What's the best case for a household with a cat that sheds a lot of hair? I imagine easily-cleaned intake filters are a must. Luckily, the box is only for modest gaming with no OC or other heat issues. Likely a floor-standing mid-tower. Anyone have experience with good or bad PC cases for pet owners?

this thread is here to share pictures of your cate, fluffo, door mat, cat or any other cat-like creature, discuss them and just generally having fun. I also couldn't find a cat thread when I searched so there you go. I'll start:

Commercial recommendations for a network run at 1000 feet? Have a few cameras at the far end of our baseball-softball fields, both for security and for live streaming games. These are at 1000 feet from our IDF. Looking for commercial recommendations to either run GameChanger cable from Paige (vendor recommendation), through a switch somewhere in the middle or fiber the whole way? PROS/CONS and other foreseen pitfalls? After leaving our main building conduit has been pre-ran to light poles and concession stands. None of which are very well isolated from the elements, but we have put network racks in our concessions stands/press boxes. Thanks for any input provided.

Is there any news/word on the LTT cat tree?? My wife and I were super excited at the announcement, but since then it hasn't been talked about. We have a 6 yr old Blue Russian named Ashes and a new orange/white kitten named Phoenix that would love a new cat tree! Any info would be appreciated, thanks! @LinusTech

Hello, i have weird problem and i no idea what doesn't work. Firstly my specs: Gigabite 1660 6GB (rip) Aorus Z490 ELITE AC I7-10700K 2x DDR4 16Gb 3200MHz Silentumpc 750W Windows 11 So my cat spilled water yesterday on my pc (don't judge me, it was pretty far from it), i turn it off instantly and left it near heater over night. Water was only in upper radiator and on gpu backplate. Today i turn it on and gpu just killed itself, smoke from display port. After that i wanted to check what works. Pc and bios turning on without problems, cpu, ram and ssds are listed in bios and looking fine, all lights, pump and fans are on, but system doesn't want to boot. While booting from ssd with OS it's in "preparing automatic repair" loop, booting USB with installation media is just loading and loading without progress I tried: CMOS Cycling ram Gpu is unpluged Different ports Without ssds and hdds Disabling Secure boot/CMS Unplugging, plugging cables Booting linux on usb Reseting BIOS Any ideas what can be potentially broken? I don't have second pc to individually diagnose my parts. Sorry about late responses but i'm tired, mad and I will be tomorrow, Thanks

So, i was making an essay for school and my fat ass cat laid on the keyboard and this poped up on the screen. I have coretemp installed and oftes use TaskManager to monitor on temperature of the GPU. But my stupid ass cat decided to "sits" and i have this menu with all of the temperatures right there, where i can check on them and play games at the same time. How did he do it??? BTW, i tried looking it up but couldnt find anything, as they all say to just install coretemp.

Im looking to extend my net to upstairs, the length from bottom to upstas is probably around 90 meters. I did google it, it said it the no disturbance limit is around 90-100 meters, but then how does the main net wire from post to my house come without any "electricical" disturbance, it's way longer than 100m (there's a copper wire and a fiber as well). I also don't know much about Cat5,6,7, etc. All I know higher is better lol I want to buy this wire FEDUS High Speed RJ45 cat6 Ethernet Patch Internet Network Computer Gigabit Category 5E Cable/Cord/Wires for Modem, Router, LAN ADSL (100 m), recommend me wires of 100m if my choice is not good. Thanks!

As the topic says; I have a cat7 cable that I cut to a shorter length and crimped a new connecter to the now open end. I used a cable tester to verify I maintained a straight through cable config (T-568A) it was ordered correctly and I was getting signal from one end to the other. However after plugging the cable from my switch to my pc I noted that I was getting 100mbps. Using a purchased cable from the same manufacturer I was getting 1gbps so I'm not exactly sure why my cat7 cable suddenly can't do 1gbps. Some context; So in a previous post, my roommates dog chewed into my Cat7 cable and it damaged a few pairs but left the cable working but not at full speeds. I have since replaced that cable and gone on to once again enjoy my 1gbps internet, however I'm not one to just throw away a still salvageable cable, so I cut out the damaged section and re-crimped the ends, but after testing them, in my known working 1gbps setup, I can only manage 100mbps. If anybody has any kind of experience in crimping ethernet cables and knows what I could do to remedy this loss in speeds I'd be very appreciative. NOTE: I have already tried cutting it off and redoing the connection but I received the same results.

I think a drive that has various partitions on it. It is 1TB in size and I would like to close bit for bit literally everything to a new 1TB drive. I am not sure if they are the exact same size but the source drive is also my far not full yet. The source drive houses a Linux and a Windows partition amongst other stuff. I want to switch an seemlessly an possible and frem what I read either 'dd' or 'cat' (Linux CLI tools should to the job). What happens if the drives aren't exactly the same size? Will I need to repair the partition table or something of that sorts? Anything else to be aware of?

So I had this idea that sprung up to my head every time my cats sit on top of my Mid-tower PCs, since cats love anything that exhausts heat, and PCs generate a ton of heat, has anybody ever thought to make a PC build that exhausts heat to warm a cat bed? I'm new to the LTT forums but have been watching LTT and other tech videos on the internet but haven't found anything related to this which baffles me considering there are a ton of PC gamers that own cats. I'm also a relatively novice PC builder and have never attempted any builds that involve passive or water-cooling, so I wouldn't even know where to begin approaching a project like this, but if I had to guess, water-cooling would be the way. I would be content with putting a cat bed on top of my chassis, with a few stand-offs separating the top ventilation to the cat bed, but there has to be a better solution to this. Maybe this is a video idea that the LTT team can tackle in a future video? Either way, if anyone has any input or ideas for this, I'd love to hear them! Also, for anyone curious about the cat, he's a 20 month old Siamese named Gnocchi.

I have been looking for hours now trying to find an article that explains how to clean the smell of cat spray out of a keyboard properly without shorting it out. Here's the backstory: I had received a new HP Pavilion All-In-One PC after HP damaged the one that went with the keyboard/mouse combo I am referring to. Not needing it, I gave it to a relative who has a one year old cat that we gave her because our dog wasn't getting along well with it. I got it back from her after she ended up not needing it and now it smells like cat spray because the cat has not yet been fixed. He has been spraying in her house for the last 3 months. This leads me to the question of how to clean a keyboard and mouse that have been subjected indirectly to cat spray. If anyone has a solution and could share it, please do so. Thanks!!!

Hello, i am trying to add Qi wireless charging to my CAT S61 smartphone. So i bought a reciever on amazon (one of those nillkin qi tags) which connects per usb-c to your phone and you can stick that at your bach-cover. but i want my phone to still be waterproof because thats the main reason i went for this CAT-Phone. I opened the phone already and put the tag under the back cover and it works BUT i have to solder the contacts of the tag to the contacts of my connector. And i am not sure which lanes i have to connect and where exactly they are. The Plan is that i can still charge through usb-c if needed and use it as a data connection to my PC. Can someone help me and tell me which lanes i have to add and where i have to solder them to? I know that usb-c dont work like micro-usb because there is like a master-slave relationship going on and i dont know if i have to connect the data lanes and the cc lanes. at the inside of the tag i can see that there are alot of lanes connected. i will send a photo of the disassembled tag if someone needs it. here is the link to the tag: https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B07H8XG9SN/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 thats the connector: https://www.mobiltec24.de/CAT/S61/Ladeanschluss-USB-Buchse-Ladestecker.html please excuse my english, i am from Austria Thanks for you help =)

GRRRRR Okay, Guys i'm new here this is my first post, But i have been watching linus since his NCIX days. I need some help here pronto! My damn cat wont stop jumping on my new tower i just built. I didn't mind it before with my old PC because it was getting to the point to where I no longer cared about it anymore lol, but my new tower is in the gloss black finished s340 case and i'm afraid he is going to scratch it. Not to mention about 50% of his jumps onto my PC he hits the power button and my PC starts to shut down during a gaming session. This is become a pretty serious problem actually, he will inadvertently shut my PC off at least 4-5 times a night. So if anyone could be so kind and share with me ways you keep your cat off your tower, PLEASE let me know. THANKS! :):)

I'm planning to get a cat sometime soonish, I haven't decided on breed and would take recommendations but I have some concerns regarding the damage the cat can cause. Like many of you, I have a large assortment of electronics and computers scattered around my house, and am wondering how this will work out with a cat. Similarly furniture, decoration pieces shelves... how will that work out? It would be great some of you can share personal experiences and tips to cat-proof my house. Thanks!

hi, i am looking for a new mouse. i hold it in fingertip grip. my middle finger for scroll and right click. i tried some mouses in a shop and i really liked speedlink decus and trust gtx 155, because they were pretty comfortable for my ring finger. the sensors are a9500 and a3050. are they any good for todays gaming? do you have recommendations for a good mouse with a nice place for a ringfinger, maybe from more common companys like logitech, corsair etc? greets from germany my setup is black-blue-rgb, so it shouldn't be available in f.e. red only

Hiya, I had a question about the case I was going to purchase for my new build. I was considering strongly the Phantek Enthoo Pro M due to the 5.25" bay which is essential for me, and the airflow capabilities with the case. My problem, however, is that I want to keep the most dust and cat hair out of it as much as possible. Since this particular case has an exposed top that the cat may sit on (albeit with a magnetic dust filter) and intakes on the side of the front panel that are actually BEHIND the dust filter, should I consider another [budget] case when taking into consideration the cat? If so, which ones? My build is the following, for reference if at all necessary: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/MBndKZ Thank you!

The offices of Fundació puntCAT, the people managing the ".cat" TLD have been raided by Spanish police. The company was asked to block all domains that contain any content regarding the upcoming referendum in Catalonia, which they refused to do, resulting in the raid. This is highly unusual, usually censorship is done at the ISP level and not by trying to force the domain registrar to remove domains. Existing domains will most likely not be affected by this raid, because the actual DNS infrastructure is managed by CORE and not Fundació puntCAT. Their CTO has been arrested and charged with "sedition". He is still detained by Spanish police. source: https://www.internetnews.me/2017/09/20/dotcat-registry-offices-raided-spanish-police/

Hi LTT! I wonder if there is any program that I can put in the taskbar, And then if I press on it with my mouse, It will disable ALL keyboard inputs, and then if I press on it again, The keyboard inputs will be activated again? This would help me so much because often my cat decided to just jump up on the table to check so everything is alright and walks on the keyboard from time to time which can be annoying depending on what task I am doing, Just wondering if there is any program that does this? I don't mind if it's free or have a license Thanks LTT!

Hey guys! Big fan of the LTT youtube and have just decided to join the forums! I looked around and decided this would be the best place to post first as it's super relevant to me. Very soon (hopefully) I am going to upgrade my PC. It's way out of date and the maint hing I use it for is gaming, so considering it's specs I'm honestly surprised it hasn't died yet. Sometimes in summer it overheats and shuts off and I recently have begun to get an occasional blue screen for seemingly no reason. It's also very loud and I often leave it on overnight so it's HIGH time for an upgrade. My current specs are: Intel Core i7 CPU 930 @2.8GHz 6GB of RAM Radeon HD 6950 GPU Win10 Pro, 64-bit So pretty outdated. Especially for gaming. I should also mention I'd like to be able to stream a little bit, but understand that it takes a lot to get that going and thus it isn't something I'm rushing into, or even itching to get started asap. I've named my PC "Jinx II" after my cat. When I moved out of home at 18 I unfortunately could not bring my cat with me and my Dad did not want to hold on to her, so he gave her away - don't fret, she's not dead. My girlfriend actually discovered that she is living happily with another family now, at some point when I was being a sook about missing her ,) So, when I upgrade, I will aptly rename the system Jinx III, thus continuing the life cycle in my heart. I'm thinking about putting some faux fur on top of the tower so I can pet it and imagine she's really here. (Just kidding...) Anyway, I am only 21 years old so my budget is fairly small. I don't want to go over $1500 but probably will end up doing it over time anyway. And that's fine, it's something I almost constantly use and gaming is one of the few things I really really love to do! I'm based in AUS, by the way. So, down to business. I have two decent enough 1080p monitors, both currently connected to my GPU via DVI cables. I will keep both of these. I have an 850W PSU, a 2TB HDD, and a 140GB SSD, all of which I will also keep instead of replacing. What I WILL be replacing is the Motherboard, CPU, GPU, RAM, Fans, and the Case. I won't need any speakers or a keyboard/mouse or anything else like that. Here is the list of hardware I've picked out. ASUS ROG Strix B350-F Gaming AM4 ATX Desktop Motherboard AMD Ryzen 5 1600 3.2Ghz 19MB AM4 Retail Box - With Fan ASUS Radeon RX580 STRIX OC 8GB GDDR5 G.Skill 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 Fortis C15 2133MHz (For AMD) Deepcool Tesseract Black/Red Mid Tower w/Side Window *** Note I will also be buying a couple of HDMI cables to replace the DVIs I have right now, lol. Also, I have chosen this case because it has the kind of airflow I will need due to where it will be sitting, and comes with fans pre-installed. Also, it has a window to show off all my fancy new RBG lighting ,) I don't believe that I'll need to buy a new copy of Windows as I have linked mine to my Microsoft account and should be able to reinstall it under that by saying I have changed hardware in the troubleshooter after I rebuild and boot up. All up this will cost me about $1325 AUD from the best supplier I know of around here (PLE Computers, or PC Case Gear). I've done a fair bit of research on my own and talked to my Dad about it (he knows his stuff) but I figured before I jump in I should post somehwere like here and get some more opinions or even advice on making it better, plus make sure I haven't picked parts that aren't going to work for me (though I'm pretty sure I've done a good job...) This will be the first PC I ever build as my current one was built by my Dad and served as our home PC until he gave it to me when I moved out. What a guy, hey? Let me know what you guys think - I'm super excited to get this project started and build my own PC, as well as to finally upgrade my box of bolts and be able to play newer games, or even some older/current games on better settings with better FPS. Cheers!
