for some days now my boyfriends PC keeps crashing especially when he tries to play pc games, even his discord won't open now after trying multiple times to stream yet his discord kept on crashing. It says there is a memory problem, low memory?, he checked his hard drive and cleaned his whole PC but it keeps crashing, could it be his RAM? I don't know much about Computer's and I'd really like to help him, does anyone know what it could be? I googled and it says it could be the RAM, he only got this PC for 2 years or so (built it himself) pls help I'm lost

So here is what happened. I bought a 2TB NVMe for my laptop. I unplugged the previous NVMe from the laptop and wanted to clone data, but I needed two M.2 slots (I didn’t buy an M.2 external adapter), so I Looking at my desktop computer, there are exactly two M.2 slots on the motherboard, one of which is plugged into an Optane and connected to a 6TB HDD. I didn't think much about it at the time, I just wanted to finish the work quickly, and I could take my laptop to the college the next day. After the transfer was completed, I plugged my Optane back into the previous M.2 and didn't turn it on. After I got home, I turned it on and found that my 6TB hard drive was missing (but it can be seen in Bios). And Bios is not in AHCI mode, but in Intel RST mode. "Your System is not Intel Optane Memory Ready", No compatible disks for intel optane memory is displayed in the Intel Optane Memory software. I consulted the help manual of Intel Optane, and the solution given by Intel is just a simple sentence "We recommend to using third-party software to recover data on the associated disk.", and 6TB of data is not that easy to recovery, I will need the data in the near future (because my college project is in it). You guys have any ideas? P.S. Operating System is not installed on that 6TB HDD.

So my girlfriend has a hp gaming laptop with a 1650 and a 250 gb ssd (not enough storage) aight so in the laptop on the motherboard theres a slot for an HDD. Im aware she needs a 2.5 HDD and not a 3.5. The drive would be used gaming only really. games like gta destiny modern warfare. Ive been looking into seagate barracuda 2.5 5400 rpm 1tb or 2tb and wd blue 2.5 5400 rpm 1tb or 2tb. Ive heard from some places 5400 rpm is not enough and its very slow that it would cause stuttering. Is this true or is it safe to get her a 5400 rpm for playing graphic intensive games. I havent been able to find any 2.5 7200 rpm hard drives. Apologies if this has been posted before.

Hey, so I am planning on building a PC but my budget is getting really tight. I had tried to get the best budget option for everything to fit in my price range. In the end, it comes down to buying SSD and HHD. I mainly want to build this PC to do software programming and occasionally esport gaming. SSD: 1. Samsung 970 EVO Plus (250 = $77) OR (500 = $100) GB 2. WD_Black SN750 (500 = $85) GB 3. Samsung 980 MZ-V8V500B/AM (250 = $65) OR (500GB = $90) GB 4. WD Blue SN550 (250 = $60) OR (500 = $70) GB HHD: Seagate BarraCuda 2TB (2 = $60) TB So the question is: What storage combos should I use for the best bang for for buck? (Should I buy one good 500GB SSD, should I buy a decent 250GB SSD + HHD, should I buy a 500GB SSD + HHD etc...). Options 1,2, 3 read/write speed is pretty simmilar at 3100MB+/s, option 4 is the slowest at 2400MB /s. Thank you in advanced.

Hi, I am currently looking for parts to build a temporary integrated graphics gaming PC. I need some help choosing a 1TB SSD that isn't ridiculous in price and is reasonably fast.

I have a old ssd that has been giving me issue a while now and I just bought a new m.2 drive to replace it but to be honest this is a area I am not to firmilar with so asking for advice. I have windows 10 on my old ssd that was upgraded back when windows 7 was given a free upgrade and I am wondering if I would need to get a new windows 10 code or if I could bring my current one with me? I want to backup my files but so many have corrupted that I worry if I bring anything with me it will bring that headache with me so I will just bite the bullet and put the few things I really wish to keep on the cloud but if someone could help guide me into the windows O.S dilemma it would be appreciated

So my father passed away recently. He has a computer that obviously we don't want to just keep sitting but I want to back up his stuff to a portable hardrive. I would like to do it as a partition copy so I can boot the whole system as it was to make sure no data files or even saved passwords are lost. The problem is he has multiple systems and drive with both Windows and Ubuntu OS included. Can anyone recommend something for backing up everything to a single drive and still have it all bootable?

Hello I have been having problems with hard drives that keep failing on my computer prematurely. Last year I had a drive (seagate baracuda compute) start making a ticking noise every 15-30 seconds kind of like the sounds like the arm touching the spinning disk and deflecting off. Sure enough when I did a scan I found corrupt sectors, so I bought a new drive(western digital), RMA'ed the seagate and started using the Western digital. Within a few weeks I noticed the WD doing the same behavior and corrupt sectors. I have been juggling RMA's drives ever since and have killed 4 in the past year all having the same issue soo after install. Could this be a power supply problem or motherboard? The drives are held in an enclosure in the case on rubber pads. Also all my ssd (m.2 and sata) are fine and no issue, I have swapped the sata cable as well as switch power connector used on the hard drives. I don't know what to do other just buy ssd's since they seem to survive whatever is happening.

Hi I have gotten a new ssd for for christmas to hold my games. Previously I used a hard drive to hold all of them. Even with the games and their software off the hard drive the hard drive maxes out and stutters the game. My games run great if I unplug the HDD but I still want to have it to place things that I dont want on my ssd. I have tried using disk clean, rmdir, and disk management. None of the options are able to wipe it due to an error from windows. My computer runs great without this drive and their is 100% no operating system on it. I am unable to view or delete this windows app folder I don't know if that has to do with it. I dont care how the files are remove as long as the hard drive still works I just want a clean wipe of it.

Hi, I need to install windows on a SATA HDD, which I have been using inside an enclosure as a storage device. I sourced it out of an old pc of mine. Now I am repairing that PC for my younger brother and I have ordered the motherboard and RAM. The data inside the HDD is important to me, plus I don't have time to copy that data to another place and then install fresh windows on it. I need a solution where I can just keep the data on it and also install windows on it. I have a MacBook so you can assume that I don't have any other PC using which I can do this. I gotta do all this using those new components and the HDD with that data. Please help me find a solution to this.

I am facing one problem and looking for a solution. In my desktop PC I am currently, having: 2TB Western Digital 2TB Toshiba 1TB Western Digital 2TB Seagate All drives are connected to my MBO in desktop PC via SATA III connectors. Moreover, I am planning to buy a home NAS server with 4 or 5 drive bays. But, the problem is, as specified from the title and above, I have 4 different HDDs. How can I have a copy or clone all of them to I do not know if that's possible either? Planning for a long time to buy some NAS and have 4x HDDs (IronWolf Pro) with the capacity of 2TB (at least) and put them into a RAID 1 mode (if that's the good one I need?). But before that, I do not know how can I move or duplicate data from all of my 4x HDDs around? What software to use and how do do it without losing all of them in the process? Should I use Acronis software for that or what other? Moreover, I have not yet used it so I do not know much how to work with ti at all - have to try out on Virtual Machine first ... Also, would like to know if there is possibillity to have data in Cloud? If so, what are the costs of it? Moreover, I believe I would need a month to take to upload my HDDs to some cloud on my internet connection speed at home Any advice and information appreciate! Thank you!

Hello! My computer is very quiet... appart from my harddrive which sounds like a fucking jet. It has been noisy since I bought it. It's really good on every other aspect apart from the noise... Does anyone have any tips for a replacement? I really want to have a whisper quiet PC and it's really bugging me. Requirements: 2TB Really quiet/silent Preferably under 100$ Relatively fast (in the range of peaking at 180MB/sec) I'm really thankful for any response, have a good day!

Hey, I am in dire need of some help. I just upgraded my computer from a FX 8350 to a Ryzen 7 1700. And performance wise I am very happy, it finally a smooth gaming experience instead of a rollercoaster one, stable frames instead of a god median but horrible switch between low and high FPS witch I find very frustrating. and I haven't even updated the bios or anything like that yet, so exited to see how it works after I've done that. HOWEVER, the issue I have is that my secondary hard drive is a no show after I upgraded, and I suspect why but don't know how to fix it without losing my data. I had to upgrade to windows 10 so I bought a Win 10 PRO OEM OS, it all worked and legit for just 10 bucks. However, again. I had this super weird issues all the time I had WIN 7 that I could not right click on files in file explorer then file explorer would crash and some times give me an error message saying something about RPC. So I decides to just format the whole C drive and put the little of documents and pictures and stuff that's important as a back up to my F: drive before I formatted it and installed WIN 10. How ever, I can no longer see my old hardrive, and I suspect the reason are simply because I formatted and did a clean install on my C: drive and not upgrade and "keep files" I only wanted to keep the F: drive files anyway. I did not think this probably trough and I hope some one here might be able to save me from my stupidity. ohh yeah, the drive do off course show up in the device manager, but that does not help me much. Best regards - Pål-Marius S. Hansen

Hey Guys, still relatively new to building, but I have a few questions for upgrading my Girlfriend's personal rig. First the specs of the new build are: CPU: i5-4690 3.5 GHz (from Old PC) mobo: ASRock H97M Anniversary Micro ATX RAM: PNY Anarchy 16GB (2 x 8) DDR3 - 1866 GPU: Zotac GeForce GTX 1060 3GB PSU: EVGA 430W Network Adapter: TP-Link TL-WDN4800 PCI-Express x1 Her old daily driver was an HP 550-150qe Pre-build PC. What I plan to do is harvest only the CPU (an Intel i5-4690) and main storage device (some OEM Hardrive) and keeping the data saved on the OEM hardrive onto the New Build, the new Motherboard. The old hardrive already has Windows 10, her work documents, and applications saved on the old hardrive. What I need is a refresher and answer to these questions: How do I put all her OLD data on the new PC without switching hardrives. Do I need a new copy of Windows 10 or can I keep the previous copy of Windows 10? Is or are there a video(s) that illustrates this scenario or similar? If so please share below. Any assistance is welcome!

I posted this before but since being advised to turn off the paging file i have and now i just get my pc crashing (going black turning straight off and restarting again) This will happen just as consistantly as the paging file error. Im also recieving additional weird behaviour such as when playing games such as Rainbow Six Siege i will get my CPU running at 100% and the game will stutter and my mouse will lag extremely and audio in discord will stutter until i get my pc crashing again. I used to be able to run siege with the same settings just fine, ive even turned them down. i also get near constant crashes CTD in PUBG which is a large open world game so my thoughts are maybe it could be ram now, but im split between it being that and my hard drive. One last fault is that i have red LEDs on my case and sometimes at the same time as the cpu hitting 100% they flicker and even get darker as if they are recieving less power. I have opened up my pc removed and put the ram back in place and checked all connections which seems to be fine. I have also run malware bytes which found a few Potentially Unwanted Programs but nothing serious. and i have also changed from bit defender to AVG. im really struggling here if anyone could help this would be amazing! I was experiencing multiple different BSOD errors. they seemed to happen almost daily, generally when installing, downloading, or playing memory intensive games. though could go day to day without one occuring and other days they happen multiple times. I have run MEMtest 15 times and it came back clean, i have also checked my hardrive for errors with disk check, again clean. hard disk sentinel also came back clean with 100% health. I cant always take a picture of the bsods but some of the ones i remember are: BSOD Paged fault in non paged area (this one is most common) Memory Management (again very common) System service exception (not as often) IRQL_not_less_or_equal (twice) I will post my Specs below: Operating System Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit SP1 CPU Intel Core i5 4690 @ 3.50GHz Haswell 22nm Technology RAM 16.0GB DDR3 Corsair Vengence CMZ8GX3M1A1600C10 Motherboard Gigabyte Technology Co. TL:DR - My computer is telling me Reboot and select proper boot device, It shows it in the bios but it will not load. I have reset the bios. I tried to look up a solution online it said change the sata mode from AHCI to IDE, but in my bios it only shows AHCI. I'm not sure what is wrong. I just recently built a pc for my wife, I built it all and was still waiting on the cpu, so I decided to put my Intel Core I7 6700k to start installing and making sure everything was running fine, was running good for a weekend no issues, once I put the other cpu in it would randomly crash doing almost nothing. I did stress tests on it all temps were normal never crashed when doing them. It would just randomly crash. CPU - Intel Core I5-6600k Motherboard - Msi - B250 PC Mate ATX Memory - Crucial - Ballistix Sport LT 8GB Storage - Western Digital 1TB GPU - MSI Geforce GTX 1060 3GB PSU - 500W 80+ Bronze

So I just bought the msi 1070 hybrid cooler and it fits in my bit fenix prodigy fine.(case where the motherboard faces up) However I had to take out the hard drive tower to fit in the radiator because I have a 240mm radiator up top for my CPU. My problem is where do I put my hard drive? Should I drive my own holes at the bottom and have it vertical? Help!?

I have a desktop that has been working fine for a while. I recently put a 3tb Seagate hdd that was in another computer into it. It was formatted for raid but never actually used for the raid. I had to clean it in cmd, then reformat it. It worked fine and I was able to transfer stuff to it fine. I then flashed a bios on my two 970's to get a silent fan profile, which went fine. But after my bios hangs on the splash screen and no keys or anything effect anything, I can't enter setup or anything. If I unplug the drive, the computer boots fine. And if I plug the drive in when window's is loaded it reads the drive, I am able to transfer to it and everything is fine. Could the drive just be dead or should I attempt to update or reset my bios?
