Hey LTT peeps, I'm a Product Designer and I've been looking to upgrade my current BenQ 1080p 60hz monitor to a 1440p one. I want my new display to accommodate both my needs of designing crisp images/UI AND sweaty gaming sessions. I've been searching for good 1440p 100% srgb displays that also have high refresh rates but I can find nothing useful (at least on Indian sites). Am I looking for something that doesn't exist or am I looking in the wrong places? Can you recommend any good displays that meet my needs? Thanks a lot in advance!

Budget for PC Tower (including currency): ~2000€ (current prices say more about ~2300€) Country: Germany Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Mid-range to high-end gaming at 1440p on a 144Hz monitor, UX/UI Design remote work (tens of browser tabs, Adobe PS, IL, Xd at the same time etc.) - possibly streaming, but not a priority Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Hey everyone - I finally landed my dream job, and am planning to build my first new PC after spending 8 years with the FX-8350/HD7970Ghz combo. I researched and picked parts together - and would like to ask if some of you who are more experienced and knowledgable with PC building than I am could scan over that list and provide some feedback. Is there anything I forgot/did not consider? Are there any hidden flaws with the parts I picked? Are there better alternatives at a similar price point for the parts I picked? (I still have my research spreadsheet on hand, so if many of you recommend something similar and it's on my list already, I know I picked wrong :D) Is it possible to get similar performance with cheaper parts? Generally speaking, parts availability and prices are horrible right now, so I plan to build this PC slowly and steadily over the course of the year, sale hunting each part after another to get the best deals. Case: Corsair 4000D Airflow Motherboard: ASUS ROG Strix X570-E Gaming CPU: Ryzen 7 5800x AIO: Arctic Liquid Freezer 2 280 (top mount should be possible) RAM: G.Skill Trident Z Neo 32GB 3600 CL16 Dual Kit NVME: Samsung 970 EVO Plus 512GB SATA: Crucial MX500 2TB GPU: Some kind of RTX3080 as long as available PSU: Corsair HX750 Platinum Complete fresh build Peripherals (excluded from the price range above, just for info): Roccat Vulcan 120 AIMO Logitech G604 LS or G703 LS or MX Master 3 Steelseries Arctis 9x OR Logitech G733 Current monitor setup: office monitor 32" 1440p 60Hz + 24" 1080p 60Hz Planned home monitor setup after covid: 1x Main Gaming 27" 1400p 144Hz IPS, 2x 27" 1440p Side monitors for productivity Thanks in advance for your help!

Budget (including currency): 2500 - 4000 CAD Country: CAN Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Rhino 7, Revit, Grasshopper (parametric Designing), V-ray, Photoshop, Premier, After Effect, Coral Painter, Games/Oculus. Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): So, Currently I have a surface book 3 and lets say that rendering a few images and models is kinda killing the laptop. Also, when I use the tablet for drawing on photoshop, some of the brushes lag so badly that I need to go to the washroom and back to wait for it load. That being said, I do prioritize the design/ animation portion over the gaming. It'll be used for Rendering on 3D modelling software, Rhino/V-Ray, some animation/video editing, Parametric Computing, an a small amount of gaming on the side. I would like to decrease the time of rendering and make complex photoshop/ coral painter brushes a bit smoother on the tablet itself too. I would be using 2 - 3 monitors, ideally 2k resolution. and one of the monitors would be a drawing tablet. I'm also just getting ready for black friday I guess to see if can't pick up some parts to build. I think 4K would be my upper limit, but cheaper the better? It doesn't need to break records for rendering speeds, but needs to be relatively beefy. Any recommendations?

Hi, I'm Nic, 33 years old, born with cerebral palsy, I am a techie and graphic designer. I've been freelance for 10+ years and currently have been working with a company almost a year. I love my job, but my work computer is lack luster for what I do, especially coming from my home system. I know what the issue is, although my boss, who's not proficient in technology, doesn't seem to understand that my job is more hardware forward than emails, spreadsheets, etc. My current work computer is a HP All-in-One (Specs below). Is there an easy way to explain to him why I need better hardware and what the benefits would be, or a workaround? I have to wait 30+ minutes sometimes for photoshop files to open, save, or changes to render. I've been making due, but my workload is expanding to trade show, apparel, and other marketing material. I would bring my home desktop or buy one myself, but I feel like the first step would be to better explain the reason behind my request for a new system. Although my other concern is the company's not very old, 2-3 years and they might say it's not in the budget. Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated. Hi everybody! I'm currently studying digital content design (video/image/2d/3d, very versatile) and my current build is struggling a lot with Adobe CC's software suit; especially After Effects and Premiere Pro, when creating 3D animations and editing 4k footage. There's also slowdown/lag with high res images and heavy documents in Photoshop and Illustrator. My current build consists of parts which are about 8 years old, some way older since the gpu, psu and mobo gave up at one point and the current ones are salvaged from an even earlier build. So I wouldn't be surprised if my current build doesn't make much sense. But it's time to move on and upgrade since it's now holding me back. Current build: I'm looking for: A PC build that can handle all types of visual and content creation; video, image, 3D, animation, 4k, raw etc. You name it. Nothing from the old build will be saved, I'm looking for a completely new build. I never game, it will purely be a working horse running content creation software (Adobe CC etc). I do not care for gaming esthetics (black, rgb lights, windowed case), I prefer simple and clean. 1 SSD for the OS and 1 HDD for storage. Speed and efficiency. Budget: 10 000 SEK = 1131 USD Country: Sweden Aim: 3D, animation, video and photo editing, vector graphics etc in softwares such as Adobe CC AE, PR, AI, PS. My current build struggles a lot when it comes to 3D animation, 4k footage, high res images and heavy documents, pretty much everything in other words. Monitors: For starters I will only run 1 monitor and aim for 4k res, but I'd like to be able to run 2 monitors in the future when I have enough desk space. Peripherals: Atm my budget is probably only enough for computer parts, but later on I also plan to purchase a new monitor. Monitor suggestions would therefore be appreciated as well, something suitable for editing with accurate colors, a 4k 27" IPS panel maybe. Mouse, keyboard and OS is taken care of. Why upgrade: I'm a digital content designer student whose current build is made up of 8+ years old parts and as I'm getting more and more into motion design with 3D and animated effects and the resolution of videos, images and documents increase, my current computer is coming up short, to put it mildly. ___ I'm uncertain when it comes to compatibility between components and I'd like to get as much bang for my buck as possible. I therefore reach out to you wise members and I thank you so humbly in advance for your advice and suggestions.

This being something I started working on yesterday but was needing some help from someone better suited than myself, me using the Protocase designer tool to make this. I was originally intending on making an mITX case to replace the one I'm using for the pc in my living room, but there was a lot of open space with how big I made this one that I'm shooting for mATX now. I was needing help with some things, and was also hoping to get some feedback on the design. mATX - ITX attempt.pda I really like the idea of having the system shifted to where the graphics card is vertically mounted, and with fans along the bottom, blowing air up through the case, passively exhausting out the top since heat rises. A very important thing I was needing help with is making sure the standoffs for the motherboard are properly lined up with the io panel on the top of the case, something I couldn't figure out for the life of me. Also the insert used for the standoffs were ATX, so I was wanting help with making sure mATX will work. Lastly, when it comes to the top of the case, I don't really know if things line up for the PCI cutouts, I think I might have one too many. Also with the cutout for the power supply, the cutout is for ATX, but I need it to be able to fit an sfx power supply, especially since I need to accommodate the 3.5 drive bracket (SSDs I'm using with this pc are m.2). Another thing I want to note with the PSU, is I'd have the fan facing inside of the case. One other little detail I was needing help with is a cutout for a power button, I'd likely have it placed on the top of the case, as for where I'm not sure. I'm thinking maybe in the bottom right part of that picture where you have the 4 horizontal lines, 3 vertical, then 4 more horizontal, if to the right of the vertical ones.

Hi there, I need some help with the build for my girlfriend, she is an art director and designer.I am more comfortable with gaming builds, and maybe there is some small piece I could leave behind. I will follow the guidelines 1. Budget & Location The budget is 1000€. The conversion to dollar price part is usually 121, plus 300/400 for a 4K monitor, and 100 for the peripherals. Location is Spain 2. Aim The PC will be used for content creation on adobe suite mainly (Huge files), autocad, other design programs and some video editing as secondary. I will probably use it for gaming sometimes, but I have my own system for that, so it is not a real target. 3. Monitors 4K monitor 4. Peripherals OS not required. I have some old OEM keys at home that I can recycle. She just needs a good keyboard and mouse with 100$ budget. 5. Why are you upgrading? She has a laptop for the job, but it is becoming a bottle neck and she needs a more powerful machine. Reliable and always ready. I made 2 configurations, and I have my doubt on the graphic card. I tried with a 2060 KO for the performance close to the 2070 in productivity and a 5700XT. Any suggestion there? I went in both cases with Ryzen 3600 with standard cooler right now, and I will look for a different one in case of overclock, if needed. The RAM is RGB because was the best price in the website I checked for a 16GB, 2x8, 3200 kit. Option 1 - 976€ Option 2 - 1027€ Thank you

Hello everyone, I am a graphical design student and need a new laptop for the next 3-5 years. I need a portable and powerful laptop (desktops out of the question, because I have to costantly move from my appartment to my school, or vice versa). I recently found a deal on a G501VW for 1150€ with: i7-6700HQ 16GB DDR4 RAM 128GB SATA3 SSD 1000GB 5400rpm HDD GTX 960M 4GB GDDR5 VRAM 1080p IPS matte screen 60Wh battery I need a second opinion because I have a feeling it should not cost that much, am I wrong? I need a portable laptop for Adobe suite and not for gaming (2.5kg max, around 2cm thick) that doesn't cost more than 1200€. Any other suggestions would be appriciated. Thanks

Hello people from LTTF, how are you? I am in need of some help today. I am a designer and i've recently been moving around far more than normal with not much time to spend at home, and since most of my work is digital based not being able to work while i'm away really affects my workflow. I've been looking to purchase a laptop to use on a daily basis with programs such as Cinema 4D, Illustrator, After Effects and such. I don't know much at what i should choose as i've seen and been told too many different things from people. I was wondering if you could help me find a laptop, my budget is rather large, however i'd prefer to stay under the £5000 mark. Normally the renders are not super complex but from time to time there will be a heavy load which i'd like to take down fairly quickly. Can any of you name me a few options i could choose from? I'm excluding Mac Book Pro's from the beginning as i am not very comfortable with them, thank you very much.

I was working on our app, some .cs file .... When i switched back to the XAML Designer i was bombarded by errors, warnings and a broken UI .... We use "Material Design In XAML" NuGet package for our UI. IDK why, but everything just instantly broke, and the error that are displayed in the second picture say "The resource 'x' could not be resolved" I have a couple of other projects that use this UI Package and they seem to be working fine, here is what i have tried to fix this : (nothing worked) Rebuild the whole project ... nope Rebuild the whole solution ... didn't work ether Reinstall the NuGet package ... Downgrade the package to a older version ... Remove its reference from the App.xaml, reload Visual Studio and add back the reference ... Clear all of Visual Studio cache and user settings ... Reinstall the XAML Visual Studio Package Nothing worked ... and most of this stuff i have found on their "Issues" in GitHUB repo. Last thing that i have to try is to reinstall Visual Studio, but because my net is s***, i want to see if someone has a solution before i spend a whole day reinstalling it Also, note, im using Visual Studio 2019 Preview v2.1 (i think v2.1) If any more info is required ... please ask, i didn't know what else to add. Thank you !

Hi guys, I've finally designed some custom housings for my IoT stuff around the office (because exposed wires are apparently bad ) but I'm terrible at 3D CAD designs, so everything is in 2D. Can anyone recommend a 3D printing company or product designer that they've had a good experience with? (Ideally near Toronto)? Cheers, Bryan

i5 new rig for Graphic Design i5? or i5k skylake
Romano posted a topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Hi everybody, so I'm building this new rig for my office already bought the ram 32 gigs 3000 mhz I decided not to buy an i7 because I am not gonna work with 3D editing or video editing only Photoshop and Illustrator, I'm not gonna use this PC for gaming neither, just work anyway, should I buy the i5 non-k? or the 'k' version, will I notice the difference in performance when overclocking the 'k' version? I was thinking too that if I buy the 'k' version I would need more money to buy an aftermarket cooler, so I can overclock it Also the non-k version is Cache 4 instead of 6 I really don't know much about Cache can some one advice me here in that too? so: I5-6600K 3.50 GHz, 6 M Processor Cache 6 or I5-6500 3.20 Ghz 6 M Processor Cache 4 -
Hey, I was just wondering if any of you know the date of the wan show where linus talked with the guy that helped design the interior of the new headquarters. I'm fairly certain it was a wan show because I remember it being a lengthy discussion, however I cant seem to find it in the playlist of wan shows.

I made two logos that I want to use across social media, websites and other things like that. I came down to two designs but I'm not sure which one I prefer. I like the simplicity of the Red and Blue Z, and red and blue are my favourite colours. But I think the space logo looks cool. What one do you prefer and why?

It seems that EVERY build request is some one looking to play games and "edit video"... Is everyone a video editor or is that just an easy way of saying, "I might do work on it", I mean if they're not a video editor they seem to be a Graphic Designer and I'm yet to meet a fellow LTT designer in real life, there must be millions of them! I guess with the ubiquity of YouTube maybe everyone is an editor? I can't be the only one seeing this trend? Maybe I'm just drawn to those build requests

Hi, I've been quite into gaming and forums lately and I need a profile picture made that sort of suits my name. So what I need is someone capable of using photoshop or some fancy graphics making software really well if they could make me a logo/profile pic. If someone could help me that would be great. I don't need anything massive and fancy and nothing 3D, also don't need a massive amount of colours, probably like three colours... If you're interested in a simple image to make please contact me or reply to this post and I'll tell you what I'm looking for. PS: Not really up for paying or something... Please message me if you know anybody who could help me with this, Thanks, Sheepy

Hello everyone! I'm basically new the building my own PC. I have previously had 2 laptops and a Windows XP desktop that were all prebuilt and bought for me. I am now 18 and basically looking to move on to bigger and brighter things with my computing experience and also within my future. I have put together a list of components that i think will benfit me over the course of the next 10-15 years, give or take, and will allow me to game and also carry out the tasks that i need too. These tasks at the moment will be focussed around my University work which will be nearly all 3D Based. I have some idea on how computers work and everything and have a feeling i will be fine building it. I just need expereienced users to give me their opinion on future proof computer building that i don't have to touch for awhile. Obviously i know the Thermal Paste needs changing every couple of years or so, but that's a minor thing compared to buying a new graphics card or a new HDD/SDD. Anyways! Heres the list of all the parts that i currently have on my Amazon Wishlist ready to be ordered when i have the money to order each item. I also have a couple of items already which i will list at the top of the list below so that you can see how far i currently am, and what advice you would like to give.
