Ok, so I bought a Gigabyte GTX 1660 Super Mini ITX OC from my friend (for £200 (msrp) because they got a 3060Ti for only £200 over msrp) as an upgrade from a GTX 1050Ti. Performance is ballin' and I'm loving it. But what I thought was coil whine turns out to be the fan literally going brr. I took the shroud off, took the fan off of the shroud, cleaned it all up, put it back, and tightened the screws. All just to make sure that it wasn't the construction of the shroud that was causing it. I couldn't see anywhere that might be interfering with the fan blades, so it's gotta be the bearings, or the motor coils. At 60% fan speed, it sounds like a mini-fridge compressor, through my headphones (the sound of the pc fans gets filtered out, so it's just the fan coil whine). At about 80% speed, the pitch of the coil whine is high enough that sustained exposure becomes painful. So I need to replace the fan, but from what I can tell from the following bits of research, the options for the fans are "RMA or deal with it" Reddit thread of someone with basically the same issue as me Reddit thread of someone with a fan rattle issue A post on this forum of someone with fan rattling I even started looking around for entire replacement heatsink/coolers, and found these two forum threads TechPowerUp forum - "what happened to aftermarket gpu coolers" Overclock forum - Someone who discovered Arctic Cooling doesn't support the 1660 Ti with any cooler they have For reference, here's my PC specs Ryzen 5 3600, cooled with a DeepCool Gammaxx L240 V2 AIO (I guess L240 refers to the fact it's a 240mm rad) Corsair RM550x PSU Patriot Viper Steel 2 x 8 GB DDR4-3600 CL17 NZXT H510 case MSI B550M PRO-VDH WIFI Micro ATX Motherboard My question to all of you is: what are my options? Yes I could go full custom loop, but that would be both expensive (as I'd need to buy a pump, tubing, fittings, water blocks for both the cpu and gpu, and a new rad) and a time-sink (because I'd have to dismantle my entire pc). I could just bulk-buy replacement fans and replace them every 60 hours (the amount of time the fan-rattle reddit post mentioned silence lasting). I could find an aftermarket cooler, but not only are they hard to find, but there's no guarantee of quality, and no reputible manufacturer (other than arctic which as already referenced, they're touch-and-go as-is). My end-goal is the custom loop, but that's a couple months down the line. What would you all recommend I do in the meantime? Is there anything I can do to at least reduce the hum of the gpu fan coils for a while? I doubt using epoxy on the fan's coils would be sensible, but is there anything that can at least make it tolerable? EDIT: corrected the fan speed percentage sound info

Hello, Short story: I have a Phanteks p360a, 1080ti with arctic xtreme IV (3 slot down 1 slot up), ASUS PRIME X570-P. The gpu dos not fit the top pci slot and the motherboard manufacturer forgot to disclose on their page that their bottom PCI 4.0 16x slot is wired only as 4x. So my gpu runs at pci 3.0 4x, hence a bottleneck. The stock 1080ti cooler was an msi armor (only fit for a 1070 standard in a freezer and one of the fan died on top of it) so I would like to keep the xtreme IV. My solution would be a vertical bracket. Does anybody know any vertical bracket that could fit this weird sized gpu? (1 slot back 3 slot front) Thanks for the help in advance.

I have enough space on the back on my cabinet between my GPU and my PSU to place a 120mm fan (using the unused slots as vents), it is worth to place one to try to extract the warm air coming from the GPU fans? (I think) It would look better using the emty space, but will it affect the pc temperarure/performance? (having in theory 3 case fans in front, 1 on the back and 2 above feeding the cpu watercooling (i'm on the planning phase), GPU: Gigabyte Radeon RX 570 GAMING 4G & CPU: AMD Ryzen 3 2200g ).

I have an AMD Radeon RX 580 GPU in a Dell 5675 PC. This GPU runs very hot near 80c most of the time. I don't game on this machine so temp reduction is more important than performance increase. Any experience on how to reduce temps on this CPU? Thanks in advance for any guidance.

I am just wondering if you can buy a cooler for a Radeon HD 5870. I don't want to hear you should just upgrade because the cpu I run is a Q8300. Getting an upgrade wouldn't do anything because this GPU compares really nicely with my CPU. My budget is 20 maybe 30 usd. And I woulding care if it is a cooler pulled off of another HD 5870 so long as it mounts up to the standard 5870.

Hi LTT Community, So I have this CPU Cooler -- CoolerMaster Hyper 412S, and a MSI GTX 970 Gaming 4G card. I usually clean my PC every 6-7 months. Recently I noticed some patches and discoloration accumulating on the heat pipes of the GFX card and on the fin-array of the CPU cooler. Which I'm sure is due to oxidation over time(?). I do live in a humid city, Mumbai(India). However, what is the best way to give the heat-pipes and the fin-array their "shine" back, assuming that is even possible? Additionally, is using rubbing alcohol(99%) with some water for dilution going to affect the heat pipes and/or fin-array in any bad way? One more issue with the GFX-Card is that I can't completely remove the heatsink yet(i.e. exposing the GPU die shrink) because the card is still under manufacturer's warranty. What would be the best way to clean the card without voiding the warranty? As of now I've only opened the upper plastic shroud and the GFX-fans and cleaned the heatsink using a blower, but the dust is quite visible on the card despite getting rid of a good chunk. Thanks in advance.

Look closely, very closely Source: https://www.pcgamer.com/amd-is-changing-the-type-of-cooler-it-uses-on-next-gen-graphics-cards/ I almost never notice how loud my fans are because I wear headphones and I also don't get bothered by them if I do notice. But it's still pretty cool for those that want a quiet system.

Hello, what's up? To summarize as best as I can, I'm from Brazil and I have a rx 5700 XT challenger (from asrock). Here it costed the same price as the reference card and at least $50 cheaper than the other aib cards available here (the thicc II and mech costed $50 more, the red dragon costed almost $100 more and others, like the sapphire nitro + and pulse were not available here). I didn't find any review out there of the card at the time of the purchase (two weeks later hardware unboxed made a review of it), so I figured that if temps sucked I could just get something like an accelero xtreme IV or a raijintek morpheus II (my sister is making a trip to the US at the black Friday, so I can ask her to bring me one of these). Turns out that the card sucks in terms of both temps and noise (I had to undervolt my gpu in other to get temps lower than 85°C without going deaf). Even reapplying the thermal paste (which was horribly applied, there were a lot of blank spots) and tightening the screws didn't help much (reduced the temps about 2-4°C). My next steps were going to be applying liquid metal and getting some washers for the screws, but now I think it would be better to ask my sis to bring me a third party cooler. I had an accelero twin turbo II in the past and loved it, so I know how good the xtreme IV will probably be, but I also saw the raijintek morpheus II, and how much cooler it could possible look (in terms of asthetics). But I didn't find it for sale at Amazon, only at eBay and it comes from Europe. Is the cooler not available at all in the US? If that's the case, can someone recommend me an air cooler as good as the xtreme IV but that looks better (I don't have space in my case for a liquid cooler and it has tempered glass side panel, so looks are somewhat important (but less important than performance of course))? Sorry for the long post and thank you for the attention

I have an odd problem with my Gigabyte Gv-N98TXTREME-6GB 980ti. I bought the card used from a friend and have been using it for the better part of 6 months and have had no issues whatsoever. It was only until I began exploring the possibility of installing a vertical GPU mount that I discovered the fan ring illumination is messed up. Instead of full illumination each fan ring has a tiny portion at the top that is lit with some colors not lighting up the ring at all. If I didn't know better I would say the lights have partially burnt out however LEDs do not burn out. I figured It could be a wiring problem but after contacting the previous owner, he confirmed the cooler has never been removed. It is also worth noting the windforce logo on the side of the card works perfectly fine. Has anyone ever experienced a problem like this, or have any ideas?

Why are GPU coolers mounted on the bottom of it instead of the top to take advantage of rising heat?

My GPU has Zero RPM on so it runs without fans for a few minutes at idle, then suddenly turns the fans on super high for a few seconds and turns them back off again. It is insanely annoying, I can hear it from multiple rooms away even with the TV on. Radeon software has a setting for zero RPM, and i have tried turning it off, applying changes, and saving the profile. I walk away and hear it making the awful an noise again. I am super stumped, but i am not sure i can take this noise much longer.

So as I was streaming my computer decides to randomly blue screen. I've never had this happen before and I was streaming essentially the same way as usual. My Specs Asus P8H61M-LE/CSM i3-2120 cooled by an H60 with the stock fan it comes with Gigabyte GTX960 Windforce (pretty sure theres more models but idk which one exactly it is) 8GB Patriot Viper 3 DDR3 1600mhz (underclocked to 1333mhz due to mobo constraints) Seagate 1TB HDD 5400RPM.. it's a pretty old drive Corsair CX500M Now when I try running my PC it starts up incredibly slow. My idle CPU temp is now 55 degrees (with the side panel off)... before it was around 23-30 sooo that's probably a problem. Also when I boot into Windows my GPU cooler stops running, even under load. In BIOS though the cooler is running fine. Anyone have any insight on what exactly went wrong and how I can fix it? I'm considering upgrading my CPU and Mobo and switching to an air cooler cause some threads are stripped but if those aren't necessarily the problem areas. That and I'm a poor university student so it's hard to fit new computer stuff into my budget.

I was taking the cooler off of my Titan X. Everything was going great. Then, I came across 3 screws that were in too tight. I stripped them due to their poor quality. I have tried many screw drivers and a rubber band. I am NOT going to use a Dremel. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

For a build I'm going to do in the future, I've decided I want a graphics card with the Twin Frozr IV cooler on it, but I want a blue colour scheme and all the latest cards by MSI are red. So... I did some shotty photo editing to see what they'd look like! Here is the original with a more vibrant badge. This is probably the colour (or a similar colour, maybe less dark, maybe metallic) I'm going to use for my build. I was considering using the same card with this colour scheme for a potential future build for my gf. What do you guys think? Do think it's doable? How would you do it? Cheers and sorry for the crappy photo editing skills

Hi all, I'm looking at upgrading my graphics cards to a GTX780 of some denomination, and I'm trying to settle on a blower or non-blower design (e.g. ASUS DCUII or EVGA Classified). I am leaning towards the ASUS, but my greatest concern is what the effect of an open-air cooler will be on the ambient temperature of my case. I have a TJ07 currently configured so that only two NF-F12's exhaust through the top of my case through an H100i (two 92mm and two 120mm are intakes). The H100i is cooling a 3930k at 4.5GHz, which outputs a fair amount of heat. I'm concerned that if I get a card with in-case exhaust that it will increase the ambient temperature in my case, thus diminishing the cooling potential of my CPU cooler. Does anyone know how much of an effect in-case exhaust cards have on all-in-one cooling potential? For additional information: I only plan on a single-gpu config for the foreseeable future, and my current setup is two 6870's with the reference rear-blower cooler. Other rig details are in my signature.

I couldn't find a thread like this, and I'm interested to find out. So, which design od the 780 coolers is the best? twin frzr, direct cu 2, windforce, acx... ? I imagine this would be very important since the 780 implements the GPU Boost 2.
