It's hard to explain and so far it only happens when playing Tekken 7, it's basically lag, inputs seem delayed and it looks like it's running at 30 fps even though it's actually running at 60 fps, it's pretty much unplayable therfore... I tried a lot of things but so far nothing really seems to fix it. I kinda think it's caused by adaptive sync, but not sure. It's not visible in videos, weirdly, on the same monitor, but while playing the game just appears broken, i even reinstalled it but no change. Any ideas how to fix this?

Hi. I understand that FreeSync help fix screen tearing problems. But suppose a 60Hz monitor has high response time (e.g. 8 ms or even 20 ms, instead of low response time like 1ms or 4 ms) and you're playing games at 60 FPS. And you notice the games have ghosting/blurring/smearing problems. Now you enable FreeSync: Then, does FreeSync only fixes he problems of screen tearing and stuttering or does it also help remove ghosting, smearing, blurring problems caused by bad (high) response time? PS: I am not sure if this was the right thread to ask this question. Please let me know if I should have posted it in PC Gaming instead?

Hi all, I just ordered a 144hz monitor with "Freesync" (VESA's Adaptive Sync) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01BV1XBEI/ . So I've got a GTX 908 Ti, and don't expect VESA's Adaptive Sync to work over the 980ti's DP1.2 port. Does anyone have a GTX 10xx card, with DP 1.4? VESA is not being explicit in the public docs I've read, as to whether or not DP 1.4 compliance requires support of Adaptive Sync. It looks like it is in "DisplayPort Alt Mode" (see https://www.vesa.org/featured-articles/vesa-launches-full-compliance-test-spec-for-usb-type-c-devices-using-displayport-alt-mode/ ). Any hands-on/inside info would be great! Thanks Guys and Girls!

Hello after doing some research I am really cofused with adaptive sync technologys. I know g.sync and freesync and their benefits and suddenly I discover a new one thats called "adaptive sync" and read about it. My story is a bit like this: currently I have a gtx 1070 and I thought of getting a 144hz panel weather it is 1080p or 1440p doesn't matter now. But then I discoverd this new one and thought: What if I get a 1440p 144hz monitor with probably this adaptive sync or freesync (read that they are identical but not sure) and later this year get a Vega card that can drive this beast and even if not i could use the 144hz partially with my 1070 and this adaptive sync and still get a decent experience or ?

Hey guys I'm curious, are there any G-sync/Freesync compliant monitors on the market that have some kind of HDMI/Display-output? Cheers guys!

Hey Linus, I'm a big fan and have been watching your youtube exploits (hm, although you're not exploiting anyone) with enthusiasm. I haven't seen a 34" wide screen review for a while now, oh at least a year? Am I right? And I guess you're possibly waiting for something new and exciting to merit a new review but is there any chance you could do one for the Acer BX342CK? Soon? Ish?.... Please.....? I'm running an early 2008 MacPro with Bootcamp and a flashed GTX 770 by those lovely people at MacVidCards. I write music with Logic Pro X and Sibelius and use Adobe CS5.1 for photographic work, I also play GTA V for my sins although it is getting to be a dull game now, maybe as I am squinting on my 19" monitors to see my adversaries and end up dead on far too many occasions! I am probably going to keep one of my (2) BENQ FP91G's for displaying the mixing desk of Logic Pro X while using the 34" display for the main window, but if I game it will obviously just be on the main 34" display. I figure I won't be able to push the GTX770 much with my setup and I think that's as good as I can get on my present computer set up but it works well for Logic Pro X. Anyway, can you give me any advice on a monitor. The Acer BX342CK looks good but I am reluctant to buy without seeing at least one professional review. Thanks in advance

Hello, Im looking forwards to change the HMDI cable from my Alienware 240hz. After nvidia release the G-sync adaptivity i would like to know which is the best DP to receive the free-sync at 240hz according to some information i was able to dig it needs to be a Displayport 1.2a but I'm unable to find any on amazon. If someone could help me link some options, that would be great.

Source: https://www.techpowerup.com/254580/acer-unveils-predator-cg437kp-monitor-43-va-4k-144-hz-adaptive-sync-1000-nits I really am liking all these new 4K monitors coming out in these large sizes. I feel it makes 4K more useful and palpable. Though, the BFGD monitors are slightly too big and crazy expensive; the definition of overkill. Whereas, I feel this is slightly more reasonable @ 43-inches. I'm hoping within the next 2-3 years we will see reasonably priced video card solutions to power these monitors @ over 60 fps to make use of these higher refresh rates. It will be interesting to see what happens in the future, as it seems display tech is slightly ahead of the GPU power required to drive these displays.

I’ve done a lot of digging and I can not get an answer for this question: I want to know if I can run an external g-sync (or adaptive sync) monitor from my Asus ROG Zephyrus M over Thunderbolt 3. The only other display output is HDMI. I’ve heard some people say that it may depend on if the thunderbolt 3 port is connected directly to the dGPU or iGPU? Also, I can’t tell if it makes a difference that the built in display is a gsync panel... Basically I just want to know if it’s worth getting an adaptive sync monitor as a large secondary screen or if I should just settle for a static high refresh rate display. thanks!

So I want to get a new gaming monitor and my requirements are 1440p 144hz 27 inches or above, VA or IPS panel, ive got a gtx 1070. I saw this Samsung display Samsung LC32JG52 its a 1440p 144hz VA panel without adaptive sync for £350, but there is a Samsung LC32HG70 which is also 1440p 144hz VA but it has freesync 2 as well as HDR for an added £200 as it costs £550. So my question is whether it is worth the extra £200 for freesync and HDR, as im not sure with the announcement that adaptive sync will be compatible with 20 and 10 series cards on this monitor. I've never owned a 144hz display before so im not sure how bad the screen tearing will be as at 60hz ive always had v-sync on.

Hey so I geeked out when I heard Nvidia announced it would be supporting adaptive sync. I patiently waited for the driver and I installed it, but the option didn't appear in the Nvidia control panel. I know most monitors are not optimized but the option should still be there according to the tutorials I found. I run a gtx970 with an AOC G2460PF which is not officially supported but the G2590FX is and I assume the tech inside is very similar. Is there something I'm doing wrong? EDIT: the display is connected with DisplayPort PLSS help!

I wanted to enable "g-sync" (freesync) on my monitor, but when I go into the nvidia control panel I see no option to do it. I have my drivers updated to version 417.71, my monitor's adaptive sync is on, but I can't seem to find anything. All the websites showing you how to do it all have an option to set up g-sync in the display tag. My monitor isn't one of the verified twelve, but I'm still supposed to be able to enable it still. The websites (and I'm pretty sure nvidia) said so. What's happening? If anyone could help I'd appreciate it a lot.

Hey guys, I just got my very first gaming rig set up and am extremely happy with everything, except for one thing, which is driving me absolutely crazy. Searching online, it appears this problem is extremely common, although it seems to occur more often on curved VA panels. The thing that I am dealing with is brightness flickering whenever I play games with Freesync enabled. This is a huge let down for me, as one of the reasons I spent so much on my first gaming rig was to be able to take advantage of AMD's Freesync technology. I have been scouring the internet for the past few days trying every possible solution to this, but so far nothing has worked. These are the details of my rig: [GPU] RX 5700 XT [CPU] Ryzen 5 3600 [Motherboard] Asus TUF X570 Pro Wifi [RAM] Corsair RGB PRO 16gb 3200 [PSU] SeaSonic 650W FOCUS 80+ Gold [Storage] 1 TB Samsung 860 EVO SSD The monitor that I am using with this rig is an MSI Optix MAG241C. It is a curved VA panel. Some people have said this is a driver issue. Some people have said this is a monitor issue. Some people have said this is an issue with the way Freesync technology works in general, and cannot be fixed. I do have a high-quality VESA certified DisplayPort cable coming in the next few days which I'll try out, but unfortunately, I do not think that will work, as others I've spoken to with my exact monitor + issue have said that using a different DisplayPort cable didn't fix it. Here are all the things I have done to try and fix it: Messing with AMD Radeon settings Messing with different Freesync ranges using CRU, a software that overrides your monitor's Freesync range (read and tried everything on this link... maybe I was doing it incorrectly? https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/agcj4a/how_to_eliminate_flickering_on_gsyncfreesync/) Changing the ports that the cables are connected to, in both the monitor and the GPU Changing from an HDMI cable to a DisplayPort cable I'm at the end of my wits at this point... if someone can help me fix this issue, I will literally PayPal you $20. I'm not kidding.

I think all of you know about the new news about nvidia supporting non g sync monitors that they say met their standards, one of those is this AOC AGON 241Q64, now im not sure if they are talking about the AOC AGON 241QX or some other monitor i cant find. Halp!

So I got the Acer XZ350CU and I expected it to be 144 hz, but it was 200 hz and I expected it to be free sync but it was adaptive sync. I don't really know much about monitors but is that the same thing? If not, what brand of graphics card do I need to use it and how? Thanks!

I recently got an Acer XZ350CU (https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009847) and I barely saw a difference in game with 200 hz and I was usually hitting about 120-150 fps with a gtx 1050 ti. I was thinking of upgrading to an amd rx 580 for the freesync. However, It says it has adaptive sync and 144 hz but on the monitor settings, I cant find anyhting about adaptive sync or free sync. Also, on the website, it says it has 144 hz but the monitor says it has 200 hz so does anyone know why that's happening? Is freesync even worth upgrading to or have a bigger impact than a high refresh rate? Also is adaptive sync the same thing as free sync?

I just got a new Aorus F127Q, it’s GSYNC Compatible and it still flickers even though the framerate is in the adaptive sync range. Could this be a problem with my unit specifically and should I replace it or is there anything I can do to fix it? Despite the flickering issue I really like the monitor and prefer it over alternatives like the 27GL850.

Been trying to find a substitute to freesync ever since those fucking miners took all the amd gpu's. You know how in the nvidia control panel you have a vsyinc option labelled as "adaptive sync" that works for maxwell cards? Does it still produce acreen tear when the fps is below the monitor's Hz? I've heard mixed opinions and I want a definite answer. No i dont have a gpu yet dont ask.

Hello from Germany! I have a Philips 220EW 1680x1050 and want to upgrade, but right now we have this weird VHS vs. Betamax situation. I dont know if one will die out or both keep on coexisting or both will be replaced by another open standard. The problem is that I dont want to be stuck with one or the other GPU vendor and I want to use this new monitor for many years. That means that I need an temporary solution that I can use for the next two or three years until AMD and Nvidia hopefully decide to offer something you can use with either vendor. 1440p 144Hz IPS models are too expensive to be a temporary solution (hopefully until then 1440p is the new established min. resolution for PC gaming). So its either 1440p IPS 27ish" or 144Hz TN 24ish" (Budget up to 400€ by the way) My System: i5-4570 GTX 970 (will be upgraded when next gen GTX 10xx Ti or Fury whatever is out so probably mid to 3Q 2016? no SLI or CF planned because I like simple single card solutions) 8GB Ram Use: mostly single Player games of every genre AAA and Indie (Witcher 3, GTA V, Dragon Age Inquisition, Europa Universalis IV, Prison Architect, Kerbal Space Program, Starbound etc.) sometimes FPS (not competitive, CSGO, Call of Duty etc.) much YouTube an general Web Browsing rarely Office stuff no Video editing, CAD, Programming etc. So I mainly ask you because I dont want to make a stupid mistake because I didnt think of some detail or whatever. I say that because I realize that 1440p IPS 60Hz seems to be the best interim solution for me. I worry that my GTX 970 cant handle this resolution well enough until the GPU upgrade, or can it? I am not used to 144Hz yet so I wont miss it until later. Or is it so groundbrakingly good that I should ditch 1440p and IPS for it? If you agree with me that 1440p IPS is the right choice for me, is the Dell UltraSharp U2515H good value for its money? Something else? Something bigger? Did I miss something? Is 144Hz the right choice no matter what(Fuck Olly IPS)? If yes, would the BenQ XL2411Z satisfy my need for spee... FPS? Or something different? Thank you in advance to everyone answering these questions.
