So I realised dumbly when I returned to minecraft that my ssd is being used on my xbox and I can use it to improve my loading times in game, but want to keep all my files and apps on my hdd. I know I have to format it on my xbox and then install windows, and then use my system image to trasfer all my apps, files and drivers. But will they conflict with each other or must I format my hdd?

Hello, My HDD is currently dying so i'm gonna replace it, and at the same time i want to upgrade the os SSD wich is only 128GB and cause problemes because it's always full. I think to replace the os SSD with a 1-2T one but i don't know how i should partition it and set it up. Wich size the C: should be, if it's possible separate the os with page file and hibernation file from every other (progams folders, users folders). Also is it possible to make a fresh install of windows without losing all the drive ? (in case i need in futur). The setup is : 128 G sata SSD with OS, full --> 1-2 T NVME SSD 2 T HDD 95% full, video/photos/apps/lot of games /backups --> 4-8 T HDD 1 T NVME 90% full, AppData/Roaming folder, games needing a SSD and modded MC / Skyrim

I'm running Windows 10 Pro on a self-built desktop, and nearly every time I log in, I get a "The Last USB device you plugged in experienced an error". It's very annoying. I'm certain this stems from an Unknown USB device in my device manager. To be specific, it says "Unknown USB Device (Link In Compliance Mode)". I know that in normal situations, you'd simply unplug and re-plug whatever device was having the issue. Problem is, I can't figure out what device this is referring to! I've unplugged everything, one device at a time, to see if that listing removed itself. Nothing. I even made sure to test with the devices using internal USB headers for case USB ports, media card reader, etc. I can remove ALL my USB devices, and that device listing is still there. I'm guessing it's some sort of integrated motherboard USB device. My bios and all my device drivers, including USB drivers are up to date. The properties for this entry in the device manager says the following: ---------- Unknown USB Device (Link In Compliance Mode) Device Type: Universal Serial Bus Controllers Manufacturer: (Standard USB Host Controller) Location: Port_#0022.Hub_#0001 Device Status: Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43) The SuperSpeed link to the USB device keeps going to an error state Compliance. If the device is removable, remove the device and then disable/enable from device manager to recover. ---------- Under "Details" I checked the Hardware ID, hoping there'd be something, but all that says is: "USB\PORT_LINK_COMPLIANCE_MODE" If I uninstall the device, it shows back up shortly, even if I haven't touched my USB ports. I do suppose I could Disable the device. But I'd like to save that as a last resort. I'd like to think I did a decent job of digging on my own for this, but now I need some help! My basic PC specs are below, please feel free to ask me any more details you might need. Thanks in advance! PC Specs: CPU: Intel Core i7 6700K RAM: 32GB DDR4 GPU: EVGA Geforce GTX 980 MOBO: Gigabyte GA-Z170X-Gaming 7 (Rev: 1.0) With latest firmware) Boot SSD: Samsung 500GB SATA Storage HDD: Western Digital 3TB HDD Case: Corsair 650D OS: Windows 10 Pro

I have recently been asked to update a laptop (Lenovo) of a family member that has not been updated beyond Windows 10 Version 1909. I try to run the windows update tool in settings and it is attempting to download Version 21H2. It stays at 0% of a few minutes then suddenly goes to 96% before failing and throwing the following error after a minute or two: "There were problems installing some updates, but we'll try again later. Feature update to Window 10, version 21H2 - Error 0xc1900223" I have (not in this order): 1) Gone into Services and changed the Windows Update properties to Automatic from Manual 2) Windows Troubleshooter does not find any issues 3) run sfc /scannow in cmd 4) run ipconfig /flushdsn in cmd I have found a couple of forums here that mention a similar problem but there are no answer on them. Can I plug in a bootable USB stick with the lastest windows 10 image ISO and update the laptop or is there another "better" way?

For the past few months, I have been having an issue with my system crashing EVERY time that I play a game. I can typically play for around a half hour before it happens. Screen goes black, sound loops for about a minute, then it completely resets. My Event Viewer logs for every crash have been : "The device driver for the Trusted Platform Module (TPM) encountered a non-recoverable error in the TPM hardware, which prevents TPM services (such as data encryption) from being used." This happens on newer games, and older games alike. Jedi Survivor, Lego Star Wars Skywalker Saga, Forza Horizon 5 are the main ones that I have been playing, and crashing. I have noticed that Minecraft doesn't seem to crash the system. I've been having this issue since I recently got stable internet at the home I just bought, haven't had a good enough connection to hook up my computer for 8 months. I've updated Windows, updated all drivers that I can find for the graphics card, motherboard, all software like iCue. Event details and PC specs at bottom of post. When exactly did a build of "Windows 10" change too much for us to question if it is Windows 10? Is it possible that Windows 10 never officially released, and is going to perpetually remain in public beta forever? All these builds are considered to be "version 10.0", so when did it change. "Windows 11" build 22621 has the same amount of changes from build 19045 as build 19045 has from build 10586. Changes similar to what we would see in Windows prereleases back in the day. What exactly is Windows 10? I don't even know anymore!

I really need help with this one as I've run out of ideas to try! All of the troubleshooting that I've tried has just led me down dead ends with various errors along the way. I have an HTPC / media server running a regular installation of Windows 10 on a Samsung 4TB 870 EVO SATA SSD (2 years old) and the PC froze on the lock screen to which I rebooted it, and haven't been able to get into Windows since. The SSD shows in the BIOS storage configuration, and also shows partitions and volumes when I boot the PC from a Windows PE USB stick, but does not show in the boot order. I've tried various troubleshooting methods including bootrec.exe, bcdboot, bcdedit, to no avail. Following one of the troubleshooting steps, I opened a file explorer window from Windows PE and the drive shows up, however, it does not show the storage bar, and does not allow me to access it at all, so it looks like I don't have read permission? 2 years ago I had a similar experience with the same computer with Windows on a ADATA M.2 SSD, but I could access it, but it was locked into read-only mode as it seemed to have died - don't know if this fate has occurred to me again or if it's something different. I would like to hook up the SSD to another system to see if I can diagnose it but I don't have the appropriate connections / alt. desktop with me. Any / all help is greatly appreciated!

Hi, if I choose the upgrade option on WIN 10 installer will it keep my settings and apps like mail and outlook accounts, emails, calendars. I do not have gmail and such so that's why I am asking. And in the calendar app I have pretty crucial informations that I have been writing for more than 4 years. Another question, where can I find my windows calendar and mail files ? Where does Windows store it? And if i can find it somewhere and save it, can I load calendar data into calendar or mail or outlook again? Thanks.

Most of the time when I try to install a big game, I get the error that says my unarc.dll file is missing or corrupted. What do you know, the file is indeed missing, along with IsDone.dll from both system32 and SysWOW64. I have tried downloading the current versions and reinstalling them by running the cmd (admin) command regsvr32 %systemroot%\system32\unarc.dll and the same with SysWOW64 but it throws the same "The module "unarc.dll" was loaded but the entry point DllRegisterServer was not found. Make sure that "unarc.dll" is a valid DLL or OCX file and then try again." error message. Reading after it, that shouldn't work if the file is missing and so I tried using DISM and sfc instead. It came back saying it has fixed the errors but after a pc restart the exact same unarc.dll error shows up. As a last resort I reinstalled windows from the ISO image file and the error message still persists. I am truly at a loss at this point and any help is appreciated!

I noticed that if I right click on any file on my W10 PC and click Properties, the Accessed time/date changes to whatever the current date/time is. Why is this? What good is trying to check when a file was last accessed if every time you check it, it's just going to change to whatever the current date/time is? I'm going to check on another PC when I get a chance to see if it's maybe just something with my PC, unless someone can confirm this is how W10 is now, or maybe has always been.

Hello and I need your help This started last year around August I believe after a Windows 10 update that SOMETIMES/Randomly my computer would not shut down / restart. It go to the shutdown/restart screen and keeps on looping but never shutting down no matter how long i wait. until I hit the reset button and shutting it down with success afterwards. The thing is I hate doing it and I have search and tried everything from disabling fast startup, power plans edit, update drivers or more windows updates, virus scans, uplugged usb connections, sfc/scannow, DISM, closing all programs via task manager, added AutoEndTask to registry. Still this happens and sometimes it happens if my pc were to slow down or have trouble opening a program. Running windows 10, no desire to upgrade to 11. Been reading about the fTPM stutter, I don't think I've noticed it but I want to disable fTPM as a precaution. I have a 5800X3D and an Asus strix B550A Mobo. It doesn't have a dedicated TPM Header. Board was built in March 2023 and is using the bios version it shipped with (2806) I guess I'm asking if it's safe for me to just go into bios when I get home and disable fTPM. Will it mess anything up on my PC? Is it a real security risk for me going forward?

As the title says. Was watching a movie when all of a sudden my PC bluescreened. Initially, it was stuck in a blue screen loop where it said “Just collecting some information”, then would restart, and return to the same screen, going in a loop. After forcefully shutting down a few times, eventually it progressed to its current state. Now when the PC is turned on (after the BIOS screen) you are greeted to a black screen with a windows logo and the text “Preparing Automatic Repair”. The issue here is that it freezes at this screen, and doesn’t actually repair. All of the online tutorials don’t work since they all require to actually boot into windows and fix it from there (but it never actually gets past this automatic repair screen, so nothing can be done). I’ve updated my BIOS to the latest version, as well as tried booting from a Windows Installation Media from a USB drive, but the BIOS update didn’t fix anything, and when I select to boot from the USB, once I then try to boot my display is just black and nothing actually happens. Anyone encountered this before and have a solution, or to offer an idea for a solution? I feel like I’ve tried everything to no avail.

The Problem Been having this problem for a while, and it varies, which is incredibly annoying. File explorer, when freezing/crashing, can not be restarted with Task Manager. Whenever I right click on the task and click restart, file explorer closes and does not re open. I am unable to re open the program using run, nor am I able to use windows+e, or command prompt, or powershell. The only way I can get File Explorer to re-open is either by restarting my machine, or logging out of and back into my account. The cause of the crash varies; oftentimes, however, it's things like: Right clicking on files, internal drives & network drives Creating new files Renaming files (This doesn't happen every time I try and perform these operations) I also have to restart File Explorer every time I boot my computer up. My taskbar doesn't populate until I've unlocked all my drives (which are encrypted with Bitlocker). Often enough, Task Manager doesn't relaunch File Explorer. Steps I've Taken Ran SFC /Scannow multiple times. Fixed corruptions the first time, found no more on repeated attempts. Ran DISM (CleanupImage, ScanHealth, RestoreHealth) Re installed Windows. (This was a while ago now, however the problem existed before and still exists after the re install) Ran multiple virus & malware scans, all clean. Would appreciate some help, if anyone's able to.

I have this issue with my pc that my peripherals stop working randomly. Whenever im using the computer, everything is just working fine until i see some stutters/lags in the mouse cursor, (it started happening out of nowhere and totally random) mouse cursor jitters for a second or two and then becomes normal if you are lucky(other devices like keyboard and headphones also stop working for a moment) Otherwise if not so lucky, all the devices would just stop working, the headphones make a sound similar to a broken speaker and in the end i have to just hard power off the computer. Happens in a totally random pattern. *The pc seems to be working fine when the devices stop working, it occurred to me when gaming and the game world was rendering just fine and everything seemed like just the devices have been disconnected from the computer. **Nothing happens if i disconnect and reconnect the usb cables. I don't know what it is, seems like a driver of some sort but cant figure it out. Looked up multiple forums and articles but got nothing. Anyone else who encountered similar issue, any help would be appreciated.***I have attached a video that shows what is the current situation cuz my explanation skills kinda suck. Video (Bruh youtube killed the video quality)

Hi everyone, I hope you're fine Recently I noticed that my pc take too much time to load windows, here's a video to show you what I mean. This is weird because I upgraded to a Samsung 980 Pro 2TO (the newer version, without that bug thing), copy and paste speeds are amazing in windows. I disabled all the unnecessary apps on start up. Fast Startup is also disabled. I also tried to disconnect every peripheral but nothing changed. I also checked for boot order and it was my Samsung. Here's my config: CPU: Amd 3950x Mobo: Asus Tuf x570 gaming GPU: MSI 4090 Gaming Trio NVME: Samsung Pro 980 2TO PSU: MPG A1000G Sound card: FocUSrite Scarlett Solo 3Rd Gen From what you're seeing in the video, what could it be? We can agree that the bios loads fast but loading windows is slow right? Thanks! IMG_1570.MOV

Me and my brother did build a new computer for him. I was really happy he finally got a good computer for himself. Sadly the new build is having issues and bluescreens once every 3 days. I am trying to locate the issue, but didn't have any succes soo far. BUILD: MSI Pro B650-P WIFI AMD Ryzen 6 7600 XFX Speedster MERC 319 AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT CORE G. After thorough searching, I've determined that I've got unique nonsense going on. So, making a new computer, and had the following issue, which I have spent several groups of hours troubleshooting. The issue is this: I install Windows 10 with the installation key (6+ year old USB key, if that's important), and it works. I can use it just as normal, even including resetting the computer. If I shut it off and turn it on again, however, I am unable to boot to Windows again, having to go into BIOS, or perform the installation process again (to clarify, I secure cleaned the two drives I used for this before installation, it's not a Windows Onion in there). I'm very much out of ideas; Start-Up Repair from the installation media doesn't do anything, different boot modes and default settings in BIOS (mainly XMP and Core Enhancement, and Fast Boot options, none of which have done anything), a new motherboard has the exact same issues (I really hope I haven't got two duds in a row), trying different configurations of plugging and unplugging drives and SSDs to check for conflicts, etc., etc., and I have no idea what exactly is going wrong. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated, all my searching has found is threads where someone found a solution in something I have already tried. I desperately want to have a good computer again.

Sorry everyone reading this for my bad Grammar, Punctuation, missed slept words. I wanted to start off by saying I first intended this Post not as just for Windows because I wanted it to go into the windows Forum Part and than as I was typing More I wanted it to be more of how I can easily get my Information also how to do things with other software os a more general thing I can Learn or do and any Ideas and how to things IDK if it should be a simple how to be better at learning about PCs or if it should be how to essentially work smarter and ease ways about Learning any topic and Computers ID if In overthinking this or what!!! Hi everyone. I feel really stuck on How to use Windows 10 and many other windows operating systems and even go from Windows to Linux and trying different distros of Linux. and Learning how to get to a cretin place in windows and how to Learn what a setting/settings or a function does what without me forgetting things do to my mental disability its really hard to remember anything now that's not trying to get down on myself or anything like that I just have a really hard time and I don’t what it to seem I just want sympathy or for people to feel sorry for me however computers are my passion and I got my first PC in 2009 and over time I have a hard time and how can I have a very stable windows 10 PC without wipe reload of Windows 10 so often however that's not to say that I will never encounter Windows problems at all with that said I have come a very Long way with windows in general Like how to completely remove a downloaded software when using Revo Uninstaller Pro, how to back up my system and how to do restore points just to name a few things I noticed how much I know and how very little I know about PCs and I know where all hear to help out each other and that's great However what my quested is what are some things I can do or whats a safe place I can go to that shows me a tone of stuff with windows or how can I have a big or Huge checklist of what I need to do after installing windows and things I need to be aware of so my system can be less vulnerable or how to look up YouTube shorts to know how to understand how to turn on or off a future in windows just to name somethings I can do so I don’t get upset or have to go through a 10 minute video or even a 1 hour video IDK if I'm coming across to you guys what I'm also trying to say is I don’t want to stress myself out and find easier ways to do things and learning new things and I know this is a very vague question and I know its a long winded question and I know it doesn't have any Grammar or or punctuations in it anyways I will leave you with that for now thank you so much for helping me in advanced.
