Some local apps and sites use this type of dialog box to 'login'. I know in the past I've been able to save my username and password, but it isn't working anymore. Any ideas on how to make that full proof and work again? Probably was with whatever version of chrome of Firefox I was using 2 or 3 years ago, but not since. I normally daily drive edge since it went chromium based but I use Opera and Chrome a bit as well.

I think Microsoft edge is a perfectly good browser and chrome is overrated. It hogs my memory anyway. Why does edge get so much hate?

As the title says, I need to BLOCK And permanently stop Microsoft Edge and Webview2 Runtime from auto-installing. I don't need it, I don't use, and I want a tight hold on my machine. SO WHAT do I need to do to permanently stop this shit from installing. Please help me find a way. Thank you.

Hi. I'm taking my first steps with my new Synology DS220+ and I have a quick trouble accessing the DSM portal with my browser Edge. All the users accounts are registered in Edge memory, it recalls the accounts when I log in but it wont fill in the passwords so I have to go and copy paste them every time from the settings window, which is now very often while I'm setting everything up. Is there a way to make it recall them automatically like it does with anything else? Now if I log in with more new users I'm creating I'm not even getting prompted to remember the new accounts. Does this has anything to do with the fact that edge is warning the the connection to this page is not safe? Thanks.

I'm having a problem with 2 browsers already, Edge which was my default browser and now Chrome. I just had to switch because it was making my life HELL! I'm setting up a new Synology NAS and the damn passwords I chose for every user are long and secure as they should be but entering each account every time got extremely annoying because I had to do a separate Excel to save the accounts to copy and paste every time because the stupid browesers, both of them wont remember the users and passwords. Edge just remembered it the first time but than I had to make adjustments cancel some users and make some new ones and the latter are not being remembered so no autofill for me. I'm noticing a trend. The page I have to enter to log into the nas is recognized by the NAS as unsecure and wont let me in unless I expressly accept. Is that the reason why it wont remember accounts? I can I correct and bypass this? Thank you.

Hi all, hope everyone is safe and well on this hot and humid day in Japan. I've been thinking about this over the last few days as I was turning off cortana and telemetry/metrics in windows 10 on my work laptop and was wondering if and how much telemetry/metric gathering and cortana will be in windows 11 and will it be able to be disabled completely? Also what is the difference between a local account and logging into your Hotmail account? The get even more out of windows thing? Oh and edge, is it worth using? Cheers all

Issue started a few months ago just before I started college, but only has become annoying when my sleep timings became horrible. Every night at 01:07 (GMT) a new tab opens with www.google.com for reason i can think of, my search engine of choice is duckduckgo so I've clue clue why its doing this, and I want it to stop as it feels like google hates me for ditching them. Anyone have any ideas on how to solve this issue? Thanks in advance

I might live under a rock but I truly hate Microsoft Edge. It makes me instantly become a truly hateful person. Microsoft, come on you have some extremely smart (mostly) people working to make Windows a great experience that just works. But when you shove Edge down my throat it makes me truly appreciate that I have a Mac and can escape this hell. If I set my default browser to Chrome USE CHROME. IF I SET CHROME AS A DEFAULT BROWSER DEAR GOD DON'T USE EDGE WHEN SEARCHING FROM THE START MENU. I love chrome not Edge, anyways does anyone know how to fix this? I would like to kill Edge but I don't know how. (Im on Windows 10 using a Mac running Boot camp)

While watching the 10/7/2022 WAN Show, at 1:40:26, Luke mentioned his annoyance with how Windows 10 will search bing while searching local indexed files. I've wasted quite a lot of time accidentally launching a bing search instead of finding the folder/file I know exists on my pc. So, after years of thinking that this "feature" sucks, I did a quick google search, "disable windows 10 search on edge" and looked at https://www.techbout.com/disable-web-results-in-windows-search-44034/. It's done, no more opening edge by accident. I followed step two, and it immediately worked; definitely worth a look if you have been a victim of an accidental bing search. Go check out the website but ill give a quick how-to here. Disclaimer, I'd always recommend backing up your registry before messing around with it. Open Registry Editor HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Search Right-click Search and click New, pick a DWORD (32-bit) & Name it BingSearchEnabled & make sure that you set the value to 0 Done & Enjoy!

Been suffering this for months - if my PC sleeps for a long time(hours), when I wake him up, all my peripherals light up but my monitor stays unconscious(I later found out it was a BSOD).. I've been looking for a solution everywhere but had no luck. All the articles are suggesting to reinstall driver or entire OS, and none of them helped. Yesterday I tried below and found the culprit and finally my PC can have a good nap without waking up dead: after a reboot from BSOD, go to %SystemRoot% and find the Memory.DMP file download Windbg, only need to install the debugger, leave the others unticked follow the instructions HERE. double click the .dmp file, watch a linus tech tip video, then come back read the debug info, what I had is: see the red bold underlined part? the process that caused the BSOD is Microsoft Edge, that's my default browser I must've left it open when my PC goes to sleep. then I closed Edge and all it's related background process, put my PC to sleep for a whole night, and this morning it wakes up!!! I still don't understand why Microsoft Edge can cause a failure of dxgmms2.sys, and I have the latest nVidia graphics card driver installed. Now I have installed Chrome and hope this never happen again. Hope this can help any Microsoft Edge users who's been having trouble waking up their PC. I am trying out Edge and every other website is working great but when I come here and attempt to sign in using Google like I signed up it says "something went wrong" - it's not the end of the world but either it's an issue on my end I'd like to fix or it's an issue server side you might want to fix. If it's something on my end I have no idea what or why

Hi Tech Enthusiasts, I encountered this issue today and felt compelled to find somewhere to discuss the topic and try to raise awareness so this is my first post on the forum. Recently, I discovered that Microsoft Edge has a reasonably new feature called "Visual Search" which hard-codes in the browser (not website html) a button overlay that displays on images on your website. This button does the bing equivalent of "Google image search" and displays a sidebar with search results including shopping listings for visually similar items. It is now on by default and whilst individual users can opt to turn it off, as a website owner / developer you have no control over this element. This appears to have been a feature since version 96 of edge but perhaps it wasn't so obvious until Microsoft added Sidebar recently in Version 107. An example from lttstore.com: Quotes My thoughts Personally I'm quite frustrated by the intrusion. As I'm responsible for a number of small business e-commerce sites this presents a number of problems and sets a bad precedent for browser companies to inject their own advertising into privately owned websites. (They have also recently done this for the Chrome download website). We invested heavily into creating approved designs and layouts for our various brands/sites and this is being modified by factors outside our control for users on Windows' default browser. Microsoft is essentially forcing competitor advertising into our websites. There is no recourse for me to remove the functionality, no analytics for what referral traffic I'm generating for other businesses and no reimbursement for paid ad clicks generated. Interestingly enough, there appears to be hardcoded exclusions. For example the feature is disabled when image searching on google.com (presumably to avoid litigation) but you can trick the browser into showing the feature by proxying the google image search through the translate tool which goes to show it's just a domain whitelist. This feels anti-competitive and I'm wondering if its even legal? Is this what we can look forward to expecting from Microsoft / Bing / GPT results in the future? Don't get me wrong, the user should always have the choice to do an image search (this has been a feature in chrome's right click context menu on images forever) but it should not be possible to inject/overlay/alter information on an otherwise privately owned website that hasn't opted into including the feature. What if Google decided to use chrome to place adwords banner ads in your website to direct traffic to paid clicks but not giving you a cut of the action, any control over the types of ads shown or the ability to disable the feature? As it stands there is no recourse for me to remove the functionality, I have no analytics for what referral traffic I'm generating for other businesses and I can receive no reimbursement for paid ad clicks generated. I can't be the only one that thinks this should not be acceptable but I would love to welcome your thoughts/ideas/discussion. Thanks! Hi, I'm facing a strange issue with my pc. I bought this last year in June. It was running fine till now. But from last month I've observed that pc won't start on pressing power button. So I found a solution for this that turning off power supply switches ups to battery power and pc starts. When the boot completes I can turn on ac power. But from last 2-3 days it is getting crashed randomly. And from today morning I'm not able to boot it completely. Whenever I'm trying to start using battery power it starts and turns off within a minute or two. And once it is crashed I've to again turn on ac power and then turn of ac power and press power button. Sometimes it shows ezdebug Cpu led and sometimes ezdebug dram led. And sometimes it boots and I can enter bios but if I make any changes in bios and try to save and restart it again crashes. I've tried clearing cmos by removing battery cell for 5 minutes. Also tried jbat. Also tried POST Test, by removing all parts and adding one by one but no luck. In bios cpu temperature is around 42•c, motherboard temperature is around 38•c Is there any issue with cpu? I removed it from cpu socket and saw thermal paste is having more fluidity than normal. I accidentally bent some cpu socket pins but I've fixed them. So that is not an issue. I've tried different wall sockets with and without ups. But got no success. my pc specifications are as follows. Intel i5 9600k MSI Z390 Gaming Edge AC WiFi 2x GSkill trident 8 gb 3000 mhz cl16 2x GSkill Aegis 16 gb 3000 mhz cl16 Samsung Evo 256 gb m.2 Lexar 500gb m.2 1 TB HDD MSI RTX 2070 Cooler Master ML240R cooler Cooler Master 650 Watt Gold PSU Thank You!

Microsoft is adding password monitoring to its edge browser. Along with other features Microsoft is adding a feature to it edge browser that will search the dark web for compromised accounts. Similar to services available though third party web sites. video outlines the feature in more detail starting at 30:57

These 2 browsers are the current ones I'm deciding on. I personally favor Chrome in terms of it's style and other benefits. However, the battery life is killing me. I use browsers intensively, averaging around 50+ tabs easily. What do you guys think? Is it just me? I did some searching on this topic and old articles also backed up this claim but it had been months now so I'm wondering if the updates had changed anything. Thank you all!

I hope someone can help me. The display on my S7 Edge is not working properly. The are gray bars running across it. I want to factory reset it to see if it's just a software glitch that can be fixed with a factory reset. The bars only appear after boot up (not during the boot sequence) so I know the screen hardware is ok. To make it as seamless as possible, I'd like to be able to back EVERYTHING up if possible (all apps, settings, stored passwords, photos etc). Then just restore all of this back to the device after the reset. Does anyone have suggestions? Thanks

Hey, my phone decided to crash on me while using it. it's restarted and now stuck on "Starting Apps" with a greenish background. it's been like this for one hour. Is there any way to turn it off since holding down the power button doesn't work. Thanks

Apparently there's a bug in the code of IE11 as well as Edge that allows attackers to crash or in some cases even hijack said browsers. Seeing as Google is reluctant to release more info on how the bug works before it is patched, this must be pretty serious. The most sad thing about this is that MS apparently is trying to make Google extend their 90 day deadline. 3 months should be plenty, it's not like MS doesn't have any programmers ... unless they fired those too. If you use IE11 or Edge for anything other than to download a proper browser, you may want to reconsider this at least for the time being. Source: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-39114101

Just what the title says, my 360 controller does not work with my S7 Edge or Tab S2. Tried with the official samsung adapter and a chinese one. Controller gets power but doesn't do anything. Last time this controller was working on a device was with the chinese adapter on a russian prestigio tablet. Controller works fine with PC. Keyboard works fine with both devices. How do I get this working? I read on reddit that samsung disabled USB Controllers but don't know if this is true.

I was in my car and I heard a random add saying that Microsoft are now rewarding people that use Microsoft edge and bing by giving them free things from the windows store. Is this true? And if this is then Microsoft is getting really desperate.

I have a Verizon S7 Edge on Android 7.0. When on Marshmallow and for a while on Nougat, VPN (Opera and some others, but I don't user Betternet) worked just fine. Now however, after a few minutes my Wifi goes from working to "May not have Internet access" and I can no longer load any webpages. Even after disconnecting from VPN, I have to forget and reconnect to the WiFi network 1-3 times before anything works. Opera VPN is set as an exemption from optimized battery. Any suggestions/ideas? TIA. [repost because I received 0 replies]
