This is just..... beyond stupid. Source: https://kotaku.com/ubisoft-accidentally-releases-assassin-s-creed-origins-1822135300 Not much more to this. Ubisoft is just f**king stupid to do this in my opinion. You made a mistake, okay, just leave it out and let everyone play. What friggin difference does a week make? I'm sure it has something to do with marketing and contracts and making the marketing team feel like they actually do something important beyond needlessly increasing the overhead of making games. I just.... I do not understand how this company is successful with all the dumb shit they pull. You are now free to post your digging memes. Edit: My tone could probably have been better here. I am more laughing at Ubisoft over what I see as a comical mistake, followed up by an even more comical boneheaded move. Not actually angry at them. Edit the second: I'm also kind of shocked because I've never heard of a company accidentally releasing a product early, much less unreleasing it especially when people were buying it anyways.

Well, things are not going well for The Divison, Ubisofts latest excretion. Source: http://www.tweaktown.com/news/52533/divisions-player-count-dropped-gigantic-93-launch/index.html Well, Ubi had better get their ducks in a row. Thoughts? Moderators: I know we aren't supposed to quote the entire story, but since this one is so short, I figure it doesn't really matter here. Not sure what else I could add to it besides my obligatory point and laugh.

As part of EA's 10 year licensing deal with Disney, they have expressed their intentions to make many, many star wars games for console, mobile, and PC. Their CFO, Blake Jorgensen, is quoted as saying There are also rumors that there's a Star Wars RPG-Style game currently in development. Personal opinion: **Caution. High amounts of salt** Ugh. EA being EA again. First they insult the good name of battlefront by releasing a reskin and tweak of BF4, then they announce intentions to make even more. If you need me, I'll be enjoying space battles and singleplayer campaign on Battlefront II. Y'know, features that were available 10 years ago, and should've be included in Battlefront III. Just sayin'. Source: http://www.gamespot.com/articles/star-wars-battlefront-sequels-coming-ea-teases/1100-6432334/

Intro I got this from Pick Your Path bundle so I pretty much has nothing to lose when I grab the copy. Not really a fan of FarCry even though I admit FC series is actually very good. Not gonna say anything about The Crew. Knowing that it is a bug fest when it was released, I did think a lot before actually redeeming this code. But I kind of glad I did, even if it's not the best thing ever.Story Not the best story, but acceptable by my standard. Reminds me a lot of young Ezio in AC2. But modern story is pretty much non-existent is pissing me off a lot. Especially when they went "Ok, templars won't find the sage so let's do nothing". Seriously, it feels like the writers went lazy or the devs simply doesn't want to make the modern time story. Voice acting is good, but the missing accent really bothers me. The excuse given to us is that because everywhere we go in the game the feel of Paris and French Revolution won't make us forget that the characters are Frenchmen. The problem is, Assassin's Creed 2 pretty much Italian Renaissance wherever I go so why there's accent there? The lack of accent really throws the feel of the character off that I can't enjoy the story as much as I enjoy Ezio's. I tried to change the language to French and the animation is not in sync with the speech, again the feel is lost. Probably just a pet peeves but this kind of details what makes me miss Assassin's Creed 2 and Brotherhood. Gameplay You now have 2 options while free-running; free run up and down. This is supposed to tell Arno to climb up or down while free running with the safest and fastest route. But the problem of random climb is still not solved as the game still allow and guess random climb on low items, and you will also jumps of the cliffs as well. Nothing is solved with the improvement given. Combat controls is clunky as well, but at least it is well animated and most of the time doesn't really punish me too much for each mistakes. Combat does feel better and improved compared to previous games but targeting system will probably need some works, or perhaps I'm the one who need to works my combat. Stealth mechanics feels great. Makes a little more sense compared to any other Assassin's Creed I've played. Blending in crowd to be stealthy in open; chairs, table, walls, closets are useful indoors. The only thing that bugs me is that wearing yellow attire while blending in dark colored clothed crowd isn't attracting any attention. Main story missions felt too much like the original Assassin's Creed. Briefed by council, investigate, and assassinate. Good thing they modify the assassination mission a little bit by adding in opportunities. These are secondary optional objectives that will really helps you with the mission, but completing them isn't a piece of cake either. Good challenge and helps with the assassination. Crowd missions introduced taking advantage of the crowd number in the game. The missions is basically giving helps to the citizens against thieves or harassing extremist, but the frequency of the citizens being harassed is too much that I get confused whether I'm in Gotham or Paris. Not to mention they can actually fight, some of them actually carry swords but doesn't fight when harassed until you act. Borderline logical for me, but that's probably because I've never lived in a revolution era. Co-op missions are fun, it's just that I keep on asking myself how many Arno is there in this world. I kind of missed the PvP multiplayer. It's not in the game, if you need them you had to go back to previous installation. Animations are cool! I like the high-profile assassination, low-profile assassination and the parkour animations. Nostradamus Enigma is fun investigation too. Deciphering clues requires good knowledge of the in game area, usually pretty obvious if you know Paris well enough. These enigma will lead you to the artifacts that will unlock unique armor. Side missions are good too. 2 kind of side missions, local stories and investigation. Playing detectives in investigation missions are fun, problem is the most of the time the clues sometimes direct you right to the person who did the crime. Without much effort you can solve the crime. As for the local stories, my main gripe with it is that the need to either re-load the game or fast travel to get to the next part of the story after you complete one part of it. If you are the kind of completing one story in one go, you'll find that the way they do it is giving you extra works. Because of the co-op, the devs implement some sort of RPG elements in the game. You can modify the stats of your Arno to be stealthy or to be a tank. Problem is, the stats are not well explained. Example; High-Profile Noise and Low-Profile Noise. In game they have positive values, so you'll get confused whether the equipment is adding more noise or actually reducing noise? Some of the stats that improve your stats has negative values. So, you decide to seek your answer on the web. And there you go, the value on the AC:Unity page is upside down from the in-game (positive in-game, negative in the web). It felt like the stats modifier is an afterthought rather than planned from beginning and poorly executed. Though the function remains the same. I would say that Ubisoft is right on making the crowd as their selling point. The crowd is pretty lively, has their own agenda and the number is simply enormous. The problem is with the protesters. It's like they don't have anything else to do other than protesting. They don't need to eat, they don't need to rest, they don't have other business to attend, they just protest. Good thing is that they still know how to react to their surrounds, one guy release a shot every one will start running away saving themselves.Graphics I'm running the game at 1080p with graphic presets High with additional HBAO+. The problem is, it felt very much like being rendered by potato rather than my GTX970. Some objects that is imitating bokeh (out of focus object) is not out of focus but rather rendered with very low res textures and polygon. Faraway buildings are having seriously low res textures that you start to wonder if you actually owns GTX970 or GeForce 2 MX400. This might not bother much if you are simply running around but when I'm stopping investigating enigmas, this really bothers me. As for the framerate, yes it struggles to maintain 60fps. But at least it can maintain above 40fps. No weird framerate issues that I experience. Dem low poly and textures Dem low textures If you really want to maintain 60fps, probably you'll need SLI. Problem is, SLI is broken as of my review was done so it's pretty much not an option right now.Microtransactions Oh yes, you don't want to play the game yet wants to unlock every single equipments in this game? You got the money, Ubisoft got the answer for you. I see it as pay-to-win since basically it just jumps you forward with more powerful equipments, but it won't upset any balancing in the game so you might argue it's not pay-to-win and I'm willing to accept that. A mobile game level of microtransaction in full fledged triple A game that cost you $60 isn't bad enough for you? You can throw your money to Ubisoft another extra $2 for premium access in the companion apps. This will give you "full experience" with the companion apps when the companion app is useless without you buying the game. Companion app is primarily for you to throw more money at Ubisoft. Companion App I like the idea of 2nd screen experience and extra things you can do in it. Introduction of Glyph Puzzles to unlock missions and send your assassins to complete the missions for you and unlocking extra chest in the game is an idea that I actually like, just that you'll need to make sure that you collect the rewards in game as soon as possible, else you'll lose access to one of your assassin for 24 hours as they were automatically assigned to collect your rewards for 24 hours. Conclusion Assassin's Creed: Unity isn't a bad game. But the inconsistencies, microtransactions and textures in certain area really bugs me. I like the story, I like the stealth mechanics, I like the animations, I like the co-op multiplayer, but the game itself is released in such conditions that makes everything becomes bad and leave sour taste in my mouth. If you're hoping to run this game on SLI to boost performance, hold your horses. But if you really can look past the bad pc port graphic quality, microtransactions and inconsistencies, I'd say it is passable as an entertainment. The game itself is fun though nothing excellent, but all the bragging points buried by the bad stuff in the game. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BdSk6vJmW5M

TechLand, the creators of Dead Island and their current game, Dying Light, have recently decided to join the ranks of Ubisoft in the grave digging marathon, stating that 30 frames per second is “the optimal solution for Dying Light and all its gameplay features on consoles.”. "In such a fast-paced game, a stable frame rate is paramount.” “When you’re desperately trying to escape from a horde of pursuing Volatiles, even the smallest drop can lead to a mistimed jump and consequently your death. That’s why we made the choice to lock the frame rate at a rock-solid 30fps on consoles, at the same time reducing the input lag to the minimum. The result is a perfectly smooth, gameplay-tailored performance.” Wow! Seems like console and multi-platform developers cannot resist to run off their mouths and talk about how great 30 fps is, they want you to understand just how awesome it is and how it helps gameplay! Rock solid 30 fps and minimum input lag? Hmm, they seem like two mutually exclusive elements, but i guess we should put our trust in the game developers, right? You heard it right folks! They didn't stop there, here's their last statement to put the final nail in the coffin: “Focusing more on an enjoyable experience and less on numbers, we believe we hit the sweet spot with Dying Light’s performance on these platforms.” Because as we all know, there's nothing more enjoyable than the silky, buttery smooth 30 frames per second, for that perfect cinematic movie theater experience! After all, it is common knowledge that resolution and framerate are arbitrary numbers. Here's my take, this stuff is just getting out of hand, i'm sure that everyone, including the console user base, would appreciate to not be treated like complete idiots. I'm sure that most of these developers are not this stupid, so it leads me to think that Sony and Microsoft have a sway in their PR, apparently simply admitting that their hardware has its limits would cause damage. Apparently the right choice is to keep feeding lies and attempting to delude the public. Source: https://www.facebook.com/DyingLightGame/posts/503677419775309

This is slightly more of rant than a review but I would like to warn you guys about the support at HTC. Ok so it all started this October when I noticed the purple tint issue happening to my camera (On the HTC One). If you do not know the purple tint is caused by thermal defect in the camera meaning it will need to be replaced. So I go to HTCs tech support page and start a service ticket. The first person to contact me was actually quite helpful and left me in a good mood after talking to them. What They Said: This a a known issue We can fix it EBay is a valid place to purchase the phone Check back in 2 days to see if your P.o.P. has been processed I did by my phone off EBay because as a student I can not afford to drop 700-800 USD on a phone. Two days later I check back in: "Sir we can not find the P.o.P. please send a new one in" So I ask if Ebay is a valid place to buy the phone and they say yes and it will be repaired for free once we get the P.o.P. So two days later I check back in after resending the P.o.P., Still Ebay is OK and we can't find your P.o.P.. After that I kind of just forgot for a week or two and when the camera issues started to worsen I contacted them again hoping to see if I could get my phone fixed. Finally they found the P.o.P. Its going to be 90 dollars Ok I'm a little pissed that I had been lied to be 3 of their customer reps but I was willing to pay that much so I send the phone in. One week later they send me an email saying the phone has be processed and that the new quote on the camera repair is almost 200 USD. So this is when I start to research some local places in my area that might be able to repair the phone most of them can do it for less than 100 USD. I request my phone back from HTC. After about one week of shipping the phone comes well packed in a little box and it seems like it made it back in one piece, that was last night and it just goes downhill from there. Exhibit 1: They wiped my phone without warning, I had it backed up so it was just a little frustrated that I had to restore everything. THEY NEVER WARNED ME ONCE. So now I'm warning you back up your phones before sending them to HTC. Exhibit 2: The Battery. Last night when I got the phone it was dead and seemed like it was charging rather slowly so I left it until the morning to download my backup. This morning I get up and my phone is at 10% battery and when I look at the graph it has died twice in the last hour. I've now tried multiple chargers and none of them have any effect on the battery. So Don't use HTC customer support ever, it is one of the worst experiences I have ever had. Updates coming soon on how HTC responds to the dead battery.

This interview seemed genuine. I completelt get the answrrs and can see how big studious and publishers can put tremendous pressure in game developers to deliver in time rather than when the game is actual finished. I think with more problematic releases we might see more players looking into indie games. I know I would...at least don't get all hyped about a title before it's actually out and you see they delivered! Take care!

http://www.pcgamer.com/ubisoft-recommends-assassins-creed-unity-players-delete-all-game-contacts/ http://assassinscreed.ubi.com/en-US/community/liveupdates/live_updates_details.aspx?c=tcm:152-185876-16&ct=tcm:148-76770-32 We have discovered one of the issues that may cause the game to crash at the main menu after pressing the CONTINUE button. This issue affects all platforms. The team is working hard on a fix for those players that have been affected by this. However, for players who haven’t experienced this issue, we highly recommend you take the following steps to prevent a crash: Do not add any IN-GAME RECENT PLAYER as a GAME CONTACT If you already have GAME CONTACTS, perform the following to remove them: My Brotherhood > My Contacts > Game Contacts (using RB/R1) > Focus on a Contact (LS) > More Actions (Y/Triangle) > Remove from contacts. One of AC Unity's big new selling points was allowing you to play co-op with your friends. Now, because they were in such a rush to get the game out in time for the holidays, they are suggesting you delete your friends list in order to get around a crash bug at the main menu.

After the launch of AC:Unity, i decided to check out people's reactions to the hilarious glitches and whatnot going on in the game. I wanted to see if people enjoyed the game and could get past these issues as i was skeptical about how the graphics might turn out. However, when i came to the front page this morning, i was pleasantly surprised and laughed, hard. Classic Ubisoft digging. They should just rename their company to 'Holes'. At least people might understand why they can't produce a solid game anymore. So what do you guys think, did Ubisoft shoot themselves in the foot for the last time? Are they going to fix the ongoing "30fps, 900p is best for gamers" bullshit? Personally, i've always liked Assassin's Creed games, but after playing the early Beta for the Crew and seeing the shitty leaked photos of AC:Unity + all the glitches and whatnot now, it's getting harder and harder to say screw it and buy the games like they are.

In an interview at the GameStart gaming convention last week, Bloodborne producer Masaaki Yamagiwa said that they “will probably go for 30 fps since that’s what they found to be the best fps to play action games.”, also adding that they “weren't targeting 60fps because it’s not first-person shooting, it’s an action game.” Seems like yet another developer is joining the grave digging among the ranks of our beloved Ubisoft as well as the developers of the PS4 exclusive The Order: 1886. Source: http://www.reddit.com/r/pcmasterrace/comments/2nkpgf/so_ubisoft_patched_acunity_on_ps4_today_they/ Pictures say a thousand words: It could also be that someone lowered the lighting option on purpose to make it look like Ubisoft did it. Can anyone who unfortunately bought the game confirm?

Ubisoft finally noticed that AC:U is broken and they are giving people a free dlc (Dead Kings) for the game. Also anyone that had a SeasonPass gets another Ubisoft game for free. http://assassinscreed.ubi.com/pl-PL/community/liveupdates/live_updates_details.aspx?c=tcm%3A160-186650-16&ct=tcm%3A148-76770-32 sorry that the article is in polish.. i cant change it for some reason.

Read video description. Seems like Ubisoft simply left a bug in PC port in order to pretend that console cpu is better than dual core/thread budget gaming PC. Future is not bleak with budget gamers who want a good upgrade path to CPU. Now we should hope that Bioware get head out of rearend and fix their game(...even Call of Duty fixed the problem of not running on dualcore cpu). Now that everyone knows this... disable uplay update, because Ubisoft will probably try to "patch" this away. Also, I would like to know how exactly someone can make a game that runs four parallel threads but can't make it run on two. Now that everyone knows this...

Source: http://www.polygon.com/2014/11/25/7281529/ubisoft-the-crew-reviews It looks like they're at it again (as if they ever stopped). Not only is Ubisoft witholding copies of The Crew from reviewers until after the game comes out, they are taking another step by directly telling consumers to not trust early reviews that came out. I was actually looking forward to picking this game up, but with all their recent shenanagins, particulary with Watch Dogs and Assassin's Creed Unity, I'm almost not. I will still consider it if I read enough positive reviews from independent sources, but I'm just not sure I will. What do you guys think? Are any of you interested in picking this up? I didn't get into the beta, and I'd really like to hear what any of you who got into the beta (particularly the PC version) think about it. Also, I know the 30FPS business has been remedied (supposedly), so that's not really an issue.

It's common knowledge now that AC Unity performs like ass on PC, but its performance doesn't really make any sense! Turning down the detail settings doesn't always affect the framerate, or the stuttering, and even changing the resolution doesn't always help! I opened up MSI afterburner whilst playing it to have a look at what it was using, and got some pretty odd results! (All settings at max, AA disabled, 2560x1440. SLI 780s and 2500k@ 4.5Ghz) The GPU usage is really inconsistent, and the VRAM usage is too! (Ignore the VRAM usage on GPU2, sometimes Afterburner breaks and shows stupid values for this.\ Just thought it was quite interesting. I wonder what is causing this! Are they using any brand new tech, or do they just suck at using DX11?

Ubisoft keeps on digging .for poor performance of AMD hardware NEWS from Kit guru link :http://www.kitguru.net/components/graphic-cards/anton-shilov/ubisoft-accuses-amd-hardware-of-assassins-creed-unitys-poor-performance/ Ubisoft accuses AMD of Assassin’s Creed Unity’s poor performance, bugs November 14th, 2014 at 3:37 am - AuthorAnton Shilov Ubisoft, which faced massive amount of criticism this week because of Assassin’s Creed Unity’s launch bugs, has issued a statement blaming AMD hardware of poor performance and glitches of the game on PC platforms. The company believes that the AMD-related problems only affect a handful of users and does not comment on issues with other PC hardware configurations as well as with game consoles. “We are aware that the graphics performance of Assassin’s Creed Unity on PC may be adversely affected by certain AMD CPU and GPU configurations,” the statement by Ubisoft reads. “This should not affect the vast majority of PC players, but rest assured that AMD and Ubisoft are continuing to work together closely to resolve the issue, and will provide more information as soon as it is available.” Even though the official statement from Ubisoft implies that Assassin’s Creed Unity runs poorly only on personal computers featuring an AMD processor and/or an AMD Radeon graphics card, multiple media reports note performance issues on both Microsoft Xbox One as well as Sony PlayStation 4 game consoles. Multiple reviewers have also revealed that game puts even high-end PC builds powered by eight-core Intel Core i7-5960X “Haswell-E” and Nvidia GeForce GTX 980 graphics cards in multi-GPU SLI mode on the knees in terms of performance. While bugs in drivers can cause issues with rendering speed, quality of graphics and effects, they are not responsible for many other problems that PC gamers have experienced with Assassin’s Creed Unity, such as textures going off and entity glitches. It should be kept in mind that Assassin’s Creed Unity is one of the first games to feature hundreds of NPCs [non-player characters] is many scenes, which requires tremendous amount of both CPU and GPU processing horsepower. An unknown engineer (presumably from AMD) explained to Wccftech that ACU suffers from bottlenecks of the current DirectX 11 application programming interface, which means that many problems cannot be solved easily at all. “The game (in its current state) is issuing approximately 50,000 draw calls on the DirectX 11 API,” the engineer said. “Problem is, DX11 is only equipped to handle ~10,000 peak draw calls. What happens after that is a severe bottleneck with most draw calls culled or incorrectly rendered, resulting in texture/NPCs popping all over the place.” While APIs used by Microsoft and Sony for their video game consoles provide a lot of flexibility to game developers, neither PS4 nor XB1 have enough processing power for Assassin’s Creed Unity. As a consequence, even console gamers suffer from poor performance. “On the other hand, consoles have close-to-the-metal access and almost non-existent API overhead, but significantly underpowered hardware which is not able to cope with the stress of the multitude of polygons. Simply put, it’s a very very bad port for the PC platform and an unoptimized (some would even go as far as saying, unfinished) title on the consoles.” Regrettably, Ubisoft has not spent enough time optimizing its title even for powerful personal computers to demonstrate the potential of a next-generation game that features a number of open-world related things that have never been implemented before. KitGuru Says: Blaming an independent hardware vendor for poor performance and glitches is not a good thing in the first place. However, Ubisoft made it even worse by saying that only a minority of PC configurations are affected, implying that everything is good with the ACU in general. The reasons why Ubisoft does not want to admit obvious things are not completely clear. Perhaps, the company is afraid that once it admits all the issues, many gamers will demand a refund, which will enrage the investors.

Assassin’s Creed Unity‘s senior producer, Vincent Pontbriand apologized for using “the wrong words” while discussing the decision to lock the game at 900p/30fps. Then they go on explaining how there are so many people in Paris and how every building is highly detailed which causes too much strain on the new consoles. But he also added that it will continue to get better as time goes by with more optimizations and better middleware later Source: http://www.latestnewsexplorer.com/we-would-not-limit-a-games-resolution/

Source: http://www.pcgamer.com/2014/07/04/ubisoft-vp-says-gamers-are-growing-more-comfortable-with-dlc-and-digital/ The Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag "Time Saver" packs aren't expensive—$1 for the Collectibles Pack and $2 for the Resources Pack—but it's the principle of the thing that's so outrageous, at least among those who remember that cheat codes used to be free. Yet according to Ubisoft Vice President of Digital Publishing Chris Early, there was no outrage. "There was no resistance," he told GamesIndustry. "Maybe there were 12 guys somewhere who said something, but whatever. As a whole, there wasn't a problem. . He said that DLC and season passes are "pretty much accepted" these days, because publishers have been able to make players feel like they enhance the game rather than leave them at a disadvantage if they don't pay for it. He also touched on what many people see as a potential problem with microtransaction-based games, even though in his eyes it's a positive development. "I know people who've spent five digits or more of money in Clash of Clans, spending in the tens of thousands of dollars," Early said. "Who would think of that? But nobody's really angry about that. That's how that guy chooses to play, and he's playing against other people of the same caliber, whether they got there through spending hundreds of hours playing the game or tens of thousands of dollars. Good design, that's what it comes down to." They just keep on digging. While I'm not against the idea of paid DLC, this is just crazy. If this is a repost or there are formatting issues, please let me know as I'm writing this on mobile. Edit: Fixed the link
