A pretty epic victory for the intrusive thoughts if i say so my self, probably one of the biggest warcrimes commited against the luthier community, but the end result is kinda cool, not gonna lie. It turned out way better than ive ever hoped it would, looks cool, does guitar stuff and it also plays games, unlimited games, but the question remains... will this guitar run or play crisis?

About a year ago an idea hit me right in the head about putting a screen into a guitar, from there the idea snowballed into a whole project that has been in the development for quite some time now, but now it's finally turning into reality. This development process really kicked my butt from the start with all the logistical ideas on how things would connect, what parts to use both in the guitar and what computer should I put in. In later stages a lot of time was spent on making my own computer case that would allow me to insert and remove the computer with relative ease, as if you want to upgrade parts down the road. This project also got me into 3D printing since that was the best way to make such small case with all the necessary features, as it did allow me to rapidly demo out ideas and concepts. The current build details include these parts (can be subject to change as the project goes on): PC: - Minisforum UM560 (16Gb ram + 512Gb M.2) - choose just because its a powerhouse of a pc, has decent cooling solution that alows me to exaust the head out with relative ease, also fits perfectly in the guitar body thickness wise. it also has a display port type C on the front that is going to be used to power the display in the guitar. LED stuff: - Micro LEDs APA102 - 200 LED/M - found LEDs with great density and width that fits perfectly into the edge binding of the guitar (tested how it's going to turn out before hand, light is not that well defused, but that is to be expected when there is only 2mm of resin between the LED and the outer edge so I can live with it) - ESP32 board - I am using two of these to power and control LEDs in the neck and body separately that i can later combine in to one using WLED, planing on having it soundreactive, that can be done through WLED or LEDFX DISPLAY: - WaveShare 7 inch QLED display: I am using it since it's about the biggest display I can fit between the bridge of the guitar and the neck and it has a decent way of mounting it GUITAR PARTS: Bridge: GHOST ResoMax NV - The only reason I'm using this bridge is because of the display that's in between the bridge and neck, there is no place for normal guitar pickups. But there is also another problem when it comes to picking up noise from the LEDs or the computer it's self, that's why I choose a bridge that has pizza pickups in it that allows me to pick up the sounds the string produce with no noise from the LED light. The plan is for this guitar to have the ability to be played as a normal guitar, have on board recording capabilities, casual gaming/working, RGB edge binding that reacts to the music you're playing on the guitar, or the music on the PC its self. here are some progress fotos so far! Guitar body before the edge binding is on and unpainted Computer case End goal for the body So much testing It fits, it sits

Hello off topic part of Linus forums. I need your scientific help. I have this guitar that I got from my dad a few years ago, now he bought this guitar probably back in 80s-90s and I have absolutely no idea about it origin. I know that magnum guitars are a rip off brand of guitar that made things like strats but I cannot find ANYTHING that looks ANYTHING like this one. It’s got an original Floyd rose, humbucker single signle pickup setup, coil split (or tap not sure which one) and volume and tone. It’s got this wicked orange and black paint job that I have no idea how to explain and these awesome “v” like inlays but I just don’t know where this thing came from or if there are any other out there in the world (if there are I would like to buy it plz thank) the neck looks to be either maple or ash and it has this sticker at the bottom of the neck near the bolt plate. I can’t read it because it’s so old and faded but here are the pictures please if anyone one has any information at all about this PLEASE TELL ME thank you off topic community

Hi forum! I'm looking at Xbox 360 Guitar Hero wired controllers, and they're insanely expensive, with used ones going for 150, in average condition, and new ones going for 300 dollars! I'm interested because I'm looking to stream Clone Hero soon, and came to the forum to see if there's anyone that makes a controller compatible with the game, possibly even custom, because if I'm going to pay 150+ I might as well make sure it works right? =) Hey, who knows, with any luck someone on the team can send the request up the chain, you miss 100% of the shots you don't take!

Howdy! I've kinda of new to the audio recording event and I've been surfing the web for interfaces to record my guitar playing and MIDI piano. There's so many options and I feel overwhelmed picking. My price range is $100-250. I'll like 2 input channels, too, if possible.

Greetings! Long time channel fan, first time forum poster. Earlier today in one of the FB fan groups, someone posted this image, So I thought to myself, "I can do that!" I have this busted up guitar, neck is warped, horribly taken care of by the previous owner (so much so he just gave it to me), so I decided, what the hell. I'd been planning to sell my buddy spare PC parts that came from my last big upgrade at a decent first gaming pc (2nd gen ryzen and a 1060 6gb), and I thought, hell, I could make it special for him too! So this is a picture of what I have right now, everything is kinda dropped in there right now, and that is not the PSU i intend to use, i just dropped it in because I know it's a chunky one, and if that'll fit, a more modern and smaller one defo would. Now, here's my current problems and how I plan to overcome them: Holes I'll have to drill/cut a few. This is gonna be for everything from ventilation to IO, speaking of which, Ventilation I want to, if i can, cut precise holes where the graphics card fans are. I want to cut one out too at the back for the PSU to ventilate. Same for the CPU too, obviously. Gonna buy a bunch of mesh too so I can mitigate the dust it's most likely gonna collect too. I/O Extensions. Lots of extensions. I'm going to try get a bunch of low profile right angle extensions for as much of the IO as I can and lead them through to the back or sides. As with most custom cases, reaching the IO might be awkward but they'll defo be more awkward if they're just coming out the bottom, like on the first pic in the post. Mounting This is probably my biggest concern and where I'm gonna be requesting help from some of you folks. I need to figure out a good way to basically make it so i don't short the motherboard. Should I literally just buy some extra standoffs? If that's all I have to do, That's cool. Mounting the PSU might be a challenge too since it's probably going to be the heaviest thing in the system, I might have to fabricate some kind of bracket to hold it. For the graphics card, I plan on taking the screws out of the face of the shroud and screwing the face of the guitar to the shroud with some longer screws, so the graphics card will be held onto the face of the guitar rather than resting on the motherboard (as it's doing in the pic). This will make opening the case a bit awkward, but given what I have, I think it's the only reasonable course of action. So that's it! I've done all I can do physically today, and I just need to make a shopping list. Any help or advice would be appreciated!

So i'm just wondering in the forms here if there are any bass players. Both upright or guitar. I myself play both the upright and the bass guitar. My 4 string is a Toby Deluxe IV, and my 5 string is Treben Phoenix My Upright Bass.. I do not know the brand out of the top of my head but it is a Romanian bass.

Hi, i'm helping some friends to find some audio gear for their choir. They already have an active speaker (no brand, about 200W), a Behringer UB502 and a crappy dynamic microphone, but since the group is getting bigger they need more microphones and a better mixer. They have 2 acoustic guitars, a keyboard, a violin and 3-6 singers. I planed on getting them a Behringer Xenyx Q1204USB mixer, maybe it's a little overkill but that should be enough if they expand more or get better speakers. I wanted the outputs to be balanced since the mixer will be about 10m away from the amp. My biggest problem now is to find the microphones, i guess they would need 2 microphones for their guitars and they would like to get one microphone for all the singers maybe a large-diaphragm condenser microphone? Do u guys have any recommendations? A guy at our local music shop recommended me a matched pair of Rode M5 for the guitars but i'd like to hear a second opinion.

I am sorry, but I haven't found my answer yet. Everyone seems to be smart enough to not ask this question anywhere. Is the DiMarzio Super Distortion pickup active, or passive? I think it's passive, but if it's active I need to make sure my guitar is ready before getting one.

When I plug my electric guitar into my microphone jack using a 6.3 to 3.5 adapter there is no sound at all, however when I open the sound control panel and check the mic levels, whenever I play a note the bars rise up as if there is sound. I have tried plugging into different audio jacks already. What do I do?

I ask my older brother to teach me and even after 2 hour i am still struggling let alone 30 minutes and he have teach me for 2 week...and now i can play a little. The place is about 10KM away from my home and it will cost me around $150/month ( 4 courses 30 minutes each per month) actually around $300 because i have to take a taxi. So here's the thing, I am a fairly new guitar player and have an electric guitar and want to connect to my laptop and record a few awesome riffs. But the problem is that my laptop (Dell G5) has a combo headphone jack, so now when i plug in my setup, it doesn't detect any input at all. I do not know what the problem is, is it a windows setting that i need to change or is MaxxAudio Pro messing with me or is there something setting that needs to be changed in Audacity or anything else. I have seen videos and stuff on how to do this and there it seems fairly simple but idk whats the problem i am facing. I have tried both the setups 1) straight guitar to laptop and 2) guitar to amp to laptop but nothing is working. Solutions on internet that i've found either require a USB audio interface or a jack splitter, plz tell me if i necessarily need to use any one of those or is there something that i can tweak on my pc to make the thing work. And i do not want to buy anything new until its absolutely necessary.

I am looking to buy my first decent acoustic guitar. By decent i mean, I used to play a cheapo $25 acoustic guitar that i bought from my local general store and i've been using it for more than 3 years. I never took it seriously though, I only play it when i am in the mood. I never had any private lesson or music lesson, I learned it all by myself. I just want a decent guitar for the first time. I have done my research for it such as Type of the guitar,material,solid/laminated,body type, etc So many people suggested to get the Yamaha F310P because it comes with a lot of stuff inside, Its a beginner starter pack guitar. But i want to know about the guitar based on the perspective of the expert. First off the top is Laminated Spruce i still have no idea what Spruce it uses, Mahagony back and side also laminated and rosewood fingerboard. Secondly its only available in dreadnought shape which is not really a problem for me, I can still do fingerpick on it. Thirdly, are there any better option in similar price range?

So i heard about this calibration tool that u can clamp it to your guitar and it will calibrate it by listening to each strings u pull. Question is how accurate/reliable are they? Can i trust it? Hello everyone! I'm wondering how to get my guitar audio to my pc. I play electrical guitar, so I'm using an amplifier. But I can't seem to find how to get the audio to my pc. Currently I'm just recording the output of my amplifier with my laptop, which obviously isn't ideal. I'd like to know how to get the audio to go from my guitar, or amplifier straight to my pc. I don't know if this is possible, but I assume it is, to output it to my pc so that I can apply real-time effects while I'm playing. If that's even possible, I assume I need software for that, so if someone could tell me what would be a good piece of software, that would also help. I hope I'm making clear what I want, and if not, please, ask me for clarification. Thanks in advance!

Hi guys, I wanna build a home recording studio for my acoustic guitar (without vocals), and I have 600(american) dollars for it. I don't really know what kind of mic and audio interface should I use for it, I guess a stereo condenser mic and a lavalier mic would be ok, but I don't have any specific ideas. Can you help me with some product names and prices?

It started with a challenge, or experiment rather, that evolved into a mission. It began while I was staring at my dad's old guitar that he wanted me to learn to play, but I never was motivated enough to make any of my few attempts to do so be anything more than memories I'd rather not hold on to. This staring was soon interrupted by my vibrating phone on my desk. I lumbered towards my desk, noting that the notification was an email. "An email," I thought, "I don't usually get emails". I unlocked my phone, and found it was an email from twitch saying that the WAN Show was on. I sat down at my desk and navigated to their page, but to my disappointment, they were not online. I made the decision to stay in the chat, since I saw Luke was talking to people. I thought about something that I could type that could make him chuckle, and maybe even respond to the post. As I was brainstorming, I scanned the room for inspiration. My looking came to an end when I spotted my dad's guitar again. I formulated my proposal to Luke and revised it as I was typing. This was no ordinary question, this had to be eye catching, as well as short enough for Luke to read it before it leaves his screen. All this on top of the base, which had to be simple enough so he would not be confused, but clear enough so he would not be left with questions about areas that could have been too broad. I finally was satisfied with one draft of the comment, and sent it away. I waited patiently, and it was not long before my jaw hit the floor. Luke had accepted the challenge, which means I have to hold up my end of the bargain. This is the place I will post my endeavors and document the journey I intend to go on to stay true to my word. Any tips/tricks from any guitar players would be appreciated!

Good evening guys, So I'm interested in creating a guitar setup with my PC, be able to play music and jam along, record music ect but I don't actually have the ability to do that at the moment because I'm not sure how to go about it, I attempted to set something up but I'm only able to get my guitar to output sound but that means all other forms of sound (itunes, youtube ect) produce no sound. My PC does not come with a sound card. I'm not sure where to start really, I have no form of external hardware, just my instrument. Here are my PC Specifications: - CPU: Intel Core i7 5820K Haswell-E (Socket 2011) Six Core, Twelve Thread Processor, Watercooled and Overclocked to at least 4.4GHz - Motherboard: MSI X99 MPower Max AC (Socket 2011) ATX DDR4 Motherboard - RAM: Up to 32GB (2x8GB) 2400MHz Dual Channel DDR4 Kit - Graphics: 2 x Nvidia GeForce GTX 980Ti 4096MB Graphics Cards in SLI & Watercooled - Primary Drive: Samsung 840 Evo Series 500GB Solid State Drive - Secondary Drive: Seagate Barracuda 3TB SSHD Hybrid Hard Drive - Audio: 7.1 Channel HD Audio with SPDIF I/O - Operating System: Microsoft Windows 8.1 64-Bit - Power Supply: Super Flower Leadex 850W 80+ Gold Rated Power Supply I'm really looking for some insight as to what I purchase first (If something does in-fact need to be bought), is it simple to setup? Do I need some kind of sound card? Thanks very much in advance for taking the time to read my forum post, appreciate it very much. Ivan.

I want to learn guitar, The covers and songs kinda makes me wants to learn how to play those songs, but where do i start? I want to learn Classic Rock songs in general. Kansas, AC/DC, and lots of other classic rock bands. People told me to get acoustic guitar first but i wouldnt be able to play rock songs, and i dont want to save up for another electric guitar. I can only buy one guitar. So what do i really buy first? I also cant afford a guitar teacher so i want to learn it myself, through the power of internet! I see alot of people play Rocksmith, is Rocksmith a good learning tool? I wouldnt mind reading some long guide from the internet if it isnt. Also i already have an amplifier though i dont think its for guitars. Its more like a mini amp for my speakers for my pc, but it has a 6.5mm jack.

I have a fully acoustic western guitar with steel strings, with no preamp or pickup or anything like that. Now, I want to loop my guitar with a loop pedal, and for that i need a pickup. I went online, did my research, and I came across the pickups that need to be places in the hole, the so called 'passive electromagnetic pickups' I saw this one : [post=http://www.amazon.com/Seymour-Duncan-Hum-Canceling-Soundhole-Pickup/dp/B0002E3B7I/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1441647482&sr=8-1&keywords=Seymour+Duncan+SA-3HC+Woody+Hum+Canceling]Seymour Duncan SA-3HC Woody Hum Canceling The hole sizes are OK btw I'm only worried about a couple of things. If I slam on the body, like right next to strings, will it pick up those sounds too? I'm not sure as this is not an actual microphone. It's one of the cool things i like about looping, so it's pretty important to know. Do i need a pre-amplifier to make it sound good? This will cost me a lot and I kind of don't want to spend a ton of money.. If someone could help me out with these 2 questions, that'd be great! Even if you don't know, maybe ask a friend. It would be greatly appreciated!
