R9 290 block coming and I doubt 1700 rpm will be enough . Does this sound like a defect ( a nother rma would really be a pain ) ? Is it normal that at 50% ( 2200rpm ) it's really noisy with a small "brrr" noise from the pump ? thanks
