Summary Twitter leaker @9550Pro has some new information about AMD's RDNA 3 graphics cards. Apparently, at least one high-end model can reportedly operate at almost 4.0GHz. Quotes My thoughts This is pretty cool if close to being accurate. As it seems AMD has been able to surpass NVIDIA with GPU clock speed yet again. It was already impressive hearing that Ada was capable of clocking up to 3.0GHz, as Jensen Huang mentioned in the keynote that Ada was capable of 3.0GHz in their labs. There's also a leak that shows the RTX 4090 running at 2850MHz at stock settings. If RDNA3 graphics cards are hitting 3850MHz at stock settings, that's absolutely phenomenal. Even if these close to 4.0GHz results are after overclocked, I would still say that's pretty remarkable. Hi everyone, Today i updated windows to the fall creators update with Nvidia 387.92 drivers. And i updated the BIOS of my Rampage V E10 to the latest 1701 version. But after that my CPU goes to very high frequencies and voltage ! What this ? Is is dangerous ? before it did not do that ! ( 4*8GB Trident Z 3200MHz CL14 ) Intel tubo boot 3.0 is disable. Thank you

So I have an i5-4670k, it's been running in my main rig for around 4 years now and has served me well. It's always been overclocked to 3.6/3.7Ghz (3.4 stock) however recently it has become the bottleneck in my system while playing GTA V. So I decided to dial up the overclock to 4GHz which I read should be very possible on all haswell i5 and i7s. The only problem is it crashes. I'm using a corsair H55 AIO, the cpu doesn't go above 50c with a Gigabyte GA-B85-HD3 Rev 2.0. My question is, is the motherboard bottlenecking my cpu from going further as it is only a budget board? And if not, what could be stopping my CPU from reaching 4GHz?

I am currently upgrading to a Ryzen 1600 and am wondering if a Cryorig H7 would be enough to overclock it to 4Ghz (If my chip is capable of it)? If not, would a Scythe Mugen 5 be able to? Please take noise into consideration, too.

Finnish tech news site io-tech.fi has got some weird results testing the new Core i7-7700K against Intels previous processors. They tested Kaby Lake against Skylake clock-to-clock like many other news sites, but included also Sandybridge, Ivy Bridge and Haswell in the testing. All processors were run at 4.0 GHz and with 2400 MHz memory speed (except Sandybridge which only supports 2133 MHz). In synthetic benchmarks and rendering the results were as expected: Kaby Lake and Skylake scored even but otherwise performance had improved slightly by every generation. Kaby Lake beat Sandybridge by around 25-30% depending on the test. When tested in games with GTX 1080 at 1080p the results don't seem to make any sense however. The frame rates were measured with OCAT. In Battlefield 1 (DX12) Ivy Bridge beat all the others by 12 fps despite several re-runs. With Kaby Lake and Skylake the test hitched in couple of places resulting in noticeable drop in fps. Ivy Bridge suffered from the same behavior, but not in the same level. In Gears of war: Warhammer (DX12) and Civilization VI AI Benchmark (DX12) Kaby Lake and Skylake beat Ivy Bridge but Haswell rose to the top. In GTA V (DX11) Haswell and Ivy Bridge were on top of Kaby Lake and Skylake. Take this how you will. At least it seems that the IPC improvements don't really transfer to games. A small increase in clock speed would lift any one of the processors to the top. Tell me if you liked me to translate more of the article to English. The testing methology in more detail for example. Source and all the benchmarks for you to see: https://www.io-tech.fi/artikkelit/intel-core-i7-7700k-core-i5-7600k-kaby-lake/

Hello dream team, I'm new around and i believe this is my first post, but I was watching the forums for a while now. Well, let's get to the point. Am kinda new to oc, and wanted to boost up my 5820k to 4ghz, as I only have a 212 evo on it. Setup: 5820k hyper 121 evo asus x-99-a 16gb ddr4 hyperx fury black @ 2133 gtx 1070 asus strix oc. nzxt h440 super flower golden green SF-650P14XE(GX) 650W I'm currently at 4ghz with 1.07v and adaptive mode on. Did the AIDA system stability test for around 4 hours yesterday and it seems everything is ok, no crashes, no bsod. I've oc on manual mode, setting the multiplier at 40 and starting down from 1.1v. I did not go further down from 1.07v but maybe I'll try and see what happens. Can you please share some thoughts on the print-screens attached? The first one is at room temp and the second one is after approx 20 minutes of aida sst. Is it worth going further than 4ghz? What about the temps and voltage? Thank you, Alex

4ghz Can i5-8400 reach 4.0GHz? Mine doesn't
Mr.Stork posted a topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Specs: http://specr.me/show/8ee My 8400 mostly reaches 3.89GHz. I've never seen it go over 3.90GHz I have it for like a year now. Is something wrong? https://imgur.com/a/tSxqUbl The image is of task manager, but also use CPU-Z it's the same. Also, is it possible to go beyond? like overclock? Ik it's not unlocked, so is there anything that can be done to increase perf? -
So I'm working on a MAME (and others) emulator machine that will sit in a stand up cabinet for my dad, picked up some cheap older parts for it and I noticed something that seems strange to me, that processor speed is out of spec by almost 300mhz. This is an H61 board with an i5 2500 non-K (SR00T) with, I can assure you, no adjustments to bclk. I'm not disturbed by this behavior as more performance is always welcome, even for an arcade machine, but I wonder why I'm seeing it boost near 4ghz. After all this is a locked chip that is SUPPOSED to have a base speed of 3.3 with a max turbo of 3.7. I've never seen an intel chip go beyond its rated boost speed without some kind of additional prompting, IE an overclock, which is distinctly not supposed to be possible here. Has anyone seen this before, or have I come across something interesting?

So I have to pat my back that today I managed to overclock my ryzen 5 1600x to 4ghz with my brothers wraith spire stock cooler while managing not to melt down my PC. The temps are actually quite good and i intend to use it on daily basis since it is rock solid. I managed this on my ASUS b350 gaming board simply by overvolting to 1.4volts on vcore. Sidenote I also managed to oc my hyperx fury 2400mhz 2x8gb to 3200mhz :D

I'm currently still running an Vishera 8 core 8350 clocked at 4ghz. As I understand for the purpose of gaming 4ghz is 4ghz rather its 4 year old CPU or a new top of the line ryzen. Besides a lower power draw on new cpu's and larger on chip caches, for gaming is there any point of upgrading?

Is my ram preventing me from overclocking?
Yeet.exe posted a topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Hi, I'm trying to push a Ryzen 3 1300x to 4ghz but it won't boot at 4ghz on auto voltage. I'm pretty sure this is a ram issue because the 'ez debug led' lights on my motherboard get stuck at vram when I try to boot at 4ghz. I have tried removing a stick so I had 4gb, but it wouldn't boot for some reason (even when I cleared the CMOS), I've also tried taking the ram speed down to 2133 instead of 2667 but that didn't work. Does anyone know what I can do about this, thanks.- 19 replies

motherboard Need your help for choosing MOBO
Timberjack posted a topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Hello dudes. I've watched tons of videos about pc parts such as overclocking, balancing, etc.And after i've done with my investigations and finally was ready to take rest from pc hardware search. Eventually i realized that as long as i want to overclock shit out of my r5 2600 in order to catch up with gtx1080 i need a proper mobo. The problem is that for a awhile i've believed that Gigabyte AX-x370 k5 is the best choice for me as long as it was recommended by Buildzoid. But then i found another video in AHOC channel that shows how much pain in the neck is to do a decent overclock. Buildzoid states that gigabyte board has bad voltage sensors and poor vrm ,not ok but really poor.Buildzoid overcloced that cpu somehow with his DIY voltage sensor but i know that if i buy that MOBO i wouldn't bother so much on it's crappy voltage sensors and abandon OC-ing. On the other hand there is a Asus prime x370 -pro mobo wich has a good vrm but lacks clockgen and that completely confused me . To be honese i can't understand what clockgen does and since i've watched tons of videos where guys are overclocking with Asus x370- pro. So what i've wanted is can you give me some help in choosing motherboard for OC. And if you have asus prime x370 - pro what is your experience (temps, stability, voltage sensors, ram, etc)? Please take into account that by rig will ber properly ventilated, and the heatsink i'm going to buy is already overkill for 65w tdp cpus. And im going to use ryzens stock cooler to cool vrm as buildzoid did ), and i know that i need to OC RAM too in order to get maximum from ryzen 5 2600. Here is my build . https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Timberjack/saved/vgPwVn MY LIMIT FOR MOBO IS UNDER 150$ -
I just overclocked my r5 1600 (w/ stock cooler) to 3.8ghz on asus prime b350m-a motherboard by using the amd ryzen master. And then I try to overclock it to 4ghz w/ 1.35v cpu voltage everything seems to crash immediately even when I want to run cinebench to test the stability. And the temp seems to be very unstable as well. Should I keep trying with higher cpu voltage or I should just stay at 3.8ghz since the temp is very unstable?

Hello, Im deciding on a cooling solution for a ryzen 3 1300x which i am going to overclock to 4ghz. i would prefer watercooling as it looks cleaner in a tempered glass case, so would i need a 120mm radiator or a 240mm? Thanks

Im just curious about my temps and if i im running safe longevity temps I have a ryzen 5 1500x OC'ed to 4ghz with 1.25vlts Also using a upHERE aio liquid cooler. My case is a Cooler Master 5 Lite RGB seems to have limited airflow. with only the three front fans and the AIO taking up the only other fan slot. Generally on idle with only chrome open im running between 38-50 Under load in games as high as 65. Are these safe long term temps. should i look into better cooling solutions? any feedback or input would be much appreciated

Hello, everyone. I was just tinkering around with my i5 4690K on a ASUS Z97-P because why not. What I did was overclocking it to "only" 4.0GHz at 1.100V VCore and a cache ratio of 40 at also 1.100V. So it could be an optimal setting for 4.0GHz if I got that right. My question is "Is it stupid to overclock just a little?" In Cinebench R15 I get a score of 600 at 4.0GHZ and a score of 700 at 4.7GHz (highest reasonable OC on my rig). While gaming a do NOT notice any difference so far. Maybe it makes more sense to go to the max overclock possible with reasonable temperatures... I'd like to read your opinions on that =)

Hello everyone, I've recently bought a new gaming pc from Dino PC (Pre-built). I have not changed the motherboard settings and have noticed that when exporting a large video out of movie maker that the temperatures of all cores were running at over 90°C. They even reached 100°c which flagged up on RealTempGT. I'm not sure what to do and am considering emailing Dino PC encase there is an issue with the chip. Specs: i7 4790k (fresh- no oc) 16gb 2400 Mhz corsair vengeance pro 4gb GTX 970 Palit (1205 mhz) Corsair 650w vs Zalman z11 Plus (Came with 5 inbuilt fans - 1x120mm front, 1 x 120mm top, 1x 120mm rear, 2x 80 mm side, I have no additional cooling - all stock heat sinks and default case fans If you think the problem may be fan mounts and so on, I will send the PC back as I do not want to void the warranty. Any help is greatly appreciated and if you need any extra info, let me know. Rupert

Hey there everyone, I'm just curious about the temp read outs i'm getting from the h80i under load i'm getting around 65-75 degrees and when on idle of just running normally getting about 27-35 degrees, is this readout alright for a core i7 4790k clocked at 4.0ghz. I have the fans on the h80i configured as an intake pulling air into my case and exhausting from the top by a 120mm fan.
