Hello! First time poster here, so hopefully this is the right thread to post in. My micro USB port on my Havit HV-KB395L broke recently. I think it's just the inside of the port, not the pads themselves. I'm looking for some guidance on soldering a USB A cable directly to the pads. I've attached an image of the port- it looks like each of the pads that the micro USB port is soldered to has a trace that runs to the larger, CON2 pads, behind it. My plan was to ignore the port and solder the spliced USB cable directly onto those CON2 pads in the order (left to right) 1: vcc, 2: d-, 3: d+, 4: id (ignoring this one and not soldering it), 5: gnd. Is this correct? I can't find the pinout for the board, so I am not sure if there is a way to confirm what order the pads are in. If this configuration does not work, would the next guess be to reverse it? Thanks for your time!

Looking to purchase a longer Micro USB cable for my new GEN4 ASTRO A50 Base Station. I'm just wondering what type of shielding works best in a cable. The reason why I am asking this is because previously with my GEN2 ASTRO A50 transmitter station the Micro USB cable had stopped working and I used a cable I had laying around and what would happen is that the cable was picking up RF and playing a chinese radio station through my headphones instead of audio through my PC. People were saying that it could of been malware, the transmitter or the Micro USB Cable.

So I've been having a problem with my old XBOX controller as the cable has completely split in two. So the most obvious answer in my head was to order a new micro USB cable to fit into it. However these wired xbox controllers have to come with a slight twist It's a normal chunky boi but I just realised there is a stupid bit of plastic going through the middle which won't fit in. I can't send it back and get a slim one because I had to sand down the edges to even get it to fit in but with the plastic in the way its just left me with further problems. I've attached some photos of the small bit of plastic just to let you understand what I'm talking about. Any ideas would be appreciated thanks!

I don't know if I posted in the right spot but, I've got this old tablet that I want to get back up with what little things I have, material, tools yunno. The micro is port had kinda broke on the inside so I took the whole connector/port thing right off the board. I was wondering if I can just take this USB cable I have and wire it directly to the charging area.

Gooday fellow nerd, I am on a quest to see if I can get a micro USB cable that has one plug into the motherboard, and has multiple micro USB plugs for keyboards etc. Thanks!

I'm considering buying one of those 6ft Magnetic Volta Charging Cables for my Galaxy S7 but am concerned about my non-reversable Micro USB ports condition. It's definitely not as tight as the first month of ownership although the included USB charging cord can still suspend the phone. 1: Should I try seeing if my manufactures or 1 year extended accidental damage warranty will replace it or is it still plenty tight enough? 2: Will I be able to use that Volta cable with my included USB to wall adapter? 3: Will that be able to charge at the full wall amperage/voltage? *EDIT: I've owned the phone for just under a year & unplug/plug it in to charge about twice a day.

Hello community Do you know an adapter that converts a male type c plug to micro usb and is otg capable and is available in Germany ? I want to get a new phone and this only has type c but my gamepad is micro usb would it work if used a normal otg capable type c to usb type a adapter and then use the included extensioncable from the controller which normally is used for the computer ?

Hello guys, I recently bought this usb otg controller (https://www.amazon.de/GameSir-G3w-Gamecontroller-Controller-Playstation/dp/B019PSLC36/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1497898563&sr=8-1&keywords=gamesir+g3w) for my galaxy note 3 to play some games and it works really well ... the only problem is that I cannot charge the phone while playing because the only usb port is taken up by the controller. So I thought that there might be a adapter to split the one micro usb to 2 female micro usb ports but I didn't find such a thing. Is there some way to charge the phone while using the controller for gaming ? Thanks already

Okay, So I have this obsession with unlocking frp locked phones that some friends come to me with, I don’t ask questions because it really is non of my business where or how they get these devices I just really enjoy doing the task while learning something new and being able to do it by myself. So I’m working on this Samsung j7 Perx and I’m having a hard time getting it ( I love a challenge ?). Anywho I’ve never tried to flash a phone or use a computer but I would like to make an attempt at it today. So I researched some material and came to the conclusion that I need an otg cable. Issue with that is that money is really tight right now but good ol google says you can make one out of a micro usb male charger piece and a female usb slot piece. I got the supplies together, it took me FOREVER to get the female usb slot out of a portable charger but in due time I got it. Now as I made the cut from the charger that I was going to use for it I realized it only had 2 wires, all the videos and the websites I watched/visited all had a micro usb charger piece with 4 wires.. I’m not trynna cut up all my cords so is there any possible way to make it work with just the two wires? Blue and red are the colors on the outside of the wire. I’m not a big handy man type of girl, but I can do what most girls can’t. I’m just not very familiar with electricity to be honest lol it scares me but it’s a good learning experience. So if anyone knows how I can go about this problem, Please let me know?. Thank you for all of your guys’ time and I hope to hear back from someone soon. Have an amazingly awesome day ??? -Briezie

I have recently bought a new system, with an ROG STRIX Z270-I GAMING and Corsair H115i platinum. -The motherboard only has one USB 3 internal connector and one USB 3.1 internal connector. Problem is that the AIO cooler needs a micro-usb connection, and there is an adaptor, however it is only USB 2, physically incompatible with USB 3 headers. I want a simple USB 3/3.1 internal header to micro USB connection, without having to buy a load of bulky adaptors, as I have very little cable management space (Phanteks ENTHOO EVOLV SHIFT X) Any help on this subject would be greatly appreciated :)

Hello, I am wondering if anyone has suggestions for a couple of cables? I would like to have three USB Type-C to USB Type-C for my new Google Pixel 3, Google Pixel Stand, and one for charging the remote for the Google DayDream View's Controler. I also require a USB-A to Micro USB for the Google Home Mini. The main reason I want them is that sometimes the first party cables are crap, however, I am not sure how well Googles chargers work.

Linus always complained how "stupid" and "fragile" Micro USB is but he only complains about the connect and how the connector goes in. So I was looking at Massdrop for a micro USB cable for my Bluetooth earbuds(for some reasons like 99% Bluetooth things have micro USB...) and found a FULLY REVERSIBLE MICRO USB. Do you guys think @LinusTech should give it a review and see how it fair up against other REVERSIBLE cable like type-C and lightning connectors? I actually joined the drop to get the reversible micro USB on massdrop because I hate having to check it. https://www.massdrop.com/buy/micflip-2-0-fully-reversible-micro-usb-cable

Hey, just got myself a Xaomi Mi 3, and looking it up it says it supports quick charge 2.0 Now I've never had a phone that has any quick charge feature, so a bit new to this. I'm going to order an Aukey quick charge 2.0 adapter from Amazon (unless you wanna suggest a different brand), but am I able to use any regular micro USB cable, or do I need something different for it? Was thinking about ordering a nice cable from Anker as well.

I have a nexus 7 2014 running marshmallow 6.0.1 stock unrooted. I recently picked up a micro usb keyboard case, but I'm unable to get it to recognize it. Furthermore, I can't even get a regular usb keyboard to work through a usb otg adapter. The nexus 7 will recognize usb sticks just fine using that otg adapter and my nvidia shield portable running lollipop 5.0.1 rooted works just fine with both keyboards. Any ideas of what the issue is?

I'm really frustrated right now. My phone's battery went down to 0% and it shut down. But since I've always had problems with the stupid micro-USB-port I am not sure wether the phone is actually charging right now or not. It won't display anything at all even after holding down the power button for like 20,000 years. Help! Please!

USB Cable Device Descriptor Request Failed (Code 43)
satanisahippy posted a topic in Troubleshooting
Hey all, how are you going? Now I have a small problem with a cable I have. I have a very long (trust me its long) USB to Micro USB so that i could plug in my xbox one controller and play games with it. It worked when I first bought it but now for some reason my cable stop working and I went into Device Mananger and saw this error. Device Descriptor Request Failed (code 43) But when i plug it in with other cables it works fine. If it helps I am using Windows 8.1 Pro. Any idea how to fix this as all my other usbs are working fine. Thankyou in advance. -
So, I've had an HTC One m7 since around august of last year, and for the most part, it's been pretty good, particularly after I installed a custom rom and improved my batter life. This was until two weeks ago, when I wanted to transfer some music to the phone. I was having issues with it not showing up in explorer (not something that new). I decided I'd try plugging it into my USB hub. I did, it didn't work, and I noticed the cable was a little warm. I unplugged it from the phone, and discovered that there was a billow of smoke and some melted plastic. The odd thing is, other then the internals of the port being a little melted, the phone charges fine, and syncs more or less fine. As such, I sort of wanted to get another opinion on whether I should keep and continue to use the phone or if I should try and return/replace the phone from where I purchased it. EDIT - I failed to mention before, but I was using HTC's official cable. Also, sorry for the horrible pun.

My mum recently dropped her tablet and broke her screen :'( But the actual tablet is still working its just the touchscreen is stuffed. I thought that maybe if I attach a mouse I can log into it and just use it like a lappy and take the mouse and keyboard places. It has a micro usb so I bought a micro usb to usb adapter and attached my mouse to it yet it still isnt working. any suggestions? Ive heard of OTG cables but they are always mentioned with android tabs. The tablet is an Asus Vivo Smart Tab ME400c. Thanks in advance

Whilst unsuccessfully plugging the micro usb cable into my phone to charge it, it got me thinking about when this new craze with the type-c connector will hit the mobile market. While companies are rushing to put type-c ports on their MOBOs and Laptops, who will will have the first phone to support a type-c connection (assuming it will also be in a mini or micro variant? Whoever can put this new tech on their phones might have a huge jump on their competition in the supersaturated Android market.(Assuming that Apple doesn't decided on abandoning their own lightning connectors, which I doubt they will) What do you guys think? Will this be a game changers in the mobile market? Or I'm I being dumb and not realize that there already is a phone coming out with this new connection?

I was looking at stuff on KickStarter and found this fairly neat USB cable concept, what do you guys think? I think if the micro USB and the female USB are around $10 each for the final product I'd buy two or three of them just for my old Sony laptop that has 3 total USB ports but 2 of them have failed over the last 6 years. I use the laptop to little to justify buying a new one. But if I want to move data between 2 external drives while using the laptop, I need to move the data to the local drive first then swap external drives for the final move, and that's just one of the situations I would like to have something like this for. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/668098663/infiniteusb-one-usb-port-unlimited-devices

So, my brother got a new xperia Z3 and he now wants to move his music collection from his old one M7 to it. The problem is however that the micro usb port of the one M7 isn't working. So, any suggestions on how to move the tracks, we tried dropbox but his has to select the tracks one by one (no select all option) and he has a very large library.

Hi everyone, simple question here. I bought a Micro USB to HDMI adapter for my Samsung Galaxy S4 (i9500) and I was wondering if it is possible to plug an Wired Xbox controller as well... I would highly like to play GTA: San Andreas with my controller while monitoring my phone screen on my TV using HDMI. Right now I can't afford a Bluetooth controller, neither a Bluetooth Keyboard/mouse... I wish I could use my Wired Keyboard and mouse PLUS my HDMI output. So I could use my phone as a "computer".... HERE: Maybe a MicroUSB to USB OTG hooked to a USB HUB, then I plug a USB MALE to MicroUSB female then hook my MicroUSB to HDMI into the USB to USB to MicroUSB Female and plug my controller on another port of the USB HUB? Best regards, Boutchoo
