Hello everyone, I'm creating this topic hoping someone managed to solve my issue. I was having countless issues with FanXpert/Ai Suite (specifically my fan curves would stop working during long idle periods and the temperatures would skyrocket for whatever reason, forcing the computer to shutdown sometimes). Long story short I finally installed FanControl and got a new round of issues to solve in hope to reach a definitive configuration. Some info on my setup: Motherboard: ASUS Zenith Extreme Alpha II Sensor chipset: Nuvoton NCT6798D Noctua PWM Fans connected on CHA Fan 1 and CHA Fan 2 headers I removed VRMs Fan and heatsink (there is a waterblock) AsusWMI Plugin installed but doesn't initialize (no sensors found) Current Issues: FanControl is intermittently fighting to gain control over both CHA Fan 1 and 2. After further investigation I have random RPM ramp ups on all headers (even unplugged ones), images attached: neither the fan curves nor BIOS settings justify this behavior, it doesn't seem triggered by temperatures either. The peaks you see in the "Control [%]" sections should not be there, the temps should be higher that 80° to justify a peak and that is not the case as shown in the graph. After further investigation I found this, this and this which seem to indicate a bug in the management of the fans themselves. Not sure how to solve it. Is there anyway to check which program is trying to take control on the fans at any given time? Just to make sure it is not software related but BIOS related. What I tried so far: I disabled Ai Suite from starting on logon because I thought it was conflicting with FanControl. Probably not the case as I'm facing the same issues with or without it. Specifically I killed startup applications and the following services: ARMOURY CRATE Service, ASUS AURA SYNC lighting service, ASUS Com Service, ASUS HM Corn Service, ASUS System Control Service, AsusFanControlService, AsusROGLSLService Download, ROGLSLoader. I had to use CHA Fan 1 and CHA Fan 2 headers because CPU headers were too restrictive in their setting (no Stop Fan options, can't change reference sensor, etc.). Following some advice given by the FanControl community I setup CHA Fan 2 in DC mode (it is a PWM fan) that allows me to enable Stop Fan (0%) but still control it via PWM. I couldn't do the same with CHA Fan 1, I had to set it to PWM. I have no idea why. Both PWM and DC modes need to set a curve so I did so, I suspect these are the settings FanControl is fighting with but I don't believe it's possible to turn off "smart" controls and retain "turn off fans" function. This is somewhat of a crosspost. I hope someone here can help me solve the issue or at least understand what is going on.

I have been waiting a wile to do this but I'm doing it now. I have been having boot issues with my computer, every time I turn it on and boot it boots up to the windows loading screen but then doesn't load. This was the cause of a BIG overclocking failure, after that happened I found a new but not so good computer to run my system in. I really need some help here! I have tried flashing the bios, transferring my files to another storage device, even other boot devices. I also did a whole hardware teardown taking everything out then reassembling it, still didn't work. I don't know if it has become a piece of junk or just to hard for me to fix. My Specks: Sabretooth 990FX R2.0 Amd 9590FX Kingston 8GB 240-pin PC3L Ram Original Hard Drive: Western Digital Black Desktop Hard Drive 3Tb (WD3003FZEX) New Storage Device: Samsung evo 850 250GB PNY Nvidia Quadro 600 (i know, its very bad) PSU: Cooler Master G750M I really hope there is a way to fix this piece of junk in my room, other wise I have an expensive foot heater which would give me 3 degree burns. If there is a way for me to put my system files on the ssd then that would be great, if not then that is fine I just want it to work again.

Hey all, I recently upgraded my mobo to a Asus Strix B550a and was able to install a Ryzen 5 5600x to match my Zotac Amp Holo 3080, but almost a week in im getting kernel power issues out of nowhere. It first happened in Red Dead Online in the middle of a mission (I dont even have the game jn full screen and its on medium settings), and now 3/4 times I launch Hunt: Showdown, my computer restarts. The strangest thing though, its thay This started happening after I installed a new 1tb ssd, so I'm not really sure whats up. I've already made sure that: -gpu has 2 independent power cables -my power plans are good as they should be -updated gpu, mobo, chipset and other drivers -deleted icue -checked psu connections on mobo -ran hci memtest to check the ram -ran msi afterburner to check if cpu could run at 100 for extended amounts of time my build: mobo: asus rog strix b550a cpu: ryzen 5 5600x gpu: zotac amp holo 3080 memory: gskill ripjaws series V 2400 ddr4 2x8gb psu: seasonic 850w gold 1tb hard drive a 150gb ssd (boot drive), a 500ssd and a 1tb ssd

Ahoy! Today I was the lucky recipient of a very shitty yet competent looking PC that serves well for my multimedia purposes on TV. That being said, it does not turn on. Try as I might, nothing worked. So I pulled out the power cables, and I plugged around... for an hour, with the manual, and nothing worked. I also found this weird white connector from the power supply, that had this like wedge shape like as if it were to fit in a kind of notch. Anyways, I'm stumped. How do I connect it all? A sort of visual representation of how to lay it out would be nice. Thank you, and I'm sorry if I seem a little dumb or I just missed something, I just kind of had a long day )': -RA111

So I have a Asus TUF GAMING X570-PLUS (WI-FI) ATX AM4 Motherboard. I am planning on using both M.2 drives. The drives soul reason for being in the system is to be my boot drive in a raid 1 setup. Along with having Final Fantasy XIV on it. (Take your shot after you answer the question). My question is, will the M.2 drive need cashe? The plugs need type M. Also recommendations for drive welcomed. (Newegg or pcpartpicker) I don't need anything over 500gb. Thank you in advance.

Hi Everyone, how's everyone doing please be patient and read through the whole message and the comments. I'm sending a long message coz this is what i've sent in Reddit, ROG forums, tom's hardware, PC Advisor, Whirpool and still waiting for replies. I've mentioned the whole thing from first to start please be kind enough to read and comment. I just finished my build with the following components: CPU Intel skylake 1151 pin i5 6600k Motherboard = Asus Z170 ROG MAXIMUS VIII RANGER SSD Samsung 850 EVO 250G Hard drive Seagate 3.5 Barracuda 1TB VGA 8G GTX 1070 Gigabyte G1 Gaming Memory 16G Kit (8Gx2) 3000 Corsair Vengeance Black Case Coolermaster MasterCase Pro 5 PSU Corsair Corsair 80+ Gold Semi-Modular CS650M Sound Card Creative PCI-E Sound Blaster Audigy Fx Case Fan – Corsair 140mm Quite and High Air Flow LED Case Fan White CPU Cooler – Coolermaster Universal Hyper-212x I hope i've listed all the necessary parts, so I just finished my build and when i start the motherboard it doesn't boot up giving out the error Q-code 99. So i've searched the manual and found out that means "Super IO initialization". I've searched over this problem over the forum and after seeing many suggestions i tried removing all the cards (Graphic, sound, one ram) and tried to boot with just the CPU and the Cooler with just one stick of ram and i get the error d6 which means "no console output devices are found"(although I've connected my display port to the motherboard). Now i tried just the graphic card and see how it goes and it gives out the error b6 which means "Clean-up of NVRAM". I've seen on the internet of people suggesting to do a USB BIOS FLASHBACK and so i downloaded BIOS 1408 renamed it as M3R.ROM and did that now the motherboard says 99(disconnected the VGA). 'BOOT_DEVICE LED' and 'VGA_LED' glow up as yellow and white respectively(although i think VGA glows coz i didn't connect one) but the BOOT_DEVICE just glows up and the boot doesn't start. I did not connect any SSD or HDD although if i do so the error just changes one of the three again (99, b6 or d6) and the BOOT_DEVICE still glows. Long message i know but now for the request part. PLEASE OH PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEAAAAZZZZZ help me someone out there please. i've tried everything and now i cant help but consider did i fry my motherboard. Also one last thing i've seen many sites say something about the motherboards beeping if there is a problem but the mastercase just gave me the LEDs but no speaker jumper so i figured that's y i could'nt hear anything so i just want to know does the master give out a speaker jumper, i've searched it thorough and coudl'nt find one. And one more thing.... PLEAAAASEEEEEE guys help me **

Hi all! I'm new here, but I've been watching LTT for the longest time. I'm finally in a position where I have the money to spend on a desktop. I want to have all four RAM slots available in this build, so before I buy a cooler, I need to figure out the proper cooler size and which one to buy. I know this is a commonly asked question, but every build is different, especially in this regard. It's a Ryzen build, so of course the cooler also needs to be able to support AM4. I have the mobo and case already. I'll also add in the RAM for reference. The names of them are: Asus - ROG Crosshair VII Hero (Wi-Fi) ATX AM4 Motherboard Cooler Master - MasterBox Pro 5 RGB ATX Mid Tower Case (Buying two sets) Kingston - Savage 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3000 Memory Info on the case: My friend had a previous gen Masterbox Pro and had the impression that this one had two removable side panels. This one only has one. The dimensions of the case are 19.7 x 8.7 x 18.7 in If anyone has some suggestions on a compact cooler that will fit in the case, keep the system running strong, and allow me to use all four RAM slots, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hello, I have an ASUS Prime B350M-A mobo and it does have an RGB header, but, I don't know how it works; I know, total newb. I already checked on ASUS' website, and according to them, this mobo does not support their Aura Sync software. So, if I plug in led strips with an RGB header plug can I control them with software on my PC? Or will they just stay on constantly? Thank you Specs: MB: ASUS Prime B350M-A CPU: Ryzen 5 1400 GPU: MSI Armor RX580 RAM: 8GB Adata XPG

So I recently purchased 2, 240 Gb Intel 730 series SSDs and have placed them into Raid 0 on my Asus X99-Pro. Now I am trying to install Windows 8 Pro, with the correct Intel Raid drivers, and I continually get the message "Windows cannot be installed to this disk. This computer's hardware may not support booting to this disk. Ensure that the disk's controller is enabled in the computer's BIOS menu." I have tried every possible solution I can think of, been on the support line for hours with Intel, Asus and Microsoft as well as taking the computer to a local tech repair shop but to no avail. Any help would be greatly appreciated and if it can be fixed quickly and easily because I am overlooking something simple even better. Thanks!

Hey guy this is my last piece for my build which I've been thinking over, I'm stuck on which motherboard to get between those two, personally I don't mind the premium for the deluxe or the pro compared to the A and AR series from ASUS but which one would you recommend.

So ive got a lot of questions here, and most of them are related to overclocking... First of all, my primary concern is to make sure i can disable the integrated graphics of the APU. Second, is that ive heard that APU's have compatibility issues with some graphics cards, so i want to make sure that the GTX 760 can work well with the APU... third of all, How do i overclock my 5600k with an ASUS F2A85-V PRO FM2 AMD A85X (Hudson D4) SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard and the corsair H100? And finally, is im getting the Corsair Vengeance pro memory (8gb 1600mhz) and im wondering if its easy to overclock it? (i know they were meant for Ocing) - Thanks Flight1sim
