Hello everyone! I've been thinking of adding some more ram to my PC and was curious if I should update the BIOS as well since I never did the update on it and my rig was made in December 2018. I don't even have the option to turn XMP on so would that be available with a newer version of the BIOS by any chance? I've got a 1800x as the CPU and currently 16GB of Corsair Vengeance (2x8GB) DDR4 3200MHz C16 but I never managed to hit those 3200MhHz while having a stable system. How much out of the loop am I? Every answer will be much appreciated!!

I'm planning a Ryzen build for my home computer which I do content creator work on via Adobe Creative Suite. I am not planning to overclocking anything so I was wondering if the 1700 is going to be the better buy at 329.00 or is the 1800x a better solution (even without overclocking) for my workflow.

Just wanted to know how many gamers out there would go for Ryzen 1800x considering that stability problem will be solved by updates and future games are developing to use multicore . And most importantly for 1080p gaming.

I got an 1800x recently, but have had to wait for motherboards to be in stock. Currently I am likely to get the MSI X370 Gaming Pro Carbon, but I was going to get the ASUS Crosshair 6 Hero. I didn't get the crosshair 6 because of the back-order and BIOS issues, but I'm guessing that it'll be fixed soon. Fry's estimates it to be able to ship on April 6th. Should I just stick to the MSI board, switch to the ASUS board, or get something else? Thanks.

Watching and reading reviews on the subject the price for performance currently the Ryzen 7 1700 when over clocked can match a 1800X or oc'ed, can anyone explain to me what the point is of the 1800X, does it have it's place?

So i just received my 1800x in the mail today, however i'm still waiting on the motherboard. The retailer hasn't received them yet, and don't even have an ETA. I can wait patiently, no problem, but was curious if anyone else here in Europe has a similar "issue". I'm in the Netherlands by the way.

Hey everyone, so I have this question I still have a 3rd generation i5 (3570k overclocked, check my profile for details if you want) and I know a lot of people that still run i5/i7 from 2nd and 3rd generations in their setups because of the upgrades never really being worth it here in my country. In short I play games and do some streaming and then the basic tasks (some programming for varsity and then the pc is mostly for recreation). would it be worth getting an upgrade to either the new Ryzen or Kabylake CPUs ? The longer explanation: In terms of use it would be mostly for gaming @1080p 144Hz, and streaming some basic gameplay to twitch (directly from pc using OBS and at a low quality because the internet here sucks :"D) Most of the setup will stay the same and the upgrade is only for motherboard, ram and cpu. The cost of getting the i7-7700k, MSI Z270 Tomahawk and 16GB of Crucial 2400MHz DDR4 ram would be about $785 US (Could also swap out the i7 for the i5-7600k dropping the intel setup to $670 US) and getting the AMD Ryzen 7 1800X 16GB Corsair Vengeance DDR4 2400Mhz, and ASUS Prime X370-Pro would be about $980 US (But if i swap the cpu for the 1700X and the Motherboard for ASUS Prime B350-Plus bringing the price down to about $760 US because I only plan on having 1 GPU for the foreseeable future). The prices may vary as I checked the conversion rate on the day of posting the topic and my country uses South African Rand (ZAR).

bought the 1800x and the crosshair 6 hero today and put it onto the test bench, everything works just fine, until i try to monitor the temps i find out that not a single software can read the temp correctly, i figured out that it is prob cuz of the bios, so i downloaded the newest bios from the asus website( it is a beta bios) and after i update the bios, it didnt boot anymore. so i turned off the system and tried to turn it back on, theres just absolutely no reactions whatsoever, cpu fan not working, nothing. Neither the header nor the on board button works, the board does light up tho (it lights on when its getting powered from the psu not when its turned on)

Ok, straight to the parts: The Tower 900, AMD Ryzen 7 1800X, ASUS Crosshair VI Hero, ASUS STRIX 980 Ti 6GB, Corsair AX 860 PSU, Samsung 960 EVO 1TB M.2 PCIe SSD, Corsair Vengeance LED DDR4 2666MHz 2x16GB. So what I need help whit for now, is figuring out witch fans to go for on the two 560mm slim rads. Also, rad recommendations, and watercooling tips are welcome.

I want to buy DDR4 for my new Ryzen rig. But as far as I know, there are some issues with memory frequencies. As you can see on the attached screenshot, maximum speed can be achieved using Single Rank Memory in dual channel mode (only in 2 dimms). Maybe someone has 3200Mhz speed on Ryzen platform already? I have AsRock AB350 Pro4 mobo + Ryzen 1700. So, it would be great if someone suggest fastest DDR4 kit for my combo.

Hey guys, what temps are you getting with your ryzen CPU's, is anyone having issues with idle temps? Both my brother and I have H100i's (gen 1) on our chips and are seeing temps around 50°C idle. We have reseated and checked different programs for a different result but to no avail. Could this be an issue with low mounting pressure? Load temps are around 60°C.

Price to performance is very good imo, the slightly lower gaming performance is worth it imo for more productivity. (as I also heavily take use of multithreading) What are your thoughts on the launch? It was overhyped, but not as bad as some people hoped

So I'm in the process of starting my own business venture where I will be providing and building 3D designs for clients, either jus the cad design or with my 3D printer also providing molds an/or prototypes. For my first client that I just now landed I will also be creating a short film of what their new product is made to do, that will then be shown to the companies board. I have a background in video editing and 3D design already, however, with having the budget up front to buy new equipment and possibly build a new workstation computer I'm thinking I'm in a serious need of a new system, just for work. My primary system I use currently (Blueberry Pie) has an i7-6700k with an Asus GTX 980 Ti Stix OC and it's been doing wonders for me but I feel like the latest Ryzen 7 1800x and the just released GTX 1080 Ti would greatly benefit me. My absolute max budget is $5000 CAD. Below is what I've come up with: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/TtpfGf Ryzen 7 CPU's seem like the perfect choice, they are very competitively priced and as I literally don't care about gaming at all with this particular build I think that I would get spectacular performance for my main use which is Adobe Premiere Pro and Autocad. My reasoning for a GTX 1080 Ti is the 3500+ Cuda cores, which when I built my current main system is why I bought the GTX 980 Ti (high Cuda core count). The $1000 GTX 1080 is to represent the MSRP of the founders edition GTX 1080 Ti's when the release here in Canada. Storage is very important and I wouldn't look to cut back on anything really, the m.2 is for OS and program files, the 2 SSD's will be cinfigured in Raid 0 for super fast storage, and the 6TB hard drives are for mass storage, although I will be using file copying software to have data redundancy on one hard drive to another as I cannot always be hooked up to my server. The cooler is nothing special as by the end of summer I would probably do a custom loop, effectively cooling the CPU and GPU. Other than that I did choose the best $/GB SSD's available here in Canada and one of the best $/GB 7200RPM hard drives available as well. For the RAM I'd ideally go for high-speed RAM, and as I tend to eat up a lot of memory in Autocad I would go for a minimum of 2x16GB sticks for now. But I did add the best $/GB non-ugly RAM available for the time being (64GB). If anyone has some other suggestions I'm open to hear them all, I was thinking of maybe going for a Quadro card as well? Although there may not be much room in the budget. I do not need any peripherals in this budget. Thanks in advanced.

So my Ryzen system just randomly freezes in Windows. The qcode read out does not show a crash, but I can't do anything but reset the system at this point. I am running a C6H with the 5704 beta bios. Any ideas what could cause this?

Here's my setup. ASUS Crosshair VI Hero AMD Ryzen 7 1800X Corsair Vengeance Low Profile set to 2666MHz Cooler: Noctua NH D15 When I clock my 1800X from anything from Stock to 3.9GHz every tells me my temps are 15°~25° C Idle, Ryzen Master, HWMonitor, and they say my load temps max out around 35°~ C Now... when I set my OC to 4.0GHz reported temps are WAY higher. Everything is telling me Idle temps are between 50°~60° C and Load temps are around 75°~ C Huh, the delta temp seems to be consistent though...

Hi all I did a rebuild today with the AMD 1800X and Gigabyte X370 Gaming 5 MB. The build is running perfectly, aside from one glaring issue. On a cold boot, the PC seems to boot cycle three times (always 3, the fans rev to their max for 2s or so). It then boots as if nothing was wrong. Restarts do not exhibit the same behaviour. One extremely odd thing I noticed (and what I think is a clue) is that on flashing the BIOS to the latest version (F5), on restart the PC appeared to 'flash itself back' to F3. I have never seen that behaviour in my life! Entering the BIOS also intermittently states 'BIOS values have been reset,.' This is despite my not touching the CLR CMOS jumper/button, or anything to do with them. The PC is running a fresh install of W10, the latest BIOS, up to date drivers (system and GPU), and pretty much anything else I can think of. If anybody has seen this before, and knows what to do, I would be hugely appreciative. Best RafflesTheThief

I was wondering if anyone knew of any recommended settings for overclocking a 1800x. I know each piece of silicon is different and yields different results, but I was wondering more specifically what the thermal maxes are for the chip and what voltages I should avoid going over to prevent damage to the chip. I plan to attempt a 3.9-4.0 OC on my Noctua NH D15 (no low noise adapters both fans) in my Noctis 450 gaming case. Motherboard is a Gigabyte AX370 Gaming 5 with an EVGA 750W GQ (80 plus Gold). Thanks in advanced!

The title says it all. I'm looking for an upgrade from my 8350, and I'm going into game development. I plan to use Unreal Engine 4, Unity, and the Cry Engine. As of now, I'm looking at a few. Mainly the 1700x or the i7-7700k. I wouldn't be opposed to paying extra for a 1800x, but much more is too expensive. I was wondering what anyone would recommend, and thanks for the help.

I'm making a build with the 1800x, and it is time to decide on a cooler. I want to find a good cooler for around 24-50$ usd. I don't intend to overclock, and no water cooling. I don't like the design of the hyper 212 evo, and was wondering if there was a better option. If not that is okay, but I was just wondering. Thanks for the help.

so just as the title states. im having issues. LOW FPS in games. boot times are over a minute. i had 64 gbddr4 in it but dropped it to 32 (two sticks) see if that helped but it doesnt. I tried to overclock the ram because its trident z 3000 mhz but the bios will only allow up to 26 something mhz but the bios tries to auto it to 1600mhz. i have a nvidia 1060 in there so i shouldnt have any issue getting 60 FPS on the highest settings in 1080p. I do run a plex server but ive ran one on other computer and had other processes going and not had any issues. Everytime i bring it up alot of people tell me that they arent having the problem with boot times or anything and its likely how i have it set up. I do have a weird EFI partition on a drive that isnt my boot drive, my boot drive is a SSD.

I'm making a build based around the 1800X, and I'm looking for a new cooler. Right know I'm looking into the corsair H60 or the H80i V2. I'm not looking for anything over 100$, because I don't intend to overclock very much. I was wondering what everyone would recommend, and thanks for the help.

right guys, firstly i built a new system i have a couple questions. A. what are safe temps for ryzen to run at 24/7 B. my ram doesnt seem to want to reach 2933mhz at all but it is ok at 2666? C. my radiator fans seem to be fixed and dont react to temps? they sound the same regardless of cpu load(they are on a splitter plugged into cpu_fan), they seem to be running at 100% D.idle temps seem to be 40-50c(its very jumpy) E.conflicting CPU temp reports from ryzen master vs aida64 my specs are in my signature many thanks
