I'm planning to upgrade the screen for my Gameboy Advance to an LCD screen. The upgrade requires me to solder some wires to the motherboard, in order to get brightness adjustment. Is there any soldering iron that anyone can recommend for a newbie like me? I know there's other threads on this topic, but I'm not sure if there's soldering irons for specific tasks. Here's the link to the LCD Screen: https://handheldlegend.com/collections/game-boy-advance-gba/products/game-boy-advance-gba-ips-funnyplaing-v2?variant=31583104630918

I need some help finding a component on a Gameboy Micro. Its label on the chip reads "MITSUMI JAPAN 523 H PM C". I've tried looking all over for this thing and can't find it for sale anywhere. I know the Gameboy Micro was a pretty niche console, but there has to be one of these chips laying around somewhere. I've looked on Aliexpress and Digikey and a bunch of other places with no luck. It seems like for GB components you mostly find GBA or GBA SP stuff, and the parts are not the same as the GBM. I'm totally stumped, and buying another one on ebay or finding a replacement motherboard seems like a waste if I could just fix what I have with this one chip. In general I don't actually know what this chip does, but I know its important because it got destroyed on my GBM after getting water damaged and the console will not turn on whatsoever, despite lighting up momentarily when plugging in the AC adapter. My guess is that it has to do with power delivery to the CPU from the battery or something.

Original articles: Nintendo Life Nintendo Everything Original forum post: ResetEra The forum post also goes on to list the contents of the leak: As well as the other content that has leaked over the last few weeks: Atheerios also handily links a video showing a demo ROM from one of the leaked Nintendo 64 files, used to test the console: All of this makes it a very exciting time to be an legacy Nintendo console fanboy (like me), possibly extending the possibilities of Homebrewers on their consoles. Some of the enthusiasts on r/WiiHacks have been discussing the possibilities: I'm very excited to see what people will be able to do with their Wiis now that there are no limits other than those of the hardware. (It'll be interesting to see if it can run Crysis)

So the display on my dads old gameboy kinda fell off and I decided to superglue it back on. Bad idea. Now it has glue all over the inside and it's superglued on. Can I get the superglue off and if I can, can I remove it all and use other glue to put the screen back on? Btw it still turns on

Can anyone redirect me to somewhere i can buy this specific battery? Trying to revive my childhood pastime.... Thanks in advance.

I’ve recently found my old gameboy at my grandparents house. But it doesn’t turn on and the insides look corroded. Is there any way to fix/clean it?

I'm looking for a game to let my 2 year old girl play. When I was 2 I remember playing super Mario (or at least watching my mom play it, as it was 1991). I was wondering if you all have any ideas. She loves watching me play games and I want something she can play too. Any ideas?

I just noticed I have just over £10 on Nintendo credit thingy. Thinking the best way to spend it would be to buy a decent Gameboy-era Pokemon game (or other RPG). Which would be the best game to buy? Never played a single Pokemon game.

I started playing Pokemon with FireRed so I never played the original GB games. I wanted to go back and play them but I heard that you can't transfer Pokemon those original games. Is this true? If so then why have I heard you can transfer them from the Digital copies that are now available. Using Pokemon Bank? Sorry, I stopped avidly playing at White. Can someone shed some light on this? I want to get my hands on that glitches out Mew and any other Pokemon I don't want to miss.

Hi I just tried bunch of emulators on android using my Nvidia shield Tablet so I figured I would help someone to decide which emulator to purchase on google play store. I have purchased 3 emulators and all of them have pros and cons and for me I need them all for different reasons but maybe you don't. First emulator Classicboy Full quality screen shot as you can see it have many emulators built in it so it gives u 8 in 1 value for 4$. Super cheap for what it offers. Features: A ) Saves- it have the ability to save states ( like snapshot saves ) and instant resume wherever u left it with multiple slots to save for each emulator separate. 1 Quick slot + 9 normal save slots for every emulator B ) Settings- every emulator have cheat codes option except NeoGeo. (Global settings available but not for cheats ) C ) Controls-you can map and adjust controls as u wish also make profiles again every emulator separate (but there is a General setting or a global setting u can adjust the controller there so by default all the emulators will have these modifications ) on other hand controls with sensors and gestures avaiable also support multiplayer with more controllers (bluetooth for example ps4/ps3 or OTG cable or nvidia controller ) in playstation it support vibrator feedback (by ticking the option in advanced settings ) it have overley controls that can adjust the size, location and hide them etc.. D ) Graphics- in global settings under video , there is rendered resolution tab ,with it u can adjust the rendered resolution and can give u better visual quality than the original Console (tested with Nvidia shield Tablet K1 native resolution 1920x1200) example the gameboy have option of 4x and for the GBC it have option to make it look like the old handheld console Gameboy color , this option called LCD color mode *.* Performance- I have tested this emulator with galaxy s5 , s6 and nvidia shield tablet k1 . all of them gave me 60 fps in GBA,playstation 1 , GBC , NES, Neo-Geo , Sega . unfortunately didn't try N64 nor SNES so I don't know about these performance but most roms did work on ps1/gba/gc/nes/sega emulators however the Neo-Geo gave m some issues and not all roms did work. all roms work in zip format because classicboy will extract the game and create a folder for it which will put saves in it so u don't have to worry about unrar the games overall- it is the best emulator I have tried comes with many features , easy to use and very good price List of emulators: N64 Playstation 1 GBA GBC , GB NES Sega Neo-Geo SNES ( this doesn't not come installed and have to go to plugins tab and click new plugins it will load for few seconds and find the SNES plugin will need internet connection for that. hopefully this means in future they will add more plugins so we get more emulators) Lacking Features : the biggest thing I missed the ability to Fast forward in GBA which is a big deal to me but maybe not to everyone , but can be useful to skip these long dialog's like in pokemon games. second one is Link option this allows u to link 2 android devices to be able to Trade pokemons or challenge each other basically having a network to get multiplayer functionality. when I checked other emulators on pc and android and found such a thing is possible and they actually achieve usable level I was wondering why classicboy didn't have it and why not add it to all the other emulators so I can play playstation 1 games with my friends just install the app and the rom on their device then each one of us will play it on his own device how cool can that be. I wish you can use the system time for the emulator so ingame events like day and night changes according to your own time Second emulator Myoldboy Full quality screenshot Features: A) Saves- Same as classicboy it offers save states (snapshots ) and quick save etc.. B) Settings- it have option to adjust the screen size in very flexible way, the user can adjust the screen size simply by just selecting it and stretching the window to how big or small he/she need it to be which is not available in classicboy , in classicboy u can select fixed sizes they are presets already there in the video settings. C) controls- can map anything to any button on the controller except the triggers for some reason it doesn't register the triggers on neither my nvidia controller and the ps4 controller. it have overley controls that can adjust the size, location and hide them etc.. D ) Graphics- in video tab in settings there is GLSL option in other words game filters. the games look amazing with HQ4X which is way better than the original specially on large tablets and phones coz the original gameboy advance screen was smaller so the screen resolution would be ok with that size but not as good with tablets. it gives similar effect to classic boy 4x re-rendered resolution 1) Performance- I have tested pokemon games it felt smooth to me however the emulator doesn't have built in fps counter to show you the fps which i liked in classicboy. one thing to keep in mind the game fast forward is amazing feature but have a bug when u click to go back normal speed sometimes the game get slow with low fps so have to click options and close options to get back smooth again (sometimes have to close the game and load it back again ) 2) overall- it have the best feature in all emulators the ability to link ( over wifi and bluetooth ) which made this emulator my #1 favorite without competition . The price is 5$ which is very expinsive compared to classicboy that is 8in1 but it have the features that as far as I know no other emulator give them 1-Link / 2-fast forward 2x 3x 4x 8x 16x speeds . Lacking Features : I miss the ability to trade with myself like the VBA-M emulator on PC which is made by the same person. and that is just weird because he made it work on pc and did port the emulator to android but without some awesome features like running 2 of the same emulator to be able to trade with yourself also in pc the emulator can rom previous Gameboy roms like gameboy and gameboy color . he sell another app called my old boy that run these roms. I wish you can use the system time for the emulator so ingame events like day and night changes according to your own time (this feature is there in Drastic DS emulator ) Drastic DS it have everything that Myoldboy have but it can't link which is a bummer it almost became the perfect emulator for nintendo DS . also it can't run Gameboy advance games or any previous handheld roms. I didn't test the controllers yet , and to be honest I did rush a bit to write this hoping maybe someone will give me a way to able to link DS emulator or have a way to overcome the lack of features in every one of them. the value is very bad for this emulator it costs 8$ and can play only DS roms . lack the ability to link and playing previous generation handheld games. consclusion I use the combination of all 3 to be able to play all the games I love and get all the features I need. but in DS i still can't find a way to trade my pokemons hhh and in ps1 can't fast forward also in gameboy advance it annoys me the time settings which there is no way to adjust as far as I know

So me and some friends are planning on having a LAN party. One of the things we want to do is play some gameboy advanced or early ds games with an emulator (most likely Pokemon or Mario bro's). Does anyone know of an emulator/emulators/programs to help us do this? Also, I don't think that we need anything super powerful to run an emulator of these level of games, but the least powerful machine that will be running is a laptop with an i3 running 4400hd mobile so if anybody thinks that will be problem let me know. Thank you!

TL;DR Pretty much the title, just looking to buy all of the Gen III and IV games. Hi all, so after finding my Poke'mon Ruby cartridge and some talk about AS which one of my friends has, I've gotten back into Poke'mon, and I've decided to pretty much buy all of the Gen III and Gen IV games, all the way from FireRed and LeafGreen to HeartGold and SoulSilver. I lost pretty much my whole set of Nintendo GBA and DS games except Ruby and SoulSilver which were in my DS Lite and DSi XL respectively. So, I was wanting to know where I should go to buy these games, and if you want suggest a couple of other GBA games I should play. At the moment I'm just looking at eBay, and considering FireRed and LeafGreen for $25 total (same seller, no postage, and just the cartridges and a small plastic container). On the other hand I could buy the Gen III set for however much in a bid (there's 5 of the same order from one seller). I'd personally like to get them from a decent Specialist Store, but $20 a piece is not so nice. And yes, I realise I'm pretty much buying the same games (FireRed - LeafGreen, Pearl - Diamond), I just want to have a nice collection and be able to play through them all. I could alternatively buy them from EB Games (Aus version of GameStop). Cheers! Just because, these are the games I had before losing the case that held all my DS and GBA games.

Ok.. this is my first review No.. its not a unboxing I have gotten a Gameboy and Pokemon Blue for $40 total! I have found the device interesting looking back into the retro times. This is exciting to play considering it is the first mobile console that has a actual display(Not lights like the "Mobile Consoles" Before it. The resolution is low.. but its late 80's ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) I have had it die on me once because it came with batteries.. but I haven't even swapped.. and after that first time it died.. the battery light stay's red.. but it isn't a issue even when the battery is "low" for the most part.. I have actually have some fun with it. The sound is decent. You have a slider on the side to adjust contrast, a slider on the other side to adjust volume. On the top, you have the power switch, which is clearly labeled "<OFF-ON>" on the front corresponding to the switch on the top. On the back, you have a battery cover bay that doesn't need any screws, that leads to 4x AA batteries. So the battery light is on the front bezel. On the top of the Front bezel it says "DOT MATRIX WITH STEREO SOUND" with 2 lines on the side of that label, bottom line blue, and top line red. The Gameboy's speaker is on the bottom right. It has a 4 way pad that is mostly for moving around. It has a "START" button, a "SELECT" button, a "B" button, and a "A" button. If there was 2 more pure letter buttons, it would be very, very similar to the Super Nintendo's controller. The select and start button is below the rest of the button, lower middle. On the front, it has a blue print that says "Nintendo GAME BOY™, except the trademark symbol is on the bottom of the word "BOY" rather then the top On the back, there is detailed information.. that is on almost any product There is a slot to put games in, the picture facing out It also has some code above the information. On the right side, the side that has the volume slider, it has a "EXT. CONNECTOR" basically this lets you to do multiplayer with other Gameboy's.. Its not wireless, it all connect to a dock, up to 4 players as I believe. I don't know which games don't and do support this cool feature. On the bottom.. I haven't tested this.. but it looks like it has a 3.5mm headphone jack. On the left side above the contrast slider.. there is some AC jack.. If this help's.. there is a arrow pointing at it with the message "USE ONLY DMG-03.-05" and right behind the arrow it says(well the previous message was just above this one ) It says: DC6V ⊕-o-⊖ I have 1 complaint.. no backlight.. so you have to be in a decently lit area for nice usage I think for the time, this was great, and for a bit of fun to play old pokemon games.. considering how much you can get this for(I would recommend a color if your buying this for the actual casual gameplay ) it is great. I like it. It maybe can recharge supported batteries.. Idk what that AC jack can really do but overall, this is great, just needs 4 AA batteries, and your good to go! Thanks for reading my review, I hope you enjoyed! ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

I was quite curious as to what the LTT community could throw together using the original restraints of the GameBoy. Limited IO, limited processing capabilities, code optimization, what could be more challenging? Basically, I'm throwing together resources for the original GameBoy and, if anyone cares, I would like to see what can be programmed to actually run on GameBoy. It could be a game, calculator, music player, what have you. Emulator and Debugger: BGB (for Windows) Compiler: GBDK (GameBoy Developers Kit) Assembler: GameBoy Assembler Plus Programming documents: Straight from Nintendo "Assembly Language Commands, Timings and Opcodes, and everything you wanted to know about GB but were afraid to ask." Similar to above, not the same, but in .txt format by some of the same people. There are a lot more documents and tools than what I've listed. Please feel free to use anything, just so long as it is less than 8 MB in storage size and can operate on the proper hardware. I'd gladly update the tools and resources on request, as to create a hub for everyone and not just Windows users to be able to participate. Please link to your source, what you used to create your .gb if not linked here, and possibly the .gb itself so others may be able to play and test your application.

Huge thanks to NicksplosionFX for the amount of effort he put into making this and the quality is amazing! This is great for me as i am from 99's i never got to know these stuffs and for most of you here this will be be a huge nostalgia trip of memories,It all consist of few seconds of each games opener and obviously these are all 8 bit/chiptune and most are monochrome apart from pokemon and few others (i don't know),and they're all alphabetically ordered so it will be easier to find what you're looking for. Its 2 hours, 42 minutes if you're interested in watching the whole thing. Enjoy Ps Pokemon is at 1h53m42 Source NicksplosionFX
