I am beyond 40 years old and embarrassed to admit that I've never owned a phone/smartphone, Could someone suggest both a cheapest monthly for the service +cheaper monthly for payments toward the phone. I'd like to keep this under $50 per monthly or close. I need a 3 phone bundle, if that is even possible. Thanks for reading, considering and any help you can provide, and have a happy day or night.

Hey Canadians, I'm going on a 4 week trip in your hopefully beautifull country, this is what our trip will look like: The question is: what mobile carrier / service provider (how are they called over there?) should I pick? I got little to no use for phonecalls or sms/mms stuff and mainly need unlimited Data (if possible) with very good coverage along my route. So: What should I pick? Rogers?

How do i unlock this phone? I bought this phone from somebody who said that it was unlocked. When I put my sim card in it, it asks for a "SIM network unlock PIN". Is this normal for an unlocked phone? If so, how do i get this unlock pin? The phone is originally an ATT phone, so i went through their network unlock claim service and they said that this phone wasn't eligible because its device payments had not been fully payed off. Isn't there a tool I can use on my computer and unlock the phone via usb like when you root a phone?

Sources: EE Samsung Galaxy Fold Tweet | Samsung Galaxy Fold on EE Website | Samsung & EE Bring Galaxy Fold to UK Samsung and EE have collaborated to announce that the Samsung Galaxy Fold is coming to the UK, but there's a twist, through carriers, it will be EE exclusive. EE's CEO, Marc Allera, also pitched in his say on the exclusive deal with Samsung: The official RRP according to the above Samsung article states £1800, which come with Galaxy Buds and a Kevlar case to boot. However for EE, the priceplans are yet to be announced, however customers (not just EE ones) can enter EE's website and subscribe to updates regarding the Samsung Galaxy Fold such as pricing plans, release dates, and general news about the device. I'm currently with EE so having that exclusivity is no problem for me if I wanted to try out the Samsung Galaxy Fold, although that being said, I'm not too fond of the Fold to be begin with. Perhaps I'll pop into an EE store at release and try one out for myself. I'm also intrigued as to how this device will be priced, as the retail is £1800. That might be an expensive plan depending on the plan that it gets paired with. I just took a look at the iPhone XS plan for EE, which offers 100GB of monthly mobile data, unlimited calls & texts, and the 64GB iPhone XS 64GB itself, all for £88 a month, with £10 of that being for phone itself. We'll just have to see in May. It'll be interesting to see how competitors feel about this exclusivity deal, and how it will all unfold once the device is released.

I'll be studying in St. John's in the coming winter session. I am pretty much new to the carriers in Canada minus Linus rambling about it from time to time over the years on the WAN show. Being completely new I wanted to ask about any general pointers, carriers to avoid and decent plans you would recommend. ? A little background I got a unlocked LG G6. Don't know if I'll be calling much. I can probably survive with 500mb plan since I'll have a proper internet at the place I am planning to stay at. Any info would be of great help

So after finding out that you can change a network locked phone to the carrier of your choice, I've made the decision to buy a T-Mobile LG G5 because it has an unlocked bootloader which will allow me to install a custom recovery and such for rooting. The Verizon version of the G5 simply doesn't allow such things. Bootloader issues and such. My concern is will flashing a custom recovery once the T-Mobile G5 is network unlocked revert those settings? Will it stay unlocked for me to use my Verizon SIM or once flashed will it only accept a T-Mobile SIM?

I live in Canada. I saw an iPhone 6s locked to sprint which is blacklisted for 200$ (a fraction of a non blacklisted price). Will this phone work in Canada if I carrier unlock it. In other words, does the sprint blacklist affect it in Canada? Thanks.

Hello, I am trying to get a phone on eBay. I am looking at the 6s+. I found one which states its locked to ATT and has a bad MEID. I am in Canada, I know a good website which you can use to unlock phones for ~10-15$. I have unlocked my past phones with it. Does this mean I can just unlock the iphone and get it to work with rogers? Does it not matter that the MEID is bad because I'm in Canada and not the USA? To sum it up I'm in Canada, so buying a bad ESN or MEID american locked phone should be no different then buying a carrier locked phone interms of trying to unlcok to get it to work in Canada. Also is it possible to unlock iclouded phones? https://iphoneimei.net/unlock-iphone/remove-icloud-account-from-iphone?aff=WTLS That website says they do it for 43$, or is it basically a scam. Thanks

Holy crap. Fedex is probably the most inept carrier out there. TWO TIMES they 'tried' to deliver my new r610, but "couldn't" because they were too lazy. I would show a screenshot, but it has personal info on it and im only on an ipad. But seriously Fedex, TWO TIMES? They tried to deliver my package TWO TIMES to the front office, at 8:00 pm. And by the way fedex, the front office closes at 6:00, because 6:00 is NORMAL CLOSING HOURS. I have to have this server configured fast, as O have a lan event that it will be crucial in.

Hi, I've been given a spear Iphone 4S which used to belong to my cousin but I don't know what carrier it's locked too so I need a way to check via way of the IMEI number. Because it's requiring me to go through the activation process and thus I can't reach the "about" section in the OS. Also I can't ask my cousin as he's not around for at least 6 months. Thank you for you're help in advance

Verizon was great while I had my iPhone 4s, but Big Red isn't so kind to Android phone makers - they stuff them with bloatware, disable features, and they are a CDMA network (though, that applies to iOS and Android Devices). The point is, as I was looking into getting the LG G4, and the reviews on Verizon's website said that they disabled a bunch of the cool features, and put a bunch of bloat on it. That doesn't sound too appealing to me, nor does the prospect of being on a CDMA network now that I'm smart enough to know why it matters. As such, I am considering switching carriers so that I can get the phone that I want to pay for. Sprint is pretty much already out since since they are CDMA only. So that leaves AT&T and T-Mobile. Have any of you had experiences with these two carriers and would you reccomend a switch to them? I'm in the US, if you didn't pick up on that already.

According to an article posted just a couple of hours ago on the CNET Magazine's website, T-Mobile has already, or is soon poised, to take over Sprint's place as the third largest mobile provider. While the details are currently being contested by both sides, it appears that Sprint has been counting over 1.7 million users who have been inactive for more than six months. They claim that they've always followed this practice and that they don't discount users until a retail outlet partner updates them on a user's status. While not necessarily a tremendous ethics violation, it's still hard for me not to imagine a politician getting caught registering voters for the deceased and then stating, "I only used the votes of those deceased for which I did not directly receive a death certificate." So what do you guys think about both Sprint's marketing "strategy," and T-Mobile's worthiness in beating it out for the #3 spot? So I recently updated my galaxy s5 to the newest version of android (Lollipop). For some reason, since this update, my 3g/LTE are just not working. The icon is always displayed at the top that shows I am connected to 3g but there is no service found. Yes, my mobile data is on and It's set to CDMA/LTE and i even tried switching to automatic. The people at sprint's customer support were NO help at all! They even told me to factory restored my phone and the problem still persists!! Can anyone please help me or guide me through this at all? It would be greatly appreciated!

If you listen closely, you can hear the cries of existing carriers as they figure out how they're going to survive if Google decides to push into the wireless carrier segment and offer the same bonkers good pricing on their phone plans. The key that Google understands is that people don't care about voice or texting anymore - they want DATA. Lots of it. They don't want to be hamstrung on the go, they don't want to rely on WiFi for everything. If Google shows up and says "15GB plan for 35 a month", who wouldn't jump on that? http://mashable.com/2015/03/02/google-confirms-wireless-carrier-service/

I was just thinking, since it's illegal now for carriers to carrier lock phones, is it also illegal for them to lock the boot loader of phones? It would be really sweet if I could just get verizon to unlock my S3 bootloader so I can finally install a custom ROM.

Hi, I am planning on ordering the Oppo Find 7 online. I live in Vancouver BC, Canada and am subscribed to the Telus carrier. There are two options on oppostyle.com: the US and international versions. Because this is my first time ordering a phone off contract, I want to make sure that the phone I want actually works with my carrier. The US version apparently is the only version with a North American wall charger, while the international one has an Asian/European plug. Would the US version work in Canada or will I need to buy the International Version? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I am currently using an iPhone 5, which I did not pick out as my father and sister went to upgrade without me. It's not bad by any means and have been serving me well, but I ready for something where I can have more control over my device and better battery life, so Android is the way to go for me. So I'm finally eligible for a phone upgrade on my family's Sprint plan and was wondering about a few things. How is Sprint with pushing Android updates out to phones? Are they faster than most carriers or are you stuck in Android purgatory? Since I am coming from an Apple device where it's bloat free, how much bloat, if any, does Sprint put onto their devices? Please and Thank you.

This is the Largest cramming settlement in history... AT&T has agreed to pay $105 million for "cramming" unauthorized charges on the monthly bills of its wireless customers, federal and state regulators announced Wednesday The charges -- typically $9.99 per month -- came from third-party services for things like trivia, horoscopes and love tips. AT&T is accused of keeping at least 35% of the fees, as well as obscuring the charges on bills and preventing customers from securing full refunds. *FTC chairwoman The deal is the largest cramming settlement in history, it includes the Federal Communications Commission, the Federal Trade Commission, as well as all 50 states plus the District of Columbia.. Some $80 million of the settlement has been set aside for customer refunds, along with $25 million in penalties due to regulators AT&T said in a statement that it and a number of wireless carriers had offered third-party "Premium Short Messaging Services" in the past few years Now that's a story worth reading, Post your intersting comments & thoughts down below.. Hey guys, I live in Canada, Calgary, and I am nearing the time to get a phone (I'm 16). I'm still deciding on a phone (iPhone 6 or Moto X or Nexus 5) but that doesn't really matter now. I have limited knowledge on the topic of carriers and plans but I do know that the big three in Canada (Bell, Telus, Rogers) are basically crap in terms of everything but coverage. You hear all of this good stuff from T-Mobile like at CES and I've always wondered, why doesn't T-Mobile come to Canada and why do us Canadians have such s**tty phone plans? Wind has some decent plans but they lack coverage from what I've heard. Somebody please inform me on this topic. I also know from Linus that the population density isn't the greatest here but that should not reason to high priced stuff.

Rate your cellphone carrier & write your experience or a review if possible about it, also add your comment on which carrier would you never use again?
