Hi, I'm building a custom watercooled scrapyard PC for a video, and I've got all my parts for the build. The only problem is that my (cheap) CPU Block from Amazon is too small for my motherboard: The motherboard CPU cooler mounting screws are 7.5cm apart and the CPU block can do 6cm max. See the images I attached. I can't really buy a new CPU block, and I have very limited recources where I live. I can order stuff online but that can take a while to arrive. I have thought of using the normal mounting mechanism with large washers that clamp down on the corners of the CPU block, but I hope someone has a better idea. Thanks in advance! For additional information: I found this whole PC in the scrapyard and am planning to watercool it and add RGB and stuff. This will not be my new main PC, it's just for a fun video and to have a cool old PC in a very stylish old case. PC specs are: Intel Core I5-4690, 12GB of DDR3 RAM, a (new) 120GB SATA SSD and no GPU. It just exists for being in a cool video and having a simple system to work on for fun.

I know that mixing metals in a custom loop is bad, but will the EK quantum velocity (nickel) work with the Corsair Hydro X 240mm white rad(copper) https://www.ekwb.com/shop/ek-quantum-velocity-amd-nickel-plexi?___store=default https://www.corsair.com/us/en/Categories/Products/CORSAIR-White-PC-Build/XR5-White/p/CX-9030007-WW Thank you for any help!

So as someone who has studied and is currently working in the 3D printing industry this LinkedIn article really looks interesting. Still waiting on getting the whitepaper that goes along with this but man this is really cool. Would be amazing to see this go head to head with something from EK thats made from traditional extrusion moulding and Skiving , I think tech Jesus - GamersNexus did a video when visiting some of the factories in China. I think the USP here is a reduction in size if anything. So if this gets picked up by the boys in the studio then the performance would have to be measured against volume. Galvanic corrosion is another factor as well Cheers. -TNT!

Hello! I am new in the water cooling, and I want to make my first custom loop. I was thinking to use a kit from EK and particular the EK-KIT P360 or the EK Fluid Gaming A360G. My problem is that I have some compatibility issues. The EK-KIT P360 the CPU block is not compatible with my motherboard, an MSI Z170A M5 with an i7 6700K. With the A360G the GPU, Gigabyte 1070 G1, is not compatible. I don't mind to use the P360 if the included block is compatible, but I am not 100% sure if it's possible as I thought all CPU blocks are compatible with all motherboard. Unfortunately, EK support didn't help much. Does anyone have any idea about this? Have anyone put the block of the A360G on the same GPU? Do you have any advice on how to proceed with this small project? I don't mind to mix manufactures to make the loop. Thank you very much

Hi everyone, I'm Volxity. You can call me Volx, I need a list of parts I need to do a custom watercooling loop (fittings, monoblock, gpu block etc.) I know what to do, but I don't know everything I need so I don't want to make a mistake while I'm doing it, so I am trying to get help on linustechtips forum. Thanks (please make sure it is a rgb waterblock, please I love RGB!, I also want an opaque coolant (it's going to be white) - Volx

Hello just wanting to know if I need to clean this further. It’s not shiny like when I first got it, but it doesn’t look like it has anything stuck.

Hey, I'm running a 3900x and a RTX 2080 in a loop with two 360mm radiators and an EK Velocity block on my CPU. I have made sure to rid all air from my loop and have tried multiple thermal pastes and paste applications but my CPU still runs at 50-60c at idle with audible fan noise and will hit just over 90c under a sustained 100% load in AIDA 64 after 5 minutes (with no GPU heat being put into the loop). My GPU is in the same loop and is totally thermally fine, hitting a max of 52c at full load after a similar amount of time. I am suspicious that plausibly my block is not flat? as the CPU thermals increase rapidly when under load but tend to show little variance once it has heated up (for a 3900x). Even now whilst typing this message my system fans are definitely audible as windows works through some menial background tasks with my CPU at roughly 8% usage. I sent a message to EK customer support just to see what they say, and I wont try to do anything as drastic as sanding the block to flatten it out until I get a reply, but I was wondering if y'all had any ideas for what to do next? I'm quite surprised about this issue. I had my 3900x on some 360mm aio before going full custom loop and i dont remember specifically how thermals were, but I do know that the CPU never came anywhere near 90c. Thanks homies

Pardon the pun, but I'm screwed... I was doing maintenance on my loop after noticing that the EK EKoolant was staining my blocks and tubes. I managed to get everything else apart except for this monoblock which had every screw come out except for this one. It is beyond stripped and doesn't seem to want to come out as it was very tight (the other screws were also very tight from factory but this one here is ridiculous. I emailed EK Support and was sent a video from ifixit and tried all the methods (using the correct sized hex key - which I already did as I used the one EK included in the box), tried the rubber band / latex glove method and tried gluing the hex key with super glue to the screw and letting it set for 2 hours and it came straight out again. My system has now been down for almost a week and I don't want to have to go drop another $110 on a Supremecy EVO as I really like the Monoblock as it matches the motherboard perfectly (and the heatsinks have been taken off my board already). Does anyone have ANY other ideas? I don't want to destroy the block taking the screw out but it seems from EK support that I'm on me own on this one.

This crack on EKWB CPU block???????????
Shansssssss posted a topic in Custom Loop and Exotic Cooling
I purchase this ek-kit x360 in Newegg in 03/07/2017. Last week, I found out that the cup block is leaking. The coolant goes into my GPU, motherboard and power supply. AND THEIR CUSTOMERS SERVICE tell me that THIS IS NOT AN QUALITY PROBLEM. Do anyone have this situation like mine? -
Alphacool cpu block mounting issues
Ninja_Commander posted a topic in Custom Loop and Exotic Cooling
WHile I have finally gotten around to overclocking my cpu and gpu with great results, I feel the CPU block I have might not be used to its full potential. Course this could be me being too worried about a few degrees. How ever my test had very very differing temps when I was using aida 64. It was all over the place and never really got me a good average number. So is it my block not having a good mounting, or maybe its time for a new block? -
Yesterday I got my motherboard back from repairs which had a defective 24pin ATX socket. I had to wiggle the ATX cable around near the socket while pressing the power button to boot up my rig. So I went installing everything back in the case. Putting al the tubing back, filled up the loop and start leak testing. I immediately noticed a leak from the outlet port of my CPU block. First I thought I didn't tighten the fitting good enough. It was pretty tight so I tried remounting that fitting 2-3 times but it kept leaking. Starting to become a little frustrated I decided to inspect the CPU block... Yup, that doesn't look pretty. I think there was to much tension between that outlet and the inlet the GPU block terminal. So yeah, not a question here. I just wanted to share this experience. I'm still wondering why I didn't leaked before I sent my motherboard back for repairs. I might have been really lucky with that.

Today while replacing the old thermal paste on my cpu with some newer icy diamond thermal paste, I noticed a odd ring around my cpu block. At first i thought it was just more thermal paste so i tried scrubbing it off as i was already but it wouldnt come off. Then i noticed it looked almost like how water stains metal over time. Does anyone know what this is and if it is bad?

can anyone tell me where to find 2016 graphic cards, and where to find water cooling parts in the us. I am finding it difficult to find places to shop . a couple sites have some parts but without looking up the parts I have no idea what they are due to no picture, I think part picker is one of these sites. I am also looking for specialty parts like motors to make things open and close, lift up and down ect. any help will be greatly appreciated

I have put together my first watercooling build this week andue finally tried to fill up the loop today. All seemed well up until the fluid would not flow anymore. I believed the pump was unable to make it up the loop at the time, but no matter what way I tilted the case, it never flowed to the cpu block. Right now I'm wondering if the pump is faulty or something I did with the cpu block went wrong. While I was building, I got curious when I had to replace the mounting bracket for a better fit for amd and it all fell out. Maybe I put all the parts back in wrong? Please help. I'm stressing alot over this

So I wanted to buy a black case with some red accents, i really like the NZXT h440. But I was wandering if I could make a custom watervooling loop in there. And if I can't or you have other case suggestions I will sure check them out! Looking to watercool cpu, gpu and maybe mobo! Thx to all the people who help!

Hey guys and gals of the LTT community,I have some questions about water cooling and know you guys can help! Most of them are just about compatibility and if better options for little or the same amount of money exist. Listed below are my current specs and what in the next year or so I will be upgrading to: PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant CPU: Intel Core i7-3770 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor (Purchased For $0.00) Thermal Compound: Arctic Silver 5 High-Density Polysynthetic Silver 3.5g Thermal Paste ($6.89 @ SuperBiiz) Motherboard: ASRock Z77 Extreme4 ATX LGA1155 Motherboard (Purchased For $130.00) Memory: PNY XLR8 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($95.98 @ Newegg) Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($53.99 @ SuperBiiz) Video Card: Asus GeForce GTX 970 4GB STRIX Video Card (2-Way SLI) (Purchased For $340.00) Video Card: Asus GeForce GTX 970 4GB STRIX Video Card (2-Way SLI) (Purchased For $340.00) Case: Fractal Design Arc XL ATX Full Tower Case ($122.99 @ SuperBiiz) Power Supply: SeaSonic X Series 850W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply ($134.99 @ NCIX US) Sound Card: Asus Xonar DG 24-bit 96 KHz Sound Card (Purchased For $21.00) Case Fan: Corsair Air Series SP120 Quiet Edition (2-Pack) 37.9 CFM 120mm Fans ($27.99 @ Newegg) Case Fan: Corsair Air Series SP120 Quiet Edition (2-Pack) 37.9 CFM 120mm Fans ($27.99 @ Newegg) Case Fan: Corsair Air Series SP120 Quiet Edition (2-Pack) 37.9 CFM 120mm Fans ($27.99 @ Newegg) Fan Controller: NZXT Sentry Mix 2 Fan Controller ($27.99 @ SuperBiiz) Other: Variable SLI connection G1/4 ($9.00) Other: Alphacool NexXxoS Light- Acetal ($59.00) Other: Alphacool VPP655 - G1/4 IG complete with D5 HF Top ($90.00) Other: FrozenQ 160mm Orange Reservoirs ($95.03) Other: Filling Bottle ($6.00) Other: Alphacool NexXoS ST30 360mm radiator ($71.00) Other: Alphacool NexXxos ST30 240mm Radiator ($54.00) Other: 4x Aquatuning PVC clear tubing ($12.00) Other: 16x 10/8mm G1/4 Compression fittings ($29.00) Other: Silver Kill Coil ($7.00) Other: Alphacool NexXxos ST30 120mm radiator ($38.00) Other: Performance PCs shipping+insurance ($20.00) Other: 2x STRIX 970 Backplate ($69.00) Other: 2x STRIX 970 Waterblock ($245.00) Other: Aquatuning Shipping ($7.50) Other: SLI Bridge Total: $2171.33 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2015-04-23 23:17 EDT-0400 Everything marked has purchase is already owned.... that is what will be used at first. Right now I am using the 3770 (as listed above) and that is part of the reason for me getting a cheaper CPU block...I would be buying a better one when I buy the new CPU and start overclocking. Anyways, here are my questions: •Will everything fit with one HDD cage installed but moved towards the power supply (Fractal Design Arc XL)? •Are all of the parts I have chosen good quality and the best for the same amount? •I am running SLI will the parts I chose (The adapter) work on both my current board and the future board? (ASRock z77 extreme4 and MSI X99s SLI plus) •Right now I plan on going with the fractal design arc XL, is another, better, case available for the same or 10/20 dollars more? •Tips for building a rig with a custom loop? I was also planning on a CPU/Mobo/Ram upgrade next year and was wondering if everything would work with the new parts, here they are: PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant CPU: Intel Core i7-5930K 3.5GHz 6-Core Processor ($552.95 @ SuperBiiz) Motherboard: MSI X99S SLI Plus ATX LGA2011-3 Motherboard ($171.99 @ Newegg) Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (4 x 4GB) DDR4-2400 Memory ($181.98 @ Newegg) Sound Card: Asus Xonar DGX 24-bit 96 KHz Sound Card ($38.48 @ Newegg) Other: Better CPU block (Unknown ATM) ($100.00) Total: $1045.40 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2015-04-23 23:27 EDT-0400 So, will those all work with the water cooling? (Other then CPU block, that will be changed) Before anyone say, I am planning (as said/shown below) on upgrading my CPU to one that will take full advantage of this water cooling but wanted to do the water cooling first… but yes, I do plan on upgrading and then overclocking my CPU. Also, most people will say the loop might be overkill, but that is okay with me, I like overkill (To a degree... the accidental pun is the best pun) Thanks for the help everyone!

Still doing some research and trying to get my temps down a notch, I understand ambient temp can cause it to rise but im still confused as to thy my cpu is idling in the low-mid 40s same with my gpu, they pretty much mimic eachother as far as temps go. Ive tried a few different combiniations as well. Any Help is appriciated Reapplied AS5 thermal, tried the TIM EK sends and the TIM swiftech sends with the h320 as well. Reseated multiple times, so im not sure what all it could be at this point. HT off: temps roughly 10 degrees lower idle and load HT on with 2 cores enabled: Same as with 4C/4T All of my voltages and settings are at stock as well but i cant seem to get them lower, Could the fact that i have a gpu in the loop be affecting the cpu temps? Also, I have an additional 240m rad at the front with fairly high fin density and i was wondering would having faster rpm fans help cool it? Running swiftech helix 1800rpms on the front with the stock swiftech fans on the h320. My build: http://pcpartpicker.com/b/bdxYcf

Hi Team I have been planning a big project for my Corsair 900D and i have created a wishlist on pc case gear of all the items that i will be getting. https://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=wish_lists&wlcId=357161&action=wish_lists I have done some research but as this is my first time doing a custom water cooled unit id like to hear if the items i am getting will green lit for a solid build. Let me know if these is any compatibility issues, as i am purchasing from an online store i have to get it right, its about 200 dollars cheaper that way. I will only be using still water in the build but i got some dye just for fun see how it goes. *i have a fan controller but i think i will probably need another one. Thanks in advance

Is it okay if I mount a Raystorm CPU block so that the inlet is at the bottom and the outlet is at the top? This would really help me for the tubing because I have a long sagging tube across my motherboard

This will be my first PC build with a full loop, and mostly due to Haswell's temperatures, and for low noise I've decided to do it, But I need some advice: I'm only going to be cooling the CPU, and am going to use a 240mm 40-45mm thick rad (for aesthetic reasons). 1. I've been looking for a good value CPU block, I was looking at getting a Koolance CPU - 370SI, Apparently it was one of the best? Suggestions for better? 2. I've chosen a Alphacool XT45 240mm Radiator, is there anything better I can get for a similar price? (around £40 / $58) Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
