so a buddy gave me a cx750m to finish my build but it came with no cables. I just ordered a 3080ti fe and it came with the adapter cable, but i still had to order the 8 pin to pin connectors to even use the adapter that comes with the fe cards. i ordered 2 cables way too quickly from an ebay listing [link at bottom of post] and didnt realize it was intended for the HX1200, RM1000i, RM750x, and RM850. does any body have any experience with these cables?? can anyone confirm whether i should just trash them and order a new psu because i cant find correct cables cheaper than a new one, or if i can trust they will work???? big thanks in advance to any response!! https://www.ebay.com/itm/233760284760?hash=item366d32e058:g:3dUAAOSwmGNfkq3p&amdata=enc%3AAQAHAAAA4Og3V%2Br5vHSznscbkuI2wnndXW%2BVJ0vSrYb5BZuimcRmofuYhJEp7WdjZQlLsvgd%2BzN6htCPDz32FKoToOh3Hdq5QriLRxCPcl9B7JeMNpvO6d0%2FhhYHL7wPgjjgTvLmLsXmr1D50f8sieVoXWgT0qmSP4iUYCp3aiO9nZx7Yl1X4K3BPdeAk%2BPTCCPeAggIfFoNMNVvHVuRNZDkEtYc1uXPJzoXmyT7QRGoqeeWbt1PiazDoSRRykqtW4dQlGQk2JGVSXRWBX3hejItHyhPO7uURKtYvJpnMcs%2BGBf2nHuU|tkp%3ABFBMsqDYu6Bg or if you dont click links in forums, the item number is 233760284760 thanks again!!!!

I recently upgraded my build with a b450 tomahawk Mobo and a Ryzen 5 3600 cpu. During certain I guess more graphically intensive games, my computer reboots. Bannerlord runs great and my temps are well within normal range. After scouring threads I believe my cx750m might be causing this? Can anyone else validate this. I'm looking at replacing it with a evga 700br PSU. And I guess is should mention my gpu is a MSI RTX 2060 gaming Z 6 Gb.

So i put my New PC together and after it worked fine for maybe 1 hour my PC just shuts down. The screen gets Black and the Fan of the grafics card get really loud. Sometimes when i wait a little Bit it restarts the System on its own and Sometimes its just stuck forever and I cant turn the PC off unless turning the PSU off. I Have no idea what causes this issue. I updated Windows, reinstalled it but that doesnt help. The only thing i can think off is that my PSU is to old for the rtx 2070 super. My Setup is: Ryzen 5 3600 (New) Rtx 2070 super (New) 16 GB ddr4 RAM (worked great before) Aorus b450 pro (New) 250 GB ssd with Windows (worked great) 1TB hdd with games (worked great) Corsair cx 750m PSU (i think this is the Problem because its maybe to old for the rtx? ) Hope you guys can help me, atm i cant change the PSU because the one that worked for me before got only 400 w and I guess i cant use that for this Setup anymore right? EDIT: I also just realised, sometines the PC doesnt even Start. when i Start the PC the grafics card Fans instantly go full Power and I get no screen and again i Have to turn the PSU off cause normal Power botton doesnt work anymore.

Since yesterday a few things have been happening: -My pc randomly shuts down after a few hours of use -I can't get it to boot back up until I restart my psu, despite my motherboard indicator being on -Wierd plasticky smell? I have checked any windows settings I know that would affect this, and the new smell would suggest a hardware issue. Any help is appreciated. It's a cx750m.

For 3 days now I have had a minor smell of burning. I initially thought it was just some dust in the CPU Cooler heatsink or the GPU heatsink so I ignored it for a day. 1 day later I started getting worried so I powered it down and opened it up and was met with an extreme burning smell. It was coming from the GPU and PSU but mostly the PSU. I diagnoised the noise coming from the PSU without a doubt since my strix fans do not even spin at idle. The temperature and GPU load is perfect at a steady 40C at idle. The PSU is loud ALL the time no matter the load. I removed the PSU and GPU from the case used compressed air on both of them extreme amounts of dust flew out of the PSU as I had expected. I cleaned both of the off with 99% alcohol and shot some air on the entire mobo and cleaned out the CPU Cooler heatsink just to be sure. I have now powered it up and been watching a twitch stream and it still sounds way to loud and still has a smell of burning. I am assuming that it is the PSU and I am already looking for replacement. I got it from a great online store that treats their customers with respect (I have had such a good experience with them, they sent me a new mouse because it was fucking up without any question, they sent me a new mobo without any questions) I am going to call them monday and see if they can do anything about it but it's saturday now and they do not open their support until Monday. Thank you if you can help. If you need videos or anything and think that you can help I appreciate it. Thank you for taking your time.

Having heard of some unfortunate losses due to power supplies in the cx-m line, I'm wondering if it is worth getting a more protective psu for my 5820k. My CPU and mobo are the only parts of my build I am worried about taking damage from an electrical problem, as everything else can be replaced easily enough. I'm running these on a cx750m behind an old surge protector. My house isn't notorious for electrical problems but they have happened. If the switch is worth it I am open to suggestions. Thanks!

Hey guys. I’m building my first PC and I can’t decide on a graphics card. So I’m using a CX750M for my powersupply, an Asus ROG Strix b450-F, 16g 3200MHz ram, and a Ryzen 5 2600X. What do you guys think would be a good GPU to pair? I was thinking a 1660 6 gig.

Long story short, my power splitter partially caught fire, and looks like my fire hazard of a power supply (CX750m) is even more likely to catch fire now. I'm using the PC right now, and it is fine at the desktop, and low loads, but I tried starting up a game, and there was excessive buzzing coming from the PSU that I had never heard before, so I want tor replace it before it takes out the cpu or gpu... I've got braided cables that work with my current PSU, and I was wondering if something like the EVGA G2 series would work with the same cables? If not I would like to know if there are reasonably priced corsair power supplies that would work with it. I'd like to not spend more than $150 CAD if possible.

I own a Corsair 750w psu ( cx750m ) my question is this. Although tweaktown has reviewed it and has said it's safe for muti gpu and heavy use I still worry it will overload and take My system with it. I have about 5 hdd 20 fans gtx1080 soon to be oc. And a oc ram and cpu both way over spec. Plus Aio / custom watercooling All the calculators online and the reviews say I might be using 600w at Max but still unsure. Please help

will my cx750m Power supply be enough for running two 780´s in SLI? is there any software to see how much Power my pc is using?
-
Found this listed on eBay. @quan289 Have I been out of the loop? Is this an updated CXM? A version outside of the US that I haven't seen? Just an updated skin? For those who don't get it, the cx750m is usually in white/green and has different packaging.

Since i got my Corsair CX750M 6 months ago, it has had this weird noise. Until yesterday, i didn't know it was the power supply, but i do now. I removed the power from the case fans, and stopped all the other. I dont wanna try stopping the PSU fan, as i can only fit a screwdriver in the hole, and it touches something behind the fan instantly. I think it might be the fan, but I'm not sure. Without that noise its actually as quiet as Linus wants, except for the HDD at times. Also, at times when I'm gaming, i can hear that noise over my headset. Its not overload, as the PC was turning off as i recorded, and i hadn't used the pc until then, today. Should i return it, or do you have any tips on what I can do? I also tried to plug it in to its own outlet, but that didn't help. (Video with the weird noise) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wSSCQLK0TnM Thanks

Hello, I recently made an account on this forum to ask you all about a recent problem I have been experiencing with my newly updated rig (linked at very bottom). Originally I was running: - Rosewill Green Series RG630-S12 630W -SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 6850 1GB -AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition AM3 CPU OEM Everything was running great but I decided that this Black Friday would be a great time to update my rig. I updated to the parts lists in the part PCpartpicker link (TL:DR, I updated these parts) -CORSAIR CXM series CX750M 750W ATX12V (refurbished) -SAPPHIRE 100363-4L Radeon R9 280X 3GB -AMD FX-6300 Vishera 6-Core 3.5GHz (4.1GHz Turbo) I bought the 750 watt psu because the Newegg page said that it was necessary for it to run properly. I replaced all the parts in my computer and booted it up, SUCCESS! almost I booted up BF4 and switch to max settings and I was getting well over 60fps. I spawned in a jet and took off. Suddenly the screen went black and said NO INPUT DETECTED??? The computer then proceeded to reboot all on its own. When I logged back in, the date and time was reset to 1/1/2008 but everything else was fine (I think). Wierd..... So I tried the game that came with my CPU, Theif. I maxed out the settings then ran the Benchmark option from the main menu. The camera moved passed through the gate and passed the heavily armed guards and toward the body cart. As soon I passed the body cart............you guessed it black screen and a reset. I did the usual forum troubleshooting and I found a few other similar situations. The replies to the situation outlined three possible problems. - overheating GPU - overheating CPU - faulty PSU ...Great the three things that I bought are the three issues..... I used a program called Speccy and check on the temperature of the GPU and CPU. Summary Operating System -Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit SP1 CPU -AMD FX-6300 21 °C -Vishera 32nm Technology RAM -8.00GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 802MHz (11-11-11-28) Motherboard -ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. M5A97 (Socket 942) 27 °C Graphics -ASUS VS238 (1920x1080@60Hz) -3072MB ATI AMD Radeon R9 200 Series (Sapphire/PCPartner) 32 °C Storage -931GB Seagate ST310005 24AS SATA Disk Device (SATA) 29 °C Optical Drives -DTSOFT Virtual CdRom Device -ASUS DRW-24B1ST c SATA CdRom Device Audio -Realtek High Definition Audio (these measurements were recorded whilst writing this post, and only running Chrome (4 tabs) and Spotify) As far as I can tell there is nothing too crazy here, so the problem must be the PSU. I plan to send in my PSU for a new one and see if that fixes things. So here are my questions: - Is the PSU at fault - would my old PSU (above) be able to run my rig with few problems - What do you think is the issue P.S. if you need more info just ask =) ( http://pcpartpicker.com/p/HzczWZ )

Hey everyone, I'm putting my rig together at the moment and I'm quite happy with my component choice except for the power supply, I ordered a CX 750m because it was popular and it's a good price. I haven't started the build yet (waiting for a couple more parts) and I've been reading a lot about how unreliable the CX range is. Youtube is full of videos about coil whine and other noises that it makes. I have noticed however that these videos and most of the negative reviews are a bit older, maybe Corsair have made some improvements since then? What are your experiences with this PS? If I'm willing to wait for another couple of weeks, I have the option of sending it back and paying the difference to upgrade to a EVGA Supernova 750 G2. Really not sure what to do. Good Day All. SO my PC was running fine for ages now and i decided to get braided cables. Installed them last night (everything was fine) then this morning when i turned it on all the crap hit the fan. Some of my fans plugged directly into the MOBO dont spin, i dont get any post LEDs and the system will power up ( without the screen turning on ) for about 5 seconds then switch off, then the cycle repeats. I have no idea whats wrong. could the board be fried? Could i have a faulty power supply? PLEASE HELP!

So, last week, I bought the Corsair CX750M from NCIX. Main reason being that my old PSU on my very old desktop(2003) went kaput and needed to recover my most recent files on it. The other reason I bought it is being that I am currently in the process of building a new desktop, since the hard drive is failing on the other and I need a new desktop. This rig is mainly going to be for gaming, video editing(Premier and After Effects), and Audio Production(Ableton Live 9). I will be overclocking with water cooling(H100i) and in the future doing a dual GPU setup. Parts are: CPU: Core i5-4690k Cooler: Corsair H100i Motherboard: Asus Z97-A or MSI Z97-GAMING 5 GPU: XFX R9 290 DD RAM: 16gb ADATA XPG DDR3-1866 SSD: Kingston HyperX Fury 240gb HDD: Hitachi 750gb and 320gb (had these laying around and not one of the dead ones) Case: Fractal Design Define R5 (want this to be a silent build since my old desktop sounded like a leaf blower) This going to be my main rig for most likely the next 3-5 years with some changes as previously mentioned. My main concern is, is the CX750M a good power supply when it comes to overclocking and being under a constant load when I would be gaming or editing(I can sometimes be editing for upto 8-16 hours)? If you do recommend something different, I want it to be either Modular or Semi-Modular. Also, what would the return policy be like? I know there is a 15% repackaging fee, which I don't care about, but could I just walk in and be like, I want to return it? (NCIX is 20 minutes away if I need to return it)

Hi there, so it looks like i have to RMA my Corsair CX 750M because i finally tracked down the the coil whining and static noise on my onboard sound. In heavy load situations the PSU has extreme coil whine. So now i'm on the point where i can get a new one or get store credit. I bought the CX750M for 92,72€ on Mindfactory.de I read somewhere else that the CX series is a entry level PSU and a more powerful system would require a "better" series. So now i could get a Corsair 650W RM series maybe for 20 bucks more? Or something entirely different? If it's possible i would liketo use the store credit on Mindfactory My system: CPU: Core i5 4690k non OC GPU: Gigabyte G1 980 Ti Motherboard: Gigabyte Z97-X UD3H-BK RAM: Corsair Vengeance 2x4GB 1800 MHz Case: Define R5 SSD: Samsung 850 Evo HDD: WD Blue 1TB

So i came home and turned on my PC like normal and i heard an awful electricity sound and smelled that too familiar smell. The smell was very strong and when i turn on the power supply it buzzes. WTF Corsair! I plugged in an old power supply and thank god nothing else was damaged! How the hell does this happen Maybe it was the old-ish cyber power UPS? I only had it plugged into surge protection Has this happed to anyone else?
