Hello, I am looking for a 4k monitor 32" inch, for screen recording (to upload videos to youtube in 4k), video editing (Adobe Premiere Pro) and video games. I have an Nvidia Asus Rog RTX 3090 OC graphics card, but I don't have enough money to buy an ASUS PG32UQX monitor. I don't like 27" inch monitors (because they are too small). Kindly, can someone help me and suggest a valid alternative? I am from Italy. Thank you!

Hi everyone, I'm looking into buying an almost new (open box) of a 2016 MacBook pro 15" with touch bar. (256gb config) I can get a really good price on it (still to be confirmed). What would be the maximum you would pay for this MacBook. General opinions. And how much do you think in "windows laptop value" is the MacBook pro 2016 worth. don't hesitate to give really low prices. I'm just curious to know what this forum think of the "true" worth of a 15" MacBook pro.

Okay so I need help determining what monitors to pair with my 27" 1440p monitor in a PLP (Portrait-Landscape-Portrait) setup. I need to find a happy medium between pixel height/resolution matching up, DPI(or PPI) being the same, and physical screen heights matching up. DPI of a 27" 1440p monitor is 108.79 My choices seem to be as follows: 19-27-19 : 1440x900 - 2560x1440 - 1440x900 (This matches up pixel height/resolution perfectly, but has a DPI of 90.44, and physical height difference of a couple inches.) 17-27-17 : 1280x1024 - 2560x1440 - 1280x1024 (This matches up physical height better than 19", and brings DPI closer with 96.81, however doesn't match pixel height/resolution.) 15.6-27-15.6 : 1366x768 - 2560x1440 - 1366x768 (This matches physical height the best, and DPI varies between 97-99 depending on aspect ratio, but pixel height/resolution again doesn't match.) So my question is what matters most when it comes to this being compatible in games (flight simulation and such), and productivity as far as being able to drag a window across and things not seeming larger/smaller across the screens? Is DPI the biggest issue, or is the resolution matching up more important? Of course the physical height of the screen is more of just being aesthetically pleasing.

Anyone else have three (3) Samsung 27" Curved monitors? If so, have you mounted them on a stand? If yes, which? I'm having a hell of a time finding a stand that is of high quality build construction that can support these side-by-side in a long curve, with a solid clamp to a desktop surface. Most of the ones I have found barely accommodate 27" x 3 in roughly a straight line. Add the angle to the mix to achieve the curve, and it seems like a serious PITA. Thinking of maybe trying something like https://www.ergoexperts.com/products/innovative-staxx-triple-wide-monitor-mount?variant=16156435578926¤cy=USD&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIp9aE7dbK5wIVy5yzCh24RwHXEAQYASABEgKxlPD_BwE which is supposedly built to accommodate 30" monitors, possibly giving me a little play when I turn them inward to achieve the curve. That's a $500 stand though, so I'd like to see if anyone else has a solution before I drop that kind of coin. https://www.ergotron.com/en-us/products/product-details/hxdesktriplemonitorarm#/ seems like it would work perfectly, but it doesn't appear to support a 27" x 3 configuration. Thanks for any suggestions!

Hi all, I recently purchased a gtx 1070ti and i currently have Dell 24" IPS panel (1080p). I'm looking to buy a new monitor to get the best out of my 1070ti. I'm stuck between the Samsung C27H711 27" WQHD 2K 2560 x 1440 FreeSync White Curved Gaming Monitor & Acer XG270HU Red 27" 1ms 144HZ WQHD 2K 2560x1440. I know the freesync is useless with Nvidia cards but I'm just confused between the two. Can someone help me on this. I will be ordering the monitor on Newegg. Click Here to see the monitors I'm thinking of.

Ideal diagonal screen size. I know that some phones (like iphones) have larger bezels but whatever, just don't worry about it. Personally, I like phablets.

I just made a post asking if there is a big difference between a monitor with a refresh rate of 60 hz vs 120 hz and now i am set on getting a 120 hz monitor, but the choices are so many that it looks near impossible to pick the best monitor for yourself, so i am asking , yet again the more experience community here. The perfect monitor i am looking for is with an IPS panel with a response time of no more than 5ms a refresh rate of 120 hz beatiful and crisp colors near to no or no ghosting 1920 by 1080, it should be around 27 inches too and if possible with slim , and tiny bezels (the price i can spend for the monitor is not more than 500 dollars since i am in bulgaria and 2LV here is around 1 Dollar so i will have to spend the equivilent of 1000 dollars to get a 500 dollars monitor) I know that finding such a deal would be near impossible, and that's why i am sharing what i am searching for on here, with the hopes of someone finding the perfect 1920 by 1080 monitor that i am speaking of. Thanks for your time ! PS : If the monitor has support for GSync that would also be great !

Okay so i just found out about this monitor and it looks amazing, there hasnt been a perfect monitor for me that is both g-sync 1440p 27 inch 144hz and ips with an ok response time. THIS IS IT , i feel like this was made just for me its just the best gaming and working monitor ever, atleast it looks that way, its very new and isnt even out yet but that price tag is HUGE

Hey guys, I've been looking around the forums and I can't seem to find anywhere here that there are several ranges or budgets in one thread. Now, I'm a young, soon to be, college freshman thinking about saving up some money for a nice laptop that is good enough for some school work, light gaming (say like bioshock infinite med graphics), and maybe an ssd (not necessary) but i know people are looking for other kinds of things so lets do this: Lets put a small Tag at the beginning of each comment that will help others find what they need So lets say 5 tags *Emails/School Entry level laptops (200-300) *LowGaming Lower end gaming capable computers (500-800) *LowWork Lower end Workstation capable (500-800) (screen may have more priority over graphics) *MidRange Heres just the lowest end of what linus would review (900-1200 *TopEnd Here goes what we all want but not all of us can afford (eg i would like the Dell XPS 15 (USD $2600)but like yea not any time soon ) Looks are a bonus for all of these I'll post some of the laptops i have found recently as a little starter

Hi everyone, I am having real problems procuring laptops specifically non gaming 17" intel i5 specs. I am buying in the UK, and I need the website to be able to provide me with quotes. Scan.co.uk is one place that can do this for me although their selection of laptops with the above specs is almost non existent. Can anyone direct me to a website that has a decent selection of laptops matching 17" and i5, and also provide quotes? I'm doing this for a local charity so that they can get grant funding for new equipment. Many thanks in advance for any advice! philjo

So I need some advice on what to do. Here's the situation: Currently I'm using a 60hz LG 23" IPS monitor. I mainly play CSGO but I enjoy games such as Bioshock, LoL and I'm planning to play the new Need for Speed and Battlefront games(plz EA don't let me down). I'm looking into purchasing a 144hz monitor, I've tried the Benq XL2411z and coming from an IPS monitor it was OK, fine for CSGO but Bioshock(1) looked like shit compared to my IPS. Now I know there are some IPS 144hz monitors out atm, however 27" is way too big for me, I've tried. Furthermore there seems to not be any 24" models available atm. So I'm wondering if I should wait for the perfect monitor to show up(if there ever is going to be any 24" models) or just buy the XL2411z for CSGO and use my 60hz IPS for other games. Sorry for the wall of text and for any spelling/grammar errors as I'm from Sweden. Any help at all will be greatly appreciated.

Hello, I was looking at 4k monitors and TV's that are 40 inches and I noticed that the monitors were at least $100 more expensive. Why is this the case? What is the difference between a TV and monitor anyway? Thanks.

Hey Linustechtips community! I've been recently looking for laptops, simply because I want to get one soon. I am a content creator, travel a lot and I require a device which is powerful and flexible. I also go to uni, which makes the use of a convertible ideal. Is there an adequate 2-in-1 (or 4-in-1) device which can make me happy? I've been looking around a lot. In most of these kind of devices their systems look really beautiful and well designed, but the hardware is pretty floppy still. Intel Core M's (with 1,1 ghz) and sometimes even i7's and i5's were present (Ultrabook builds), but they lack a discrete graphics-card. There is currently one 2-in1 device I know which has a NVIDIA GT 840 / 940 (embedded) inside, and this is the Lenovo Yoga 2 / 3 (2 has the 840, 3 the 940). Link to the Lenovo Yoga 3 14" with a NVIDIA. So, what are your thoughts on this? Will it be possible to get a convertible with a lot of power in 2015? I am aware that the market for convertibles is not really the same one for gamers / small-scale content creators, but technically, I believe it is currently possible to fit the necessary hardware for good performance. Thanks in Advance. Cheers.

Okay, so i have this monitor here: http://goo.gl/DX69P1 I am looking for a monitor mount that will mount to my desk and hold this monitor above my existing 3, 24 inch monitors. I want it to be able to hold the weight of the monitor as well as for it to be able to hold it above the 3 monitors that are currently on my desk at the moment? I found this one here, ( http://goo.gl/EVkfWu) but its a bit spendy, and was curious if anyone had any ideas that could prove beneficial for my situation. Thanks for the help

My parents want a new TV for the living room, but I don't know much about TVs these days so I need some help. It has to be 51-55 inches, 1080p-1400p, 60hz-120hz, and really good picture. I just want some suggestions as to what you guys think is the best TV. I would like to keep the price around $600-$700, but I can go up to about $850 if I really need to. This will be mounted on the wall and used for shows and movies. Any info is much appreciated, as always. Thanks!

Samsung Chromebook 2 13.3 inch review Intro I bought this for just School work as it doesn’t have all of the features notebooks with other operating systems have. Also all of my school work is done on my google drive account so this notebook makes it easy to have a completely integrated experience. This honestly works better for me than any other solution that I have tried. Lets delve into the review Chrome OS This is my first experience with the chrome OS. It is a very basic operating system that is highly optimized for the hardware that it possesses. Thanks to this it one of the most snappy computers I have used even though it is probably one of the least powerful. Boot up is fast and is similar to windows as it gives you user options depending on whether you have multiple accounts logged in. For each google account you have logged in it is like a new user in windows. For the people that used the chrome browser your history add ons and passwords will all be synced. SO if you have Chrome save a password for any website it will change over. One of the cooler features that the Chromebook possesses is to edit your google docs offline and then it will automatically upload them to the drive. There is one problem with this and that is the fact that they are not contained in their original folder they are just downloaded docs. so if you are an organization freak than that will be a problem because your offline sync is just a bunch of docs with no folders. The offline usage is fine as it is still snappy saving your edits to your docs. Switching between accounts is seamless again as it is like switching users on any other operating system. Screen The screen is a 1080p TN pane. As far as tn panels go this one is bad, the viewing angles are atrocious vertical color shift is huge. Although since it is a notebook you can adjust the screen for the optimal viewing angles. Compared to my 13 inch retina macbook pro the viewing angles are utter crap, as the retina has no color shift on its vibrant ips panel while the chromebooks tn panel is worse than the one on the original razer blade. Keyboard The keyboard is a chiclet style keyboard with Chrome specific functions. These are the caps lock switched with a search key, there is a full screen button on f4 and a expose button on f5. One odd thing about it is that the brightness adjust keys are in the shape of gears. The actual keys are covered in a textured matte plastic this makes them feel good and have some grip when your hands are on them. Unluckily the instant you depress the key it feels mushy although it does have a semi tactile bump. The closest keyswitch that I could compare them to are a very mushy cherry mx browns. Although something odd I noticed was that I typed faster in this notebook than any other keyboard I have ever used before. The key spacing is perfect for my hand size which is long and this although it seems to be a good spacing for most people. This is interesting as it is very small keyboard. Even compared to my macs keyboard this keyboard crushes that one as far as typing speed goes. Build quality The build quality is better than that of most chromebooks that I have seen before it as it has flex but it is much better than you would think possible for a purely plastic notebook. The flex is mostly by torque and is very small. The four rubber feet on the bottom of the chromebook are very grippy and it is hard to slide the notebook around while they are touching the ground. When the screen is facing upwards it has a little bit of wobble if you are an aggressive typer like I am. The top of the notebook is made out of a fake pleather material which is similar to that on the galaxy note 3 if not exactly the same. Samsung must have a fetish for plastic leather as they have put it on all of their high end products. So overall the build quality of this notebook is great for the price. Camera The camera was probably one of the parts that samsung had to severely cut in their design. It is usable for conferencing and google hangouts but the image looks like the ISO is at 12,800 as their is a lot of grain. Speakers The speakers are horrible everything is muddled and the speakers are placed downwards exactly where your legs rest when you are using it on your lap so the noise output is severely reduced. This causes you to raise the volume to high and then when one of the speakers is exposed it blasts the music without the muffling so that can be a huge surprise. Touchpad The touchpad is very nice for the price of the notebook. The tracking is decent and it feels very nice. The clicking of the trackpad is awesome it is more tactile in my opinion than most mice microswitches. The right click is the two finger click like on most apple laptops. Personally I like this more than the left and right click buttons on the trackpad. This style gives it a very interesting look especially with the chrome accents on the outside.(no pun intended) there is an option that is automatically turned on which is tap to click which drove me crazy. There is an option for reverse scrolling which is called Australian scrolling, this is an option that I appreciated greatly as it made my life easier for reading articles and documents. Wifi The wireless connectivity is decent for the price and even includes bluetooth, although the range isn’t that far as it will show lower connectivity than other notebooks. For example at 1 bar it will still be pretty fast. Except at that same time it shows much lower connectivity than similar notebooks although those notebooks are at a much higher price. This is interesting as this a mainly online based notebook. Bluetooth is a nice inclusion if you don't want to use the two usb ports for a mouse. Headphone test Sound okay with my ie 80’s, the sound is more flatline with losing some sound on the bass and raising the high's making it a piercing sound. Overall they sound worse than macbook pro and iphone but not a significant margin. Comparison to Macbook pro retina The Macbook pro is honestly less snappy and responsive than the chromebook, But of course you are using a full fledged Operating system on that notebook which obviously has more overhead than that of the highly optimized light chrome OS. Obviously there is much more you can do on the Macbook pro retina and it has more powerful hardware but for the things that the chromebook is focused on it does them better than the macbook pro. One of the huge parts of the Retina Macbook pro is its screen a 2560 by 1600 IPS screen with superb viewing angles this is where the Chromebook really falls behind as on the Retina macbook pro there is no color shift while on the chromebook there is huge color shift. Processor The processor on the samsung chromebook is an Octo-core samsung skew the same on that is used on the S5. Anandtech has a great article on this but I will summarize it. The samsung processor is really two different processors in one skew one a7 and one arm a15 both have 4 cores but the a7 is lower power and lower clocked. The a7 is the one that you would use if you are doing not that intensive things on your chromebook this is their version of Intel speedstep. The a15 cores are only used if you are doing something more intensive like having multiple apps open and browser tabs open. You can only use 4 of the cores at any time and they can only be from one of the processor packages as both can’t be used. This is plenty of processing power for chrome OS as 4 arm cores are plenty because of the extremely light footprint and overhead of the OS. Although there are some times that the Chromebook Stutters this is when more than 6 browser tabs are loading at once it will stutter for a second or two and then be fine. Ram This is one of the few Chromebooks with 4GB of RAM as most models have 2GB. THe 2 extra GB of ram help a lot while running multiple browser tabs as I tend to do. This lets it have 20 browser tabs open at the same time without stuttering unless they are all loading then you will have noticeable stutter. Bootup The bootup is about 8 to 9 seconds depending on how I left the Chromebook. SSD The Chromebook has a 16GB SSD. This makes opening apps super fast and adds to the silent footprint of the chromebook. You have about 10GB usable as the OS is also stored on that SSD. But if the 16GB ssd isn’t enough there is micro SD card expansion slot on the side. Battery life The battery life on this Chromebook is awesome I have been using it for about 7 hours and my battery is at 23%. This is with a relatively heavy load for this Chromebook. Its charging speed is fast, as once it is plugged in it takes an hour or two to charge from dead to full. Side I/O The side I/O is minimal, there is as follows on the left side there is the power cable receptor a usb 2.0 port a full sized HDMI port and a MIcro-SD card expansion slot. On he right there is a kensington lock a second usb 2.0 slot and a 3.5mm headphone jack. I don't find myself even using the usb ports as there aren't really any use for them in the Chrome OS. The hdmi is a nice inclusion if you were to do a board meeting or school with the Chromebook and needed to hook this up to a projector or an external display. Weight and size The chromebook is a very convenient size and lives up to the name notebook as it can easily slide in my bag with all of my binders and papers. The weight and shape feels much less clunky vs. my macbook pro. I find myself grabbing this instead of the mac because of this and how much snappier and less clunky the OS is. Glamor shots Conclusion The samsung Chromebook 2 is great for the price. The build quality is decent and the Google integration is awesome especially if your workplace or school uses Google services. It is a easy notebook to get used to if you are a frequent windows user while if you are a mac user it will be more difficult. Many of the multiwindow and tasking features are similar to windows. So if you are a heavy Google app user and are on a small budget than this would be a great option. As long as most of what you do is internet based. As for this Chromebook the octo-core exynos 5 processor and 4gb of ram are plenty for anything that you plan to on the notebook. The battery life is awesome the only thing that lets it down in my opinion is the screen but that is expected from a 340$ dollar notebook. Hi! Does anyone have any suggestions about a good monitor? I would like a 24-27 inch screen, probably an IPS panel (for the colors), and around 60hz would be enough because I will have a GTX 760 in my build.. It would also be nice if the monitor would have a tv built in but it is not so important.. The price should be around 280 EUR or about 340 USD
