Would it be better to go for vr, or triple screen sim setup with my specs. My specs: 16gb ram Nvidia gtx 1050ti Intel i5 4570 I would play assetto corsa and dirt rally 2 at a resolution of 3720 by 1080 i get around 40fps at max settings. Which one would be better, and which one could i actually run

Coming from the perspective that I've been a Vive user for the past 2 years plus, I've always enjoyed it. Except for the wires. So if you look back into my post history, you'll see that I am at a gigantic turning point for my existence in the tech sphere. I am upgrading from a 1080/7700/16GB Alienware prebuild to a 3080FTW3, 5600X and 32GB of RAM. I figured that since I was making such a leap with my computer, I might as well make a leap in my VR headset as well. I'm really looking for a wireless experience with higher fidelity than the Vive offers. So the Quest 2 ticks the boxes. I just have questions about the performance. I play Assetto Corsa, AMS2, ACC, etc. And while my rig will be more than capable of pushing out the pixels at 60fps in pancake mode, I'm quite concerned about the VR aspect. I already struggle to get 50+fps in AC in the Vive on track by myself with a borrowed 3070 so what should I expect with my new system should I choose to purchase the Quest 2? I run Sol, CSP, etc on AC just to be perfectly clear. (Edit:) I also would love to know if the headset has the terrible god rays that the Vive's lenses have. Y'all were VERY helpful last time so I can't wait for a response

So my friend just bought Assetto Corsa Competizione to play it with me but when he tried to play he couldn't use his brake or throttle because his pedals use the same axis for them. The wheel he has is the Hori Apex (wired). We already tried a couple of things: - The wheel mode is set to ps-n and pd - Updating the firmware, but it was already up to date - Tried resetting the wheel - Tried changing the config of the wheel in windows because someone on the steam forum said they did it like that but we couldn't find anything because their explanation was very unclear - Tried changing the controls.json of the game: { "axisIndex": 2, "axisCode": "Gas", "minRange": 0, "maxRange": -1, "isCombined": true }, { "axisIndex": 2, "axisCode": "Brake", "minRange": 0, "maxRange": 1, "isCombined": true } Thanks in advance

Budget (including currency): $500, but really looking for value. I am privileged to be able to afford pretty much any Ryzen CPU, but I value making smart financial decisions Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Sim Games in VR, especially Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and Assetto Corsa/iRacing Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I built a PC 3 years ago with a Ryzen 5 3600 and a GTX 1660 Super (with a B450 Tomahawk Max II mobo, 2x8GB DDR4 3200 ram, and a crucial 1TB SSD) and have been looking to upgrade for a bit. Now that prices are finally down I splurged and got a 3080 a couple months ago. My plan is to stagger upgrades, that way I don't overwhelm my monthly budget all at once, and it keeps me relatively up to date. So since I've now got the GPU, my next plan is the CPU. From my experience the 3600 + 3080 combo can play most normal games at 1440p without being bottlenecked by the CPU too hard, and for most games that I'm viewing on a flat screen, I'm not that worried about the difference between 80fps and 100fps, but in VR, and especially in sims, it does get bogged down to a point where it's noticeable in VR (which is not great because motion sickness, immersion breaking, etc). I'm almost certain its the CPU bottlenecking since I can run at a smooth 90Hz on my Reverb G2 in Assetto Corsa until I add a couple bots, when it can drop to 60Hz and even lag to 30Hz, not great in VR. I plan on playing MSFS eventually as well when I get a flight stick and I've heard that game is brutally CPU bound. I do some video editing, 3d modeling as well, but I'm not overly concerned about render times really. The 3600 is working just to my liking so far for those applications. Since I have the B450 motherboard (that does have the latest bios), I think I'm only looking for AM4 chips, since I think in most cases it won't make financial sense to get a new CPU and a new motherboard. In my research it seems like the Ryzen 7 5800X3D is my best bet really, but I'm concerned it could be a waste of money. Seems like in some applications the 5800X can match it and the 5700X can come close for like $100-200 less. The notable exception however is MSFS where the 5800X3D seems to dominate, and I'm wondering if other sim games could be similarly making use of that extra L3 cache. I do not mind overclocking as I consider myself very tech savvy, however I'm running a mid tower case and might not have much room for a big cooler (just running the AMD stock one right now). Plus if I have to buy an aftermarket cooler as well as the CPU that will add to the cost. I am considering picking up a different case since they are relatively cheap and the 3080 barely fits in my current one lol, but not 100% sure on that yet. Thanks in advance for the advice! Welcome to the post, need help picking a laptop pls I live in Indonesia, if you need grasp of my currency value then im gonna compare a price of this laptop in US (Acer Predator Helios 300) to my region's price (also USD's value to my currency just got up from usual) Acer Predator Helios 300 i7-9750H 6c/12t GTX 1660 Ti 144Hz 1080p 16GB DDR4 512GB SSD in Amazon US $1129 The same frikin laptop here convert to USD $1396 Adding insult to injury, this acer would be called hard for the average people here to afford, for scale i've heard my fellow Indonesian (an average Senior High School Student) waiting and saving money for 2 months to buy a $160-180 phone (Realme, meh) while in the US people with some 10USD savings can afford it in a time of around 100 days Ok now, as title suggests, how much power is it required to play, say Assetto Corsa on a laptop? I've got my only candidate to this date, Lenovo Ideapad S340 with Ryzen 5 3500U, 60Hz 1080p IPS display, 512GB SSD and 8GB dual channel RAM roughly at $470 USD (currency converted). From performance analogy, last gen's Laptop APU the R5 2500U is about as close to R3 2200G and the R5 3500U is about substantially better, correct me if there are mistakes please. I could also look for help if there are any similar spec laptops or better at the $450-500 price range to add in to my research, also could I be getting away with decent performance in video production demands as well (Ai, Blender, Vegas Pro line) with the current candidate? Thanks for every answer and attention

Hi guys, I just bought a G920 set up with a cockpit (I havent identified it yet but the closest thing I found that it looks like is a GT Omega ART) that has a thrustmaster TH8A attached. Im trying to set up VR on assetto corsa but I need help as the title suggests. I've been researching for a while and im not sure if its because its 4AM and im sleep deprived or if everything out there on the topic is just spread so far and wide, but I cant seem to get a straight forward tutorial/walkthrough of how to set up the rift for AC, I found a few videos on youtube but they're a few years old and aren't applicable anymore (atleast with my setup/settings) for a bit more of a background I just got assetto corsa and this whole rig today so im super green in the simracing department. I guess i'd like to think im tech savvy enough to figure most things out but this ones stumping me/im too excited and impatient right now, to put the time in figuring it all out myself. Ideally someone that has experience using the oculus rift on assetto corsa in 2019 is who im looking for help from, but if you have any applicable experience in the topic your input is still viable. Genuinely any help would be appreciated. Thanks guys, im off to bed for now but will be straight back into this in the morning.

Hi guys. Whenever I play Assetto Corsa, my PC shuts off after about 2 minutes. My specs are a R5 1600, HD 7970 Ghz, Corsair TX650M Gold Asus Prime B350 plus I can't figure out any reason why it would do that. Any advice would be appreciated.

Sometimes it crashes within 5 min of launching and sometimes its like 45 min after. And as far as i can tell its only assetto corsa. I've played rocket league, pubg, gangbeasts, and a few other games for min 30 min and none of those games have crashed.

Hi, there is an offer in which you can buy the game Assetto Corsa + all dream packs and cost you less than buying the 3 dlc´s appart (if you want to see it AC + DLC´s url: https://www.g2a.com/assetto-corsa-dream-packs-steam-key-global-i10000008713004 ) The problem is that i already have Assetto Corsa and i don´t know if when i buy this bundle it would give me only one key with Assetto Corsa + DLC´s or 4 keys so i can easily introduce in my own game this 3 DLC´s and the game key i could give to some friend. So if anyone have buyed this bundle and can help me would be very nice, thanks!

I recently purchased Assetto Crosa (AC from here on) and i do like the game overall, one thing that i have been struggling with though is setting up the Force Feedback (FFB from here on) to be similar to that of Project Cars (pCars from here on). I have been dabling with the settings but i havnt had luck in getting the FFB stiffer to be closer to that of pCars. I know that they are two different games, but i really think the stearing on AC is way too light and gets even lighter when understeering. i have no idea what my wheels are doing and its really causing me problems. i treid increasing the gain but all that did was make the wheel super shaky and caused vibrations that make earthquakes feel like cellphone vibration. I am using a logitech G29 with shifter. please help

Due for 2017 refresh. As you can probably tell from the title, this thread is being presented as an extension of The Garage, an area of the Linus Tech Tips forums where automotive enthusiasts can come together and speak words that express their amazement for the physical world, regardless of whether it has four wheels or not. Full credit to @techswede and everybody else in that thread for their thriving success (1,200+ pages!) and may it continue for many years to come. Also, while LTT does already have an existing Gaming Screenshots thread, it is much too cluttered for the purposes I’m proposing here, and it would be impractical to start new threads for videos. Hat tip to the members in either sub-community on their work and showing that there is a place on this forum for such media. I am hereby formally inviting all members of the Linus Tech Tips forum to continue sharing their admiration for car culture of the digital kind. Despite the two titles listed as the main focus of this thread, I will keep it open to any racing titles produced for either the PC or console platforms, be they arcade, simulator, or a hybrid of the two. Exceptions include, but are not limited to, motorcycle & ATV titles and any of the simulation experiences produced by Dovetail Games. Content presented as either moving or still pictures must adhere to the LTTF Code of Conduct; as for moderation, I will be keeping it to a minimum but will intervene as I see fit. Without further ado, let’s get some administrative things out of the way! GENERAL GUIDELINES I don’t actively race, can I still participate? Absolutely! Much like club-racing in real life, I want to keep this thread as open as possible so we have plenty of room to grow. Whether you just want to drop by and check things out, are an actively contributing member, or are on the fence about purchasing a particular game, just leave a post and somebody will reply ASAP! We’re all super friendly and we (read: most of us) won’t bite. What games are eligible for sharing here? Preferably I’d like to keep it focused on the aforementioned games and exceptions, but I will be open to any game released after 2000. Examples include, but are not limited to: any CodeMasters game, any Need for Speed game, Driveclub, The Crew, rFactor, iRacing, GranTurismo, Forza Motorsports & Horizons, Mario Kart / Sonic All-Stars, and of course indie games (BeamNG Drive, Absolute Drift, Automatio, etc), just to name a few. How do we capture content? This is entirely up to the user and no one program is specified for the purposes of consistency. Software is open as far as I’m concerned, but I’ll leave you with this: Use whatever you like, but use it often and learn the absolute snot out of it. Examples: FRAPS, DXTory, Bandicam, OBS, XSplit, NVidia ShadowPlay, AMD Raptr, Steam (or any third-party) screenshots, etc. Where to host images & videos? Again, there are no restrictions as to where you can host your content, so long as the media adheres to the guidelines of the respective host and breaks none of the rules set by the developers; it is the responsibility of the user to make sure that these requests are met. >> Preferred video hosts: YouTube, DailyMotion, Twitch >> Preferred image hosts: imgr, PhotoBucket, Kinja, FaceBook, direct-attach (personal websites to be approved on a case-by-case basis) As for editing software, the easiest (relatively speaking) suites, in no particular order, are Sony Vegas, Adobe Premiere, Lightworks (FREE!!) and Apple iMovie if you're in that camp. Export settings are entirely up to the user, preferrably one of the following: 720p30, 720p60, 1080p30, 1080p60, 1440p30, 4K. Community Spotlight - JonZMovies Driving tips & set-up help? This of course varies from game to game, and car to car, so if you have any questions feel free to post below with your car, current set-up, and whatever track(s) you’re having issues with. Alternatively you can seek help at the respective community forums for that specific game. As for driving tips and how to go faster / decrease lap times, I have listed a very useful resource whose tips also apply to real-life driving. That being said, you won’t learn anything unless you get out there (read: in game) and practice yourself, so find some time and invest in your skills! >>> http://safeisfast.com/ Driving etiquette in online multi-player? While not a full-on non-contact simulation level community, I am going to state a zero-tolerance policy for rammers and people who enter our lobbies with the intention of trolling. Bottom line: racing clean is ideal, but a bit of bumping and drafting every now and then keeps things interesting. Set-up tours? I want to play Assetto Corsa and other Sim Racers at a high Frame rate of about 50 or so with Triple 1440p monitors, but Im not sure if 2 970s can do it. If not, will they handle triple 1080p monitors? Thanks for any help.

So I'm in the midst of building my PC and I've been rather concerned on the choice of Resolution for a Monitor. I want to go 1440p but I also want to use my monitor for my PS4 as well and I've heard the resolution can show up blurry due to 1080 not being Native. I've been looking at the ASUS PB258Q for a 1440p monitor and the ASUS VN248Q-P for a 1080p Monitor. Price really isnt the issue but rather accessibility. I want my PS4 to look clear as well as my PC Gaming, but I dont want to harm one tremendously just so the other benefits. Specs of PC Mobo: MSI Z170A Krait Gaming CPU: Intel i5 6600K GPU: Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming PSU: EVGA 750W Gold RAM: 8GB 2x4GB Corsair 3000 DDR4 Memory Cooler: Cooler Master 212 EVO Storage: 120GB Sandisk Ultra II SSD, WD Blue 1TB Case: Corsair Vengeance C70 In the future, I plan on running SLI 970s or maybe even jumping up to the 980Ti G1 Gaming. I want to run triple monitor for Sim Racing and Single Monitor for the rest of my games. Id really love to have the crisp 1440p displays but at the same time, I dont want my PS4 which I play as well to suffer horribly. Will my PS4 suffer noticably with Resolution? Is it worth going with 1440p for my PC? And on an off note, will I be able to atleast get about 50FPS with SLI 970s on 1440 Triple Monitor for games like Assetto Corsa and Project CARS? Thanks for anyones help. Its deeply appreciated. If you have any tips please give them. I really want a good experiance for PC gaming but being a Console Lover Im not willing to give up an enjoyable experiance on that either.

Trying to get an idea for how many of you out there on the LTT forums enjoy racing and would be interested in an LTT based racing league or group? No seasons, no points, just for fun competition. Would "meet up" once a week or so at a regular time to do a race or races. While it will be just for fun, some rules will apply and be enforced (no deliberate contact, no ramming etc.) common track/racing edicate. The time would be when it (hopefully) works best for the majority. So, cast your vote(s) and let me know if this might be a viable thing to pursue. My preference is Project Cars just because of the simplicity and ease in setting up MP races as well as a good selection of cars & tracks. Would prefer if you use a wheel and pedals for control. Unless you're REALLY good with a game pad controller. To be clear; those with game pad controllers are welcome to join, just keep in mind; there will most likely be no assists (no ABS, traction or stability control). Other details like track, vehicle, weather, length of practice/qualifying/race etc. can all be determined later, once I know there is some significant interest. Thanks, MEC. **EDIT** Please, if you are interested and cast a "yes" vote, please post a reply so I can see who you are and get in contact. Thanks!

Now that Pcars is out, who has it and what do you think of it? How does it compare to Assetto Corsa in terms of; graphics, physics, sounds, car models, AI, Multiplayer etc.? Also, how well does it run on PC? I have Assetto and it's freakin awesome in almost every aspect except for a few areas (poor AI, no weather, limited car selection). Have been doing some research on Pcars to see if it's worth my $, but I'm a bit weary of what I've seen/heard so far. Sounds silly but one odd issue I don't like is the engine sound while shifting. Maybe they've fixed it by now, but I watched one in-game video of the Mclaren P1 and when they shift gears, it's like the audio track for the engine is cut and jumps to another track (different rpm) which is not what it should sound like. Sounds very unrealistic to me. Again, I know that sounds like a stupid thing to complain about, but I'm all about the immersion/authenticity and something like this totally breaks the immersion, IMO. So, anyways, what are your thoughts?

Hi there, I recently got myself a new triple monitor setup, using 3x ASUS VN247H-P hooked up on the Ergotech Triple Monitor Stand. I figured i'd show a POV video to those interested! I've been getting this setup mostly for simRacing, and I can't believe how great this feels. To be honnest, I wasnt expecting my GTX 660ti to do particularly well in surround mode, but I can maintain over 100fps in iRacing with most details on high! Assetto Corsa (see another video here for your reference) is more taxing, but overall, my GPU is still capable to output a very decent framerate with medium/high details. I couldnt be happier with my purchase, and will probably eventually upgrade my GPU, but fo far so good!

I've posted this review on a local PC forum here in New Zealand, so its a simple copy/past. Thanks Logitech G27 review So as you may or may not know, I’ve been after a racing wheel for Assetto Corsa primarily. Many fruitless weeks were spent looking on trademe for one at a reasonable price, but finally I took the plunge and brought one brand new from mighty ape for $319 NZD inc postage. Set up of the wheel/pedals/shifter is pretty straight forward. Everything connects to the underside of the wheel unit, and routes through some grooves in the base of the wheel. One thing I like about the pedal unit is the grip spikes that stop it from moving about on the carpet. The pedals themselves have really good resistance/feel to them which feels intuitive when in use. The wheel itself is absolutely fantastic, wrapped in leather; it feels great in the hands. There is a nice sense of weight when racing across different cars. The paddle shifters are just as nice to use and a real cool part of a racing wheel, quite a satisfying way to change gear. Makes you feel like a racing driver: D. The shifter I’ve only used once in a race, but again it feels solid to use. Using it in the BMW M3 was a good experience. One thing to note about this shifter is that to use reverse, you have to depress the shifter down before moving down and right to select reverse. In sequential shifting (i.e. paddle shift), this is not the case. Another interesting thing I found with this setup was when it came to braking. In real life, I right foot brake, as I drive a manual car. When I was driving the Pagani Zonda R, I found myself left foot braking some of the time, other laps I would be right foot braking as I normally would. But this is a muscle memory issue I will have to learn as I race more and more. Onto software, this is fairly straightforward but requires a little tinkering. After connecting it all, too my PC and powering on. I installed the Logitech gaming software. In here I created a profile for the game(Assetto Corsa), and adjusted settings according to what is recommended on the Assetto Corsa forums, which I might add, have a really helpful and friendly bunch of members willing to help you out with any issues you may have. Additionally, the have sections dedicated to the specific wheel combo you have which has been really useful for me to dial in the wheel. After setting up the Logitech software, there were some settings that I needed to change in-game to make the wheel usable, as in stock configuration the wheel is not nice to use, but this is to be expected. Steering input is direct, with no noticeable lag/delay as far as I can tell; same with shifting with the pedals/gear shifter. Using the paddles on the wheel is great as well. I have several photos of how I have mine set up at my desk, which reminds me, with the clamps on the wheel, there are some spacers attached if you are clamping it to a thinner desk/table. These can be removed as I did, if you have a desk which is slightly thicker, but this will be a non-issue for most as you have quite a bit of space to fit the clamps and then tighten them as necessary. Overall, I am massively impressed with this wheel/pedals/shifter and for the price that I paid; there is no competition for where your money should be spent. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask
