Hi. So I've been using these sites to compare Cpus and Gpus: https://www.cpubenchmark.net/ https://www.videocardbenchmark.net/ They're just so convenient and nicely organized for me. Other sites I've tried, not so much. Sometimes, if I'm watching a youtube video, they'll say this cpu is better than this one. I check it on the above sites and yeah, the faster cpu has a bigger single thread score. Which benchmark sites have reliable trustworthy data? What makes them reliable? Thanks

Hi sorry to bother you guys I am trying to set up a website with the gpt 3 ai model and I had purchased a very nice template from a develper but it was a "you troubleshoot it after I finish the foundations for you" kinda thing and so i was wondering if anyone knows where i can go to find developers to tweek the code for me and possibly turn it into a docker container for me so that i may run it on my home server for work use. Any and all advice on a platform where I can pay a few different developers to help me out it would be greatly appreciated.

Does Linus only have a deal with Squarespace when he says a video is sponsored by them, or is the affiliate link always a thing? I need to move the website I made off of my school's server before June.

Hello, I wish to get search results of a specific product from different websites and display them in my website when a user search for them. And when a user clicks on a result, I want them to be redirected to the website the product came from. Before I do this I would like to know if I should write to these other website owners and get their permission but I'm also wondering if this is necessary because I would be directing the user to their website anyway. Whats your view on this? Thanks.

I want to post a website and decided to host it myself, I'm okay with the server hardware config purchase and static connection from ISP. But i couldn'd find a way to the entire process of setting up firewall, router and configure it up from linux and after installing apache2. Hoping for help. Thanks.

Calling all Floatplane fans and writers! I have created a stub article for Floatplane. I put as much information as I could, but I need more citations and much more information. The article is located here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Floatplane_(Website) EDIT: The Wikipedia moderator that flagged it for deletion turned the page into a Draft, which was the only alternative to being deleted. The draft is located here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Floatplane_(Website) Items most notably needed: We need a "credible indication" of the importance or significance of the website. Wikipedia requires this for all articles, otherwise they are deleted quickly. Their criteria for speedy deletion is: "an article about a website, blog, web forum, webcomic, podcast, browser game, or similar web content that does not credibly indicate the importance or significance of the subject." Floatplane logo. Logos cannot be added to Wikipedia unless they are public domain or if the authors have permission to use them. Better explanation of the subscription model History of development; when it became a company, when Luke started work on the website and when they hired full-time developers Features — e.g. high bitrate video, community posting, etc., and citations for those advertised features More information in the info card (Most of these items can be found on YouTube's wiki info fard; e.g. Type of business, type of site, date founded, headquarters(?), area served, founder(s), key people, industry, launch date, and "written in" (prog. languages) Source for info about the company Floatplane Media Inc. I'm not a writer, but I did my absolute best to get this page started. Now I'm leaving it for all of you! Please reply to this thread with any comments or additions, so that we can get some good momentum going for writing out Floatplane's article. Thank you for your help!

Hi, I'm a student studying CS. Someone I know asked me to build a website for their non-profit with the ".org" domain for collecting donations. I'm not experienced at web dev and I fear I won't make it in time to build their website. I've seen Wix, Webnode, Jimdo site, and some others, all requiring membership a paywall for the ".org" domain. And Even If I bought a domain separately, which I aim to do, to use the custom domain with the website builder, it requires me to buy membership first. Is there something similar or some other website builder that doesn't need a membership for the ".org" domain for using domains? Thanks Also, I'm a newb, be kind pls.

Hi all, So here's the deal, and hope I won't get too much hate for this. I am looking for a software that can be easily configured to block certain websites in a PC laboratory environment. Short backstory: I want to have the Internet on and available during normal classes. However, during tests, students cheat. By their own admission. And they don't even do it because the test is too hard, they admitedly just do it for the thrills of "fooling the system". This is not to their best advantage. I also do not want to cut all Internet access during tests as this would be absurd. Being a programming test, they should be able to look for and find solutions on the Internet, just like in the real world. However, I would like to block social network and instant messaging apps where they can quickly exchange files and answers. I am aware of the hosts file solution, I have even written a batch file which automatically adds entries to it, however this does not seem to always work for some sites (it blocks Facebook, for example, but GMail somehow still gets through). So I am looking maybe for a firewall type solution which could be easily enabled/disabled and would do the trick. I'd like to add that I'm not trying to be mean: the blocking request also came from several students who feel disturbed by the cheating attitude of some of their colleagues. Thank you all in advance!

I've recently wanted to start a website and I've been looking at web hosting. I'm new to this side of tech. So I pretty much have no clue what I should or should get. Theres a ton of options out there about web hosting. I have a few questions that I hope some of you may be able to answer or to help steer me in the right direction. 1. Pro's and con's of either getting a normal server that hosts my website or getting a virtual private server for it. Can you use a vps to host a website? Any major differences? 2. Recommendations on where I could look for hosting? Trying to get the best bang for my buck and honestly dont know how much traffic will end up on the website. 3. When server hosting company's write Unlimited traffic, whats the "catch" that they impose? Or do some not have any tricks up their sleeves? 4. How much do the specs of the server matter? I know that how clean and efficient your code can greatly impact the performance. But any way to actually know how well it could run? Would there a way for me to vm test it or something? 5. Are there any other options that I might be missing for web hosting?

website Trying to make a User Input (HTML/CSS)
OffSideTech posted a topic in Programs, Apps and Websites
I'm making a local server for my house and I'm using HTML and CSS to create it. This server hosts movies, music, etc. A home baked file server. I need to make a user prompt that asks what the user want's on the site and then log the answer to a file.\ I've tried to use Java to make a simple drop down prompt with: prompt("What would you like to see on this site?"); but I have no idea how to save the input to a file. -
Hey! For a school project we had to create our own webpage. Really crappy, but I wanted to make it look fancier by giving it a domain for itself. I happened to find a really cheap offer about a Hosting + Domain for only 1.99€/year. I instantly bought it without thinking if that's what I needed, and since I have no idea about how to setup real webpages, here I am. (Let's be honest here, who hasn't bought stuff you don't need at all just because it's cheap as hell?) Here's the offer I found: https://www.cowabi.com/?&1486658013 To be clear: I don't want to use anything like WordPress or Drupal. I just want to upload a bunch of html files so that when I go to my domain the index file shows up. I don't want any blog or anything professional. I did download FileZilla and I uploaded all my html files to the server, but I didn't manage for it to work. Something to do with the DNS. http://imgur.com/dz8j3y1 (Yes, I do indeed have a crazy imagination when it comes to inventing website names)

Hello, I want to make a small website for a hobby ecommerce "business". I considered eBay, but I've had issues with PayPal and their ID stuff... chargebacks etc. I looked at shopify, and square space to build my "business"/hobby. I would perfer to not have to send my ID, I don't feel comfortable doing so. Does anybody know a website for me? I just need to be able to accept credit/debit etc. As it's a hobby, I expect to be selling around $500 worth of scarves per month at the most. Thank you for your help! I wasn't sure where to post this, so admin please move it if needed.

I think it would be quite cool and helpful to implement a dark mode on the website for people in dark rooms or have eye problems or just if they prefer a different color, even if its as simple as inverting the background and header colors? Thanks. -Scrub EDIT: IM JUST STUPID - SORRY GUYS

Okay I need to use ProFreeHost to host a website for college. Though in CPanel, everything seems fine when uploaded, then when I check the site online; the HTML & Images seem to load, but for some reason doesn't seem to display the CSS or connect to the other pages, only my index page. I will provide screenshots of the files, code & what it displays online. (Note everything works perfectly locally). (Also note this is my first online site and never used CPanel before) The video tutorials I've seen a pretty bad & CPanels are different. http://sunshineparkfarm.ezyro.com/ Cafe.html Contact Us.html Farm.html index.html stylesheet.css Images.zip
