I'm looking into buying a (possibly refurbished) G4, but I read up that there's a bootloop problem on certain devices, how do I know if it's safe or not? I've heard that serial numbers 505-509 and/or hardware revision 1.0 are the ones afflicted, but some people reported devices with the S/N 511/512 and HW revision 1.1 with said same problem. Should I be worried with just buying a certified refurbished device from amazon/ebay with this floating around? What should I look for to be safe?

Hi there ;> I was asked to recover the data from LG G4 smartphone which is now in a boot loop. Any ideas how to got it work, even only for a while long enough to transfer the data to PC? There is 2 solutions i found on the internet: Resothering connections on the board with heat, Second is removing EMMC Memmory chip and puting it to specialized device to transfer a data to pc. Both of that solutions is rather extreme and none is perfect. I need to get it work fo like 10 minutes nothing more. BTW. is there really no way to acces the memory while phone is off ?

Hello! I've had a LG G3 for awhile now and it's been nothing but hassle, the phone design and every thing is great! But I've had the flickering screen issue and SIM card not reading issue and now the touch doesn't work most of the time and if it does it's only for a few seconds before it stops detecting my touch! So I'm looking for a used phone, don't want to pay any more than £120, I've seen a few options, my favourite so far is the LG G4 but do I dare risk it? I don't want to waste another £100! Another option is the Samsung s5 or s6 but the s6 doesnt have a very big battery (2550mAH on a 1440x2560 screen!? That will be worse than my LG G3!) and I would prefer a 5.5" screen but I could manage with a 5.1". What do you guys think? Any suggestions etc? Thanks for your time!

I don't know much about software utilities and I'm running out of ideas. If anyone has suggestions that would be awesome

Hi, I own a LG G4 and I have trouble finding where "MAC address" is. I've looked it up and I was told it was under About Phone>Status, but it wasn't there. If software plays an issue to this I am currently on Android 6.0.

My G4 (LG-H815, running lastest updates) is experiencing frequent crashes. The screen will freeze and the screen will show some kind of visual artifacts such where part of or the whole screen will gain a fuzzy TV static like look, then the phone restarts. After the reboot, apps that were previously running are still remembered and shown in the multitasking window. I thought it might be a GPU issue so I ran Antutu benchmark and on the first try it crashed during the 3D part but ran through it fine the second time. It also survived the 15 minute CPU stress test. I haven't tried a factory reset yet. It's still under warranty so I can get it replaced.

I have made a plex media server with freenas and I works perfectly fine streaming content to PC through the Plex web app at //ip_address:32400/web/index.html and it also works remotely on PC using the web app. I can even stream to by old nexus 7 tablet through the web app using some reduced settings because of the slow wifi. The problem is that my LG G4 refuses to play videos to completion. I will start videos then eventually I will get the message that "there was a problem playing this item". I have played around with the transcode settings and player settings and it doesn't seem to matter whether or not I am direct playing, transcoding h264 and direct streaming audio, or transcoding h264 and mp3. I have tried many different file types and none of them seem to work. It also doesn't matter what streaming quality I choose to play the video. I don't know why my G4 which is superior in every way to my nexus 7 cannot play videos while while my nexus 7 can. I am using the chrome android browser in both cases. Opera has similar issues and firefox refuses to even start videos. Any ideas?

Let me give you a timeline of my experience with the best phone I have ever used... For awhile. When I first purchased my G4 about a year ago I was unbelievably pleased. The camera was great, it was fast, the battery lasted for nearly 2 days, and the screen was great (The only thing that has held up with this phone). For awhile I did not have a single issue with the phone. My experience was going great and I couldn't stop telling others about it. However, this "new phone high" only lasted a few months. Eventually issues began to arise for no clear reason. (The phone always had a case on it and I took care of it well never tampering with software or anything of that sort.) First, I noticed a massive drop in battery life. I used to be able to go to school (a massive concrete building that hates cell service), and have nearly 70% of my battery when I would come home, even with a decent amount of use during classes. However, it soon became an issue that my phone would die within a few hours. Originally I thought I torched the battery somehow, however this was not the case. After reviewing performance through multiple analytics apps, the bloatware was simply raping my phone battery incessantly. At first I tried force stopping unnecessary processes, but this only helped a little bit since the processes would just reopen themselves anyways. Then on top of that the wall charger died within 4 months and I was stuck without quick charge. Which, while not entirely detrimental, anyone who has had to revert from quick charge to standard knows how incredibly annoying and slow it can be to charge a 3ah battery on a .8a regular charger. Overall, I was becoming very fed up with all the issues the phone had been having even though it wasn't even a year old. Especially towards the lack of software updates and support from AT&T and LG on these issues. However, on Tuesday I finally got my wish for an update. I got prompted with a message to install marshmallow and thought well great sure I want to. I probably should have done a bit of research first... Most certainly a lesson for the future. For the first 36 hours everything was going pretty smooth. I appreciated the slight changes in design and I believe I noticed some performance benefits as well. Then last night I got a notification for a text message and so I went to flip open the cover (I have the quickcircle case). Guess what happened when I opened up my cover. Please go for it guess. My phone was a brick. For no reason whatsoever it went from working to being bricked while in idle. Restarting the phone would get me to a reboot loop, but I couldn't even get that to happen without taking out and replacing the battery first. Without a doubt I was PISSED that I was recommended with a message from AT&T to download an update that would kill my phone. On top of the fact that their online support team is atrocious. To make this even better I brought my phone into the store this evening and (I do not blame the store reps for the issues I had with AT&T while I was there) after sitting with a rep on hold with corporate for 45 minutes the woman who finally answers slurs every sentence. She then went on to try and research pointless "troubleshooting" that she clearly was reading from the website that she had no experience with. Mostly throwing a hissy fit that the store doesn't keep extra batteries even though we told her multiple times the phone shoes that it can not only charge, but is at 70% battery. (Now let me preface the rest of my rant by saying I'm still covered by the fucking warranty). Her solution to my brick of a phone that gets stuck into an infinite loop every time it turns on and crashes when you try to factory reset is to (try to hold back your laughter hear) send me a new battery. What. An. Imbecile. On top of that she told me I have to not only pay for shipping, wait a week for it to arrive, and then go to the post office to purchase return shipping if it still isn't working. Apparently when you buy a phone from AT&T and their negligence breaks it, you're just shit out of luck for a few weeks until their incompetent support team decides to send you someone else's phone that was refurbished. I officially now can not contact any of my friends, I have now lost out on any potential clients through my home business, and I have no way of getting help if something happens to me while I'm away from home. It honestly blows my mind that this is considered not only legal, but acceptable business practice. If AT&T's support is this bad... I do not even want to know what it's like to be a customer of Sprint or T-Mobile. I don't think I had this many issues with my old I-Phone 5 for christ's sake. In conclusion LG sucks, AT&T sucks, the entire phone market sucks, and I still hate everyone.

So yesterday I made a post that really got no attention/ response. Now while it is in sleep mode or even on it will randomly restart. The only things out of normal was there was a major os update the other day, the incident listed above, and today I came to it and it would not power on for any reason unless I removed and replaced the battery. Any ideas guys? I really need it operating soon. I have heard some people talk about boot loops but this seems a little different.

Let me start off by saying THANK YOU LINUS, I OWE THIS COMPLETELY TO YOU! Basically what happened, was on Friday, my phone got stuck in a boot loop. It would get to the "Optimizing Apps" screen and shut off again. Other people may just get to the Verizon screen, or even just the LG screen. I looked it up and found that it was a major issue affecting many people, so I just filed for a warranty and received my new phone today. Well, on Saturday night Linus, released a video on how they fixed a dead Graphics Card and PCI-E SSD by heating them up past the melting point of solder and then testing them. For them, it only worked on the GPU. As I was packing up my seemingly dead phone to ship back to LG TODAY, i decided to give it one more shot. I disassembled the device to the point where I could take out the logic board. I took the logic board and wrapped it in one layer of parchment paper and two layers of tinfoil, shiny side facing in(FYI tinfoil has two sides, shiny and matte). I then placed this package into a barbecue. I turned on the left and middle burners and left the package with my logic board inside on the right side to the grill so it wasn't receiving direct heat. After 10 minutes, I took it out, re-assembled my phone and it booted. I was able to get all of my pictures off of it. This has only been confirmed to work on my phone, but seeing as this SAME issue is affecting thousands of people, It's definitely worth a shot. If you are going to use an oven, PLEASE, make sure it's above 385 degrees Fahrenheit and that you don't plan on using that oven for food ever again, this may release some toxic chemicals etc. I plan on using my grill again, so I just made sure to leave the grill open for 24 hours and I'm going to clean it before I use it next. If you have any questions let me know!P.S. My LG G4 was the Verizon model.

On Friday I turned on my phone and it got stuck in a boot loop. It boots into the optimizing apps screen then shuts off and on again. I googled it and LG made an announcement that some of their phones are deffective, and unfortunately, mine was one of those phones. My g4 was rooted, but that's not why it's in the bootloop because it's been rooted for about 7 months. Is there a way to get the phone into a recovery mode to get my data off of it? my other idea, though adventurous, was to desolder the NAND chip and then just replace the NAND on my new phone with the old one, because the storage and OS isn't the issue causing the bootloop, LG says it was a "connection" which is very specific :). I got another idea while looking up the issue online. There is a way to read from NAND chips if you solder the points to a breakout board using a method called "drag soldering" and then connect the board to a smartmedia reader, but I need to research this option more. Any ideas?

Hi guys, I don't know why but I can't root my LG G4 (H815) because of a weird problem I have. Basically, before I install the LG Drivers the phone is detected on the My Computer screen as usual from my pc but as soon as I install the drivers the phone no longer gets detected and it shows up as "LGE Android MTP Device" (see Photo 1) in device managment. Does anyone knows how to solve this? Photo 1: Photo 2 (tools I'm currently using to root, this is my first time trying to root an Android phone.):

Which one is better(I care about the camera and battery life)? Their prices are almost the same here(the oneplus one is slightly cheaper). Also, I considered getting the LG G4, but the difference in prices between the G4 and the G3 is about 300$. Are the improvements from the G3 worth the (rather big) difference? Thanks in advance.
