Just browsing around and getting my nose into things, I learned that Facebook and other companies routinely dump Xeon servers and chips on eBay. For instance, you can buy today - April 4 - a dual E5-2670 with 64gb (or more) ram and even a Quadro here and there, for $1000. You can also build a Micro ITX Ryzen 1700 dinker for about $670. Both machines would be an example of slaves to the main box. Any thoughts? The idea would be to chain about 4-5 of them.

Heyy guys, I made a post about this 3 weeks ago, but at the end of this week I'll pick a pc and build it. -I'm looking for the best gaming and streaming pc for around $1,800 -I want the CPU to be all in one watercooled -if it has a theme better, but all black is sexy too -I'm also looking for a gaming monitor to for with the computer, max I'll pay is $500 for one (not part of the $1,800 for the pc) -any suggestions Thanks!

Hi, I'm planning on building a new gaming PC in the upcoming months, and would like some help/recommendations. Lets get the basic info out of the way: Budget: Around 1800 USD. The budget is quite flexible, but I'm not interested in wasting money on the newest, overpriced parts. Location: Norway. 15 000 NOK = around 1800 USD Aim: The computer will mostly be used for playing modern games. Some indie titles, but mostly graphics heavy games like BF1, Dark Souls 3 and The Witcher 3 to name a few. Peripherals: Other than maybe a new 60hz 1920x1080 monitor, I'm all set. Monitors: Currently I'm using 2 monitors, and intend to continue using two. Both with the resolution of 1920x1080. Why am I upgrading?: My current computer has not been upgraded in 4-5 years and it is starting to show. I am getting sub-60fps in some games. I'm afraid I'll just bottleneck my computer if I upgrade individual parts. Case preference: Nothing too flashy or too big, a midtower should work. Product/Company preference: I have become quite familiar with NVIDiA and would prefer to use that. I can wait a couple of months if there is expected a big price-drop on certain parts in the coming months. I plan to build the computer myself. Please let me know if you need additional info. Hi all! I am soon to purchase a new computer after years of saving. It's primary purpose is going to be gaming, but I am studying a Level 3 BTEC Extended Diploma in Computing and AS Mathematics at college (UK) and we are working with virtual machines to set up and protect networks and some minor video editing/rendering. I am also studying for the Cisco CCNA and CCLI and hope to go into cyberspace security. I have designed this computer from my own experience with designing computer for multiple purposes to fit a certain budget; but one think which I have no experience in is water cooling. Therefor I have put together a list of components to which i believe will fill my purpose. I ask only one thing, I accept all forms of criticism but there is a line between criticizing and being an d**k. I'm building a new pc. I'm from Europe (Slovenia). I was thinking to spend around 1500€ for the PC. I also need a good monitor for around 200€ - 300€. (In the future I'll be adding another one, for a dual screen configoration, but only 1 will be used for gaming). The PC will be in a red/black color scheme, so I want the parts to match that. It can also be in other matching colors. I'll mainly use the PC for gaming. I would like the system to be upgradable so I can add things in the future. I was planing my setup kinda like this and would like some feedback: (the prices are from local stores in my country) CPU: I5 4670k -260€ CPU Cooling: Corsair H100i 110€ Motherboard: ASUS Maximus VII Ranger 168€ HDD: WD Black 1TB -80€ SSD: Samsung 840 EVO 120 GB -90€ PSU: deciding between: Corsair RM 650W -120€ or Corsair CS650M 650W - 90€ RAM: deciding between: Corsair Vengeance 1600 2x8GB - 163€ or Kingston HyperX Fury 1866 2x8GB -180€ GPU: deciding between:Asus DC2 GTX 780 -530€ or ASUS R9 290 -500€ Case: Haven't decided yet. So that is kinda around 1500€ The rest of my budget i will be spending on a good monitor (haven't looked at any yet). Any suggestions for the build and the monitor are welcome.

Hey guys, I am currently trying to build an approximately 1800$ gaming pc, and I mean solely for gaming, and need some help with the part list. Here is what I have so far: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/9ZD6jc First of all any feedback is welcome however I do have a few specific questions about some parts. For the AIO cooler, should i go with the Corsair H100i or rather the Kraken X62 as the price difference between them is not that large. Concerning the ram, is there any noticeable difference when going above 3000 and also is there any other ram that you would suggest, because it is faster for a similar price or simply because it is cheaper with the same specs. For the samsung 850 evo m.2 ssd I have a couple of questions alone. PC part picker gives me this warning: The motherboard M.2 slot #1 shares bandwidth with a SATA 6.0 Gb/s port. When the M.2 slot is populated, one SATA 6Gb/s port is disabled. I wanted to ask if there is any noticeable difference of not having one more SATA 6 Gb/s port as im not entirely sure what you use them for and secondly if I install it in that port if it will run at the same speed as normal. My second question is if it is worth to invest in either the Evo 850 pro or the Evo 960 based on price/performance ratios. Concerning the HDD I would love some suggestions as I have no experience whatsoever in that field. Case wise, I am not entirely sure if all of my parts will actually fit into it and wanted to ask if anybody has a general experience and can tell me if the case is large enough, and if not what case would be. Adding onto the case, how many case fans should I install in it and should I replace the stock fans that come with the case and the water cooler with more high quality fans. My last question is concerning the optical drive and which I should choose as I again do not have any knowledge about them.
