Summary Apple has announced that they will release diagnostic software for DIY repairs to help identify issues and test parts for the public. According to their claims, the software contains the same features and capabilities AASP and Apple's independent repair program uses. Moreover, they are expanding the SRP to newer devices like the iPhone 15 series and M2 Macs as well. The program has also been released officially in 35 countries. My thoughts Nice to see that Apple is slowly releasing parts and software for independent shops and DIY users. One of the main pain points was the lack of a diagnostic tool and hopefully, this is the beginning where that starts to change. So I just finished building my first complete build, hooray! booted it up, got post, installed OS without any issues and got all drivers updated, Sweet! re-download my usual games and work applications and this is where it all goes horribly wrong. Everything is so much slower than it should be. Photoshop takes forever to update, Maya...actually works really well (surprisingly..), but with few exceptions, I get absolutely atrocious frames in all my games, specifically games like World of Warships and Tera online. I've double and triple checked things like cable connections, drivers, and bios settings, and I can't seem to find anything wrong. Can anyone help? DxDiag is attached, and I'll list specs below. Gigabyte Aorus K7 i7 7700K 16GB G.Skill Ripjaws DDR4 Z170 EVGA GTX 1070 SC 1x Crucial Mx300 256gb 1x seagate Barracuda 1tb Win. 10 OEM 64bit 750W Antec Edge gold 80 All parts are running stock speeds, and nothing is overheating. Hi LTT community, So for a while now my PC would randomly crash and shutdown before rebooting itself. Upon reboot I get a A2 error code (should be something to do with my drives) but it continues to boot into windows anyways and appears fine. Sometimes it will shut off again and other times it will be fine for hours before having another episode. Initial research into the problem suggests its a power issue but my PSU seems to have a decent review being 80+ gold and 750W should be enough for my uses (no OC). Recently the intervals between when it randomly shuts off is occurring more frequently. The question is, where should I being troubleshooting? Should I see if the drives is causing the crash or get a new PSU and see if that stabilizes it? Or does anyone have any other insight i'm missing over? Thanks for any help you can offer. - Phil Parts: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/8JwKJx

Hey all I recently received a old used Asus p8p67 and an Intel i5 2500k which i wanna use for a small game server for me and some of my friends. However i haven't been able to get it to POST. No diagnostic beeps or anything only a weird sound and a small red flash of the dram led(Video included). Tested with multiple PSU's and only pump, fan, 24-pin and 8-pin cup connectors plugged in. Even bypassed the the power button with a jumper just in case that was the problem. Anybody got some advice? That would be much appreciated VID_20191013_172742.mp4

I built a new PC this year in July during the Ryzen 3000 Launch. I got a 3900x Ryzen CPU, a ASUS Hero Crosshair VIII (WI-FI) motherboard, Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO 32GB (4x8GB) RAM, 1070 GPU & a ASUS THOR PSU 850W. I have no overclocks. I started getting BSODs after the first week I got the PC regarding memory corruption, so I went back to Microcenter and they swapped my RAM. Thought my issue was over. Got more BSODs after about a month in. I downloaded Memtest 86+ and ran it stick by stick, showing me I had 1 bad stick. So I was going to RMA it. I kept 3 sticks in, PC kept BSOD still. So I ran the Memtest again on each stick, in different slots. Found that my slot 3 was causing sticks to fail repeatedly. Got a 3800x for testing that its not CPU mem controller. Still shows failing sticks. Won't post at all with Dual Channel with stick in slot 1 and 3. Got a new motherboard (ASUS HERO CROSSHAIR VIII non-wifi), put in my 3900x. Slot 3 still failing on the same set of RAM. Try different stick. Still failing on slot 3. Sometimes won't post. Put in the 3800x as well, same results. So what gives? 2 motherboards, 2 CPUS and we're still at a failing state. For some reason, slot 3 is the only one failing. So what is my problem here? Only thing I haven't tried yet is getting ANOTHER set of sticks. I even borrrowed my friends 3900x to test a 3rd CPU and I still have the same set of issues. Id say memtest is lying to me about the results, but my system is definitely not stable. Can it be my power supply somehow, or do I have a different problem here? Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. BIOS is updated on the current (non-wifi) motherboard & the wifi motherboard. I'm running on 1201 BIOS. Chipset has been updated. Temps are good on the system, not overheating.

Hello. Very long story short, I had constant Black screen of Deaths(Screen instantly goes black.. then audio freezes a second later. Forced to restart. Was so bad it happened about 5 times a day) and found out it goes away upon taking my R9 290x out. So I've recently purchased the AMD combat pack as I've been looking at it for a while.. plus my R9 290x recently "died" which made me go ahead and just do this. But today my PC's screen turned black again after weeks without the R9 290x inside. The black screen was different this time though.. it went black, audio froze, but then everything quickly came back(No need to restart PC). Photoshop froze though and needed to be task manager'd after this, and YouTube videos were just green screens for a while. Is it my PSU? it's the only thing staying inside the PC during the upgrade. How do I test that it's healthy? I used CPUID HWMonitor and showed results to someone experienced in this stuff and he said nothing seems wrong with power whatsoever even during gaming. But I want more ways to be extra sure.. I'm worried my PSU would fry the new compenents on its way. I am willing to do other tests as well on other components if someone requests. I'm hoping it's just my current AMD GPU that's helping me pass the time. Mobo: MSI Z97 GPU: AMD Radeon HD 6570 CPU: i7-4770k Ram: 16 Gig PSU: Corsair 1000W (I know. It's definition of unnecessary. I bought it when I had 0 clue about anything PC and my friend building the PC for me accidentally linked the wrong PSU wattage) OS: Windows 10 All drivers up to date.

Is there a list of what the EZ Led Diagnostic lights mean? Specifically on an MSI Z270-A Pro motherboard? I've found diagnostic codes for readouts, but none for the single led variants. I ask because I've put together a machine with some older parts, and it won't post. I'm getting a flashing CPU led directly to Ram. I just don't know how to interpret that. Is it both? When I unseat the ram completely, I get a solid led on Ram. So I interpret the solid light to mean something different than flashing, but I don't know specifically what. Incompatible ram? Does MSI have these debugs listed anywhere.. its not in the manual. I've followed along with the "How to respond to a no POST or no power up situation", between rechecking cables, reseating CPU and ram, different dimm slots, even checking to see if the backplate on the cooler was causing a short. Case fans spin, cpu fan spins, the led strips on the motherboard light up.. I just fail to post both with and without a GPU / using integrated. The only information I have at this point are the flashing leds and I'm hoping someone knows what that may mean. Thanks in advance!

I need to view the DDM (Digital Diagnostic Monitoring) function of my SFP+ fiberoptic transceiver (at the request of the retailer I bought it from) which should resemble the following image in some way shape or form. Unfortunately this command & output (I think it's CISCO specifically) is for a switch. I do not have a switch at this time (Nor do I plan to buy a CISCO one). I need a way to view this data either on a Windows 10 machine or my FreeNAS V11.0 U3 server. ipconfig /all (windows 10) & ifconfig (FreeNAS/linux in general) do not display this data and Google hasn't been of any assistance. The only clues I've found are to setup SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) on the server and find software that can read the transmitted network packets but I'd rather not do that because that'd be quite a bit of trial & error. Nothing on Google mentions how to view this data on Windows but that'd be great too. Any answers are appreciated.

Hi, so I'm having issues booting up pfSense on an old computer and I'm hoping someone could help me with some troubleshooting. My current build: M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3 AMD Phenom II X4 965 DDR3 4GB 1600Mhz G.SKills Ripjaws 250GB WD HHD (7200rpm) Logisys 480W PSU My issue: I've tried to boot the 64 bit version both off a usb and DVD but they both weren't recognized and didn't boot. I put the iso for the 32 bit version on a DVD and it booted fine and I got to run the setup for installing it on my HDD. During the default installation I was running I was notified that the system had less than 512MB of RAM and that it would be doing some special install because of that. I've gone back and checked in the BIOS and it sees the full 4GB of RAM so idk what the issue is there. And now when it tried to boot off the HDD I brings me to the standard F1 pfsenseF6 PXEBoot: F1 Screen but if I choose F1 it crashed and restarts F6 it asks for bootable media and if I do nothing it will crash and restart after about 30sec. Anyone have any ideas on what could be wrong. Any help would be much appreciated!

hey everyone, I'm Alex from Pipemetrics, a little startup making quality Windows apps in Switzerland. I wanted to show off our new project called Diskovery, its a data storage inspection tool, meaning it scans your computer for an attached storage devices (HDD, SSD, USB drives, etc), analyzes them and then gives you a clean and easy to understand report. Its still in beta at the moment so we'd like for people to test it out and give us feedback about their experience it so we can continue to polish it, both from the UI standpoint and the code in the background. Here's the link to read up on all the technical details and download the app: https://pipemetrics.com/diskovery/beta It started when our developer was building a module for our flagship app, Bvckup 2, that can read the S.M.A.R.T. stats on all modern drives. As he continued to tinker with it, it began to grow into something much more useful than his first idea, so we decided to dedicate more time to it and turn it into its own separate program. Its not 100% finished (that's why we are looking for testers) but we aren't looking to turn it into a paid product, even when we take it out of beta. Its free now and it will remain that way. Its really small (225kb), doesn't need to be installed to use and as of right now, it is the only app of its kind that actually bothers to show which physical drives are attached to which RAID volumes. So I think that's it, check it out and let us know what you think, either through here or through the log reporting feature in the app itself. Thanks! Also here's a preview of the UI, in case you wanted to see what a typical report might look like when using the app:

I don't have the money to update my hardware. However I did buy Windows 8.1. I formatted the hard drive and did a virgin install of windows 8.1 Now I keep getting Watch dog errors. I had no problems with XP for years. I tried to update each driver one at a time but windows keeps telling me that all the drivers are up to date. Does anyone know of some *** free *** testing software that I can use. I have : Mother Board : Biostar N61PC-M28 CPU : Phenom 9850 Quad core 2.5 Gig Ram : 4 gigs Windows 8.1 64 bits. Since I had no problems with XP I believe this is a driver issue. I just cant narrow down the driver/drivers. Also : I noticed that my cpu starts off at 2.5 gig but quickly drops down to 1.1 gigs. If that helps. Thank you for time. Scott

Hey guys, my parents have a somewhat old dell computer that I recently put a crucial mx100 into and reinstalled the operating system on it. I used the original Hitachi 500GB drive for storage. It has 8GB of RAM, a Intel i7 860 1st-gen processor, and a dell motherboard (not sure which one). The model is a Dell Studio XPS 8000. I think it's about 5 years old?? Anyways, I'm having problems where the computer will completely freeze up, I'll get a white, line-filled, screen, sudden shutdowns, etc. It seems like it could be a blown motherboard capacitor, but I don't see one. The computer was freezing up before I reinstalled, so I do not think it is a corrupted install. Any suggestions/advice?
