So a few weeks ago, I set up project cars to work on the HTC vive with a "patch"called libreVR. Never was a big fan of its implementation. A few days ago, an update through Steam, gave native support for the vive. So far the old libreVR setup keeps popping up. Anybody, know of a clean way to remove it other than uninstall/delete the whole game file? Anyone have any experience with libreVR

So I have a Rift preordered but after reading so much about the Vive I'm kind of on the fence. For anyone that currently owns a Rift or a Vive can you give me your thoughts on it so far? I don't see myself using the room scale stuff a whole lot, which is why I opted for the Rift in the first place. With that said, I think the Vive room scale would be great for when I have friends over. I think most of the time I will be using it from a seated position with the goal to get a more immersive experience than a traditional monitor. Cost is not an issue and if I get Rift I will likely get the Oculus Touch once they are out. I can't really justify buying both although that is a possibility as I have a theater room and a spare gaming rig I could setup the Vive in. So what are your thoughts/experiences with the two major VR platforms so far?

Greetings, I'm a long-time LTT/LMG fan, and yet here I am just creating a forum account to post a request for a future LTT video topic. Feel free to crucify me if this is being posted in the wrong place. I received my HTC Vive a week ago, and my computer is currently in my dungeon of a bedroom in the basement of a townhouse. I was wondering if it was even possible to run one of Corning's Thunderbolt cables to a Thunderbolt dock on a different floor and have the Vive connected to just that dock. I think Asus's Thunderbolt support card can send Displayport from the Thunderbolt connection back into a discrete graphics card, though I'm not sure how much this impact's the Vive's latency. Obviously this would be quite expensive for an average joe to just test out, but it might be the solution I'm looking for. I just want to know if it would actually work without compromising the experience. Thanks!

Where do you see the controls of VR kits going next? What do you think needs to be the next big thing that makes VR that much more amazing? In my opinion the next feature that VR needs is to let users move their character. Somehow. The vive is already destroying the oculus (no hate plz) becuase of its ability to let you move around. Imagine a game where you have the accuracy and versatility of movement that many VR games offer. But you can move around from one spot. The way I see this happening is through some sort of half way measure. A kind of directional control pad on the hand held sticks. (sortof like console thumbsticks). This simplification of movement IMO would be fine because of what it would allow the game devs/ any one else to do with VR. What is the next big improvement for VR in your opinion?

Heya guys, have some questions about the new HTC VIVE. Mainly, how do I use it off of steam for things like non steam VR indie games, or like star citizen? Or even just to use it on steam games that are not VR optimized? I have seen some people able to run things like battlefield (I know that is not steam, but close enough)

Hey and hallo fellow nerds! I`m sure i`m not the only one that recently has seen this video. Such an awsome idea. and the amount of immersion this would add to the Sim games is just to damn good! I did tho realise, as i watched the video. that this was only what we, the audiance would be seeing (atleast with this tecnuiq) and i started to think. I`ve bin seeing people with the dk1 and dk2 having put some kind of camera or tracker in the front (have had no idea what it actually did). Wich got me thinking about another peace of teknology. The new Webcam that Razer has launched. and its features. if they could be integrated with some tinkering or even at a later VR headset version. Man, wouldent that rock! (and work)? as i understood the way the Stargazer works, it only shows stuff within a pre determened range? not sure. but thinking about that the Vive allready has a camera on it. that they would be adding cameras to the upcoming versions. But yeah, i`m sure theres someone out there with a bit more knowlege of how the Stargazer works. And if it would possebly work at all, for people with scripting and coding skills to add it as an game overlay (if it would be mountable to the front of the cv1 at all). searched for this today and didn`t find anything, so i thougt i`d throw the idea out there! what are your thougts?

Recently while surfing YouTube I came across the channel Anton Hand and his wonderful work in SteamVR using Unity. https://www.youtube.com/user/TheRustyFist/videos Of particular interest is where he's going with guns and shooting based game play. If I understand correctly these objects and guns perform realistically because all the parts inside are real and move according to the physics in the environment. Here's an amazing video of work on an AR15: Let me know what you all think, because I think it's great and it's got me excited for VR like nothing else has.

source: http://forum.projectcarsgame.com/showthread.php?43740-Oculus-Rift-CV1-Discussion&p=1260029&viewfull=1#post1260029 the game director for Project Cars, Stephen Viljoen, had this to say when talking about incompatibility between the STEAM and Oculus stores STEAM is pretty much hardware agnostic (VR) and will let you access it with any HMD other than HTC Vive; whereas, Oculus Sore works exclusively with the Rift so, if two friends have one Rift and one Vive they can start a versus match on STEAM, but they can't do so with a Oculus store game and this is how "console wars" made it to the PC ... what a shame as time passes, the rift will grow as developers will be forced to support a single platform via exclusive deals or just financial reasons due to their prices, owning both HMD systems is out of the question for a lot of people and they probably will settle with the most "open" one and this will create yet another problem, since the player base will be so small and divided, most developers won't even develop a VR game ps: if I recall right, SONY have stated that "Morpheus" would work (some day) on PC - that's another point for STEAM

hey guys, just wondering how you all feel about the OSVR. I have the money to buy one but don't know what i should. what is your take on it compared to the other ones. any input is appreciated. http://www.razerzone.com/store/osvr-hdk#

For those who want to try out the HTC Vive, well now you can, as HTC is demoing their Vive at select Microsoft stores and Gamestop in US and Canada. Their first 3 places to have the HTC Vive demo will be at Microsoft stores It will have a total of 30 stores setup by the end of the year. For Gamestop, they should have about 10 demos by mid-April, but didn't specify the total number they're planning to setup. http://www.tomshardware.com/news/htc-vive-store-vr-demo,31566.html

Hi. I'm interested in getting a Vive (I don't have the money right now but I will get one). However, my Gaming PC that I built last year is practically just incompatible (look at my profile for details). I'm in a bind as to whether I should just upgrade the CPU to an i7-4790K but in order to OC it I'd have to get a new MoBo and I'm not sure if I should just upgrade to Skylake then (I'll probably wait for the next generation) because I'll need a new MoBo to take full advantage of OC with the 4790K but yeah. I'll also need to upgrade my GPUbut that'll be easy, I'll probably get a 390, making the switchto AMD. It'll be a while but I thought I'd get your guys' opinions. Thanks, Alpha.

Does anyone have some recommendations as to what games to get to start off with VR in? Or what games are good to demo the technology to friends? I'm looking for easier to pick up things that I can use with a Vive that are worth the money, especially aimed towards those of you who have a Vive unit. What are you playing now, what was an interesting experience, but not something that you'll come home and play, and what is something that you look to play coming home from work? Are there any review channels or sites that you actually trust about these types of recommendations? Steam reviews are nice, but I'm not sure how much I want to take of that on faith. I'll edit this or reply and add on my thoughts about what games I find myself coming back to once I get my unit.

source: http://venturebeat.com/2016/02/20/htc-vive-opens-for-preorder-on-february-29-ships-on-april-1/ they should release it on April 1st, the price will be a joke anyways for shits and giggles, let's make a pool: how much do you think VIVE will go for? FaceBook already set the tone on how to wrongly price VR I'm quite curious how many VR units, Rift + Vive, will ship this year --- update http://blog.htcvive.com/2016/02/unveiling-the-vive-consumer-edition-and-pre-order-information/ directly from HTC, the price is 799 800$ --- update: UK price is 689£ and 899€ for the Eurozone http://blog.htcvive.com/us/2016/02/international-pricing-for-vive-pre-order/ note: sales tax included

source: http://store.steampowered.com/app/323910/ via: http://www.kitguru.net/desktop-pc/gaming-rig/matthew-wilson/valve-launches-steamvr-portal-performance-test-demo/ I ran the test on my rusty old Q9550 with a GTX970 and amazingly, it's VR ready so yeah ,, this test is absolutely flawed - unless ValvE will "force" every VR title launched on their platform to use the Source(2) engine ps: to run the test on a multi-GPU system, add -multigpu to the command line

According to UploadVR.com the HTC Vive is priced at $799 and will ship in early April. It will feature a slightly improved and refined design and will allow you to answer your phone. Preorders starting February 29th. UploadVR: The Verge: Preorders will be available starting Febrary 29th in the following countries: Sources: http://uploadvr.com/htc-vive-is-799/ http://www.theverge.com/2016/2/21/11081462/htc-vive-consumer-edition-price-release-date-mwc-2016 It also lets you answer calls while in VR, though I'm not sure this is a very requested or important feature. I honestly thought it would be more expensive, but this remains an early adopter product. One thing to note is that while the Oculus is $200 cheaper, it doesn't come with the touch controllers so I guess in the end the two products will be somewhat priced the same. Thoughts on the pricing? Edit: Added bits from The Verge article (+ link).

Oculus Rift Amazon: http://geni.us/1YKD Oculus Pre-order: http://geni.us/1waP HTC Vive Amazon: http://geni.us/2ZRY (Not yet available - more info to come soon) VR headsets have come a long way in a very short time. Isn't it about time we get a VR sub forum here now that VR is a big deal again?

I have a lot of cash lying around... I am thinking about ordering the Oculus Rift. I am in no rush, so I may wait for the Vive. I really have no clue on which on to go for. Currently leaning towards Oculus Rift. Guidance is appreciated. Thanks - Covert.

source: http://www.androidauthority.com/htc-vice-price-667174/ --- so, there you have it folks .. the VR's short existence only thing left is for SONY to come up with a price tag that doesn't scream 1000+$ at these price points, coupled with the fact that you need quite the beastly PC to run it, VR's mass adoption won't happen anytime soon it will see niche use in some non-gameristic fields, medical, military .. but as a gaming aimed peripheral, it's rather D.O.A.

Seriously did I miss something? The WAN Show before CES they asked what people wanted to see and it was monitors and VR. Sure there was a bit of monitor content, but there was only ONE VR video and it wasn't even from a VR headset. It seems like the videos from CES are all up, but they missed a ton of stuff that i would have liked to see.
