Today i got a 144hz free sync monitor and I was wondering why all my games are limited to 60fps. I most frequent Overwatch and my GTX1080 can easily hack more than 60fps. I have Gsync setting turned on in the actual game, and the frame rate is limited to the displays output, but it's still limited to 60fps. How can I get it to more? Not that the human eye can see past 30fps, but still help <3

I have recently bought an 144Hz 1080p Samsung curved monitor which has AMD free sync technology. I am planning to build a new PC. I am planning to buy Nvidia GTX 1080. Does freesync technology matter a lot in terms of performance. How are AMD graphics card for gaming performance. Which graphics card should I buy if I should buy AMD GPU. My budget for GPU is around 500$(in my country GPU are 50-100$ expensive than in US so my actual budget is 550$).

i am getting a monitor that dosent have free or g sync i have a gtx 1060 anyone know how to get rid of screen tearing?

Hello Linustechtips community! I need your help again, but this time for choosing the right gaming monitor for myself. Without much talking or writing straight to the question. As the title says i am trying to figure out if g-sync technology really benefits the gaming performance, or is it just another gimmick from the manufacturers to make more money from folks like me. A couple of months ago i had the opportunity to try Asus PG279Q, but unfortunately due to BLB and some funny lines in the middle of the display i had to return it to the shop. Dont get me wrong it is a good monitor but for this amount of money i would like to have a monitor which wont throw me some funny lines on the edge and the middle of the screen. I am using gtx 1080 and thats why i was searching for a g-sync 1440p 144hz gaming panel (i believe it was a good match to my gpu), but today all of a sudden i came across this panel BenQ XL2735 which neither supports G-Sync or Free-Sync. I read a couple of reviews and found out that people remained generally very satisfied with it, regardless of the gpus they were using AMD or Nvidia. So I am wondering, is gsync just another marketing trick? Will vsync do just fine until something really revolutionair comes out, or there is a weighty difference between vsync vs gsync vs nosync and once i have Nvidia gpu i would better stick to gsync? Thanks a lot in advance. Any advices are very appreciated (links of reviews, videos, or just personal opinion)

I have an older machine (Nvidia GTX 970) which I have been wanting to replace for awhile now but just thought Nvidia's range of RTX cards are just too expensive but now I have seen AMD's new line up of Radeon videocards (RX 5700) due to be released next month. Which I think is extremely competitive on price. I currently have a Predator X34 ultra wide monitor with G-sync. Does this mean should I stick with Nvidia cards on my next build? I don't want to get bogged down in the details of AMD vs Nvidia I would just like to get a current card so my games will run better.

Hi fellow gamers. Im over thinking myself. i have an MSI Optix AG32CQ its a perfect monitor with everything. From what I know he has nothing of g sync compatible even if MSI Comfirming this. I set g sync on in Nvidia control panel there is a bubble that says not compatible. i think I need to set freesync on on the monitor screen?! sorry its so confusing all this. They said in store today that I can use the g sync with a file. But How? https://www.coolblue.be/nl/product/822423/msi-optix-ag32cq.html Im looking for an 30, 32inch monitor with min 100 hz 1440p. g sync or free sync (that can run g sync with a manual How I can solve the problem) curved if possible. Tnx if u can make me think if it a little more.

I know the Vega 56 is very competent at 1440p mid-settings-high and excellent at 1080p ultra. I'm thinking probably to go with this (https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/J47v6h/viewsonic-vx2458-mhd-236-1920x1080-144-hz-monitor-vx2458-mhd) "ViewSonic - VX2458-mhd 23.6" 1920x1080 144 Hz Monitor" with Free Sync but all the 1440p 120/144hz displays with Free Sync, cost around $300, do you think its worth the upgrade? And if so do you know of any particularly good deals (around $200ish) Thanks,

Hey guys, I am curious if it really makes a difference to have a monitor that has VRR, especially when G-Sync is turned on already. Is it better to have that feature too? Thanks in advance.

So TLDR version, i have a great deal on an RTX 2070, its for 620$ and since im in europe that is a banging deal. So im planning to buy a 144hz 1440p monitor and it does have free sync but no g sync. What my question is, should i go with the RTX 2070 and get better performance, or go with the vega 56 and lose performance but have the adaptive sync. Keep in mind vega is quite old now, and just like the 980 Ti and the 1080, as it gets older it will get slower. The specs are: 16GBs of 3000mhz ram R5 2600 Ocied at 3.8/9 so i think it can run fairly optimised games like BF 1 and 5 over 100Fps even at 1440p. What to choose? Help me out

so im finally getting my vega build, i want to get the AOC AG241QX, 144hz 1440p free sync, so pretty good. But i cant really seem to god damn make him think that its better, there was another monitor with 4Kbut 60hz and i want to go for the 1440p 144hz. His discussion is that 4K is better then 1440p (Yes for quality) But when you bring up Hz its the "The human eye cant see that much Hz" And his most used argument is that AOC is a shit company and because its not known its gonna break when the warranty is kaputt. HELP!!!

My friend is having an interesting issue with his awesome computer. He has a 6600K and a GTX 970. He plays with dual monitors, a really crappy dell and a samsung free sync monitor. The issue my friend is having is that he is getting 59fps and micro stutters in every game and with/without v-sync. He does not play with free sync on. Nothing in the nvidia control panel helps, and the issue is corrected when he is only running the samsung monitor. The dell is connected via DVI and the samsung via display port.

Would I get a lot of screen tear if I used this monitor instead of a g sync monitor? I am going from a 900p monitor to a 1080p monitor and want to make sure I won't have a problem.

Hey All! First post so I am coming here for help. I just picked up a GTX 1060 6gb for the low price of $130 CAD with the intention to flip it, but I am thinking I might just put it in my rig. (R5 2600, 16Gb DDR4, RX 570 8G) I was wondering if it would be worth it to put the 1060 in my pc instead of my current RX 570 8G because I would be losing out on the Free sync from my monitor. (144 hz) Can anyone let me know if the trade off of raw performance for free sync would be worth it? Thanks! (Would be mostly gaming. I play games such as GTA V, BFV, CS:GO, Minecraft, Overwatch, R6S, and D2)

Hello! , i want to purchase a new monitor for my PC is not cutting it , I want to purchase a gaming monitor that's 120hz or 144hz , im done with 60hz and would like to upgrade , i have a AMD R9 390 GPU , and i heard that a Free Sync screen is better than a G-sync for AMD users , but i dont know very much about pc screens and would like suggestions , If someone can help me find the cheapest one that you can buy for pc gaming , i would very much appreciate it!!! Things im looking for if possible = Free Sync (or G-Sync Which ever works best with my GPU) Anything higher than 60hz (120hz or 144hz *preferred*) Price : (Lowest you can find for a budget) but will save more money if theres a better option ) Could use as many options as possible , And thanks for the help!!

So I am picking up the LG 34UM67-P 34” from newegg just because it was on sale. And I have been doing a lot of research about it. So I didn't even realize it had free sync technology and I know I don't have to use it but will the overall performance be determined by that? I have a gtx 980 SC from EVGA. Will it still run that screen resolution without the need of free sync? Anyone else have this monitor or any similar questions/issues.

Samsung has just released 2 curved gaming monitors. It comes with AMD Free Sync and features Quantum Dot Technology. https://www.techpowerup.com/225377/samsung-launches-two-new-curved-gaming-monitors https://news.samsung.com/global/samsung-electronics-to-change-the-game-at-ifa-2016-with-reveal-of-new-quantum-dot-curved-monitors

Anyone like me that like to not pull the trigger on a "bad" purchase going to go nuts trying to find the right monitor... Why you may ask? (Title is a hint to why) Me like most of you watching LMG was here when the first videos on G Sync and Free Sync was posted. And 1-2 years later I'm sad to say it's still sucks... If a consumer today is going to buy anything with enuf horsepower to play games above 1080p 60hz it's stupid to not buy a new monitor. But if you are going the Nividia way you are screwed :C Like "ALL" monitors are focust on Free Sync. And the G Sync ones even if cost is not a problem SUCKS*. * Due to the lack of options and quality of this monitors. Like Asus most expensive montiors die after 6months, DELL of all offers a G sync monitor? What !!? All the monitors I find being anything woth my money is free sync. And that's not due to the extra cost of a G Sync modular, not att all !. But the image quality and reliability is piss poor vs the free sync ones. It's funny how the monitor options are turning me away from Nividia. Even if I don't like the hole topic to be about Nividia and AMD I hate how AMD is all over Nividia on this one. Nividia was first out with G sync. And still Free Sync is the killer! It brakes me as a consumer that like to get off the AMD train to have a problem finding a worthy monitor..... And it sounds like Nividia only need to add Free Sync into the drivers to make ones like me make the move? Do anyone belive Nividia is going to give in? If that happens G Sync is going to die... = why I don't like to buy one... It's a interesting problem. But what do you all belive? Is Nividia forcing me to go AMD for fun???

Hey i had a question considering my Monitor setup. Since having bought a new Pc i'm using to monitors. Nr.1 Acer xf240h amd free sync 1920*1080 and nr.2 Symsung sync master 1650*1080. When opening up to Streams or Games or Videos i sometimes noticed awful lag on one of the two Monitors. Does anyone know how to have no delays ever on the screens?

So, I am upgrading my monitor and gpu soon. Firstly, I want to get a 980ti but the monitor I can afford makes that less easy to commit to. I want an ultrawide but the only one I found around 500 with a better than 60hz refresh rate is the lg34um67: http://www.amazon.com/LG-Electronics-34UM67-34-Inch-LED-lit/dp/B00VBNQJSM/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1446183388&sr=1-1&keywords=lg34um67 So it has freesync, which I know nvidia won't support. I'm thinking I could get 390s in crossfire? Not as ideal as the 980ti, but at least I could utilize the freesync. Is freesync worth it, is there another ultrawide with gsync that isn't more than 550 usd? I guess my only other option would be to get a decent 16:9 monitor with gsync and a 980ti, but I was pretty excited about the ultrawide... Thanks in advance for the advice guys!

Is there a free sync version of this monitor.... Acer? Or something that is very similar to it? 27 inch IPS 144hz and etc... And what do you think is the best 24 inch 144hz TN monitor out there? I'm thinking of getting one of these for my lil brother as a b-day gift. He thinks he's a professional gamer and all that lmao...

hey guys I currently have a 1080p 27" ips Benq gw2750hm and it has some of the best color and black levels i have ever seen, however i do notice a lot of ghosting and since iv had it for a few years i feel it is time to upgrade. iv been looking into some 1440p TN panels with free sync but the only thing stopping me is what iv heard about TN panels having bad color accuracy. so i was wondering what you guys think. is the color accuracy really that bad and does the higher resolution and refresh rate make up for it? any comments would be greatly appreciated. thanks

I would like to preface this small rant by saying that I see the obviously tangible benefits of both of these (nearly identical) technologies and am not bashing either of them, but I am bashing their implementation and the anti-consumer system that they effectively put into place. As many of you are already aware, Nvidia G-Sync has been out for a while and now AMD FreeSync will be hitting the marketplace shortly. These new technologies are without a doubt game changers that will eliminate both input lag and screen tearing, but I won't be jumping on board with these new technologies in the near future, distant future, or maybe even ever. Why? Because both of these technologies will force you to stay with one particular brand of GPU, effectively allowing both AMD and Nvidia to lock in their customers when they buy one of the G-Sync or FreeSync displays. This is incredibly anti-competitive and greedy on the parts of these two companies. I refuse to buy into either of these technologies because I am GPU agnostic and will buy a pair of whatever GPUs give me the highest framerates and lowest frametimes. I don't care whether or not it comes from team green or team red, I just want the damn thing to preform and I outright refuse to be locked into a certain brand of GPU because the competitor's GPU won give me the full functionality of my monitor. I refuse to award companies with my money when they actively try to fuck me over. What are the LTT forum's thoughts? Agree/Disagree with me? I'd love to hear what you guys think!
