I am having an issue with my network where my 100 mbps network throttles to 8 mbps average and the worst case is that upload speed dips to 0.2 mbps. This issue happens whenever I run cpu or gpu heavy softwares like solidworks, ansys, adobe and even offline games. Speed obtained during normal cpu or gpu usage: Speed obtained during heavy cpu or gpu usage: In dire need of help for solving this weird problem.

My wireless network adapter seems to be working weirdly recently. This started happing about a week or two ago. I've had my laptop for six months. Every time I open file explorer or open a context menu my internet goes down for a few seconds. I've looked on the internet and only one result came up with my exact problem, but the forum thread was inactive. I've tried using ethernet and that worked, but my router is in an inconvenient place. Any help? As you can see, after right clicking, my network stops working for a few seconds.

Hi there! So yesterday I installed Arch Linux with KDE on an old computer and also in a virtual machine (VirtualBox). Both installations seem to work fine and I can use them regularly. But there was one issue (on both installations): Many websites won't load. I can't even ping them. Websites like Youtube, Google, etc. work fine. But other ones like Reddit, Twitter, Github are just unable to load. Because of that I also can't install specific packages and apps. What should I do to fix the issue? Thanks in advance.

Hey all. I don't know if this is the right place to ask this, but I could really need some help. My GF loves playing Planet Zoo in Franchise mode. But after we moved to a new apartment, the game keeps losing the connection to the server once every 5-10 min. I've done a ping test to google.com with 1000, 600 byte's packages send, and no package lose what so ever. I've reset the router twice, to no avail. Is there anybody that good some idea of what I could do to fix this issue, or at least and alternative to diagnose the issue? Thanks.

I'm getting really frustrated with this issue. I have been doing some googling, but I think I need more help in actually troubleshooting/narrowing down my issue here... Let me explain. I had a USB WiFi adapter fail on me a few months back and decided, while I was getting a new one, to splurge a bit and get a PCIe adapter instead of a USB one. I figured I might be able to get better and more consistent speeds out of it. It seemed to work fine for a few months until I was suddenly getting a TON of lag spikes and packet loss in online games (I noticed it particularly in Apex). I originally thought it was my ISP because coincedentally they were having network issues that were affecting customers with the modem HW ver I had. I had a sibling in another apartment down the road experienceing drops in connection at the same time as me, etc. SO there was definitely an issue there. Cool, cool. Got a new modem and figured it out, time to game. Yet the issue remained. No more drops in connection, but the lag spikes and packet loss remained. I just happened to plug in ethernet to see if that affected anything and voila... No more lag spikes/packetloss. So I figured maybe the card I had got had died on me it's relatively close to my GPU in my case, and I game pretty often. Maybe it had abunch of hot air blown on it and it got a bit cooked. It was a cheap TPlink card. Fast forward a bit, I have been running a long Ethernet cable all across my living room and saving up for a new PCIe card. Finally, I had saved up some more money and got myself a slightly more expensive "Gigabyte GC-Wbax200" and figured this would solve my issue. Install it, and now I have been tinkering with windows settings and scouring Google all day. I cant figure this out. The same ping spikes and packet loss seems to be there. So it must not have been the card before... But my problem is not having any experience with PCIe cards, and not having much experience in troubleshooting network issues (I have been lucky enough to not really have them until now). What should be my first step? I have been pinging an IP in cmd with "-t" (for example "ping 8.8.8.8 -t") and watching the time while I tinker with vcarious settings. Nothing has affected it. The time to make a trip jumps every few seconds (5 or so?) from 23ms to 600+ms . It's driving me insane. Most of the help threads I find on google have similar posts of "try turning off power management" or "I fixed by reinstalling windows" (which I am trying to avoid) if there are any solutions at all... Here's a shot from my cmd: The only thing I can think of (and I don't really know much, so this could be crazy) is since it's PCIe... could my GPU be throttling it and taking too much PCIe bandwidth? Streaming videos and stuff online (for the most part) seems fine. I only REALLY notice it while gaming (when the GPU would be most active). Edit: More info I have just discovered... My apartment complex has 2 modems/routers in it... Our complex buys in bulk from Spectrum and includes it in our lease. It's a slower speed than I would like though and so I opt to pay more monthly (on top of whats included in my rent) for a second line at a higher speed. This is what I have been using and getting these issues with ping on. Just on a hunch I tried connecting to the other modem/router and now, while pinging 8.8.8.8 in CMD I am getting no spikes. The modems are directly next to each other, so I don't think its a location thing... But somehow it might be related to the modem?

So this is pretty much unfixable for me. I've got a Dlink DIR-615 and Dlink DIR-890L and a Cisco modem DPQ3925 the problem is that when I sometimes I try to go on to a site and it won't load. So I have to switch router connections and than the site will load, it basically happens every 10-20 mins until I have to change. I've changed the DNS to be different on both of them and I'm lost now I don't know what to do. But the exception sometimes is when I'm using my rig and the internet is fine but it's when my family is using tablets or phones.

I have the OnePlus 7Pro 5g on a Sprint plan in the US. A week ago I noticed my phone having issues using mobile data. Speedtest.net readings always fell between .01-.2 and sometimes up to 5mbps if I am lucky. Sprint did a speed test for me from their end and it read about 5 as well. No matter the settings adjusted or the phone being reset, nothing seemed to fix the connection issues. Employees both at the repair center and the store clerks couldn't fix the problem. I had the phone replaced with another model assuming the issue was with the network antenna inside the phone. However, the new phone is showing the same exact readings. It's still having mobile data issues. Note: The phone shows full bars LTE and even 5G when in the city. Any thoughts? Thanks

Hello, I saw a Linus video on YouTube recently about windows 10 computers and how they set their time. As I have been having issues recently with my own computers time and no one else has been able to do anything about it, I thought I might as well try here. So when ever I try to set my windows 10 machine to "set time automatically" it jumps my time about 12 hours forward than my actual EST time. It also automatically set my time zone to Beijing, China, even though I live in the south east United States, and have never taken my computer out of country. I believe it is doing this due to a network issue, as the same problem has happened to every other windows 10 device that connects to this internet. We tried replacing the router, but the replacement does the same thing. What I guess I'm asking is does anyone know how to make my computer realise that it is not actually in China, because when I access certain sites, like my online school for example, it thinks I'm 12 hours ahead and I lose my chance to submit my papers. I have my time set manually now, but the network seems to affect where websites think I am. I realise I started rambling a bit in this post, so if there is anything you need me to clear up, I would be more than happy to. Thank you for any help.

I've made this thread before and thought that having task manager open caused this...it doesn't. Something is messing with my PC when I download something (no matter how big, 100 MB, 1 GB, couple of GBs...) over a browser or Qbittorrent, antivirus updating and browsing doesn't seem to be the issue. If I turn off WiFi, my adapter will still be blinking even though Windows says that WiFi is off. When I open task manager, it seems normal (all the icons load up) except it doesn't receive any readings (CPU, memory and disk usages are all static which is impossible). If I try to close task manager, it will turn white (all icons inside it will disappear) and won't close. After that, the whole PC starts to break, Windows search won't work properly, I can't restart / shut down my PC and if I type ipconfig into cmd, it will write some data out and freeze. Here's the most interesting part: this happens only on one public network, it didn't happen on my home network. My adapter is TP link TL-WN722N

So I am having problems with google chrome not being able to load websites randomly. I have a stable internet connection and even other web browsers work fine. I have tried multiple ways to investigate the issue but nothing has helped me fix it. I am looking for anything that can help me fix this issue considering chrome has been my main browser and I would like to keep using it. Another thing to note is that for a moment upon restarting the computer Chrome will work just fine for roughly 10-30 seconds.

Hi All, I wasn't sure where to put this but it seems software related to me. So to my predicament: On 7.21.16, Norton 360 popped up asking if it could reboot so as to install Updates. That goes fine, no issues. 2 hours later Windows Update Checked for Updates, but did not find or install any. Then the next morning(7.22.16), the System CANNOT connect to Local Area Network(so can't access our Server) or to the Internet (though Network Center does show a good 1.0Gbps Ethernet connection). This has happened on 2 Separate Computers on the same day, with the exact same timeline of events. We do Have 4 other Win10Pro Systems that have NOT done the Norton Update reboot, and they have had no issues what so ever. Both Systems have Windows 10 Pro 64-bit, Version:1511, OS Build: 10589.494 I have Tried Norton Technical Support (basically just said same things as on Support website)(Not Helpful). Tried Microsoft Tech Support, but was put on hold for a hour, after which I needed my phone for other things (So not really helpful). I Have tried Uninstalling Norton, Reinstalling Network Driver, turning off Firewalls, Rebooting, etc. Nothing helps. Just now i tried to use my iPhone as Personal Hotspot to test whether the system would connect over Wi-Fi. It Seems to Connect just fine but then says that there is no internet connection. Getting Desperate, PLEASE HELP!?!! Also I have been a long time viewer of the site, and just never did get around to making a profile. Anyway thanks in advance

Hello, I have been having this issue for 6 months and it has progressively gotten worse, the only way I can connect to a webpage or make a Skype call (To get the constant connection) is to go into Command Prompt and type ipconfig /release then followed by ipconfig /renew. I have tried almost every trouble shooting method such as re-installing windows, buying new wireless adapters from separate manufactures (thinking driver issues), changing the PCI port (maybe faulty PCI, nope), I have tried changing the channels on the router/modem and taking it back to get a new one, same problem, maybe it was a DNS problem? I don't think so, I went into my Wireless Adapter Settings and changed my DNS and my static IP. I have no idea why but when I am in a Skype call the connection is fine with websites and other applications that use networking. Hopefully someone can help... Thanks. Edit: The network works fine over ethernet, the problem is, our router is down stairs... and the wireless in the bottom right says that it is still connected to the internet.
