I installed DDWRT on my linksys e2500 and while poking around I found this setting labeled "link Aggregation on ports 3 and 4." I'm pretty sure that means I can effectively use both of those interfaces together in order to double the bandwidth going to one device but I'm unsure if that's correct or if any configuration needs to be done on the device itself to take advantage of this. Also why are my only options in the drop-down menu "no" and "trunk", no clearly means don't do that but what does trunk mean?

I'm looking to install something like Tomato or DDWRT onto an ASUS N66U to get a bit more functionality and features out of it. Does anyone have any suggestions or tips or personal experiences in that regard? (aside from buy a new router) I've installed DDWRT on old Linksys routers before, but it has been years since I've touched this topic.

I would like to setup openVPN service in my home network so I can access my FreeNas when I am in office. And I found out I can ether set open VPN on my router (a ASUS ac56s flashed DD-wrt) or in my freeNAS machine as a plugin. As I know very little about networking, I really have no idea which solution will be better.

I flahed my router Linksys EA6300 with DD-WRT in addition to no internet connection, everytime I reboot the router (cutting power) will simply turn the router into a brick, with no green power light, but lan port lights turns on. Unless I do a 30/30/30 Hard Reset then the router becomes accessible through 192.168.1.1 but have no internet connection. I have tried flashing the router with its orginal firmware and an updated version of ddwrt but everytime it reboots itself it bricks, and when I hard reset it, it remains to use its current firmware. My problem is that every flash when the moment it reboots it wont boot up therefore not completing the firmware upgade and remains the current firmware What can I do to fix the reboot and no internet connection problem? if Not how do I revert to the original firmware?

So I have a house of about 275 meters with 2 floors and a big gap(a whole kinda) between both. I am currently using the tp-link tlwr740n and it has served me well since 3-4 years. But now I've changed the setup of my computer along with the router as well to a room(it was in the open before - not in any room). I need a cheapo router under about 30-40$ with the following things in mind:- - It needs to have at least 50% more wireless range than the router I'm currently using(tl-wr740n) - It needs to be supported by dd-wrt The things I would really like to get but will be willing to skip on if I don't have a choice are:- - dual or tri band support - gigabit lan ports(one will be enough) - usb lan port for ftp I was thinking about getting the tl-wr940n but it isn't supported by dd-wrt. Anyways, Thanks

I have a Netgear R8000 which i have flashed with DDWRT firmware to see if i can get a performance gain. Is there a instruction manual of some kind that talks u through best settings of this firmware as im a little bewildered by the amount of settings and what they are. Thanks.

Im considering flashing my router from stock firmware to DDWRT in order to see if i can sort out a minor issue i have with wireless. My question is this, i run a Synology ds215j NAS and a few shared drives over a network, would i have to remap the entire network to reshare the drives or will the settings stay in place? Thanks.

Im thinking of flashing my router from the ASUS Merlin to DDwrt to see if i can get a better wireless connection. What im wondering is can anyone point me in the direction of a good video or something to help me flash it and maybe get the best out of the router.

Guys I have a TP-Link WR740N router and a TP-Link WN725N wireless adapter, for a month I was getting like 1 MBps out of my 5 MBps connection, it used to frequently disconnect me from my network and then one day I discovered that I put the adapter in a USB 3.0 port and the adapter being a USB 2.0 one, it was somehow probably throttling my internet speed and I was at my normal speeds once again when I reconnected it to a USB 2.0 port. So I recovered back my full speeds but I still get disconnected every now and then and when I heard about this software DD-WRT I began wondering can this thing in any way help me like increasing transmission power or something? I really could benefit from that extra range.

Hello everyone, I am trying to install DD WRT on a linksys e1700 but am running into a few problems, when i try to flash my router with the dd wrt firmware I get an error saying "Incorrect firmware" and i get taken back to the routers GUI. The e1700 i have come out of the box with linksys firmware 1.0.03. People have said online that you need to flash the router back to 1.0.01 or below in order to then flash it to dd wrt. But i cant find any old firmware for the e1700, all the links online have expired. I found one link on a youtube video but when i use that firmware ( v1.0.01) I get the same message "Incorrect firmware". Which confused me as it should be linksys made firmware? I was wondering if anyone has any old firmware for the e1700 or knows ways around it so i can install dd wrt?? Firmware link from the youtube video: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-F52nJ8rzb8ckFQYTFsaTl1MXM/view

So i have a netgear nighthawk R700 (Running stock netgear software), bridged to the default telstra modem/router combo, i have the telstra combo set to modem only, and the R7000 handles everything else, this set has worked for me flawless for a very long time, and recently i have run into a rather strange issue, where whenever my brother has his PS4 on, not even signed in or doing anything, just being on, cripples my network, my speeds drop from 110+mbps down to about 10-3mbps, and my ping on speedtest.net goes from 9 to about 300+, it makes various online games unplayable (Cod, dota, starcraft). so i start troubleshooting, first i switched his ps4 off from the wifi to a ethernet cable, this switch made 0 change, still cripples my network. i checked for ip conflicts within the router ui. i tried wiping the hard-drive and reinstalling the ps4 os, the full 900mb download off the play station website. with the new os installed on the ps4, it still crippled the network, but to a lesser degree than before????? so i decided to try and set up some QoS rules within the router, i quickly found that his play station was completely ignoring any settings that i setup, whilst every other device on the network confiding within the setting that i set. so some more investigating online let me to a custom software for the router, DDWRT, i flashed and set up the new os to the router, and the ps4 still crippled the network, so i tried again to setup up some QoS, this time with the new custom software allows me to set specific usage limit for specific devices (either ip or mac address) i set the ps4 to draw no more than 10mbps of the available 110ish.. Finally some results, the ps4 sometimes ignored all QoS and got about 60ishmbps and other times it got 10mbps on the dot, no more no less. so some further research i learned that the common consensus was that tomato handles QoS better than DDWRT, so i moved on, flashed tomato onto it re setup my network for the third time, Set some QoS settings, and found again that sometimes it ignored the QoS settings and completely crippled the network and other times it sat within the limits i set, and i could even play online games, no hassle. so now i am out of things to do, it seems my brothers ps4, just does whatever the hell it wants. so i am open to suggestions at this point, because i am out of ideas. so if anyone has even had a similar experience or any other ideas on what i should do, let me know one quick thing aswell, it doesnt matter how many people are on the network, or even what they are doing(downloading, streaming, whatever), aslong as his ps4 is off the network is perfect

Hey all, At work(A Small Business Internet Cafe) we used a Buffalo AirStation Extreme AC1750DHP, Recently we overhauled our network hardware that's why I say "Used". We would like to repurpose the AirStation into a hotspot where one would need to accept terms/conditions, or pay to use our WiFi. The router we flashed DD-WRT onto when we first got it cause all of us (staff) are big fans of the opensource firmware. So I did a hard reset on it so I would be starting from scratch with it. Using DD-WRT built in Hotspot function, I am trying to enable HotSpotSystem (Cause we like them the best) for this task. I've followed the offical instructions from HotSpotSystem, including their troubleshooting and I still can't get it to work quite right. Can anyone give me a for dummies step by step on how to o it step by step from the very begginning on a reset dd-wrt router? SideNote: If I'm posting this in the wrong forum, my apologies, and please direct me to the proper forum

Ok when I build be computer I did not get a wifi card for it because it was intended to remain in the same room as the router and is connected by and Ethernet cable, how ever I would like to move my computer up into my room. I understand it is easy to buy a wifi pcie card and install it but my family recently got a new router, and has nothing to do with the old one. I want to turn this router into a wifi repeater because 1. The wifi is terrible on the side of my house without the router, and 2. My house is 25 years old and doesn't have Ethernet running through the walls and I would like to have my wifiless computer in my room, but don't want to buy a wifi card, adapter, or use power line... I guess I should be clearer on the router I want to repurpose. It's it an Actiontec MI424-WR revision D, (The new router is revision I) I know that DD-WRT is a thing that supports this router however I couldn't get it installed. The only tutorial is on the wiki and didn't work for me, as well as not being detailed enough. If anyone knows how to A: use the router as repeater without installing DD-WRT, B: Install DD-WRT on my router, a video would be greatly appreciated... I prefer the tutorial to be on Windows 10, however I can load up a Ubuntu live cd is need to. thank you for reading all of this and I hope it made sense.

So I have a D-Link WBR 1310 router laying around, and I was wondering if there is a way to get dd-wrt or another alternate OS onto it. Its not on the router list of dd-wrt, and I don't know if its broadcom based for Tomato. Is there way to get another OS onto it? With the latest dlink firmware on it, the date doesn't even go past 2012... I'm wondering if there is still a use for it. Will any alternate OS work on it? If so, which ones? Thanks!

I've had this problem for a while and I haven't been able to find a solution. The problem is that when I create SMB shares in ubuntu (tried in both 14.04 and 15.04), the shares are not browseable on any of my windows clients (yes, browseable has been set to yes for the shares). However, I can access the shares directly via IP I'm wondering if there might be any settings on my ddwrt router that may be preventing them from being browseable on windows? I ask because a number of months ago, my NAS was running openmediavault (http://www.openmediavault.org/) and SMB shares were working fine, everything was browseable A few months after that I decided to try out ubuntu on the NAS instead, and then I ran into this browseable issue At that point I tried reinstalling OMV on the NAS and nothing was working anymore The only thing I can think of between having everything work on OMV, to nothing being browseable (on either ubuntu or OMV), is I flashed my router with ddwrt firmware So could there be router related issues that can cause this? Maybe dhcp related? I'm completely new to networking so really have no idea what may be the problem

Hey everyone! I recently flashed my TPLink wdr3600 with ddwrt, everything went fine during the flash, However, after setting up wireless networks and settings, something weird happened. Some computers were able to connect to the internet no problem, but my main computer would say it has connected to the router however windows designates it a unidentified network and i cannot get online. Weird huh? Any suggestions?

I am looking at getting a router to improve the appalling wifi of the Virgin Media "Super"hub 2. I would rather not spend too much, preferably under about £70/$100 (UK prices seem to be way higher than US prices on routers though ). I found this product http://www.amazon.co.uk/TP-Link-TL-WR2543ND-450Mbps-Dual-Band-Wireless/dp/B006B3BM9I/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1378072905&sr=8-3 and I was wondering whether it would be a good purchase or whether it would be a good idea to spend some more and get a better product. It will be used by several people in the house, including for games over wifi and youtube. I intend to install DD-WRT on the new router when I buy it (unless anyone can give a better suggestion).

Is there any type of software or hardware that i can use to record how much data i use throughput my house? Is there something that you can plug in via ethernet to act a as a "pass-through"? or could you add software to a router? P.S. my router is flashed with ddwrt
