Hey all LTT Forumers! I Wanted to make a post to sanity check myself on this... I Recently brought a RTX 3090 MSI Suprim X used for a good price, but I've been slightly worried about the temps, is 105c on the hotspot too high? I've left the power limit on stock, but i found limited it to 70% works well to keep the temps under control while losing about 5 to 10 FPS... I Purchased some K5 pro and Kryonaut Extreme just in case so I am ready to tackle a repasting job, but i know the MSI Suprim is a pain in the rear to take apart and put back together but since im out of warranty, is it worth it? The temps and power draw below is after 10 minutes in cities skyline 2 with 100k pop.

Hello, this is my first post here. Yesterday I installed the latest nvidia driver to test that new nvidia beta app. After installation and rebooting Windows 11 there was a short nvidia bios message shown before the default mainboard bios splash screen. This first time I have ever seen that. My PC booted, I started up a game (F1 23), while loading the game my monitors suddenly lost connection but the game was running (heard the gamesound). So i shutdown my PC (shutdown button on the case), waited and since then I‘m not getting any video output anymore on both of my monitors with that card. Windows boots up just fine (RGB syncing works and the hardware info on my keyboard works as well). I tested an old amd gpu via pcie riser cable and it works, i can see the windows desktop GPU is a Manli RTX 3090 with an Alphacool waterblock on it. Right now I‘m about to get that 3090 out, mount the aircooler on it and test the gpu in my second pc.

My EVGA 3090 FTW3 Ultra just got shorted out a couple of days ago. No overclocking just some gaming on it. I have determined it is the card and everything else in my PC works just fine. Tried warranty but unfortunately I am out of it by a year. Decided to take it apart to see if I could where it shorted, It looks perfect as far as I could tell. Anyone think they can help or am I just screwed?

Budget (including currency): 900-1200 USD Country: Tunisia Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: mostly going to be used for AI-related stuff and games at 1440p Other details: I found some deals for 3090 from: MSI (1260 USD) PALIT (965 USD) PALIT OC (900 USD) I want to know if the lower models from the 40 series (mainly 4070 and 4070 TI since the 4080 is way above my budget with the power supply upgrade that is needed) are worth it for gaming/AI versus the lack of V-RAM Note that the card availabilities and choice are limited in my case, In addition, my power supply has to be changed since it's only 650W gold (open for power supply upgrade suggestions as well). Thank you

Budget (including currency): $1100 USD Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: I play half life alyx and vrchat in VR on a quest 2 over a link cable and not much else that is demanding Other details: I managed to get a 3090 FE off of a friend new in box for $400 and dont want to spend too much more than $700 on all of the other parts. I am thinking of picking up a 7800x3d with a gigabyte b650 mobo and 32gb of trident z ddr5 at 6300mhz. I already have a PSU that is suitable and a case as well as noctua fans and an nth-12 as well as all the other peripherals. Intending to buy in the next couple of days, i am playing in vr mostly and my monitor is 1600x900 at 60hz (may upgrade not sure though.) For this sort of price range is this the best i can do to eliminate bottlenecking on my GPU? I am not too up to date on PC parts so please help, thanks ^^

Hey. Hope you can help. Powered up my pc today and noticed a vertical line going top to bottom on my screen. I can only describe it as a visual artifact. It flickers constantly. Only really noticeable on darker backgrounds. RTX 3090 connected to an LG C9 OLED via a HDMI 2.1 cable. I've updated the drivers in geforce experience. I've tried a different cable, and I've tried different hdmi port on the TV. The TV doesn't show the issue on anything other than the pc. There's only one hdmi port on the card so I tried a Display port to HDMI adapter and the issue has gone, but now it can only do 1080p 60hz. My guess is that the low res and refresh is a limitation of the adapter more than anything else, but it still allows HDR. What do you think? Broken hdmi port on the graphics card? Could I get a better display port to HDMI adapter to get 4k 120 VRR again?

Got a used 3090 on ebay. It came with an alphacool eisblock es waterblock that the previous owner used it with. I looked at it after unboxing and it looks visibly bent at the edge especially, and I think it's because of this capacitor https://www.reddit.com/r/ZOTAC/comments/10r8e05/rtx_3090_trinity_pcb_question/ Doesn't go back to straight even after taking it off. I asked the seller and he said he used it like this for around a year with no issues. How bad is this on a scale of 1-10? I tried sanding it down but I think it wasn't enough. Can't really tell if doing more will fix it considering the kink is visible even on just the bare board. Should I sand it down more or leave it like this?

Country: India Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Blender Cycles, Adobe Photoshop / Illustrator, Cyberpunk 2077, Forza Horizon 5, Minecraft RTX SCENARIO: So, I have my system with me since almost 6 years, her name is Stygian and she is my first high end build. I majorly use her for my Automotive Design related projects along with Gaming and Entertainment. The specs are as follows: Intel Core i7 6700k / NVidia GeForce GTX 1070 FE / Asus Z170 Pro Gaming / HyperX DDR4 16GB RAM / Cooler Master MA610p / Adata SSD + WD HDD / Cooler Master G550M / Cooler Master CM Storm I have it paired with Logitech Mechs, Wacom Intuos, LG IPS 4K panel and HK Soundsticks 4 for my requirements. Elephant in the room: Now, I have a MSI NVidia GeForce RTX 3090 Suprim X sitting with me that I would love to use. The Plan: As I am not willing to spend too much of money on a computer in today's market (And do not wish to go through the pain of re-installing windows and migrate the data) I have planned something out: I will be investing a bit in a Cooler Master 850 Gold PSU, a Corsair or Lian Li Cabinet and a couple more RAM sticks, then just throw my current system into it along with the 3090, and keep my 1070 FE as a pretty trophy. I need help with: Knowing if it will be a 'survivable' enough combination, and/or if there are better ways I could plan this revamp out, as I have fallen quite off from the PC building world in past few years. I am willing to keep the 6700k and the mobo because it is good enough for my needs, and I don't wish to break my wallet that is being eaten by my car and bike and bike gear! Hope to know your views, thank you!

Hello all! I need a little help on this one! I currently have a machine that has a R9 7900x and a Zotac 3090 with 16GB Ram running off of a 1000w NZXT PSU. I only play on a 1080p monitor which I'm aware is overkill but lol. I have had so many performance issues with this machine from constant DirectX crashes to games sometimes playing at 20 fps and when someone starts shooting or calls in a killstreak in CoD, it freezes the system from anywhere from 1-5 seconds meaning I'm already dead and spectating my teammates from the time the freezing stops. its becoming annoying to the point I've been playing on my Ps5 more then this machine. ASWELL AS THAT, even if i leave the machine on for over 24 hours, windows becomes unresponsive and games run at such low fps that its not even worth playing; while a quick turn off and on again fixes the issue i would love to maybe understand a fix for this. Game crashes also causes whole system crashes causing the machine to turn off and on again randomly. I've updated all my drivers on the GPU side and I always do a clean install. I just feel like I'm missing something that's causing such low performance. If anyone can leave suggestions that would be beautiful! I've left MW2 Benchmarks to maybe help a tad Thanks gamers.

Finally upgraded my GPU from a 2070 and picked up a used MSI 3090 Ventus 3X that looks well kept. It is getting a 1080 preset furmark score of 15000 and from what I see it should be around 20000. I am seeing the core clocks maxing out around 1000Mhz and not sure what to do about that other than MSI afterburner and do a 750+ to the core clock. Is that something that is ok, will that potentially lead to issues, is there a better way to fix the low clock speeds? I know the 1080p score shows 1770 MHz but that is just a spike at the beginning and end when entering/exiting full screen or starting the test (not sure exactly what causes the spike). Watching the core clock during the test it bounces wildly between 915 and 1005. GPU temps max at 60C and have a Corsair Platinum 750W PSU.

Hello, this is my first post on this forum! Im looking for some advice, and you’ve probably heard it a lot before anyway, but here goes. I’ve recently taken delivery of a part built system, that I specified with a PSU from beQuiet, specifically the Pure Power 12M 1000w fully modular unit. When I received the machine, it was my intention to add, among a couple of other peripherals, a GPU. I found an Asus ROG Strix RTX 3090 on sale on Facebook Marketplace for an absolute steal, so naturally, I bit their hand off. However when it came time to fit the card, I discovered there were only 2 12-pin ports on the IO of the PSU, the third is a PCIe 5.0 slot, very different in shape and character to the “standard” PCIe power cables (12-pin to 8-pin). I’ve trialled the card with two out of three 8-pin ports populated and connected, and even though the RGB on the card lights up as expected, I also see a red LED over the unpopulated port, and naturally I get no display output. I’ve read various comments about Daisy chaining two connectors from one cable, about how it isn’t recommended but is also field tested and indeed carried out in various situations. Is it also possible to adapt PCIe 5.0 to an 8-pin, via a female to male adaptor cable, to keep the recommended 3 dedicated cable setup? Or would I have to daisy chain in this case? Thank you for your time and attention, may you all have a very pleasant day!

I've been having this argument with my father for a few days now, I've been insisting that he will have a much better time with doing VFX work with a 3090 due to its higher Cuda core count and double vram compared to the 4070ti, but he insists do to pc bench marks saying the 4070ti is like 15% better, it is the superior card, which of us is correct?

I know the rule is to try and get hands-on experience or try to get some data from it. But it's a really good price and it's on a mostly trust worthy platform thanks to YouTubers roasting it for its practices, it's like the one part I'm missing from my new build and I don't even plan to really hold onto it. just want something powerful, yes, but a powerful stop gap until 5000/Blackwell comes out.

Hello, recently I have made a new computer, it has a Ryzen 9 7900x, 32gb of ddr5 ram, a 850w psu, a 3090, and a h150i capellix aio. After a long render session blender started to come up with "illegal address" and cuda errors, and my screen had green artifacts and games did aswell. So In response, I restarted my pc, and then did a clean reinstall of the drivers (studio this time) yet the problem still persists, I have asked other people and they seem to think that the 3090 has vram issues, which could be a possibility due to it being a refurbished GPU from Amazon. I am just wanting to see what you all think is the problem, and if I should just return it and get a replacement from amazon. Images below are artifacts in games, the specific game is in fortnite and similar or worse artifacts appear in other games.

Budget (including currency): $2000 USD Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: mainly be used for gaming, some games i might play: COD warzone valheim minecraft GTA V overwatch I’m still debating if I want to do any minor coding projects on this PC. If i were to, mainly working with stuff like powershell, python, and front end coding stack. Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): i already have an RTX 3090 that I bought about a year ago and just been sitting around as I saved up, the one listed in my pcpartpicker list. Currently using two 23.8” 165hz monitors. Do want to upgrade to a third monitor but no rush at the moment so nothing in mind at the moment for a third monitor. i will be honest the parts for this list were just inspired by other 3090 builds I saw through pc part picker. I’m looking mainly for longevity, so any advice would be appreciated. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/b2H8sL

In God of War at 1440p, everything on ultra settings and unlocked framerate it reaches 86 C. With MSI Afterburner, it gets to 72 C with the fans of the GPU maxed out to 100, but I still don't know if it's normal. I bought the GPU from a friend, and I wanted to test the games, but I got to high temperatures (with out MSI). My specs are CPU 12700k 4800 mhz GPU: 3090 RTX 24 VRAM RAM: 2x 16 GB DDR5 5200 MHz Kingston Fury Beast NVME 2TB Patriot PSU 750 W Corsair I'm also planning to perform a stress test; could that damage the GPU or my PC? What should I see if it was used for mining?

Hey first time poster just don't know where else to go, My 3090 FE has suddenly started crashing and I can't identify why. After around 10 minutes of gaming both my screens go black and the gpu's fans peg to 100%, I looked around online and saw that the most likely cause of this problem is memory overheating as my gpu temps in task manager were reading normal (around 64 celcius when gaming at 1440p) so I launched HWmonitor and watched my memory temps, They got up to around 100 celcius and then the crash happened. Looked around online and everywhere said the thermal pads needed replacing and the chip needed re-pasting so I watched a bunch of tutorials and got all the recomended pads and thermal paste, took it apart took the old pads off and cleaned the memory with isopropyl alcohol and applied the new pads. Did the same with the chip and closed it all up, booted up and temps were looking way better. I was now idling at around 28-29 celcius on the chip whereas idle before was around 40 celcius and the memory was down to idling at around 40 celcius and before it was idling around 60 so I thought great everything worked and I should be fine, Launched a game and was playing for about 10-15 minutes before the same crash happened again and after turning my pc off and letting it sit for a while and then turning it back on and letting it idle for a while my temps were exactly the same as before I repasted and replaced the thermal pads so i'm really at a loss as to how to fix this or if i just didn't actually make a difference repasting and re-padding the gpu. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I truly have no idea what to do and I live in the uk so there's not really any good pc stores I can take it to for them to look at or fix for me. Sorry for long post, Thanks.

Ok so this might be wrong place for this but. Recently I found this local ad for someone selling their used EVGA RTX 3090 FTW Hybrid for 950$. I have a small compact rig using the Corsair Crystal 280x. I am running a water cooled 1080ti with a 240mm rad and a 9900k with another 240mm aio. So i know i can fit two radiators in the case and the seller says the card has only been lightly used but honesty I know thats probably bs. But I wonder if I should risk it and go for it or wait and see if the 4070ti gets a all in one water cooled version which is also a long shot. My main issue is that an air cooled card gets too hot in the case, even after modified the case to have better airflow.

So with my tax refund in hand now, I was thinking about upgrading my 3060 TI to either a 7900 XT or used 3090 to help out with streaming. While the 3060 ti has been doing a good job on most games, I still tend to struggle on certain titles on stream. Could be due to me running things on ultra along with running vtuber software during stream but I do want the game to look nice for those watching (running at 720p60fps at 4500kbps). I also plan on switching to 2k as well, going from a 3 monitor setup to a 2 with my current main monitor being the backup and the newer, larger one (probably 32in) being my main. My current set up consists of: Ryzen 9 5900x 32 GB Corsair Vengeance LPX RAM DDR4 3600 MSI B450 Tomahawk Max II Gigabyte Aorus RTX 3060 TI Super Flower Leadex Pro 750w PSU 80 Bronze My games tend to vary mostly, sometimes I'll play Fortnite, Hunt: Showdown, or Tarkov but I do want to eventually start streaming more modern, demanding games. I understand that I'd have to upgrade the PSU for the 3090, but I also have heard that AMD cards aren't as good for streaming and other non-gamimg tasks (I do want to get into video editing with Sony Vegas and eventually do some Blender/Unity work). I also considered the possibility of just buying a new motherboard with built in WIFI (since I use a PCie wifi card on my current one) and get an A380 to handle the streaming software and save more of my 3060 ti for gaming, but I don't know when AV1 encoding will become a thing or how well it handles H264 encoding atm. But if this works, then it might be the cheapest option I have. So which should I go for? Should I give team red a chance and see if my streaming performance will improve with them or play it safe and stick with team green along with the new PSU? Or maybe even that idea with the A380?

So I bought a used pc the other day I tried it at the seller and everything worked. When I got home I plugged my ram in and my hdd. When I turned it on i heard a pop and smoke in the middle of the motherboard/Graphics card. I went to a pc shop to get I fixed, first I thought the psu was broken but it wasn't. They told me that they couldn't go any further because the gpu and cpu is fully water cooled. What do you guys think that broke?

Hello, Between the RTX 3090 and the 6900 XT - which would you pair with a 5950x and a ROG Crosshair VIII Formula? My deciding factors are: Thermals - Noise - Reliability I don't care much for which can squeeze out more fps. I just want to make sure that I get is basically reliable. If someone can share from their own experience or a similar setup? Thanks!

Hey Guys, I upgraded my PC since i needed it for work and thats obviosly a good thing for gaming too. Now i ran in some Performance issues with my new 3090. All Graphic Programms work totally fine but the difference in Gaming compared to my old 1070 is barely 10 fps even in low effort games like LoL. I tryed DDU and nothing changed. GPU has seperate Power Cables to PSU and the Bios setting is on GEN 4.0 for the 16x PCIE slot. Specs: CPU: R9 5900X at Stock Speed , RAM: 64GB at 3600 GPU: Asus 3090 Strix OC, MoB: Asus X570-E Hope u have some ideas. Userbench for u all: https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/39869341
