To make a long story short, we had a developer who recently stopped working for us. He helped created an app for iPhone in Xcode that downloads its data from a Google Firebase (Firestore) database he set up on our account. Today we got this quite scary email (as seen on the attached screen shot below). Unfortunately we're in between developers and don't have any Firebase developers at the moment (and the previous developer was fired and remains unresponsive to us). I'm only a UX-Designer and I honestly don't understand a word from this email. Anyone that knows Firebase that can help me understanding this email? Does this mean our database is publicly available on the surface web (so for example search engines can crawl/index it)? What do I do about this?

Budget (including currency): 130K INR (about $1500 USD) Country: India Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Deeplearning, Training Neural Networks, Video rendering,3D rendering , Minecraft, CS:GO, and general stuff Other details My PC will run Windows 11 as it's OS. I chose some parts for my build. Please check this out at https://pcpartpicker.com/list/ZPTJ28 I chose Intel i7 for it was under my budget and a decent CPU for my workload. The main for my workload is GPU, so I chose GeForce RTX 3060 as it has some good amount of CUDA cores along with 12GB VRAM. I am going to use a 4k monitor though display resoulutions don't matter for me. Please suggest changes required.

Hi everyone. So I figured I would post this here since I've seen so many aspects of my story involved in LTT videos at some point in the 5+ years I watch them that it might be an inspiration for someone for the various technological achievements. My backstory: So now to the actual challenge on hands: I decided that for the whole duration of January 2022, every single day (if not prevented by some very important occurence), I will play BOX VR for 60 minutes and stream it. I am already at 30% of that and so far I managed to stream every day, even though yesterday there was nobody in the chat and I didn't find out that my game sound was not picked up. There are several technical aspects I want to share: Audio+Video: I am using my trusty Sony IMX291-based ELP camera. I did a video about that one already, and you can grab yours on AliExpress. Thankfully, the excellent mic array on the Valve Index provides crystal clear audio for the stream, and of course I am using the sidechain trick that lowers my game volume everytime I speak so it can be loud for the rest of the time. HR monitoring: To better convey to my viewers how much physical activity I am exerting and to log the data for possible further analysis, I wanted to record my heart-rate. I have an older Fitbit Charge 2, but they pulled the plug on real-time HR monitoring, and optical sensors in wrist bands are a pretty bad solution for cardio workouts because you move a lot, shuffling the sensor around on your skin, making it ver inprecise. I did my research and bought a Polar H10+ (the large version of course, having a considerable chest diameter). I was looking for a software solution to get the HR to stream. I found Pulsoid but the free tier only gives you a very boring kind of visualization with almost no customization. So I began to poke around how the Polar actually communicated and turns out there is a specific Bluetooth GATT profile for HR monitoring. It is actually part of the Bluetooth Low Energy standard! How amazing. This allowed me to code my own tool called PolarGrabber that I have just put on GitHub for all to enjoy. Considering this is a standard, I assume it is not actually limited to Polar hardware and would work with every device that supports the HR GATT profile. There are two components to it. First is the main program, that will simply scan all BLE devices that support HR GATT, select the first one in the list (kind of assuming you don't have more of them) and initiate data retrieval. It will also open a simple web server on localhost:port (the URL is in the config file) and server javascript server-side events. Additionally, it also logs every HR point to a text file (csv, really). The second component is the file hr.htm. It is a simple webpage that connects to the local web server, receives the events with the individual HR values and uses amCharts to draw a nice plot in real-time. It also keeps track of peak HR and when the chart accumulates 10 minutes of data, it starts to delete the older measurements so it's not too crowded. You can of course edit the parameters in the htm, I put some comments there and it should be pretty transparent. In OBS, I create a Browser source, use this htm file and because I the CSS makes the background transparent, I don't have to chroma key, it just looks nice out of the box. Chat bot: To boost engagement, I have written myself a chat bot that provides stream overlay that not only renders chat, but also allows users to post GIFs, audio/video macros from my collection, YouTube videos and even Text-To-Speech engine that reads sentences out loud for those moments, when the boxing combos are too busy for me to be able to read the chat. The tech is very similar to the HR monitor - local webserver and a htm with javascript subscribing to server-side events used as OBS web browser source. I am not yet ready to release the bot, it is very much work in progress, but I will eventually, and it will be available on my github as well. It is basically just a shell that provides very stable connection to the chat and the rest of the functions is done as plugins that receive the messages and can process them in any way. There is a help available to showcase some of the features. In-VR HUD: Now problem with monitoring chat during regular gaming is easily solvable by a second monitor. I don't have the real estate on my desk to support 3 monitors, and 2 monitors setups are bad for me that it is either 1) one monitor on each side, neither perfectly centered or 2) one monitor centered, the other "aux". Since I have wall-mounted studio-grade speakers, I bought a 10" 1280x800 HDMI+USB touch screen from AliExpress, wired up the power to 12V pin in an unused 4pin connector from my PSU (through a fuse!, that's a must) and use that for "pancake games" streaming. What about VR, though? Fortunatelly, there is an excellent tool for that called OVR Toolkit. It allows you to place virtual windows in the 3D space of the VR world. For standing games, you can just place the windows around you and look at them - this is what I use for Box VR since you stand on the same spot the whole time. In games where you move inside the game world, obviously you would just walk away from these Windows. So OVR Toolkit can attach the window to your controller for example, so you can see the chat everytime you look at the underside of your wrist or something like that. A real lifesaver! So I simply have another html file that embeds the chat overlay and the hr overlay in different layout, and I have that opened in a small browser windows that I clone using OVR Toolkit. Home automation control: Constantly trying to boost engagement, my bot already started to award people with my own currency for chat activity. I was thinking about how the users could actually spend all that. And then I realized I have home automation running on OpenHAB and all my light switches have Shelly smart relays in them. I was wondering how hard would it be to allow people to control these things via the bot, like allowing them to switch lights or change color of my RGB bed. Turns out...SUPER easy using their REST API. Like 3 lines of C# code easy to call that. So now my viewers can control my home around me, while I work my ass off on camera I will check this thread from time to time to answer any technical questions. Have a good one guys

Budget (including currency): 50k INR at most. Country: India (INR) Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Web Development, Adobe Illustrator, Figma, NodeJS Server Development. (Win 11) Desired Display Output: 2x 1080p (secondary monitors) + 1x high refresh rate 1440p / 4k (primary monitor) I have all the peripherals minus a primary monitor. This is not included in the budget. Hi, super excited to build a web-development PC for office. Please advice the best bang-for-buck while keeping future-proofing in mind. Here's what I have been thinking: Opt. 1: 12100k with no dGPU Opt. 2: 3300x + GT1030 Opt. 3: 12100F + GT1030 Opt. 4: Ryzen 4650G > Please ignore these options if they don't make sense. Idk how will I connect 3 monitors without a dGPU. 16 GB RAM will be sufficient for now. DDR4 or DDR5? (I am not a monster, I open at most 5 tabs of chrome at a time) Suggestion for a motherboard & PSU? Case suggestions? For storage: Going with intel gives me the option to use Optane. I don't need much storage. I'll prefer speed over capacity. 2.5G LAN will be a nice to have. Not necessary at all. Will my workload benefit from more cores? Any full-stack developers? Thank you.

Hey all. The program that I am currently taking contains a web development course and I have no idea about the workflow or tools involved with it. All that we're dealing with this semester is JS, CSS/HTML, AJAX and JSON so nothing too crazy (Next semester is server side stuff). I am extremely familiar when it comes to the workflow and toolchains of compiled/interpreted applications using languages like C/C++, Java, C#, Python, ASM but web development is extremely far out of my wheel house so I have no idea what tools and workflows are available for it. So far my setup is VS code with a live server extension and chrome but after using this for nearly 3 months out of this semester it still feels clunky to design and test web pages. I find it counter intuitive to have to reload the page every time I make a change, especially when I am working with forms and have to program the functionality for them. When I am working on the pages it is very iterative. I'll get the elements on the page and then program the required functionality for them before I style the page. But as I make changes I am constantly reloading and testing these changes, It helps in the long run making sure the page functions exactly as I want it too so that I get excellent grades but it is also a massive time sink to do so. The way I see it, I have 4 possible options. Change my workflow Change my tooling to benefit my work flow A mixture of the two above choices. Just live with it. Any thoughts for improving my workflow or toolchain? It would be great to have WYSIWYG (What you see is what you get) type of editing so that I can make changes on the fly without having to go through the process of retesting the entire page but rather just the section I need to retest. Additionally, I find the debugging experience to be lack luster at best; although, that might just be my naivety when using chromes developer tools.

This is going to be hard for me to describe assuming my pictures are not posted of this issue. I Generally see it happening in first person Mil-sim or "realistic gun games". I assume it has something to do with lighting. Anyway in-game I will see let's say a shelf or the corner of a wall and the edges will be moving up on down regardless if I move my character or not. Now in my pictures the vent on the door which is horizontal has the edges moving side to side. The shelf's obviously vertical, edges moving up and down. My main question is why is this happening? Would this be a known issue to the developers? Is this something to do with graphics cards or settings? My pc specs are I5-8600k, 32GB DDR4, GTX 1080, and a 4K monitor. My settings in game were 1440p on high settings. I had shadows on medium. The game I'm playing is Ground Branch (Alpha state) Any help is appreciated. 340739873_GroundBranch2021-05-2803-59-20_Trim.mp4

Hi, I've taken the 'poor guy" approach and I've made a docker image to backup a remote MySQL/MariaDB server into a remote git repository (ie. GitLab, GitHub, etc). I'd like to listen to your opinion on this form of backup, potential security threats, optimization tips, etc And, its free and open source. I'm open to Pull/Merge requests: https://gitlab.com/franciscocb/mariadb-git-backup-docker

After many years of using VMWare Workstation (currently v 15.5.6) to create and use DotNet (Visual studio, SQL, IIS) Development Environments, and trying to follow best practices, I'm finally looking for the right settings (Swap, disks, etc) to give me a development machine that is as responsive and efficient as possible. Best practices seem to vary by source, so I thought I'd expand my search into the userbase. My host is running Linux Mint 19.3 Cinnamon (soon to be 20) Intel i4790K running at 4GHz 32 GB Ram SSD for root and /home filesystems 8Gb Swap also on SSD, typically about 500M in use when VMs running Development Guest (May be 1 or possibly 2 running at a time in virtual network): Windows 10 , configured with 2 Processors 4GB memory, and single virtual disk per VM settings. So, my question is what configurations others might recommend to make the Guest feel as much like pure iron as possible, without killing the Host for other things.

So poking around the interwebs, I found this interesting little info generator for any website you pop in: https://tinywow.com/web/detect . Wonderful as it is, I find it brings up a question as to what CMS means in this instance. The closest I can think of is a Content Management System. Is that correct? What exactly is going on here? I have theories but don't wish to speculate just yet.

I'm looking to build a new system, with a decent amount of local storage for 4K video projects, as well as a solid multicore/multithread platform for running multiple VM's for software development. In terms of budget's I'm also looking at Mac/Mac Book Pro, as I'm currently a Mac user, so that's in the neighborhood of the $3500 USD range. Already have 2, 24'' IPS panels to plug in to this build. Given that, I've looked at the i7 6900K or the ryzen r7 1800X. Both 8 core 16 thread systems. However the R7 1800X is about half the price of the 6900K. This machine won't be used very often for gaming, if so it'll be older games from my steam library I have yet to get to. Linus / Luke, Mods, if your reading this, a great video topic would be "Content Creation Benchmarks on Ryzen" Anyway, tons of questions, for content creation in Premier would something like a GTX 10 series, or an ATI R9 perform better? How well does Corsair's 110 series AIO cooling solution work? Feedback on the Raid V array of WD Blacks for fast mass storage in this configuration? Given the number of SATA Channels is it work adding a Raid 0 array of SSDs for a scratch disk? According to newegg the 1800X does have virtualization technology support, anyone trying running VMWare or Unraid on a ryzen yet? General thoughts on the build....? So here's the link to the build on newegg (Also attached PDF): https://secure.newegg.com/WishList/PublicWishDetail.aspx?WishListNumber=36932007 Dank Ryzen Build.pdf

Okay I need to use ProFreeHost to host a website for college. Though in CPanel, everything seems fine when uploaded, then when I check the site online; the HTML & Images seem to load, but for some reason doesn't seem to display the CSS or connect to the other pages, only my index page. I will provide screenshots of the files, code & what it displays online. (Note everything works perfectly locally). (Also note this is my first online site and never used CPanel before) The video tutorials I've seen a pretty bad & CPanels are different. http://sunshineparkfarm.ezyro.com/ Cafe.html Contact Us.html Farm.html index.html stylesheet.css Images.zip

Hi, all. I'm working on a custom case lighting system for Arduino and some WS2812B led's. For those of you who don't know, these are configurable LED's much like NZXT's HUE+ system. "Why don't you just use a Huie+?" You ask? Because I don't like it, and instead of moan and complain I decided to be proactive and devise my own fix. Advantages include cheaper and more widely accessible parts, full customizablity with various WS***** LED's and best of all it's all open source and based on an Arduino. This means a large community dedicated to solving issues or creating their own new light shows. I've put together a video of what I've developed so far. It's incredbily basic however I'm looking for coders to help me with a UI and further custom LED sequences.

I have com up with an idea for a game that I want to make but I am not sure what language to use. I have some Java experience so I was going to use that, but my friend told me that Java would run slower than c++. The only problem is I have no c++ experience. Any suggestions? I can learn another language if I need to but I would rather not if possible.

I have interest in learning game designing or development. I know they both are 2 different things but then would like to know which I would like more. If someone could help me get started with it as to what to start with and how to start with it. I really want to learn. If anyone wants to help me please let me know or even if there are any tutorials I can watch.

Hello everyone, I am currently a student who is quite interested in VR/AR development and am looking for my first "gaming grade" (not sure what else to call it atm lol) laptop that will allow me to develop virtual simulations. I am currently using an old Dell computer that takes a long time to render. Since I am going off to boarding school, I would very much prefer not to ship a desktop over to the dorms. Also, I would prefer it were designed closer to an ultrabook. Any suggestions and advice would be helpful and welcome. Thanks! -U

About 2 weeks ago, I bought a domain and got it hosted. I'm trying to set up forums and make it look nice but I have no idea where to start. Searching up tutorials have helped a little as now I have bbPress installed but the main problem is the layout, account creation and the themes. If anyone sees this could you please help me out as I really need to have this site done soon.

I've always been fascinated about how a single person could make cool games. I myself have many ideas for a videogame but find some areas harder to fulfill. I'm a computer science student with already some practice so programming isn't a problem on any game engine. I don't have problems designing the videogames either. The main problem I find is the art. Animations, 2D/3D designs, backgrounds... I'm pretty useless at drawing and I don't own or know how to use a drawing/designing program. I'm currently trying to learn Blender by myself, but it feels so massive to start with that I'm getting a little desperate. So I was wondering if you guys knew about some free program for desiging/drawing sprites or animations for videogames because there aren't either any artists round my area so I have to do everything on my own. As always, thanks in advance

Hi everyone, So, I'd like to buy a laptop in late-September/early-October for about $400. I know, that's a tight budget, but I'm currently 16 years old, and my parents aren't going to finance it, and that's the money I have. So I mainly do development in these languages/environments: Android Flutter Java(FX) Dart Unity or Unreal (not currently doing any development in these, but I want to try them when I have the time.) My main IDE is IntelliJ Idea, which I am running on Linux. As for distro, I am kinda used to Ubuntu based distros, and currently running elementaryOS, but I am trying other stuff as well. But if the laptop can be "Hackintoshed", that would be the icing on the cake. I won't be doing gaming on this laptop, I have my desktop for that. I need the battery to last at least about 4 hours, but ideally more. Having USB-C would be a benefit, but not a requirement. The laptop should have (at least) 8GBs of RAM, since I have a bad habit of using a ton of Chrome tabs while developing. Having an SSD would also be a huge bonus (otherwise I need to buy one separately). Second hand is certainly an option, but I live in Hungary, so factor in EU pricing and shipping, not US. I am not afraid of upgrading the RAM or changing the hard drive to an SSD, but I'm going to need to factor that in the cost as well. I am also not afraid of doing weird stuff (eg. buying a Chromebook and replacing the OS on it.). I know this is a lot from such a tight budget, but I hope there are options. So what are your recommendations? Thanks in advance.
