Hey guys, I am building a cheap old server for a project, and I can't seem to get the right CPU coolers. The motherboard is a Dual Xeon e5-26xxx compatible Asus Z9PA-D8: https://www.nix.ru/autocatalog/motherboards_asustek/161373_2245_draft.jpg. This board has standard LGA-2011 sockets. I've tried several LGA-2011 coolers, for example: https://gelidsolutions.com/product/rev-5-tranq, but it seems that all of them require you to install their own backplate. The CPU backplates on this motherboard are not removable. I feel retarded. The main issue is that the screws that come with the coolers are too thin and/or too long, even though the retention mechanism does line up with the holes correctly. My memory is playing tricks on me. Is this because it's a server board? For example, the screws on this cooler look correct by the shape and relative size: https://www.ebay.com/itm/284658618446, and it specifically says it doesn't come with a backplate because your motherboard should already come with one. Other server coolers look correct too: https://www.ebay.com/itm/314677372718. So what's the deal here? Are there two variants of coolers and motherboards for the LGA-2011 socket? Ones that require their own backplate, and ones that don't? I mean if that's the case, that just seems ridiculous. I don't feel like paying $80 bucks for a Nactua, but regardless, how would I know if an LGA-2011 cooler is actually compatible? Is there a specific cooler I need to look for? I don't mean a brand, I mean like a standard which is more than LGA-2011?

I have a guy who wants to buy my GT 1030 for his Lenovo ThinkCentre. I went to his place and installed it, but it only showed a black screen. I couldn’t even get into BIOS when using the GT 1030 as a display and even when using the iGPU when the gt 1030 is still plugged in, the only way i could get into bios is by removing the GPU. I also changed the video priority in the bios to use PCIe, but it didn’t work. Are there any solutions for this? Is it incompatible ? I tried to install GT 1030 drivers on windows, but they couldn’t install because I guess the GPU is not being detected. It’s not showing on the task manager or on the device manager when I use the iGPU with the GPU installed on the PCIe slot.

Recently installed a new crucial p3 m.2 as a storage drive and began having issues where my screens go black and GPU fans go to max. Pc stays like this until i hard power it and let it sit for about 5 minutes. Prior to uninstalling the drive i checked to remove any files i may have moved to it and forgot about, the drive however did not show in the available disks in file browser. Ive now uninstalled the m.2 and the pc is working. Im unsure if maybe i picked an incompatible m.2 for my build as i already have 1 m.2 and its been working fine but the working m.2 isnt marked as a "flash NAND". Im still fairly unfamiliar with all the m.2 specs since ive been on 2.5 and 3.5 for a long time. PC build is as follows : ASUS ROG STRIX z790-e Motherboard Asus TUF Gaming NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Intel Core i7-13700k 1700 CPU TeamGroup T-FORCE DELTA RGB 32GB (2 x 16GB) DDR5-6000 PC5-48000 CL30 Dual Channel PSU is a somthing somethign corsair 1K watt The m.2 in question is : Crucial P3 Plus 4TB 3D NAND Flash PCIe Gen 4 x4 NVMe M.2

Doesn't recognize the black ink cartridge and tells me it's an "incompatible cartridge" I've wiped the connector pads with alcohol, I've tried different cartridges, all original HP cartridges. So I thought it might be an old firmware problem or something but it refuses to update or use any wifi features, telling me that "the the printer could not connect to the server" When I connect it via USB to my PC and view it on HP Smart it tells me that the "Printer status is unknown" Am I better off just buying a new printer as they cost around 2 sets of cartridges where I live. TL;DR: Printer refuses to use black ink cartridge, also refuses to update firmware via wifi and usb

Hello to this wonderful community. I know Windows 11 just released publicly and many people are installing and using it. Discovering bugs and their own personal likes and dislikes. And I know Linus may do another Windows 11 video. So that said this Windows 11 install question is probably very premature, but all I'm asking is if anyone has any insight for my particular query. I have an old laptop that as far as I can tell, meets all the minimum hardware requirements to install Windows 11 on it. The only issue is seemly the name of the CPU doesn't appear on the "approved list of CPUs" that Microsoft has provided. I'm running a i7-7500U, 8GB RAM and 512GB storage. I reached out to Microsoft at this thread: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/upgrade-to-windows-11-with-i7-7500u/ffb40a40-4583-4fb7-a7d8-e2791e23dd7d And their response leads me to think only the name of the CPU matters and I'm sure there is something else that I'm not seeing or that they are telling or both. I'm not sure exactly where to dig into to understand what my CPU doesn't have that Microsoft is requiring it to have. If anyone can help explain or has some better insight I would greatly appreciate your time. And since Windows 11 is new I'm not expecting any concrete answers here, or quick ones :).

Hey, so basically I planning my build. The case I have chosen (Lian Li PC-011 Dynamic) has a USB type-c port, however, my motherboard (MSI B450 Gaming pro carbon AC) doesn't have the right header meaning the port would not be able to be used. Is there any way of getting around this without changing the motherboard or case. I also want the cheapest option possible. Also would I necessarily use the USB Type-C port, and what would I use it for. It's my first build More info - https://gyazo.com/98badb25de79a7a98a889f7102c27d0a

I few months ago I built a PC with a Z390-A Pro motherboard and Corsair 3000MHz DDR4 Memory (CMK16GX4M2D3000C16). Since then I've been only getting ~2132MHz and couldn't figure out why. I found out today that this exact model is not compatible with my motherboard and that I need the slightly more expensive model (CMK16GX4M2B3000C15) instead. Here is the list of compatible RAM models: https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/support/Z390-A-PRO#support-mem-3 Is there no way I can get the 3000MHz out of my current model? Why do these two models both come up when you search for "Corsair 3000MHz DDR4" on Amazon/Aria PC and why does only one work with my motherboard? ? Thanks for any help on this.

So recently I bought a new case and as I was transferring my motherboard to my new PC case and I bent a pin on that motherboard. So a bought a new one. It was a Z370 chipset motherboard and I had a i7 7700k which uses the 200 chipset series. I was unaware of this so I started up the PC and it wouldn't boot. I am 99% sure that it wouldn't boot because of the incompatible chipsets. I am not sure if anything is broken or wouldn't work in another system. I was thinking about getting a compatible CPU but buying a new Motherboard would be cheaper. My question, Would the CPU still work with a Z270 Motherboard.

Yes, Hi! I currently have Windows 7 Ultimate installed on an SSD, but after swapping it out from and older PC (Alienware X51-R2) to my new PC (Alienware Aurora R6), I am having horrible driver issues, now I know that Windows 7 isn’t compadible with some of my hardware such as my CPU, An i7-7700, which is Kaby Lake and Windows 7 doesn’t support that, HOWEVER, installing an Unoffical 3rd Party Patch actually fixes that issue, and I have gotten most of my PC to work. PC Specs are CPU: Intel i7-7700 GPU: NVIDIA GTX 1080 RAM: 16GB DDR4 @ 2400MHz PSU: Some stock PSU that is a 460 Watts BIOS: 1.0.12 for the Aurora R6 My OLD PC’s specs that I happened to swap the drive from are CPU: Intel i7-4770 GPU: NVIDIA GTX 745 RAM: 8GB DDR3 @ 1600MHz PSU: Some stock powerbrick BIOS: A12 ——————————————————— What is currently broken and doesn’t work is the: CPU’s Internal GPU, or Intel HD Graphics Driver, my Universial Serial Bus (USB) Driver, which means I legitimately can’t use ANY USB, I’ve been using TeamViewer on my phone as a mouse and keyboard, a “PCI Device” as Device Manager claims, and another Unknown Device Screenshots Here: https://prnt.sc/igodnn https://prnt.sc/igoe9z https://prnt.sc/igoenq https://prnt.sc/igoesw https://prnt.sc/igoeyp ——————————————————— I don’t care if the drivers are unofficial or horribly unstable or could break my windows, if I can make ANY progress even if it’s very little, that’s still progress in my book.

I have motherboard Asrock P5B-DE and i needed a new power supply as the old stopped working. So today i bought Be Quiet E5-650W to replace it, but as I plugged everything in and tried to power on the PC with the button nothing happened. Then I started troubleshooting where the problem was. Cables - OK, Paperclip test with only PSU - OK (PSU Working), Paperclip test with PSU plugged in the motherboard and CPU in socket - OK(mobo powers on spins fans, cpu getting warm). After comparing the two PSUs - old and new one I saw a white cable which turned out to be -5V rail to be non present on the new Be Quiet model which after google search found that it wasnt used anymore in the newer ATX Standards. So the question is: can this -5V rail which the new psu is lacking to be the reason for the power switch on the case(or shortening mobo front panel pins) not to power on the computer. In addition to my suspicion I can say that before old PSU broke i could turn on/of the computer without any trouble by simply pressing the button or shortening mobo pins(front panel ones). Does that mean I should turn on pc everytime by shortcircuiting the green and black wire of ATX connector while it is plugged? If it is the -5V can't it be recreated from the the other rails and just lead it to the empty cable position in the ATX connector?

Hello, I don't believe it has been stated yet so here it is. For those that may need such information, VLAN and ANS NIC Teaming are unsupported by Intel NIC on Windows 10. I have lost many hours trying to get it working for nothing. Just posting so it won't happen to others. Cheers

So I just finished upgrading my CPU and motherboard (from a fx 8350 to a i7 4790k) and now my system is failing to post, and the CPU fans are very loud. I tried re-seating the GPU and RAM multiple times, and made sure everything is connected properly inside and out. So finally I noticed the DRAM LED was solid, its and Asus board so consulting the manual I tried the MemOK! test. According to the test my RAM is incompatible, and I will need to buy new RAM. So I am wondering if there is any other way to get my RAM to work with my motherboard. If not then can someone suggest to me some new RAM? So I've been trying to install windows 7 on my Lenovo S410p by creating a new partition of 100GB. When I first tried to install windows7 the installer said the partition is not GPT something(?) but I ignored it, proceed. After the laptop restart the first time, the installer will get stuck at windows7 loading screen. After i force shut down and turn to my windows8.1, it says my laptop is not compatible. Then I run Upgrade Advisor and noticed the only thing incompatible was Lenovo ACPI-Compliant Virtual Power Controller. Does formatting the whole disk help? Had some problem with this w8.1 and is it even important?

So I am helping a friend find the parts for a gaming PC and for some reason pc partpicker gives me an error that the Xeon is not compatible with the motherboard. They are both LGA1155 and I know that sometimes PC Partpicker will mess up, but i just want to be sure. Here is the PC Partpicker link. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2UCFw Thanks!

Hey guys, new in the LTT Forums, well, i bought a second hand motherboard from an online store, it was a MSI B360 Gaming Plus (Intel 8th & 9th gen), i have an i3-9100F with a pair of G-Skill Ripjaws V DDR4, and a GTX 1060, the thing is that the mobo doesn't show up any post screen, just won't turn on (all the components work fine on another MoBo), neither a simple fan or a light. i haven't tried with a 8th gen CPU because i don't have any at hand, i was wondering if the BIOS incompatibility doesn't allow the PC to boot, or if it's something else, like a short circuit, a faulty board or something, i would appreciate any response guys, thanks!
