  1. gpu artifact? RX 480

Hi Guys need help. So right now I'm in a bit of panic. I just observed a artifact for a prolonged duration. Here's what happened: I was just playing warframe with chrome on the background. suddenly the whole thing just show artifact. I took a picture for reference below. After which i checked some tabs in my chrome such as youtube and facebook and saw that the artifact was also there (see attached files). I checked the temps after about 10 secs upon closing the game using MSI, and saw 77 deg celcius. I'm wondering if this can be fixed (like software problem) or is it a sign of a defective product? Can this be covered in the warranty? my system: I5-7500 XFX RX480 8gb black edition 1tb hdd 16 gb ram BTW i dunno if this would help, when watching some youtube vids a few days before this, I experienced short burst of artifact that also vanished momentarily (around 0.5 -1 sec artifact appearance). I would appreciate it if you could help or at least give some advice. Thanks!
  2. So this is kinda weird. I built my pc recently and when I tried to overclock everything was fine. Then i noticed i was not gaming at 144 hertz so I went to my display setting and the whole screen flickers like crazy for 2 seconds then if I scroll on chrome or just on my desktop drag something it goes crazy until I stop. My gpu is kinda old but I dont think its failing since it was not used much (i say about a year). Also my psu is good since i got it from my brother cause the one i had was completely modular and his was semi with higher watts. Besides those and my HDD everything else is new. My GPu dos not hit high temps also most it hits with max recommend overclock is 72 on load. Also I use afterburner for overclocking and i tried the AMD one but it was worse. Thank you for your time. Specs: GPU: Amd radeon hd 7850 (Asus) CPU: Pentium G4600 Motherboard: MSI Z270 SLi Plus Ram: 16Gb Ripjaw Jskill 1st monitor:Acer - GN246HL 24.0" 1920x1080 144Hz Monitor 2nd:Acer - B346CK 34.0" 3440x1440 60Hz Monitor PSU: Corsiar CX750M P.S I use both these monitors at once but the second one not at 4k but its not the problem cause i tried to unplug it and it still did artifact on my 1st monitor not it does not on my second monitor it only happend once. Also when I load into games on 60 hertz on the loading screen it will artifact. Thank you pls help me
  3. Problems with games

Hey there. I am having once again issues with my Gigabyte G1 Gaming 1070 (I guess). In games (and only in games) the picture sometimes gets bugged and bars appear (see screenshots). The weird thing is: ONLY in games. Also for example League of Legends, the bars disappear for a short time when I alt-tab and go back in the game. I ran furmark for 1-2 hours without any problems and a max temp. of 75°C. I ran 3DMark Firestrike stresstest, max. Temp also 75°C with no failures, so I guess overheating is not an issue. I am confused as I haven't found any similar problems, everyone who posted about issues or defective graphic cards had way worse issues with images, like this one here (http://extreme.pcgameshardware.de/fullsizeImage.php?i=624038) that has no recognizeable picture left. Also I can't always reproduce the bug, sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't. I did some research, apparently 1070s with micron memory might have issues, so I contacted Gigabyte if they can help me. They told me to use the driver from their homepage (384.76). I am using 388.13, so I don't know if this could solve the problem, feels weird to me to use a older driver (also: what's the best way to remove every single data of a driver?) I also made a reddit-post in pcmr and some people mentioned a dying graphic cards, but shouldn't those problems also appear when I run Firestrike or Furmark stresstests if the GPU is faulty? Would the easiest attempt for a solution be to send it back to the seller and get a new one? Or should I try and fix it on my own first? Do you guys have any suggestions I could do? Thanks for any suggestion/tip.
  4. I have a Gigabyte GTX 1070 G1 Gaming card. Since last summer I've been seeing sometimes random artifact/flickering on the bottom part of YouTube videos. This does not happen on all YouTube videos. I have seen some improvements with new driver but still, have the same problems. I have been using Chrome and Chromium with HTML5 and always lastest drivers.
  5. I'm having problems with artifacts on Windows 10 Desktop. Pics attached. Graphic Card: NVIDIA GTX 1080 Ti EVGA FE 1. No OC- Default Settings with 100% Fan speed. 2. No artifacts in games. 3. Artifacting only on Windows Desktop. 4. Artifacts can be seen on PrntScrn game screenshots but not actually there. 5. I also have a 1050Ti in the same system at stock, no problems when connected to that. Is this a problem with Windows or my graphic card?
  6. Strange GTX 1070 artifact when booting

Hello everyone. Let's start off with that I have a gtx 1070 connected to a 1440p 144hz g sync predator monitor over a display port to a display port connection and recently I have encountered a strange issue. What happens is that when I boot up the computer, from time to time, the screen throws up a strange artifact shown in the picture. However the computer boots perfectly fine. If I unplug and replug the same display port I get an image right away or sometimes after a few unplugs and replugs. If I connect it to another display port on the card I get an image immediately. And this issue is hard to replicate. Sometimes occurring after 30-40 restarts if I try to force it. When the issue is fixed I am able to use the connection without any issues. But it bothers me as it seems that something is mulfunctioning. Please help me, as I am completely baffled by this some-what harmless issue.
  7. Hi LTT dudes, So about two weeks ago, I purchased a custom build desktop from a guy that I trusted. The rig ran fine for the entire duration until two days ago, when it unexpectedly crashed while I was cruising around in The Crew. Immediately when it crashed, the screen seemed to show the default 'your PC has crashed' Windows 10 message, however I'm assuming that's the case because I couldn't actually see the message; what I noticed instantly was horrendous artifacting that continued even in the BIOS/bootup. After an auto restart, the artifacting is still there (It still is) and device manager showed error 43 and that the driver was disabled. The resolution of course, was also lowered automatically due to that. After Googling and trying out some of the solutions (draining power, clean reinstalling drivers) the problem isn't fixed. Upon doing some extensive research, I'm convinced that it's a defective card (which was what my builder thinks too) since it wouldn't make sense that a card would die after 2 weeks of running games way below its potential. I already have plans to head down to the distributor to get an exchange. Here are my specs: CPU : i5-6500 @ 3.2GHz GPU : ZOTAC Geforce GTX 1060 3GB Mobo : Gigabyte H110M-DS2 RAM : G.Skill DDR4 8GB Single Storage : OCZ TR150 240GB SSD PSU : FSP HEXA+ 550 OS : Windows 10 Home 64bit I can put up screenshots of artifacting/other stuff if needed. If anything, what I'm trying to find out here is whether the GPU is dead or not.
  8. Hi Everybody, I really need your help. We build a friends computer a couple of months ago and everything worked fine until now. Biggest problems are Internet stops working all the time, wi-fi as well as lan, even though it shows up being fine. You can tell, because Internet sites don't load correctly or at all and downloads stop immediatly. Also when watching videos through Chrome, Firefox or Internet Explorer artifacts show up in form of blanking half the video, or a variety of colours. The computer also crashes randomly when opening different programs such as Internet Explorer, Premiere, or Chrome Installation Exe. Specs: Windows 10 Pro 64-bit i7 6700k Z170-A Asus Mainboard Ballistix Sport LT 16GB (8GBx2) 2400MHz 128 GB Samsung SM951 PCIE SSD 2TB WD Green HDD AMD R9 280X 500W PSU CX500M Corsair All drivers are up to date, we reinstalled Windows 10 twice, the first time even more problems showed up, then we put a fresh copy of Windows 10 on the PC, the problems I described are still showing up. We tried removing the graphics card and nothing changed. None of the hardware is overclocked. We used a variety of different monitors too. I'm hoping for helpful answers. Greets Dave
  9. I was wondering if i was just unlucky.. because i've always oce'd my cpu, and now i'm really skeptical about GPU overclock since i lost 2. The thing is, i never overclocked them too far (GTX560Ti / GTX 670) it was about 100mhz on core, without touching the voltage, and that was about it, nothing else. They all died the same way; artifacts.
  10. Hey all, Basically i just picked up a GTX1080 Strix from ASUS and it seems that I am having artifact issues with the card. On one monitor which is a 144hz Asus monitor connected via DVI is having random artifacts pop up when on the desktop. This issue does not show up on my 2nd monitor that is 60hz and hooked up via HDMI. I am wondering if anyone has found a fix on this issue....I have seen multiple posts across the web with the same issue and it seems it has to do with either the overclocking of the card or the fact that I am using a 144hz monitor. I have my overclock turned off and the profile is set to the standard gaming profile that is shipped with the card. Any help would be much appreciated..
  11. New Rx 460 Artifact on Startup

Hello, so i upgraded my gpu to sapphire rx 460 4gb nitro OC. Everytime i start my pc, the screen will show a green color with a white strips. it look a little like in the picture below. But after that the PC work normal, i did some stress test for the GPU and it didnt show any issues. And also i start to play some games, like batman arkham asylum with max settings and it went perfect 60fps. Any idea? should i return this gpu for warranty? Thank you.
  12. I used to have a 270x (asus DCUII) but this one died so I RMA'd it. A few weeks later I got the same card back, "fixed". It was clearly backed and indeed after 2 months it died again in the same way. So I RMA'd it again with the request for a new one this time and they got me an 290x!! ( refurbished but hey, I am not complaining. ) But this one has issuus. It apears to be working fine untill it hits about 80C and is under 100%load. Than I get black blocks artifacts. But this only happens sometimes. Only in one furmark test, not in other ones and I got it in the water in GTA5. But on the other hand I played 1,5 hours of Witcher 3 without a problem. So the card is broken again I think (a bad refurbish ) but before I send it back and maby get a 270x again I'd like to know. Is it posably my PSU. It's a 600W Corsair CM ( I know not the best ). I also have a 8320FX CPU so that would be heavy for the PSU, but can that cause artifacts or sould I just RMA the 290x AGAIN.
  13. CSGO door mini artifact

Helpi had this problem after i installed csgo, i just bought this game and played on dust 2 then i saw this weird thing. It does not do any harm it just fck^g annoys me its on every door and some posts it just annoying. It also happens on other maps. I currently play on my 4590's hd 4600 at 60-120 fps high, low res, overclocked (i just got this pc, still waiting for a good gpu deal from green or red). I tried removing overclock it did not fix it. I reinstalled the game like 2 times did not fix it also. Do you guys have any recommendation on how to fix it?
  14. 144 Hz Artifacts With Display Port

I have an Asus VG248QE monitor. I have been running it with a display port cable for over a year now, and somehow I didn't notice that it was running at 120 Hz instead of 144 Hz all this time (I guess when I first got it I was using Dual Link DVI and never checked the settings again). Anyway, I switched it to 144 Hz, which I had to do with the Asus GPU Tweak software since only 120 Hz showed up in the drop down in both Windows 7 display settings and the Nvidia Control Panel. I noticed that my monitor was showing what I would describe as artifacting, particularly in the top right corner, but also sometimes in the rest of the screen. It looked like short, white, horizontal lines about 1 pixel tall and maybe 5 pixels long flickering. I tried switching to another display port cable (the same exact type) with no success. When I switched to a Dual Link DVI cable, it went away, and I was able to select several other options for the display refresh rate besides 144 Hz. My only thought is that I purchased low quality display port cables. They were literally the only ones I could find on Newegg when I bought the monitor. They are Coboc brand HBR2 cables (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812423014). Does anyone else have any thoughts on what this could be? I'd prefer to use display port to DVI just because it's easier to handle, and it doesn't require a separate audio cable. I could always buy new display port cables, but I'd rather not spend the money if they're not the issue since I already have two of them. Specs: CPU: i7 3770K @ 4.2 GHz (overclocked) GPU: Asus Direct CUII GTX 760 @ 1006 MHz w/1072 MHz boost clock (default clock settings) Monitor: Asus VG248QE OS: Windows 7 Let me know if I need to add any more info. Thanks!
  15. Weird screen artifact, help?

[IMAGE LINK]: So this just happens 5 minutes ago, I boot up my computer and this really weird artifact on the screen goes on, first time I see it. I reboot the computer and the issue seems to have vanished. I'm extremely curious, is this a GPU failure or some kind of monitor/cable breakage? I want to know your opinions on this please, I will update if this continues to happen...
  16. Artifact Issue on Desktop

Here is a picture of what my monitor looks like when the issue occurs: I have had this issue three times over the last two times. Every time it happened while chrome was open. I already updated my gpu drivers and turned off gpu acceleration in chrome. I have been playing lots of the witcher 2 and did not have this issue while in game, so it does not seem to be due to high temps. Suspected culprits: -Main monitor, the ASUS VG248qe which is known to have problems (My first one was bad and had half the panel in white and black horizontal lines, I rma'd it) -GPU, a Sapphire r9 280x toxic (No overclock, first one also rma'd, this is my second)-Windows 10 What it is not:-Displayport cable (Also happens over HDMI) Here is what I know so far:-Restarting fixes the issue for a while, the issue does not occur in the bios or when selecting an os (I have dual boot)-It has not happened in any program other than chrome, even while playing game and being 70C. -Switching the monitor to hdmi when the issue occurs (It is normally displayport), the issue still occurs, but switching it back to display port seems to fix the issue, but I have only tried this once-The menus on the monitor look normal when the issue occurs. -If I capture the screen when the issue occurs with open broadcastor, the screen looks normal. What I plan to try next:-When the issue occurs, plug it in via hdmi to my xbox and see if the issue still occurs PLEASE HELP, any thoughts you have please leave them below. My monitor and gpu should still be under warranty, I just have to know which it is. 17. Artifacts help please!

I'm getting some heavy artifacts in Fallout 4 lately. The large spikes that dance wildly and a very odd flickering rectangle of pixels that are never in the same place on the monitor. The pixels don't seem to flicker with random colors though, they are nearly invisible. I have a video of each odd occurrence but the files are 36 MB each unfortunately. The video shows the artifact and my gpu temp right next to it, constantly below 70C. Windows 10 internal memory diagnostic reported no errors, I just placed new thermal paste on the gpu and the OC on the gpu is stable after long testing in Valley. I'm out of ideas and not sure how to diagnose the problem. Anyone able to help? Please? My rig: 64-bit Windows 10 Asus p8z77-v lk motherboard i7-3770k not OC'd 16 GB DDR3 Ripjaws X AMD HD 7970 gpu OC 1125/1575 @ 1.17V 64 GB Kingston SSD (OS only) 1TB Harddrive for storage Corsair RM750 psu
  18. Before you watch the video, some information you should know: Specs: 4790K, GA-Z97X-UD3H, 980 Ti Strix SLI, RM850 I have ran 3D mark 5 times. The first 3 times, the white artifacting occurs on the same graphic test (second one), the last 2 tries had no problems. Both 980 Ti Strix have high level of coil whine issue. Running the 980 Ti's individually, no artifacting occurs in 3D Mark No driver update or any software change inbetween the runs. I actually hope it's the RM850 causing trouble. I'm trying to find reasons to refund it and get the EVGA G2 instead. Which may even hopefully fix the coil whine (Although that's another issue on another thread).
  19. So I just built a computer and its working great, it boots so fast my monitor usually takes longer to start up.(task manager says 4.6seconds for last bios) Anyways, today I watched it boot for the first time and I noticed that when the windows splash screen goes by I see white jagged lines flash on the screen. Seems to be fine after that, but I also couldn't find anything on google because everyone who was complaining had other problems also. No overclocks, and ram is in XMP mode at 2400mhz. My drivers are up-to-date as of last week. Should I be worried? Build: 4690k Asrock Z97-e Gskill trident X 8gbx2 MSI R9 295x2 Samsung 850evo 500gb 1000W EVGA G2
  20. So, as the title says, I've been experiencing this weird artifacting on my Note 10.1 (original) for a few days or so now. I think I've only seen it in Chrome. It's random m in its appearance and makes whatever you're doing completely impossible to continue working on. It's not just the artifacting that's shown in the screenshot, but also one that blurs and flashes text as I zoom on a webpage. It does its thing either way, but zooming makes it worse.
  21. Artifacts in Windows

Hi Recently I've noticed some random artifacts appearing on my screen. They resemble squares and rectangles in black or white colors, also sometimes they look like they were cut in half diagonally. They appear in the bottom right corner and also on the left side of the screen, usually flickering. They only show after a few hours of light use (watching youtube, twitch, facebook, browsing etc.), and only in desktop and the start menu("metro"), not in games or benchmark programs (tested with Valley). Also after resarting Windows, they go away for a while. The issue is present with both 14.12 and 15.6 beta drivers. I've checked my temps, I see 40-45C on both the GPU and the CPU in idle when artifacts appear. My specs: FX8350 (stock) M5A99FX PRO R2.0 8GB 1866Mhz RAM MSI R9 280X (stock) CX750 Hyper 212 EVO Windows 8.1 Could you tell me what can cause the problems, and a possible solution? Thank you
  22. 290X Lightning Post Screen Artifcats

So I posted the other day about having some issues with my new 290X Lightning, but after some investigating I found that the PCIE slot I was using was only a 4 width instead of x 16. So I switched it to the other, deleted then re-installed the drivers, and all the issues disappeared, except one, this bios post screen. If I key into the bios, everything shows up normal. It also has been able to make it through all the benchmarks and games I've thrown at it since, with them all appropriately reporting that my CPU is chugging them to death? The only reason I care is I already initiated the RMA and now the retailer is sold out, so it completely kills my build if I have to return it without getting a replacement. My MOBO is a 970a-UD3, which has some voltage issues apparently. I would LOVE to switch it into somebody else's machine to see what the results are, but all my friends are console droids and one shop quoted me at $50, just to plug it in! So the 5 million dollar question is, should I return this and go back to my 7770 or could this weird issue just be the result of MOBO/Windows funkiness? I GREATLY appreciate anyone who is able to take a moment a depart wisdom on this very conflicted soul
  23. Hello, I have a ATI 6550 laptop video card. I know its not good, but I want to use it to play since I'm broke. This is what happens when I play PayDay.... (see attatched pics) How can I fix it? Thanks
  24. Artifacts and Game crashing

So I had this problem before, the story is: I got a new motherboard (Asus M5A97 LE R2.0) as I could fit more stuff into it and my old one was tiny. I backed up everything, swapped mobos and reinstalled windows before putting all my stuff back on as well as a USB 3.0 PCI Hub with 5xUSB3.0 slots. Things were going well until I started getting this thing where everything would crash (games etc.) when doing intensive stuff. Graphics would glitch (such as names of games on steam disappearing, green and pink versions of the text appearing) and programs would crash such as Razer Comms and Google Chrome. I bought a more powerful PSU (went up from 400W to 600W) but still no fix. I tried changing out RAM with some spare I had (went up from 1x4GB to 3x2GB) and still no fix. I took my GPU out and put it back in as well as my CPU and took a USB Hub I have that passes through my keyboard out too (this had my mic a usb stick and printer connector in it). The problem seemed to stop then so I plugged in the hub and each thing connected to it one by one over a few days. I got a new GPU for xmas (XFX R9 290 Black Double Dissipation Edition) but I didn't have a powerful enough PSU so I ordered a 750W. I tried putting in my GPU before I knew this and then took it out when I found out. I put in my previous one and the problem began again. Since then I got my new PSU and stuck that and my new GPU in (I uninstalled the old driver each time moving the GPU). I then experienced constant blue screens so I installed drivers from the AMD website as well as chipset drivers. I next swapped the 3x2GB RAM for the 1x4GB and tried plugging in the PSU connections to the mobo. The BSOD problem has gone but now the artifact problem has reappeared and I have no idea what to do anymore. Any ideas? I'm desperate now
  25. GPU instability/artifacts

Hello, So I've been messing around with games and benchmarks, and I've noticed some issues, primarily with shadows. The appear to have jagged 'teeth'. The two images are from WarThunder and the Heaven benchmark. It appears no matter what settings are ticked. Following pics were at high and ultra settings. (Just so you know, these are two separate pictures) Another issue I found was while in GRID Autosport; my GPU appeared to have crashed, and my monitor went to sleep after saying "No Signal". The cable is on correctly. I haven't had any other issues with the system. I'll likely be returning my card anyways, I got unlucky and have some pretty loud coil-whine (regardless of V-sync). Any thoughts are appreciated. System- EVGA ACX 2.0 GTX 970 SC i7 4790k 8GB of ram Extreme4 Z97 from Asrock EVGA B1 PSU Note about the PSU- I don't think its an issue, but I have the GPU connected via the non-modular VGA cable and one of the modular VGA cables.
