im looking to get some fun, bassy sounding headphones that differ from my current headphones (Philips SHP 9500) that are closed back or maybe semi closed. id want them to be under £200 and something that i can just plug into my pc to listen to music. Ive had a look at the Beyerdynamics dt770 pro but they apparently sound pretty whacky. But i do like the look of the build, they seem like very solid headphones. Ive also had a look at the akg k371, which apparently sound really good but have questionable quality control and they look kinda cheap and tacky. Are there any other good options available? thanks.

Hello audiophiles, I am new to this forum. I am in need of a good pair of headphones to use for gaming. So far my research has led me to studio headphones instead of typical 'gaming' headsets. I am on a budget which is why I have selected the AKG K240. I am not dead set on this yet but from reviews it looks good. Also apparently open back headphones are better than closed for more of spacial awareness for footsteps and such. I read that to fully experience the true performance of the K240 an external AMP would be required but not necessary. I have no idea what to look for so if anyone could recommend a cheap one in the UK I would appreciate it. I searched headphone amp on amazon and was hit with either £30 portable ones, or ones worth hundreds. Idk what I'm suppose to use. Is this headset a good choice for primarily gaming and some YouTube? You guys can also give other recommendations, preferably around or below £50.

Sup! I'm looking for headphones within 3000 INR ($45 USD). I've selected these - Steelseries Sibera 200, Audio Technica ATH M20x, Sony MDR-XB450, AKG K518 (last option). I'm more leaning with Siberia 200 because it's super cheap and has good reviews on all the websites. Next one is M20x, I selected this because I know the greatness of how M50x performs and I've used this headphone for 3 days. Because of that I selected it's affordable variant, M20x. XB450, because there are some decent reviews that I found on some websites. My requirement; It doesn't matter if it's Over-the-Ear or On-the-Ear headphones. decent bass. neat quality. doesn't have to be gamery look (but I won't say no if it has the gamery look). decent lows and highs. Please help me select! Also, let me know if any one of you have Siberia 200 and tell me about it. Cya! PS: I'll be purchasing from these sites - Amazon.in, Flipkart.com, Snapdeal.com.

So...I was going to buy the K7xx, I joined the drop, and went a couple days happy with my decision, until I watched some reviews and stumbled across K712 reviews.... Supposedly it's the premium version of the K7xx, does everything the 7xx does, but better (ie the things it improves over the 701/702)... So I was intrigued, shopped around, and they were 500 at most places, 300 at amazon, hundred bucks more, but the build quality alone is worth it, as I heard from many people on forums and whatnot... Then I found them for $226 with free shipping, site looked too good to be true, had to be a scam, selling fake headphones or something, right? Well, the only negative reviews I could find about the site (on third party sites) was with customer service, everyone who got their products, was happy with them, sometimes orders would be cancelled unexpectedly, or take a while to ship out, but nothing out of the ordinary with an online retailer... So i pulled the trigger....on freaking Tuesday...well they shipped....from Hong Kong on tuesday night, and they arrived today (Thursday)....again, free shipping...and they're legit, far as I can tell, they sound amazing, they feel premium, they were in a new, sealed retail package, and have Made in Slovakia (EU) on both the box, and the headphones, and they feel it. So....this deal is legit, and it came out to less than the K7xx did (especially living in california, where I have to pay tax on massdrop). So, just putting this out there, if you are interested in the K7xx, you should check these out as you'll get them much faster, and possibly cheaper than the k7xx. https://www.eglobalcentral.com/akg-k712-pro-kopfhoerer.html I can attach pictures of the headphones if people want, maybe someone wants to inspect and tell me if they're knock offs... I admit, I'm still wary about the whole thing, just seems too good to be true.

AKG and Massdrop have done it again. AKG's new product, the K553 Pro Studio Headphone is being launched exclusively by Massdrop, at an incredible price. From the site: "AKG’s latest revision to the K550 line is a complementary product to the open-back K7XX. Delivering noise isolation and bassy goodness in a closed-back design that won’t leak sound, the AKG K553 Pro Studio Headphone aims to provide a high-end listening experience at an entry-level price." Posting this here in hopes The LTT Crew will check these out, seeing as Linus was a big fan of the K7XX. I myself will most likely participate in this Drop. https://www.massdrop.com/buy/akg-k553-pro-studio-headphone Thanks for listening!

My brothers birthday is coming up so I'd like to surprise him with something special. He mostly listens to Rap and DnB (which is the complete opposite from my musical preferences). He's currently using a pair of vmoda's and a PC as the source. Ideally, I'd like to keep the budget to less than $1300 CAD for the headphones and an AMP/DAC. The headphones should have a pronounced bass but shouldn't skimp on detail/clarity (something he's complained about with his current cans). No biased opinions please.

I'm considering buying the K7XX's which are currently selling on Massdrop. Would I be able to run them on my motherboards built in soundcard? It's a Maximus VIII Formula. Also, I've never really owned an expensive pair of headphones before and I wanted to know if the price hike is worth it on them? I've got a few friends who say it's not but I would like to see other peoples opinons. I'm currently using a pair of M-Audio BX5 D2'S for most of my audio needs, I am however moving to a place which wont let me crank up the volume too loud because of noise complains, thus my idea of buying a nice pair of headphones. Cheers.

Hello Guys, I am an enthusiast PC gamer. All I do is gaming and mostly competitive gaming, I have decided to go for AKG K712 PRO for gaming as i will be using it for FPS games and heard AKG K7 series are awesome for footstep hearing. So I've decided to go for them. Anyways moving on to the main question , what AMP and Dac shall i buy to use for gaming mainly for footsteps hearing and all. my budget is more or less 300$. I can pay a little higher if really needed. Please help me. Thanks Please note i dont have any sound card. Just the mobo Asus ix Code.

I decided to go ahead and upgrade my audio setup to bring it in line with my current daily driver, the AKG K7XX's. Just wanted to get some opinions on a good sound card / AMP combo for these cans. I was thinking either an O2 or Magni 2 for the AMP (though still open to suggestion for others), but the sound card is a bit more difficult to nail down. I have seen a lot of good stuff related to the ASUS Xonar sound cards which run between $30-$70 depending on which version I get. But then I've also been looking at ones like the ASUS Essence STX II and the HT Omega Claro II which are $165-$200. I'm still willing to pay this much for a sound card, but only if it is worth the more than 200% increase in price over something like the Xonar series. Im not a huge audiophile and just want a setup that will make my headset sound AMAZING in any setting (videos, music, games). Bells and whistles in terms of connections, audio channels, mixers, and the like are not a big concern for me. Just overall sound quality and accuracy, and surround sound for gaming. So, again.... Thoughts? Opinions? Suggestions? Thank you in advance.

Hello all, I bought a pair of AKG K7XX off Massdrop about 6 months ago. At the time I was playing Heroes of the Storm and Overwatch. I love and had zero issues with these headphones while playing these games and listening to music. I recently started playing PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUND, and this is where I started to notice some issues. Let it be known I am not an audiophile, I'm not great with A/V setups, and I don't have a great ear for sound quality. I just know what I experience while playing. Now, I know there are still some audio bugs/issues with this game, but when I'm watching streams of this game the streamers are still pretty good at figuring out which direction shots came from or where car engines/footsteps are. It might just be me and the fact that I've never played a game of this genre, but with my AKG K7XX headphones I get really confused as to where sounds are coming from very frequently. At one point in the first couple days of playing this game, I actually started to question whether i was wearing my headphones backwards because of how directionally off the sound seemed. I also frequently notice that environmental sounds (rain, wind, etc) do not have a consistent volume for me. I routinely think there is a car near to me when there isnt because the wind will randomly kick up or get louder for a second or two and makes it sound like an engine as compared to the normal sound of the environment. I tried downloading Razer Surround to see if that helped, but honestly it just muddied up the sound, made the inconsistency of the volume worse, and didnt seem to improve my experience much. I have tried plugging the headphones into both the front I/O connector on my case as well as directly into the back of the MoBo and both sound about the same to me. Despite these headphones being apparently difficult to drive, they are plenty loud with my PC volume at 30% even without the gain boost on the MoBo turned on. I have a Gigabyte G1 Gaming 7 MoBo, and currently no other hardware or software where my audio setup is concerned. Its just my AKG K7XX's and the onboard sound of my mobo. My price budget for improvements to the setup (if needed) is $300-$500, but im not above getting a $30 sound card if it will help and thats all I need. Questions: 1. Does it seem like I have an audio or audio quality issue, or is this just me being a noob (and possibly a nit-picky one) when it comes to audio and these types of games? 2. Within the realm of soundstage and directional awareness, would my setup noticeably benefit from the addition of a sound card and/or DAC/AMP combo? 3. If my setup would be improved with a sound card or dac/AMP, which one(s) would you recommend and why? 4. If you think that there is a significantly better option in terms of headphones for gaming that would NOT require any extra sound card or dac/amp in my current setup, what would it be? Thank you all very much in advance for taking the time to help me out!

I recently got my hands on a pair of AKG N40s and N60s and was disappointed at how tinny/lack of warmth they sounded compared to what I've been using previously: The Oppo PM-3s, HD598s and B&W P7s Is this just an AKG sound signature so to speak, or are my previous headphones biased towards the bass? I'm using 320kbps audio files with a Fiio Dac/Amp although this definitely isn't the reason for the huge difference in audio quality I perceive between the AKGs and the other headphones.

I recently broke my ATH-M40x (at the hinge) and was looking for a replacement i was wondering if the AKG K72 was a good replacement. (if there are better headphones, do tell) PS. All my headphones break around a year after i get them.
-
I'm giving up on blaming other things for breaking headphones, within 8 months i have broken two sets of senheiser CX3.00 and the AKG headphones that come with the S8 in exactly the same way. only one channel works unless you hold the cable in a certain way right at the 3.5mm headphone jack. Since i don't have the time to re-solder a new jack on them and senheiser's warranty service is laughable i need to buy another pair. What's the best yet cheapest set of senheiser or AKG earbuds i can get with a detachable cable? I want to stick with brands that i know. I've tried zip ties and glue to hold the AKG set just right but now it looks like a gave it 20 years worth of cancer... but it works at least........

Dear MLG community, I am looking for some good headphones preferably wireless, they need to go very loud and lots of high quality bass. A litte history first: I have the Jabra revo wired version, bought them the time being over beats because of their build quality. Thought they were uncomfortable after a long listening period, so I bought the Marshall Mode EQ, they hurt my ears and when they broke I bought the AKG N20U. The AKG’s hurt in the beginning but I got used to it after some time and the sound quality makes up for it. The AKG’s had an almost perfect sound for me (mids, highs an lows), but I like more volume. They broke down on me three times, so now I have some cheapo earbuds for the time being. Now I am looking for some really good headphones but I am a little confused and wondered if someone could help me with the following: I tried the Bose Quiet Conform 35, and the Sony H.ear on MDR-100ABN, but I was not satisfied about the volume and bass and thought the AKG’s were way better. Is this because of the noise canceling, wireless functionality or something else? Must say that the Bose is around €379, the Sony about €279 and the AKG at €109. How could the AKG sound so much better than the other ones when the price is way higher. Also I tried a cheapo feeling Sony headphone for around €110 which had lots more volume and bass than the Bose and other Sony but the build and sound quality was shit. Can someone please explain and send me in the right direction? Recommendations are also welcome. If I have to give up wireless, I would and noise cancelling is not needed because I play that loud I do not need it. Headphones with a lot of leaking sound is not an option because I sit in the bus and train allot Note! I listen to Frenchcore allot, it’s very bass heavy music with also some high pitch melodies and a fast tempo. I test headphones with the following songs: https://soundcloud.com/thedeadn/dead-n-da-vinci-lysergic-paranoia https://soundcloud.com/dr_peacock/b2-dr-peacock-nowhere-to-run https://soundcloud.com/frenchcoreworldwiderecordings/fant4stik-dr-peacock-bulldozer This is my first posted on the forum and would like some feedback on things I did wrong or something, like my English perhaps or things like not the right place for my topic.

I was looking at the Sennheiser HD 6xx and AKG K7xx, and as a gamer which of these would provide the better gaming experience? I mainly play competitive games like CS:GO, PUBG, and overwatch. So I believe that I would need positional awareness and a lighter bass to hear footsteps and to locate shots by sound. Which of these two headphones would work best for these types of games? thanks in advance for suggestions.

Hi, guys! My journey of looking for the best headphones for me may finally be close to an end, but I need your help beforehand. I ordered a DAC/AMP from a Polish ebay-like site yesterday (Fiio E10K + Fiio D3 for 60$ - I simply couldn't resist) and now I'm looking for a decent pair of headphones to accompany it. I've been holding back with my decision for months, because I realized, that I barely use headphones and I'm looking at studio-quality ones. But now I want to end this problem once and for all, especially when I found some very decent offers on that site (reliable ones, I should add - used, but in perfect condition). I can have: • Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro 32 Ohm with leather pads for <75$ (it's on an auction - at the moment it "costs" 40$, but the offer ends in two days and it will definitely rise in price, but I don't think that anyone will give more than 75-80$) • Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro 80 Ohm for 95$ • Audiotechnica ATH-M40X for 75$ • AKG K550 for 100$ (these are the only ones that I could test and all I can say is that I love them) Just to be clear - I probably won't be wearing these for very long sessions, I value comfort, I'll probably game with these more than listen to actual music (but of course, that'll happen too) and above all, I want them to sound the best for the price, like I want them to be an experience, not just listening (and I would say that AKG K550 has this kind of quality for me, so if the rest is better, then awesome). Huge thanks in advance! Thomas

Hey there, Before I resume with my question, here's my motherboard with its on-board audio: Asrock Z97M ANNIVERSARY MATX Motherboard Socket 1150 (Intel Z97, 4x DDR3, 4x SATA III) I won't be purchasing a DAC or sound card with these headphones by Massdrop, because many have told me that my motherboard should be good enough to provide everything the headphones have to offer, and a DAC/sound card would do nothing to actually improve the SOUND QUALITY of the headphones. My question is to the people who own these headphones, or have some sort of experience with them. Preferably even with and without a DAC/sound card to accompany it, so I know whether the headphones are worth the $200 (plus $25 to UK shipping), and whether I'm making the right decision by not purchasing a DAC/sound card along with these headphones. Thanks!

I was planning on upgrading my current "gaming" headset to one with better audio quality and possibly a ModMic. I have a budget of about 160 and I could stretch it to 175 if needed. I was currently thinking of getting an audio-technica ATH-AD700X with the ModMic 4.0 omni-direction w/ mute. Would there be any configuration that is better for roughly the same amount of money? Also, does the Sennheiser HD 598 SE offer enough of an improvement to justify the price increase? Thanks in advance for any help you can offer

Hi everyone, I'm on the lookout for a pair of headphones, so far only used closed-portable ones (like the Monopice 8323 and the like). Want something for home use mostly for music, some movies here and there, although nothing MichaelBay-esque (no explosions and such). Looking for something that has great soundstage, $300 tops. So far, I've seen that the AKGS and the Fidelio X2 both have good soundstage, but kind of mixed reviews about the Fidelios (v-shaped sound, grainy, shouty), although they don't need an amp. AKG soundstage may be somewhat "artificial" sounding acording to some reviews, and also require proper amplification. As for amp/dac, I've at my dissposal my sister's E10K and a friend GO450, I'm planning on buying whichever sounds the best. After reading the recommended gear post here and a few reviews on the internet, Im considering K701/702(the 702 doesn't seem to have those bumps on the headband anymore according to amazon) or Fidelio X2 as of now. HE 400i is $249 but they have small soundstage apparently. Don't know about the soundstage of the HD600. Not considering Massdrop editions. Do you know of other hps with good soundstage that I've missed? Any imput will be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi all, I have been trying to sort out my audio set ups recently and have noticed with my PC the audio seems to be getting worse over time. I am using the Sennheiser HD4.40BTs with the audio wire for on my PC and in both the front and rear ports for my motherboard the audio sounds very flat with very little base, trying to tune the audio through MSI's new Nahimic 2 Software through the Microsoft store just makes the audio sound flatter and muffled. So I decided to plug in the AKG headphones I got with my Samsung Galaxy Note 9 which sound amazing for me through my phone, they still sound flat even with tuning on the PC. I also have tried to use the Sennheiser headphones on bluetooth mode and it just sounds worse (as i expected). Can anyone advise on what sort of solution I can do in this situation? Please forgive bad terminology or anything like that I am not an expert in audio or anything I just want to listen to music with a nice strong bass and good mids and highs.
