My Plex client doesn't like .ass subtitles and requires a video transcode for them, so I want to convert them all into .srt, which from testing I know it can play just fine. I'm aware I will loose formatting/position when I do it, but I plan keep both My current workflow is to extract the subtitle using MKVCleaver, convert it using https://sorz.github.io/asstosrt-wasm/ and then, using MKVToolNix GUI to put it in front of the .ass file and re-encode it. And while that approach works for movies, it gets tedious real quick if I start doing series. So I'm wondering if there's a way to automate that, using a script or something. I imagine a script that would do all that automatically for every file in a directory. Is something like that possible, or is there an even better way? edit: on either, Windows 10 or Ubuntu Server 19.04 (preferably I would like ways for both, so I can try different ways of integrating it into my workflow)

Hello there! So I'm having a little bit of a problem. My father wants to digitalize the dvd footage of my babyself, so it is more protable and easier to acces. The problem is, that I know nothing about dvds. The first problem is that if we open it pc, it shows a lot of files, not just video files. We need all of that? The second one is that the files are in .vob, which I doesn't even know what is. The third and last problem is that the video is made up from little footages, like there is 6-7 files if I remember correctly. My question to the more experienced people around here is that how can we make this whole stuff into one, kinda good mp4 files? Are there any good (most likely free) softwares for it? I would really apreciate the help, my father would be very happy!

Hello All, My family recently found a box of family movies shot on 8 mm film. Luckily, we just happened to still have an 8 mm projector. However, the film dates back to 1965 and is extremely sentimental (it contains video of my father-in-law's father who pasted away quite a while ago). I would like to covert the film to digital and give copies to the family for Christmas, but I do not have a film converter. While they seem to be pretty common on Amazon, I was curious if anyone had any other suggestions. I have considered sending them out to be converted, but as they are extremely sentimental I would like to take an initial stab at recording them. That way there would at least be one copy left if something were to happen to them (e.g., get lost in shipping, destroyed, etc.). So far I have set up my Canon T3i on a tripod next to the projector and recorded the film being played against one of the walls in my house. The problem with that is that the film isn't always that clear, as my camera isn't capable of adjusting the focus to the film. Thus, I have had to manually focus the camera and hope I don't bump it while I am changing film reels. Any suggestions on a better method would be appreciated. Thanks in advanced!

I need to convert this code to JavaScript so that it can be embedded into a web browser. I am okay at python, but have never coded before. I would massively appreciate any help. from urllib.request import urlopen, Request import json import random greetings = ["Hello", "Hi", "Greetings"] response = ["I can do what ever you need", "I'm not as clever as your manager but ask me anyway", "I can't juggle. Anything else - just don't ask me to juggle"] def main(): print("Hello") print("As well as greetings I can also do other things. Type 'List' to see possible responses") while True: user = input("Enter your message: ") if user == "1": holidays() elif user == "2": shift() elif user == "3": swap() elif user in greetings: print("Hello. What can I help you with?") elif user == "Who are you?": print("I'm MyShiftPlanner, your shift working helper") elif user == "What can you do?": print(random.choice(response)) elif user == "List" or user == "list": print("1. Check how many days until your next holiday\n2. Check when your next shift is\n3. Swap your shift with someone else") elif user == "quit": return else: print("Sorry, I didn't understand that") def holidays(): choice = input("Do you want to know how many days are left until your holiday? I remember doing a quick way of converting binary to deanery (I think) where it has something to do with halving the deanery number and ignoring the decimal place. (Or sommet along those lines) I know this is very vague but if anyone can tell me the method (Or any quick method) I would appreciate it. Thanks

I want to convert some 1080p videos to 720p, as they will take up less space. I plan to move them to my phone, on which the screen is only 720p.

(SOLVED: 09-08-2019) Hey there everyone! Hopefully all of you are fine. I heard that LTT Forum is the best place to ask the weirdest and hardest questions till now. So lemme just ask this out. I installed a linux based OS called Manjaro a month ago or so. I completely removed Windows at that time by hitting 'Remove present OS and Install Manjaro'. But now, as it seems to me that my choice was a bad option due to the code based program installation, can't uninstall installed apps and many more stuff. Plus my mom needs windows for her own work. So I need to install Windows. But I tried to install and found that I can't install it like the usual as my hard dish format was changed while installing linux. Now, i am in a blank spot where I really don't know what to do! So can anyone here help me out in how to Install windows again on my laptop? TIA

Hey guys, so I work as a civil engineer and try to optimize/digitize my workflows. A lot of stuff work pretty good with my iPad but the architect plans are printed to DIN A1 or even A0 (PDF) . My iPad pro 10,5" can't handle that papersize and just close everything when I try to open it. So I Iike to scale the plans down to A3. We talking about a few hundreds plans. Have anybody an Idea how I can automate the progress? Just thought about having a "hot folder" with all my Plans that will automatic convert to A3 ? Would it work with a Print Server ?

Hello, I have an album that has extra tracks on a bonus DVD. Is there a way to get to the songs off the DVD as a music file like .mp3 or .flac? The video is just the title of the song and I want to be able to play them as a normal track with the rest of the album.

I'm going to buy a laptop which has an HDMI port only and I don't know if I might need more. It has a USB C, no thunderbolt though, only Gen 1 usb. Now my question is, does USB 3 Gen 1 support hdmi/dp conversion? Per example, if I buy this adapter, would it work with the 5Gbps bandwidth that the USB C port on the laptop handles? http://s.aliexpress.com/uuqEj2Mz?fromSns Thanks

So I thought Plex would play pretty much any format? I had some video files that were MP4 and my computers would stream them through Plex however my SmartTV would not. Sure enough I converted them to .mkv and whala. Everything works again. Can anyone tell me why this is? Is it the TV that isn't compatible?

I needed a program to convert .adf files to .mp3 and nothing worked. Then i found 2 codes and thought that they might work, but i have no idea how to get them running. The first one is python (2.0 i think) And when running it just flashes a black console and then closes. When opening in visual studio code i still cant get it to work... I want to do the proccess, because i like the gta VC radios and would like to convert to mp3 myself, because youtube loses a lot of quality. The next one is c++. That i cant get it to work also... I opened it in VS code, saved as a c++ file, and it doesnt open also. https://codereview.stackexchange.com/questions/75011/converting-gta-vice-city-adf-audio-files-to-mp3 If you have any idea how to help, please to. The proccess should look like this. FLASH.ADF ----> Flash.mp3

At the moment I am considering converting all of my VHS tapes to digital files. After doing some research I have come to a roadblock. The first is what type of hardware to get. The two main types are usb capture devices and the second dedicated pcie expansion cards. With the USB cables they tend to be cheaper, off brand going for $30-$50 and the elgato going for $65. The PCIE cards go for $150. With the USB ones I often see people complaining about video quality. I really just want to get this right the first time and not have to go through returns. My second concern is software. The brands i'm looking at are Elgato, StarTech.com, Diamond, and Hauppauge. With the elgato I know the software will be fine but they are on the expensive side and only have a usb version. With Startech.com and Hauppauge I'm worried that their software will be unusable. So my questions. 1. Which type of device should I get? 2. Which brand of the three i mentioned get? 3. Have you used any of the products I have mentioned?

In a nutshell I have a school project that wants me to convert an entered binary number to a decimal. Program should go something like this: User enters binary number -> binary number is converted one digit at a time -> decimal number is displayed. I am very new to C and programming in general. If you have any tips or snippets of code you could share that would be great. Thanks very much!

Ok so following up on this thread, I was curious what would a swap cost me? But being an AMD fanboy I know next to nothing about the holy land of Intel soctets and such so I turn to you guys! Given the spec of my current system and my main usage being, high end gaming and video editing/rendering. Can you please recommend me a system (CPU, MB and RAM) that will do that, and last me a good few years in the future? Price wise, I live in Norway (the land of high mountains and even higher tax) so lets keep price out of the picture for a while.. tho I might add I'm not prepaired to pay 2500 USD for a CPU so be sensible here guys!

Hello there, I need some help finding good software to convert media, primarily audio. I usually don't mind what format something is on desktop/PC because VLC Player can pretty much play anything. But on mobile, and especially the iPhone, I can only import and play music that is .mp3 or .AAC. Unfortunately trying to have everything nicely organized with iTunes is neigh impossible. I have one large folder with everything in it that I then copy a specific folder/album of music to the itunes library as a playlist and then fix the file info there if needed. Usually no problem if the music is already mp3. My problem is that I have a lot of audio files that are .mp4 and .FLAC. I know iTunes itself can convert files but I want to avoid duplicates in the library. And I know VLC and convert media as well but every time I try it just makes a tiny data file and nothing else, so I'm doing something wrong there.. So how do you convert your media/audio files? What program(s) do you prefer for converting audio? I'm looking for something that is either for Mac or PC; don't care as long as it's reliable, has good options and compatibility, doesn't ruin the bitrate or anything else(artifacts or skips) when converting down from flac to mp3, keeps the metadata, and doesn't overwrite/directly replace the original files. Also something that can do several files at once(for an album) would be nice.
