If only these power-cables weren't this bulky!
elwinverveer posted a gallery image in Members Albums Category
From the album: Project "Study" Room
I managed to hide all the cables which are used for my peripherals! (3x 24" monitors, Logitech G13 gameboard, Logitech C920 Webcam, Keyboard and Mouse) Note: All four of my USB devices are connected to a powered USB 3.0 Hub, which is eventually connected via the blue cable (see next image) to my computer. -
Budget (including currency): 70€ Country: Spain Other details: I have currently 0 cable management experience or gear in my desk. I can't find any of the commonly used items in my local shops (sleeves, tunnels, organizers, etc.) so I will have to look for it all on my own. What items have worked the best for you in keeping the desk organized? What approaches do you like the most?

Hi Guys, I have a stack of 3 2960-X's and am looking to start using the dedicated management ports on them for out of band management. In theory the stack has 3 management interfaces, however there is only one 'interface FastEthernet0' in the config. Does that mean I have to use the master and am not able to have management failover to the other stack members? I read in the Cisco Docs that you are meant to put all 3 into a hub and then use that, but its 2021 and I dont have easy access to a hub! Please could someone explain what I need to do here?

Hi there, I would run a little buisness, something like rent gaming computers, like cybercoffees I wish I could get some help to set it up, like witch apps/software should I get. I doesn't matter if I shall subscribe or buy it. The plan is getting a pool of 20+ gaming PCs and 1 admin to manage customers accounts and renting time. all of this in local network. it should run like that : 1. customer comes in, I set up a login account for him. 2. the said customer pay for an amount of time like 1hour for exemple, then take a seat on the pc he wish to use. 3. he logs in and then can use is until the timer is off. 4. If the customer want to extend the time he would pay an other hour or 15mins then I could add this extend to the management software. 5. time's up, the software log out automaticaly the customer. It would be nice if a software could overlay the default windows desktop and limit the access to whatever I can set up as admin like games launchers or else. Also, some customers would come to get wi-fi acess with their phones/tablets/own laptopss, If I could set up a webpage firewall with the same functionalities, it would be great. thank for reading and thank for your help.

So I’m trying to find a bookmarks manager that I can use on my pc, as well as my iOS devices. I was hoping to use a self-hosted solution, like Bookmarks in my NextCloud installation, but I can’t find any that include an iOS “add bookmark” solution. I thought about using a paid service to help alleviate my privacy concerns and then also started thinking about note taking apps. I guess I’ma little concerned about the service ending in the future though. I’m also not sure if I trust my browser with my bookmarks regarding syncing them that way. Anyway, having said all that, I was wondering if anyone could share their bookmarks management solution they use? Thanks!

So today I decided to finally tidy up my wires after about two weeks since I installed my new PSU. It's not the tidiest, but it'll do for now. Definitely more room for activities now, thinking of putting in an intake fan in the front. This was also to give me an idea as to how feasible a CM Hyper 212 EVO would be. might be a bit tight with my extractor fan sitting right next to my CPU.. Definitely something to think about.

hello guys, my first topic here, nice to share with you. i come too ask some help today, i just buy stuff and encounter a problem, this is the list of new things that bother me actually. new case: antec p120 crystal new cpu: amd ryzen r9 3900x fans: 3x be quiet silent wings 3 140mm fan controller: nzxt rgb and fan controller first i buy a case because with gpu change 3 month ago my old one was not big enough, so i finally buy a new one. And discover a new problem with the r9 3900x. In a case it REALLY HOT, like it reach 92° in there with heavy game. part of the problem is my gpu was 1cm away from the cpu radiator, so i just buy a rizer a put the card vertically. With that i tried to put some fan and it make a good difference, i only take 3 actually because in the case they are 7 fan "slot". 3x 120mm in front i keep for 360mm aio (later) 3x140mm on bottom(actually 2 are take by the fan told up there) and 1x 140mm behind with the final fan installed. The nzxt controller has for purpose to control fans but CAM software is a pure mess and cant control other fan than nzxt one, confirm by the support ticket i made. it's here i need your help, i searched a good fan controller who can control the fan i have actually and another one that will come in the futur. sorry for the really bad english. ask if you need more explanation, thank.

I'm looking to cut down mistakes, miscommunication, and forgotten tables. Any idea where I could find preferably ios app for seating arrangements . I can compromise, only reason I ask for ios is that our payment platform is square and we have the stands. I digress, I am looking for a custom UI to fit our arrangements. The UI updates across all units. Ability to change, add, edit any text for according tables. I am not looking for a new pos or an ordering system. Just a utility side app. Thanks in advance

Hi, I need some help. I'm a student in the UK and my accommodation has the weirdest placement of power outlets. My desk is stuck to the wall , even sealed with silicone on the sides. I have 8 power outlets directly above where the desk meets the wall. Cable management has been impossible. there is no place for my cables to go. My desk has a hole in the corner for cables, but it's unusable. I tried putting the excess cable in there, but it is a pain to manage when you want a little more slack in one cable. Also my laptop power brick wouldn't fit. I can't wrap my head around how stupid this design is. Plugging something in makes the back 20 cm of the desk unusable unless i want to destroy the cable(given that i have a european plug for my laptop + adapter). They make it look like no big deal in the promo pictures, but in reality...

Hey, On my desk, I've got my define S. The only problem is, I don't like having to plug my headphones in at the top or back because the cables go everywhere and get in the way of me while I'm gaming/working. What I was thinking of was firstly a headphone holder under the desk as well a pass through that goes into my soundcard, that i can plug my headphones into. I was thinking about having it close to me or even stuck to the desk between my legs to prevent the cable from going sideways. And no. Don't say wireless headphones. Any Ideas how i could do this? I ideally need two separate 3.5mm jacks. I don't really want it to be too big. Are there any off the shelf products meant for this (In the UK)? Thanks

Hello all! I am looking for suggestions on a fairly cheap, if not free asset management solution, and ways to implement this. I have tried Spiceworks for an automated kind of solution, but it fails to read all the devices on the domain, and so I am looking to go to a traditional scan in/scan out management solution. if you have any ideas or suggestions for a barcode based, (preferable) Windows based solution, that would be awesome! If it had support for fixed assets as well, or could be manipulated to "tag" certain assets that aren't necessarily computers or networking, that would be awesome as well, but not required. ~Nick

I've been getting random Memory Management errors these past two to three weeks. Sometimes the intervals are once a week to three days. It just usually happens when I'm doing light internet browsing or when it's idle. It even showed up twice yesterday. I ran at least one pass WMD and Memtest86 after every Blue Screen and it found no errors, and yet problems persisted. WhoCrashed doesn't seem to find any drivers responsible except for the ntoskrnl. Same goes for Blue Screen View. I've uploaded the WhoCrashed report here. Since 10 AM (PH Standard Time) today, I decided to test each stick and slot individually (Stick A-Slot 1, Stick B-Slot 1, Stick A-Slot 2, Stick B-Slot 2) and together through Memtest86 7.3's UEFI Default test. Each stick and slot passed with no errors through the default test (4 passes each). At this point, the sticks and DIMM Slots have been through about 6-7 hours of testing with about 1-2 minute intervals because I had to switch the sticks after each test. I'll upload the Memtest86 report html file here as well as the pictures of each post test report. Can I finally rule out hardware? Or do I have to test some more? I plan on testing with Prime95 Blend later or tomorrow, as well as Memtest86's Legacy/BIOS test. I'm a college student with no income just yet who is also going to write his final thesis this year. I can't really afford eat through my GPU Savings (I don't have one yet) to buy a new pair of RAM sticks and I can't afford to get a blue screen while writing my class outputs. The sticks are still under warranty, but I'd rather not go through the hassle of commuting to the store to replace them if they're still good. Here are the specs of my PC: Intel Core i5 3570 RedFox RF-H61H2M7 (Rebranded ECS motherboard) 2x4GB of Patriot PC3-12800 1600 MHz CL11 RAM Windows 7 64-bit (Installed in BIOS/Legacy, not UEFI) Memtest86 UEFI Default Test Result Images: Notes/Observations: - I hear ticking noises near my hard drive sometimes. It would persist for a few minutes to an hour with varying loudness and stop. This started about three days before the blue screens started coming. I tried to dismiss this since I've read that memory management errors are usually associated with SSD's and RAM. Not really sure if it's my hard drive doing this since it didn't really come up during my testing today while the case was open. I've attached the Memtest86 reports and the WhoCrashed reports here. This has been a mentally and emotionally draining day for me because of my constant fear that the computer that I built is bad, but the LTT forum hasn't failed to help me with my computer woes, and I am thankful for everyone who answered my previous queries, but I need your help once again. Thanks in advance! I work as a computer programmer, besides being a Paramedic. One of the tasks given to me by one of the departments that use my software is to add inventory management to it. Anyone have any recommendations for this? I know Linus Media Group uses a barcode scanner for their inventory management. I've seen Linus use it in one of the videos, with him saying "I hate inventory management." Are there any programmable barcode scanners out there? Is there something that can execute python or c or pawn on each scan? Anything out there that has IP connectivity? Something along the lines of API that we can use would be awesome.

I have a rockstor nas, and I can't manage it remotely. The nas says I can access the web-GUI at 192.168.0.26 or 127.0.0.1, but neither is working. I tried looking up the IP address on multiple computers, but it says its not responding. It's on a dell r410 if that helps.

I recently got a HTC VIVE setup 50 FT away from my computer. By doing this I have created a mess of cables. The cables are 2 HDMI Cables (one for vive and one for monitor) and an Ethernet cable which is used for the USB. Can I but the cables under a rug? How could I better organize my cables?

Hello Everybody I intend to set up a monitoring and management system for my network and will use Observium for this purpose. I want to use a Raspberry Pi to display a dashboard on a monitor with the most important information. I would import the data from Observium to display them in that case. I also want an alarm system that notifies my phone via SMS if the RPi doesn't get a respond from Observium anymore (If something doesn't work properly). Now to the question: Has anyone already had experience with such a system and what would you recommend me to do? Thanks in advance!

Hello, I would like to know how domains (or similar things) are done on the Linux/Unix side of things as compared to Windows systems. I am talking about domains as in what Active Directory is to Windows. I have been working with Active Directory for quite a while and I understand how it works, but I have always wondered how a similar thing is handled when using Linux. When I search about this, people say that Samba can act as a domain controller but that looks like something you would use if you need to mix Windows and Linux systems together and does not sound native at all. How are domains done in Linux, are domains even a thing on Linux that many people use, or is there a completely different way or concept of doing things on Linux (scripts and management software?) For example: With my Windows systems I have 2 DCs, a WSUS server, Exchange server, IIS server, SCVMM server, SCCM server, SCOM server, etc... and they are all part of a domain and everything is configured through group policies. Now lets say I replace all of that with Debian or CentOS or something and have a Postfix server, Apache/NGINX server, etc... then how do companies usually manage all of that? Through a control panel or is there a domain equivalent that everyone uses? Sorry if this sounds dumb, I haven't been exposed that much to Linux systems, mostly Windows Server, so I was a little confused when I found a bunch of search results about Samba emulating a Windows domain controller, and thinking what the "native" Linux way is, and wondering if domains are even a thing in Linux or if there is some other completely different way of doing it.

TL;DR- I'm trying to make a top down strategy game with management that look like the history vids you see on YT. Want to know if its possible or easy, where to dev, etc Hey guys, I was recently wondering what would be a good engine to make a top down real time strategy game. I'm currently just bringing up ideas and seeing how I can apply them. I have some ideas on how I want the game to look and function I want to design a game who's battles are similar to Winterfalling https://rarykos.itch.io/winter-falling while having some sort of management element like Ultimate General: CW https://store.steampowered.com/app/502520/Ultimate_General_Civil_War/ I was also wondering if "push physics" ( if thats what you call it would be possible too, like where you see two units clearly sturggle against one another, as one gains ground, and the other looses it. Here is a good video on what my dream looks like: Baz Battles video (skip to 9:00) Thanks guys and gals for your help in advance.

Hey Linus! In your recent Amazon Basics video, at 6:09, you open a mouse and make the comment "you made poor Tyler inventory all this stuff" and on the bottom of the mouse is a small QR sticker. I've been looking for a good inventory management system for our production equipment at work and I'm very curious as to what you're using. Would be very grateful if you could share what it is and whether or not you like it. Cheers,
