  1. EVGA or MSI GTX 1080 Ti?

Sup, building a new rig this winter and I'm debating on whether to get the EVGA FTW3 Gaming or MSI Gaming X Trio. Would love some thoughts or opinions. This is slightly off topic, but what's your opinion of the Asrock Taichi Z370 vs MSI Gaming M5? If I get the EVGA Card I'd go Asrock MB and I'd get the MSI MB if I get the MSI Card. Thanks
  2. I'm really hoping someone can help me. I'm pulling my hair out over this. I've done many things but can't seem to find a fix. (My apologies if this is in the wrong forum or I write too much, it's my first time posting here.) So, I recently made a mini-itx gaming build, and I purchased an ASRock Fatal1ty Gaming-itx/ac board. So, the first one I bought had audio pops and crackling. I use the green line out jack. It can happen immediately after it boots into Windows, 10-15 mins after, or sometimes not at all until I restart or turn it on the next day. (Which is why I thought I'd fixed it a few times.) After talking with ASRock support, they said it sounded like a hardware issue and to replace it. So I did an RMA through Newegg and the new board is doing the exact same thing. I have tried other speakers. Speakers using the line out jack always do the crackling. I tried my tv's soundbar with the optical digital and no problems. Disable that and re-enable the line out, it immediately starts up again. Now, if this helps, I put a cheap Gigabyte board in while the RMA was going on so I wouldn't be without a computer and with that board I had no sound problems whatsoever. (I no longer have the Gigabyte board). It's only with the ASRock boards in. I'm not sure if this could be a motherboard specific issue or not? Now doing further research, this appears to be a DPC Latency issue. I don't believe it to be a hardware issue as the same thing happened on two exact boards, but not on another brand? Here are the computers specs: ASRock Fatal1ty gaming-itx/ac Windows 10 64bit i7 7700k 16GB Gskill Ripjaw V ram ASUS Strix 980ti 850w Thermaltake PSU OS installed on Toshiba SSD Below are pics from two instances I ran of LatencyMon. (First ran Oct 17th and longer runtime on October 18th.) Here is a dropbox link to the results of running Windows Performance Analyzer: https://www.dropbox.com/s/4jib8p58zdb1y85/DESKTOP-8EL01F8.10-17-2017.20-17-27.etl?dl=0 I'll list everything I've done thus far: (These are not necessarily in the order they were done) Updated bios to P2.30 Downgraded to P2.20 Disabled Wifi in bios Disabled Wifi in Windows Disabled Speed Step and other speed options in bios Disabled other things in bios like PS2 to USB, internal gpu Uninstalled Intel Rapid Storage Technology Ran LatencyMon and WPA Uninstalled/Reinstalled Nvidia Drivers using DDU Disabled/enabled each item in device manager to try and isolate a particular device driver issue Removed and replaced each USB device plugged in (leaving only mouse or keyboard at any given time for input) Unistalled and reinstalled Realtek audio driver Uninstalled Realtek and just used default Windows audio driver Turned off audio enhancements in windows sound properties and disabled Creative Labs Sound Blaster Cinema 3 Tried multiple speakers via line out Made registry edits to supposedly decrease LAN latency, and to disable Nvidia PowerMizer (if that was needed) Set power option to High Performace, turned HDD Sleep off, Min. Processor State to 100%, Disabled USB Suspend Did a clean install on Windows 10 and installed no drivers other than Windows default installs (last thing I did) I think this is everything I did. I might be missing one or two things. I've been trying things for weeks. As it stands now, the bios is still on P2.20, all Windows default device drivers installed save for Realtek (none from ASRock site), audio enhancements off in Sound profile, power settings on Balanced profile set to defaults, GPU up to date Nvidia drivers, Wifi still disabled in bios. It seemed to be good for a day and a half, but it's happening again. Makes it such that playing games or listening to music/movies is a pain. I would be soooo grateful for any help. Thanks in advance.
  3. So I will be building my first desktop in like 10 years or so , Ive got most of it figured out but still need some help. One thing to mention is I am limited in my part picking since I will be buying it on leasing so all or at least most will have to be from a shop in my town that is the cheapest I could find in my country. The site is this one http://www.most-sz.com/ the components are on the right side and the currency is in Bulgarian Lev (BGN) - 1 USD = 1.68 BGN . The PC will mostly be used for watching stuff on it on my TV ( not a great one but might be changing it soon for a better one) and main stream games like Dota 2 and some MMORPGs . I want it to more then I need so even if I decide to play something new I can with nice graphics(not exellent but nice) So here is what I decided so far: 1.I would like a 8th gen Intel build 2.Has to look good 3.Not get a heart attack when I see the final price ( especially when it will be more after the interest rate ) Here is what Im still wondering about : 1. Should I get a video card from the get go or use the integrated one in the CPU at first to save up some money on the loan and get one when I save up some cash or just to get a 1050 or 1060 one from the start. 2.Which CPU to go with - I am down to 2 the i3 8350k or the i5 8400 , watched a lot of videos comparing the 2 but still cant decide 3.Which mother board to choose from - I am down to 3 - the Z370 AORUS Ultra Gaming by Gigabyte , Z370 GAMING M5 by MSI and the Fatal1ty Z370 Gaming K6 by asrock , so far leaning towards the Asrock mostly after it the Gigabyte and last the MSI , but since I dont know much Im up for advice on those 3 or any other around that price range from that site. 4.What Ram speed to get , CPU says 2400Mhz(i3 8350k) or 2666Mhz(i5 8400) so can I get only 2400Mhz or 2666Mhz ones depending on CPU? 5. Ram I will probably purchase from somewhere else since that store doesnt have much to choose from . Here is a list of parts Ive picked and how I imagine it but maybe without a video card , diffrent mobo and diffrent CPU depending on the advice and opinions I get from here. 4. I'm sure I'm worrying about nothing, but I'd like to confirm with some techies who know more about this than I do: In PCPartPicker, I selected the following: ASRock Z170M Pro4S 2TB WD Blue 500GB Samsung 850 EVO Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB-3000Mhz It said they were all compatible, but for some reason, I couldn't find the board on ASRock's website to confirm, so can someone tell me if those parts are compatible? Thanks, Matteo
  5. Hello, Due to my prior budget, I purchased an ASRock Z170M Pro4S motherboard to be paired with a 6600K. However, recently I have decided to upgrade to a 7700K, but I don't have enough money to buy another board. I know that the Z170M Pro4S supports the 7700K, but does it support the processor out of the box? If the motherboard does not support the processor out of the box, how can I update the BIOS? This is my first PC that I'm building, so I don't have any extra CPUs lying around to put in the system. Therefore, I can't put a different CPU and download a BIOS update from ASRock's website. However, I do have my laptop, so I can download a BIOS update from there. How do I update the BIOS without having a chip or OS inside the PC? Thank you, Matteo
  6. To summarize this, I am going to get: 3 GTX Geforce 690's 2 GTX Geforce 1050 ti low profile cards 3 thunderbolt 3 PCI-E cards 1 server 10gbe sfp+ PCI-E card 9 cards total, and only one PCI-E x16 slot. and one of the XEON CPU's that I looked up has 40 lanes (either that or it was a typo on the seller's part or Intel's part.) Why? Because I am going to run 5 operating systems on one machine.
  7. Hey fellow nerds, My mobo has been acting funny lately, USB ports turning off being the most prominent and strange thing, but now it refuses to boot and gives me a set of unfamiliar error codes. They are: d3 b3 Rd 03 (o3?) 80 14 anyone got any ideas? Thanks in advance frandz
  8. Need Help

hello everyone, I recently bought a combo to replace my 8 year old pc. The specs are: Mobo- Asrock H61m-vs R2.0 CPU- i3 2100 RAM- Transcend 4gb ddr3 I had windows 10 on my hard drive so I didn't need to reinstall it because it was not an OEM mobo. Everything was working fine except the audio drivers. It only shows the Nvidia HDMI output from my graphics card and by device manager it says the normal driver is there (see pics) I checked on those driver programs and they say that the driver is unplugged I tried installing realtek but that also didn't work Please Help
  9. So I've had a recurring problem lately and I need help just finding out what's going on, I'm in the dark here (it's my first build so zero xp) Basically, my pc sometimes won't display a signal on my monitor (it's really inconsistent). The first time I did it, I panicked and searched Google for a solution and what I got them was that someone just happened to unplug something from a usb port and it seemed to work, doesn't seem like an actual thing but I did and and hey-presto it worked. Happened again another time, this time I didn't have anything plugged in apart from the basics (mouse, keyboard), so I did the good old turn off/turn on trick and after a couple of goes voilà, it worked. Now, it happened again and no amount of off/on fuckery managed to work, I searched Google again and saw that some people said it could be an issue with the GPU, to unplug it, remove it, clean it, etc. and put it back in. I opted to be lazy and leave the drastic 'unplug everything' plan for my last resort. I got to the point where I had to unplug the PSU from the graphics card and plus that back it. This worked. And after all this, I still don't get what the problem is, why it's so inconsistent or when/if it'll happen again. So, for my own peace of mind/sanity, could anyone hazard a guess to what the fuck is going on? (Just for clarity, my part list: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/user/lggibbo/saved/BnwhMp)
  10. So I am interested in buying the asrock fatal1ty z370 k6 and noticed that it appeared that there were spots for wifi antennas in the rear io. Does anyone know if there is a secret m.2 wifi slot somewhere, or what those things are doing there
  11. PC Doesn't Start at all.

Hi, this is my first time on the forum! This isn't just that the computer doesn't post, it doesn't boot at all, i took my PC apart to see what parts are in it and then put it back together to see how. After many hours of struggle and lots of google searches, i had put the PC back together but when i clicked the on button on the motherboard it powered on but didn't post and my AS-ROCK 970 extreme 4 motherboard displayed the error code "00". I googled it and fixed the problem ( I hadn't plugged the power connector back in to the CPU). I then powered it on again and it displayed the error code 5. I powered off the machine but then powered it on again as i had forgotten the error code (I have no idea how!) and the PC didn't boot at all, no error code, no nothing, it was as if i had unplugged the power cable or turned it off at the outlets. Please help me as i don't have the money to go to a shop. My (crappy) specs are: Nvidia geforce 8400 GS Amd fx 6300 Asrock 970 extreme 4 16gb of ram (I don't know any more without the computer being on) Thanks for any help you can give!
  12. Hello! In the near future( BF or a normal day) I want to buy a "Minecraft Machine". I will play Only Minecraft, The Escapist, etc. Eventually i will make excels And other things like this. I wish a compact PC, miniItx, in a tiny case. I saw the review of Asrock Deskmini, gtx edition, but this is not an option because the budget. Actually, the DeskMini 110 sounds good. I want to pair it with a 7400/7500 And 8/16 Giga of RAM, dual channel. 7400 or 7500? I see they have to diferent igpu-s. Which is better? For Minecraft it's OK the integrated graphics? It's good the integrated graphics on 7400 for MC? Thank you!
  13. Hey Guys I was hoping for some help. Last night my pc switched itself off and attempted to restart unsuccessfully. I tried rebooting and was met with and endless windows 10 logo, after a few more attempts that turned into a blue screen of death. I was getting an error code 0xc00000f, I tried a few fixes but no luck. anyway I decided i would just reinstall windows from scratch as its something Ive meant to do for ages anyway. I removed my boot ssd and put it in another pc to remove files like my witcher saves n such. I then placed it back in my main pc ready to install windows 10 but now, I cant even get into the bios. My mobo is an asrock extreme 6 with a 4790k installed, I have powered down the PC numerous times and used the clear cmos button on the back of the mobo but I keep getting the debug code "A6" whether or not I have any drives connected. I get no output to my monitor so its impossible to get into the bios. ANy ideas? Thanks in advance
  14. X370 VRMs

I watched a recent Gamer's Nexus video that mentioned that B350 motherboards' VRMs tend to get quite toasty when the CPU is overclocked. I run an Asrock Taichi X370 board and the CPU is cooled with an AIO, meaning the cooling the VRMs are getting is primarily from case fans (and I suppose the fans on the AIO which mounted up top in a push configuration). I have run the box at 3.8 GHz as a test without issue, with memory at 3200. My questions then are: 1) Are X370 chipset boards known to have VRMs that get significantly hotter under OC? 2) What are your opinions on the Asrock Taichi X370 VRMs (if you have any)? 3) Is there a particular thermistor/sensor value that I can be monitoring in Asrock's tuning software or some other program while I have the box under OC via Ryzen Master (prelude to BIOS OC) to verify that I'm not about to overheat the VRMs?
  15. ASRock ab350 pro4 - 185 BGN MSI B350 Tomahawk Arctic - 221 BGN or even MSI X370 Gaming Plus - 240 BGN. Which one is worth it the most and why(bios support, stability, vrms etc) ? Are the 55extra really worth when comparing the ab350 vs x370(19 extra from msi b350 for sure are) ? Even though x370 is better for overclocking and future proof probably,I don't plan on overclocking the r5 1600 for now. P.S. Here are few others I can choose from: Asus PRIME b350-plus - 198 BGN Gigabyte AB350 - gaming 3 - 221 BGN ASRock AB350 Gaming K4 Fatal1ty - 208 BGN (from what i found its basiclly red colored pro4)
  16. The Breadbox (~2.3L box of fun)

It has finally begun, the project involving a case that's only 2.3L in volume, whilst able to fit dual slot cards up to a length of 170mm. And after a year of planning... I've only managed to cut out the panels for the case itself (Dimensions are 17*14.7*9.5, Width*Depth*Height). Specs: CPU: i5-6600k Cooler: Silverstone AR04 (it's an adorable little heatsink) Motherboard: ASRock H110M-STX (chosen due to the PCIe x4 3.0 M.2 slot) RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws DDR4-2800 1x8GB (cheaper than any 2133 kits so why not?) Storage: Plextor M6s 128GB SSD + a Seagate Barracuda 2TB HDD that I found in a box (that'll be mounted somewhere outside the case) Graphics card: I don't know probably a Sapphire Pulse ITX RX 570 or (if applicable) an RX Vega Nano card PSU(s): A Delta 120W brick for the motherboard, and probably a HDPLEX 80W AC-DC unit combined with a 160W DC-DC with some circuitry to make it turn on at the same time as the motherboard's brick Other: A generic M.2 to PCIe x4 adapter, and a generic (though probably going to be switched to 3M) x4 to x16 powered riser. Warning: Really shitty hardware photos. Case plan dimension things (courtesy of @Ryan_Vickers): Current progress: Calculation for internal volume is 17*9.5*(14.7-3) + (9.5 - 2*3)*17*3 + (pi*(3^2)/2)*17 = 2308.3818383 (2.3L) Some people wanted to see this (I think): @Daring @Bananasplit_00
  17. So today i turned on my PC and it booted nicely without any issue and when i turned on the WIFI icon to turn on the internet my display went black for a couple of seconds and it came back again. I was like meh, and i turned on my game Ryse son of Rome that i had already played several times. even that booted up nicely, went through all the loading screens and right at the moment i entered the game and saw the surroundings for like a second and the screen went full black and completely lost signal from PC. there were no game sounds too.i hit the restart button from the case and there on i get no signal to my monitor. i restarted several times like this and still nothing. the computer keeps working without giving any beeps or anything. i switched to my onboard gpu and switched on the computer and that works. it receives signal to monitor. so i took my gpu out, there was a bit of dust and i blew them out and plugged it back in and the screen stayed black for a couple of seconds and i received signal to my monitor. i went back and tried my game ryse son of rome, went through the loading screens once more stayed there for like 30 seconds (usually the game takes at least a minute to load in my PC)and it went black again by losing signal but this time it went during the loading screens. what could be the reason for this problem. the gpu wasnt hot either. my gpu is a gtx 660,mobo is a Asrock G41m - S3 and PSU is a EVGA 650W
  18. Source #1: http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/X299E-ITXac/index.asp Source #2: https://overclock3d.net/news/cpu_mainboard/asrock_announces_their_x299e-itx_ac_motherboard/1 Yes, you read the title correctly, ASRock - in their infinite abilities, has managed to out-do themselves on the already crazy X99E-ITX, and has somehow managed to get a full X299 socket onto the ITX platform. Of Course, some compromises have to be made, for example: 1) Rather than 2 full DDR4 DIMM slots, they have opted for SODIMM - on the upside, that now means Quad Channel Support 2) The M.2 slot now uses a vertical connection - similar to Asus' DIMM.2 (However, there are also another 2 M.2 on the back of the board) 3) The board DOES NOT support Kabylake-X CPUs (So no PCI-e 16 lane chips) The one thing I'm not too sure on is the Power Delivery - I think its mounted vertical - Which would make sense due to the already limited space on an ITX board, even without the huge X299 socket. As to how they plan on cooling the Power delivery, I have no idea - however, ASRock has announced that Bitspower has created a Monoblock for the CPU & VRM. No leaks on Price or Availability, as of yet. All I can say personally is - How? Like obviously it was possible as they have managed it, but my brain is going how have they managed it? The VRM itself will kick out a lot of heat and looking at it, it looks like it doesn't have any form of a heatsink on the thing. (I could be, and hope, I'm wrong) Given how X299s VRM has been a controversy - I will find this to be very interesting to see how ASRock will take care of it. Aesthetically, I think it looks gorgeous for an ITX board. Shame that I (and many others), will likely never own it. That's it for my opinion on the board, Please leave your's down below Edit: Thanks to The Benjamins - it is slated to hit retail at a price of around $400 (depending on the store) https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157786
  19. Need help with new Ryzen system

Ever since I built my new system system I've been having random audio glitches and stutters (the stutter is almost like a low pitched buzzer sound for just a second or two). I also have seemingly random bluescreens relating to critical processes dying among other things, these have been a little more recent although have happened in the past. Bluescreens seem to happen after a long night of use and then waking the computer up. The audio stutters happen about 3 or 4 times a day while gaming or watching YouTube content.. I don't know if this is common with Ryzen systems or not, but while on the desktop if I am to make a selection box it seems to stick for a few frames before disappearing. Also, has anyone heard of any of these issues happening when hardwired to a router? My old system started having issues somewhat similar but i don't see how a router could cause this, this does point to the PSU though.I've updated any and all drivers I can and my BIOS is version 3.00 (1.0.0.6a). I've tried lowering my overclock on both the RAM and CPU but it seems to have made no difference so I went ahead and put them back to what you see now. I've ran mem test and the appropriate CMD commands. Reseated graphics card and RAM, and unplugged/plugged everything back in.My thoughts as to what the issue is:Has to be either the motherboard or the PSU. I still have a warranty for both but would prefer not to send either in until I gather more information as this would mean I would be stuck without a computer for a week. Any and all help/advice would be greatly appreciated. 21. HELP! My mobo broke. It's a Gigabyte H170N-WIFI. All the USB ports are now dead. They supply power but they won't read my devices (mouse, KB, etc.). Try ko pa ayusin or ipadistro, but ready narin ako bumili ng bago Di rin ako makapasok ng BIOS kasi hindi nga nababasa yung keyboard hahaha ANYWAYSSSSSSS. I need help choosing a new MB. I have an i5-7500 and my current mobo options are (in descending price): MSI B250i Pro Gaming AC Gigabyte H270N-WIFI AsRock H270M-ITX/AC Gigabyte B250N Phoenix-WIFI I would choose the Gigabyte H270N-WiFi (seems like the easiest choice) but the other options offer more USB ports. (additional 2 legacy USB 2.0). I'm trying to google if there's a difference in performance between chipsets B250 and H270, at least for my use case. P.S. I've already tried clearing CMOS Those are the only 7th gen Intel mITX motherboards available here in our country SOLVED! Chose the Gigabyte B250N Phoenix-WiFi. It's the cheapest and has the most USB ports out of all of these. Also RGB yeay

Can you put the video in one of the "video slots" for example PCIE1 and the NIC in PCIE7 as shown above with both of them working at the same time ???? Can you put a video card in PCIE1 and an NVIDIA Tesla in PCIE5 if those slots are each allocated 16 lanes ???? In bios, you can set the individual speeds (#lanes ???) of the PCIE1 ... PCIE7 slots, but what restrictions are there ???? Is this typical of all the recent motherboards with SLI/Crossfire ???? please note if you are absolutely certain about your reply before I pay for the motherboard. my existing computer is 11 years old, and I can not afford to waste my money. MUCH THANKS regards
  25. This is the USB 3.0 version. Pros: $60-70 Price It works. No major performance or functionality issues at all. BIOS is easy to navigate and updating it via USB Flash is easy. After the update, you can control the motherboard with software. It overclocks fairly well (RAM up to 3000 MHz) with reasonable temperatures. Magnetized holes make mounting screws to it simple. Variety of ports: Ethernet, KB/M, and several USB 2 and 3 ports. Good build quality, for the most part. Cons: Only supports 2 case fans (you will need fan splitters for more) Only supports fan controlling for one chassis fan input No integrated wifi or bluetooth (factor that into the cost) Generic vanilla IO Shield (I don't even use it) Prior to update, literally any adjustment to the OC settings makes the system crash. Video card obscures a lot of necessary pins, making upgrades difficult. Overall, I think this is a good motherboard for people who are on a budget or want to spend their money on other parts. It's a fine board for performance builds. Of course, it only supports 2 RAM sticks, 4 SATA cables and 1 video card, but that's expected for Micro ATX and more than enough for many performance users. The software experience is good (once its updated at least). Is it worth the $60? Yes. None of the cons are significant enough to make me regret this purchase, though perhaps I would've paid a bit more for a board with more controllable fan inputs, wifi/bluetooth integrated and a better IO Shield.
