  1. Hey, I'm planning to build my first gaming pc (around 800-850€) and I'm not sure if the parts I wanna buy are future proof for the next gen games which will probably rely on multiple core performance... I thought about one of these options for my build: R3 3300X & RX 5600 XT R5 3600 & RX 5600 XT R3 3300X & RX 5700. (I can't afford R5 3600 with RX 5700 and I can't find a RTX 2060 right now that is cheaper than a RX 5700 so that's not an option.) So my question would be if any of these are future proof (for at least 3 years, I won't upgrade my pc for at least for this time because I can't afford it...) or would I need better components for a future proof gaming pc? I don't plan to play many AAA titles, just a few, but I'd like to play in 1080p with 60fps or more at mid to max settings. And I would prefer it to not overclock anything if possible for a future proof pc because I don't know exactly how it works, I don't wannt to break anything and I would like my pc to live for more than just a couple of years. I'm worried about the 4c/8t of the 3300X but also about the 6GB VRAM of the 5600 XT... but as I said, I can't get the 6c/12t with 8GB VRAM option.
  2. So the previously posted post got me curious. How am I in the way of Future Proofing? I realize my GPU isn't like really up to snuff, but if I went back to an RX580 8GB card? CPU Ryzen 5 2600 Motherboard ASUS ROG STRIX X 470 F RAM T-Force 16GB 2666mhz DDR4 GPU EVGA Nividia 1060 Ti 3GB Case Rosewill Cullinan V500 Storage 1 X WD 1TB HDD 1 X Seagate 2TB HDD 1 Silicon Power 256gb SSD PSU EVGA850 BQ Display(s) HP 1920 X 1080 Monitor Acer SB220Q bi 21.5 inches Full HD Acer 1440 X 900 Monitor Cooling Enermax Liqtech III 6 Deep Cool ARGB 120MM Fans (3 On rad, 1 in the back, 2 on top.) 3. Is the new i3 9100f future proof with a good mother board + gtx 1060 / 1660 (zotac)...... Or should i get ryzen 5 3500 with rx 550 gpu and good motherboard
  4. I’m having a PC built and I’ve had to wait for a very long time to get a good gaming pc. I read a lot to inform myself going from almost zero knowledge on this topic and I’m putting almost all the money I got into this. So what do you guys think, is the i5 9600K with an Asus RTX 2080 dual oc 8Gb and 16Gb RAM a good PC, exclusively for gaming? I’m planning to use it to plug it to a 46” tv I bought trough HDMI cable to play my games like that, I think the tv is 1080p and 60 hz (dunno if that’s actually good or bad). Is it a good investment for the future as well, as in will it allow me to play new games in the coming day 10 years?
  5. So I need a GPU for my current rig: -Ryzen 5 2600 Clocked at 4GHz -2x8gb Corsair vengeance 3200Mhz -AB350M Pro4 Asrock -Bunch of HDD and fans So for my budget I can get an Rx Vega 64 from AMD side and an RTX 2060 from the NVIDIA side. For models I have chosen: -ASUS RX Vega64 ROG Strix OC, which is around 470 USD -GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 2060 Gaming OC Pro, which is around 460 USD Note: the rtx 2070 is way more expensive - 650 USD so is the Strix RTX 2060 - 510 USD I am going to use the video card for 1080p 144hz gaming and I will probably change my monitor to a new 1440p in 1 or 2 years time. Suggestion? - the Vega or RTX I know about the power consumption thing so I don`t want it as a first argument, I am looking at performace in games not my electricity bill Edit: If I get a Vega 64, I am 100% going to try the lottery of undervolting.
  6. Hello, Just opened my account on the forums. Happy to be here! I'm out of college and am saving up to build a strong PC that I can use for gaming, multitasking (I have a bad habit of leaving things open across multiple virtual desktops), doing normal work, occasional artwork as a hobby, video/music editing, and data storage. Basically, I wouldn't consider myself a daily movie and video editor, but I want to know that whatever I throw at it, the PC can handle it. Also, team red ftw. Ideal budget would be in the 1200-1500 range tops. What I've picked so far... AMD Ryzen 7 1800x CPU Cryorig H7 (non-RGB) Cooling MSI ProSeries B350M Mortar mATX Mobo ('cuz it has USB Type-C) MSI Gaming Radeon RX 580 Armor Mk2 8Gb OC EVGA 600 BQ PSU Patriot Viper DDR4 3200MHz RAM Dual-Band WiFi/Bluetooth PCI-e Adapter (simply for the sake of convenience) 4Tb Seagate Barracuda 3.5" Hard Disk for long-term data storage My Crucial MX300 750gb SSD for software and games - already have this Windows 10 (maybe pro, idk if I need the drive encryption yet) What I'm stuck on... Boot disk I'd like to get an NVMe SSD that'll provide a pretty nice speed boost for quite some time in terms of OS, and I currently have a WD Black in my laptop and I love it. I'm stuck between the equivalently-priced WD Black 250gb and Corsair MP500 120gb drives, just because I don't know how much the speed difference (2gbps vs 3gbps, respectively) will make. Case I want a Micro-ATX case that will be compact while still also offering upgradeability, like: Tecware Quad: https://www.tecware.co/quad Kolink Sanctuary: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/kolink-sanctuary-micro-atx-cube-case-black-ca-02k-kk.html Am I making a mistake looking at those? Should I consider something like a mini tower instead? My primary goal case-wise is small form factor, high density, while still offering good thermals and performance. Cooling It seems that liquid cooling is a popular choice for Ryzen users. I am open to any solution, but I chose air cooling for its lower price and lower failure risk mechanically. Plus, I've heard that AIOs tend to need replacement once in a few years. I'd like to avoid that problem, if possible. GPU I am definitely a Radeon guy, and like everyone else, I'm trying to find something that's feasible for long-term use at a low price. Does this mean changing to the 4gb card instead of 8gb? What about a different gpu model? Also, crossfire? Future-proofing Yeah, maybe there's no such thing. But, I'd like to make a machine with a powerful, competent CPU. I'm willing to accept that I may need to swap out the GPU once in a few years, but I'd like to invest in worthwhile, long-life components so I can hang onto that machine for at least 5 to 10 years. So, that's my plan. Any thoughts? PC Part Picker link: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/xLZnGG
  7. My cpu is E5 1620 v2, currently running with a gtx 1060 6gb Asus Dual OC. I want to play games at around 2k or 4k and was wondering which upgrades my pc needs. so will my cpu bottle neck a gtx 1080?
  8. Hi, Im planning to build a new pc gaming for 1080p display, This is my build : Motherboard ASUS H81M-E CPU i3 4150 with Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO GPU MSI GTX 960 2GD5T OC RAM CORSAIR VENGEANCE BLACK 8GB (1X8) i choose one singgle channel ram because i want to upgrade later if necessary HDD WDC 1TB CAVIAR BLUE SSD SAMSUNG 850 EVO 120GB PSU SEASONIC M12II-520 520W MODULAR - BRONZE CASE NZXT SOURCE 210 (NOT ELITE EDITION BECAUSE THE MOBO NOT SUPPORT 3.0 FRONT PANEL USB) ASUS DVD RW WINDOWS 8.1 WITH LG 21.5" INCH MONITOR IPS PANEL I want to ask is this good build for 4 year playing brand new game for medium setting at 40+ fps? Is the CPU not bottlenecking? Should I change the CPU to i5 4460? OR should I change the CPU,GPU (to 970), and the MOBO( to h97 if necesarry)? THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP, ANDDDDDDD SORRY FOR BAD ENGLISH
  9. Greetings reader, I'm planning on upgrading or in other words replacing parts of my rig because i just damaged my MOBO(Gigabyte*something*) and CPU(AMD Phenom II X6 Processor). I was using the CM 690 II case with Cooler Master GX650 power supply and Corsair H100 for CPU cooler and i want to continue using them. I don't plan on changing my HDD, Optical drive, case fans or other little things. Before we begin i need you, the reader to know that :- *I always prefer Intel over AMD and Nvidia over ATI. I don't want to start a war, it's just my preference.BTW, i was using the above mentioned AMD processor and ATI 6850 before so i'm not being biased or anything. *I don't plan on overclocking. 1. For CPU i was thinking of going with the new Skylake processor 6600 or 6600K. I'm not sure which one to go for. 2. For MOBO i was thinking of going with Gigabyte Z170 D3H because my senior colleague advised me to go for Gigabyte's 'Ultra Durable' motherboards. I want to stick around $200 or so and i'm also open for other suggestions. -I will need 16GB DDR4 or may be more for the upgrade. But 16GB is a good start. -In the future, not the near future, i plan on using a Nvidia Quadro card too along with a GTX for rendering purposes as i'm an architect and i also work on 3Ds and graphics. So that means i need two PCI ex slots. Not one of the strong requirements but yea, i would like that. -I will need the motherboard to be strong and reliable for the long run. -I'm willing to spend $200-$250 or so for the MOBO. 3. For GPU i'm confused between GTX 760 2GB and GTX 960 4GB. GTX970 or above goes above my budget. As mentioned above along with playing games i would i also like to render and work on 2D and 3D applications even before instaling the Quadro(later future add-on). I would really appreciate you someone can help me out in my quest.
  10. Hey, I have been watching Linus Tech Tips for 2 months now after being linked to the . Great videos and live streams, great knowledge base for PC building from what I have seen. Budget: £1400 Location: London, UK Aim: I have finished university and I am going to focus more on video production which will include 3D work from time-to-time. So I want a quiet, video production build with future proofing in mind. I mainly play MineCraft but the focus of this build needs to be for Video Production, although the upcoming games I am planning to play are Total War: Rome II, Civ5, COH2, GTAV, Battlefield 4, Saints Row 4, maybe Titanfall. Monitors: 2 for now but eventually a 3-screen bezel layout for workplace efficiency. Peripherals: I am okay for Keyboard & Mice for now, but I am thinking about the Razer Deathadder 2013 because I owned the original before I was robbed. For a keyboard, maybe Ducky Shine II keyboard with Cherry MX Brown keys, even the Shine III coming soon. For the software I am aiming to get Windows 7 Professional instead of Home Premium so I have the option to get 32GB RAM or more. Why upgrading? I got a custom PC from PCSpecialist nearly 10 years ago and it has aged a lot, so it won't handle video production tasks and even Company of Heroes 1. A future-proof orientated build is necessary so I can upgrade when I can to spend more on one part than a few compatible ones. Latest Initial Build: AMD FX-8350 4.0GHz 8-Core Processor (Hyper-threading an advantage for video production and future of gaming processing) Noctua NH-U12P SE2 54.4 CFM CPU Cooler (40mm CPU clearance & quiet) Asus SABERTOOTH 990FX R2.0 ATX AM3+ Motherboard (more reliable than formula) G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 16GB (4 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory (40mm height) Toshiba 3TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive EVGA GeForce GTX 660 2GB Video Card Asus Xonar DSX 24-bit 192 KHz Sound Card (don't want to reply on the on-board sound card) NZXT Phantom (White/Red) ATX Full Tower Case (gorgeous case, fell in love) NZXT Air Flow Series 83.6 CFM 140mm Fan (related to the red trim) NZXT FS-200RB-RLED 89.5 CFM 200mm Fan (related to the red trim) NZXT HALE 90 850W 80 PLUS Gold Certified ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply (reliable & efficient) Lite-On iHAS124-04 DVD/CD Writer (just in case) Microsoft Windows 7 Professional SP1 (OEM) (64-bit) (RAM can be 32GB or more) 2x Acer H236HLBmjd 23 inch Widescreen IPS LED Monitors (thin edges, good for bezel layout) Any help would be greatly appreciated, been researching to make this good for nearly 2 months now. First time building my own PC, so I'm nervous but have a year of ICT experience to be sure to build one for myself.
  11. Hey guys, I posted my previous build already, I'll link it when I find the post Also, total budget is 2k-2,200 at max for the base build, and 4k-6k for the Dominator upgrade. I'm considering this build because for the price of one 980Ti I can get two GTX 970's, or just get one 970 and get a second one later, while saving up for a more powerful upgrade (Hint Hint, Dominator ^.^ Here's the list GTX 970 (Possible SLI later)- PCPartPicker part list: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/nJqf3C CPU: Intel Core i7-4790K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor (Purchased For $376.12) CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($29.44 @ Amazon) Motherboard: Asus SABERTOOTH Z97 MARK 1/USB 3.1 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard (Purchased For $236.00) Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory (Purchased For $85.95) Storage: Samsung 850 EVO-Series 250GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($84.89 @ OutletPC) Storage: Western Digital BLACK SERIES 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($73.89 @ OutletPC) Video Card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 970 4GB Video Card ($378.99 @ SuperBiiz) Case: NZXT Phantom (Black/Green) ATX Full Tower Case (Purchased For $118.11) Power Supply: EVGA SuperNOVA NEX 750W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply (Purchased For $79.99) Optical Drive: Asus DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS DVD/CD Writer ($17.78 @ OutletPC) Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 Home OEM (64-bit) ($89.99 @ NCIX US) Case Fan: Cooler Master SickleFlow 69.7 CFM 120mm Fan (Purchased For $9.99) Case Fan: Cooler Master SickleFlow 69.7 CFM 120mm Fan (Purchased For $9.99) Case Fan: Cooler Master SickleFlow 69.7 CFM 120mm Fan (Purchased For $9.99) Case Fan: BitFenix Spectre Pro LED 148.7 CFM 200mm Fan (Purchased For $26.24) Case Fan: BitFenix Spectre Pro LED 148.7 CFM 200mm Fan (Purchased For $26.24) Case Fan: BitFenix Spectre Pro LED 86.7 CFM 140mm Fan (Purchased For $16.90) Mouse: Logitech G502 Wired Optical Mouse ($79.00 @ Logitech) Total: $1749.50 GTX 980Ti (For a single-GPU system, no SLI)- PCPartPicker part list: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/c4RXxr CPU: Intel Core i7-4790K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor (Purchased For $376.12) CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($29.44 @ Amazon) Motherboard: Asus SABERTOOTH Z97 MARK 1/USB 3.1 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard (Purchased For $236.00) Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory (Purchased For $85.95) Storage: Samsung 850 EVO-Series 250GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($84.89 @ OutletPC) Storage: Western Digital BLACK SERIES 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($73.89 @ OutletPC) Video Card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6GB Video Card ($688.99 @ SuperBiiz) Case: NZXT Phantom (Black/Green) ATX Full Tower Case (Purchased For $118.11) Power Supply: EVGA SuperNOVA NEX 750W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply (Purchased For $79.99) Optical Drive: Asus DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS DVD/CD Writer ($17.78 @ OutletPC) Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 Home OEM (64-bit) ($89.99 @ NCIX US) Case Fan: Cooler Master SickleFlow 69.7 CFM 120mm Fan (Purchased For $9.99) Case Fan: Cooler Master SickleFlow 69.7 CFM 120mm Fan (Purchased For $9.99) Case Fan: Cooler Master SickleFlow 69.7 CFM 120mm Fan (Purchased For $9.99) Case Fan: BitFenix Spectre Pro LED 148.7 CFM 200mm Fan (Purchased For $26.24) Case Fan: BitFenix Spectre Pro LED 148.7 CFM 200mm Fan (Purchased For $26.24) Case Fan: BitFenix Spectre Pro LED 86.7 CFM 140mm Fan (Purchased For $16.90) Mouse: Logitech G502 Wired Optical Mouse ($79.00 @ Logitech) Total: $2059.50 And the Finale, my Dominator upgrade (Which will not include storage, as the previous SSD and hard drive as well as OS and DVD drive will carry over)- PCPartPicker part list: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/X3BRQ7 CPU: Intel Core i7-5960X 3.0GHz 8-Core Processor ($999.99 @ SuperBiiz) CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i GTX 70.7 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler ($102.88 @ Amazon) Motherboard: Asus SABERTOOTH X99 ATX LGA2011-3 Motherboard ($308.99 @ SuperBiiz) Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 64GB (8 x 8GB) DDR4-2400 Memory ($437.35 @ Amazon) Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX Titan X 12GB Superclocked Video Card (2-Way SLI) ($1028.99 @ B&H) Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX Titan X 12GB Superclocked Video Card (2-Way SLI) ($1028.99 @ B&H) Case: NZXT Phantom (Black/Green) ATX Full Tower Case (Purchased For $118.11) Power Supply: EVGA SuperNOVA 1000 P2 1000W 80+ Platinum Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply ($186.99 @ SuperBiiz) Case Fan: Cooler Master SickleFlow 69.7 CFM 120mm Fan (Purchased For $9.99) Case Fan: Cooler Master SickleFlow 69.7 CFM 120mm Fan (Purchased For $9.99) Case Fan: Cooler Master SickleFlow 69.7 CFM 120mm Fan (Purchased For $9.99) Case Fan: BitFenix Spectre Pro LED 148.7 CFM 200mm Fan (Purchased For $26.24) Case Fan: BitFenix Spectre Pro LED 148.7 CFM 200mm Fan (Purchased For $26.24) Case Fan: BitFenix Spectre Pro LED 86.7 CFM 140mm Fan (Purchased For $16.90) Total: $4311.64 What do you guys think? 12. So this is my first real PC build, i'm looking to put something together that will tackle anything I throw at it while not going over the top with price. i'm interested in 4k gaming and media streaming as well as VR and eventually down the track I want to look at custom water loops and serious overclocking, so I will need something that can be expandable and is fairly future proof. This is my current parts list, just looking for some opinions and maybe suggestions of changes from more knowledgeable peeps. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/svsmpb
  13. Hey guys (*this is Austin*), I really need some help deciding which graphics card to buy for an old AMD rig I want to update. I don't necessarily have a true budget for the card, but I am looking to get the best price to performance ratio I can get from a higher tier card. I also want my card to last a few years maxing most games (especially keeping in mind their driver support and developer support, i.e. nvidia lately) as my 1080p monitor life dies out. I'm open to suggestions, even cards like the new R9 Fury.
  14. I'm building a new rig soon and I was wondering if anyone has any advice/an opinion on GPU and CPU choice. The current build I am planning involves an i7-4790k and an MSI GTX980. http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/X4vKQ7 What do you think of the price to performance difference between an i5-4690k and an i7-4790k? What do you think of the price to performance difference between an MSI GTX 970 and an MSI GTX 980? Is the extra money I am thinking of spending worth it to "future-proof" my build more? Or am I wasting my money for not much of a boost in performance? At the moment it's around a £300 increase to get the i7 980 over the i5 970. Should I get a different combination e.g. i5 980? Any advice or opinions will be appreciated! Edit: Whilst I'm here, does the 360mm AIO seem overkill? Should i just get a 240mm or 280mm instead? Rig to be used for gaming at 1440p and then maybe 4k in a few years if I can afford to add a second GPU. Thanks for the advice guys: general consensus seems to be that i7 is overkill for gaming but 980 is nice if you have the cash. Any advice on the watercooling issue?
  15. Hi LTT community! In two weeks I'll be purchasing a build which I'll use mostly for gaming(civ/cities skylines/space and medieval engineers/dragon age etc) and HD video editing(Adobe suite). I've decided to future proof as much as I can afford so I can edit in 4K up to a point and perhaps do some Cinema 4D or after effects stuff. Below is a link to my chosen components (over at pc part picker). Mostly HD, maybe 4K. Equal editing and gaming. I'm pretty much settled about this build at this point, after a few months of researching and watching a lot of LTT, but what I was wondering is, does anybody have any suggestions on how I could improve this build? While staying within my £2350 budget and keeping in mind I'll use this equally for gaming and visual media stuff. Lastly, If any of you have or are planning to build a PC suited for similar tasks as myself I'd like to know what you have chosen and why. Thanks! Hazmus
  16. Thinking about buying the ASUS G751 with a 970m, plan to keep it for ~4 years, would like to only upgrade the GPU maybe once, will 3gb of VRAM be enough for at least medium settings on 1080p for a while?
  17. Hi all, I've been contemplating picking up two EVGA 780Ti 3GB Classified Editions and was wondering if I would be able to play most games on 1440p maxed at 60fps for the near future. The question I had was should I hold off until the 780Ti 6GB comes out (if at all)? Thanks, Crispy Post Script: http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-Dual-Link-Graphics-03G-P4-2888-KR/dp/B00H9ZRCBO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1401641695&sr=8-1&keywords=780ti+classified
  18. So im at a loss here. I cant decide between http://www.aorus.com/Product/Features/X5 v6 or https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00RYZ6INW/ref=crt_ewc_img_gw_4?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER along with a 1080... My budget is around $2000 and I make and edit a good bit of footage. Im tilted towards the Aorus because of the "Stream engine" which basically seems like a built in capture card making my streams and recording seem alot less dependent on taking control of the cpu or gpu. Please help a guy by leaving opinions as I never fully trust my own.
  19. So after hours of researching.. I've decided to go with Intel for my Cpu rather than AMD as there were rumours that they are gping to kill AM3 + socket . When I build my rig... I want it to last for 5 to 6 years . But I'm confused whether to go with lga 1151 or lga 1156 or lga 2011v3 Other parts Gpu Rx480 8Gb for 2 years and then buy another one and run them in crossfire RAM 2x8GB DDRR4
  20. "My main goal is to get a list and some knowledge down before black friday and cyber monday hit. Uses for computer will focus on music. I use studio one as my DAW. I will want to be able to edit 4k videos on this machine, but would like to keep cost of video card low if possible because I won't be doing video very often. My budget will peak near 2,000 US$ assuming I can save a few hundred here and there with sales. Future expansion is a huge plus for me, so if you can convince me to get quality stuff, I'll pay forward for it. If it goes a little over 2000, thats ok." So I posted something similar to this on PCPARTPICKER without too much luck because it seems like 90% of builders are focused on gaming. Don't include a monitor in the build, but keep and mind that I want to run 3440x1440. After doing more research, I think my focus should be on the MOBO and Processor to be future proof. MOBO: 2 slots for video cards, capable of running 64 GB RAM, firewire or any other ports that would helpful. I'm assuming I'll want an I7 processor. RAM for the time being 32 GB should be fine? The case is important too of course, Ive considered the be quiet 600 and the fractal designs R5, but would consider anything. It can be large if it helps. As for the video card, people have recommended the Geforce 1070, but thats as spendy as I would like to get if possible. something cheaper would be nice to focus on other key components, but I'm not sure how the ultra wide and wanting 4k capabilities will affect things. Dont worry about keyboard and mouse and I'm upgrading from an old laptop BTW. Hopefully this is comprehensive and I look forward to any input.
  21. (Europe ALL SM-G930F) that is what i see mostly. ( it supports root and twrp). Hmmm but SM-G930??? no info on it
  22. Hi guys I'm searching for a am4 CPU alternatives of ryzen cpu B350 am4 mobo I need a cpu with igpu An APU ????? Thanks for upcoming help Peace
  23. i m going to build a new pc with i7 8700kgtx 1070z370 motherboard16gb ddr4 3000mhzcorsair vs650w psu2tb hddi m going to use this rig mainly for gaming by pairing it with a 144hz samsung monitormy question is that ,how future proof is my rig ?
  24. Hi there! I've got a dillema: Which config should I choose? 1) MSI B85-G43 DDR3 LGA1150 Intel Core i7-4790K HyperX DDR3 2x 4GB 1600 MHz CL10 FURY Red 2) MSI X99A RAIDER s2011-3 X99A DDR4 RAID/USB3.1 A Intel Core i7-5820K 2X Kingston HyperX FURY DDR4 DIMM 4GB 2666MHz #1 is well established config that performs superb in all the benchmarks I've seen and, from what I've heard, it should be more than enough for current home PC applications ( even faster than newer #2 ) It's much cheaper, too, and cutting some costs would be good for me. On the other hand, #2 seems to be more future-proof. It has more recent CPU socket, DDR4 compatibility, and I guess it will be more upgrade-able in the future. Should I be concerned about it? What's the real difference between DDR4 and DDR3, besides power-savings important for large server farms? Will LGA1150 socket become obsolete? Will LGA2011-3 supersede it altogether? I'm using my PC for work (with text, programming), some amateur multimedia editing and gaming. And I'm using Linux as my only OS. I'm aware that both of those are overkill for my needs, but I want to acquire a build that would last for at least another few years. Poor people can not afford cheap stuff. Thanks in advance for every advice! Cheers!
