Hello! Having finally decided to upgrade to an ssd, I came accross some nice offers on amazon uk (http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=ssd&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3Assd).%C2'> I was looking to get a 250gb drive, and as the title suggests the 840 evo and Crucial mx100 have a good reputation, my qustion is is there one that is clearly better to get then the other? I know very little about ssd's and only do gaming, nothing much else. Thanks in advance.

So I'm looking at a laptop for uni and have narrowed my choices down to 2. The Lenovo ThinkPad B5400 and The Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E545 Not too bothered about keyboard or speakers, but a half decent screen would be good. I don't really game enough to worry about graphics performance so I'm open to Intel or AMD. The most demanding thing I can see this doing is a bit of photoshop. I've got an SSD to put in it too so hard drive size/speed can be ignored. £450 is the top end of my budget. So my questions are: Are either of the above laptops any good? Are there any others in the price range which I should also have a look at? Thanks in advance

Hello LTT forum, how are you? Good to hear. I'm new but figured I'd start asking around here for something I've been sort of looking into but have had sort of a hard time going by (seeing as how every manufacturer is going to say they have what I'm looking for, anyway). So, the short of it is that I'm looking for a solid pair of headphones for music production. I'm not producing stuff that goes on local radio and gets a few thousand views on YouTube, but I'd like to, and one of the biggest problems I've run in to is that a mix that sounds okay on my headphones will sound like cruddy playing through different speakers and headphones. It probably has to do with the headphones and headset I use. One of them is a "gaming" headset that really lacks a decent bass response (so when I use those, I tend to end up with a bit too much low-end), and the other doesn't have a long enough cable (I need a long cable in order to keep it out of the way of my arms and the guitar while I'm playing), and too much bass (so I play it on speakers and the bottom end is just gone). I also do a fair amount of gaming, but I don't mind if the headphones/headset aren't "optimized for gaming" or whatever the gaming headset adverts always say. Basically, I'm looking for something with a really flat response, with good clarity. Over-ear is preferred but on or in-ear are okay, too. I don't need anything super loud that doesn't distort even though it's putting out the same decibels as a detonating nuclear bomb on my shoulder, either. My budget is flexible. It seems like a lot of the most popular options on Sweetwater range from ~$60 to ~$150, so that seems like it might be a sweet-spot for value. So far, I've been looking into Sennheiser's HD 280 PRO (I've heard good things about Sennheiser as a really solid, transparent headphone manufacturer), and Direct Sound's EX-29 headphones (because Paul Gilbert advertises them and who am I to question Paul Gilbert?). Do you guys have any other suggestions as to what kind of headphones I should be looking in to or I might want to keep in mind while I'm looking?

Hey guys! DISCLAIMER: I don't say my suggestions are perfect, they should help you to find a starting point. I've noticed there are quite some people on the forums, who are asking for some system suggestions for a set price point. So I've put together gaming systems for the different price points above, to help some people out. All systems exclude an operating system and are also configured in a matching colour scheme! I will post the link to the build and add a small description to it. All systems are aimed to get the most out of your Games! Accessories are not included, like additional case fans. Sidenote: I didn't include the discounts into my calculation, since they might change any time. If you are lucky you will get these systems cheaper than the set budget! Sidenote 2: Data from January 29th 2014. Sidenote 3: You might want to exchange some cases, if you don't like them. Just make sure, your case fits all the hardware! Sidenote 4: I only used nvidia cards, because at the moment you get more for your money over on the green side, due to the high prices of AMD cards at the moment. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 500$ Build: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/3ICtx This build is capable of up to medium settings for current generation titles at 1080p! Also it can be overclocked to achieve a smoother performance in Games! This build features a microATX mainboard, since it is way cheaper than a usual ATX build! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 750$ Build: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2Jdfz Slightly over 750$, but worth it! This build is capable of up to high settings for current generation titles at 1080p! This build also is overclockable! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1000$ Build: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2JeBF This build is capable of high-ultra settings for current generation titles at 1080p! You will be able to get some decent overclocks with this config! This build finally features an SSD! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1250$ Build: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/Pt4H8d This build is easily capable of ultra settings for current generation titles at 1080p! Nice overclocks on this one too! Unfortunately it wasn't enough for a 250GB SSD Slightly over 1250$, but again definetly worth it! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1500$ Build: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/PfRrYJ This build isn't very different from the 1250$ build, but has some neat tweaks to it. It finally features a 250GB SSD Expect some badass overclocks with this config, with the h100i and the 750W PSU! 1080p ultra with ease, especially when overclocked! Added a 1866 Mhz RAM stick instead of 1600Mhz, since this build is aimed at overclocking and high clockspeeds. Slightly over budget again unfortunately. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2000$ Build: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2nMzFT Featuring the 4790k and the 780 Ti! Expect kickin' ass performance and overclocking potential to the absolute maximum! Play any title maxed out at 1080p! With the 4770k and 16GB you will be able not only to game like a king, but also do tasks like rendering easily! Slightly over the budget again though. You might want to step up and buy some additional case fans. Since you spent 2k on a rig, I'm sure you can afford some small case fans, too! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I will edit these builds for optimization and price variation as best as i can. Any feedback would be highly appreciated!

Here's the deal: Im looking for a way to have good mic quality, good sound quality and exellent comfort(mainly for gaming, skype and music) for relativley cheap. Ive been using gaming headsets like the Steelseries siberia V2 (wich broke on me) and the logitech G430 (very uncomftrable) I think its time to get a new setup, maybe even get a standalone microphone. Ideas and recommendations based on personal experience would be very appreciated.

I've been attempting to upgrade the Sapphire Radeon HD 6870 in my brother's computer since....November 2013 (?). Then the swarm of Miners arrived. Welp, I see one of the locals here is selling their HD 7950. The particular one they have is a MSi Twin Frozr III HD 7950 Boost. Here it is on MSi's website: http://www.msi.com/product/vga/R7950-TF-3GD5-OC-BE.html The card is basically in perfect condition, and he still has the original box and packaging...I'm asking if they still have all the included accessories and paperwork now. EDIT: Seller still has all the included accessories, paperwork, manuals, and driver disk. I need the forum's FANTASTIC guesimtations!! As the card is second-hand, how much should it cost in your opinion?

All in my Pc cost around £650. I recently got PcMark11 and wanted to see if anyone could beat my score, but there is a catch when I say value, I don't mean cheap, I mean a balanced price to performance ratio. (I know these tests are synthetic, but, meh.) I paid around £650 (new) for my pc and got a score of 7685. Come at me bro. http://www.3dmark.com/3dm11/7686725

I'm looking to grab a new video-card(s) to game at 5,760 x 1,080 on, I'm looking to not spend any more than $550, and I am willing to wait until late January or early Fen If I need to for the crypto boom to die down on the AMD side. Also I wouldn't want to be cpu bound so I'm interested on your opinions on weather I'm going to be CPU limited (I5 3570k @ 4.7). If you think I will be what in your opinion would make a more appropriately video card for my rig? Other factors: Mantel: looks like it could be very good: preferred but not a necessity. Gsync: Not interested in getting new monitors at this time: Non factor. VRam: I'm thinking I will want to keep the eye-candy on high and at this resolution; I dont think 2Gb would cut it :3GB minimum Crossfire or SLI: Very willing to invest in an SLI or Crossfire setup as opposed to a single card.:Will consider Card sound and heat : If I go AMD I wont be going reference cooler I also game with a headset : Non Issue Current Build: CPU: I5 3570K @4.7 CPU Cooling: Antec Kuhler 620 w/Push&Pull fans Ram: 32 Corsair Vengence 1600 CL9 Motherboard: Asrock Z77 Extreme 4 PSU: 850W Thermaltake SP-850M SSD: OCZ 120GB Agility 4 HDD: 2x WD 2TB Caviar black (no raid) Current GPU: 5770 in Crossfire @925 Core; 1225 Memory. Thanks in advanced for your suggestions and comments.

So i dont know how comfortable anyone of you is with saying how much your steam account is worth but it gives an idea on how much we spend on games. i found a site http://alabasterslim.com/worth.php you just put your steam ID and if your profile is public it will pull all the games you have the date bought and add the price and give you a total in the end. So what is your steam account worth? ( maybe this might make some think about how strong there password really is (( both for steam and the email used to set up the account))

While the R9 290X's dominance over the Titan is questionable, it sure is faster than it's main competitor, the 780. And at 550$, it is a bargain. Now, when one compares the specs sheet of the 290 to the 290X, and the fact that the 290 will be priced at about 400 to 450$ when released, I think the 290 is the real bargain of this year's graphics cards. Thoughts?

i have been looking for new headphones for a long time now and have only came across two that meet my requirements (the v-moda crossfade m 100 and beyerdynamic custom one pro) the custom one pro are not as expensive as the m-100s but don't look that great (yes i know they are costumisable) and they don't fold. but the v-moda crosfade m-100s are the most perfect headphones for me but they cost a LOT so i created this thread to find great headphones that aren't too expensive. hopefully some might find this thread helpful especially those who have the same requirements as me. requirements: foldable, detachable cable, sound signature that fits great with edm (bass heavy), comfortable, durable. side requirements: good looking, case included and let's try to keep it under 350$ at the moment i am using a pair of razer electras (great value) with an asus xonar dg soundcard.

What is the best GPU for under £100, my estimated system is in the signature, I would like to play most game on atleast medium but im not sure if my price range will allow that. People have suggested a 7770 or a 7750. If you could give me any advice it will be greatly apreciated. Your resident noob, Brit *Edit Im not bothered on whether it's Nvidia or AMD.

Hi, I was looking at buying a new laptop mainly for casual use, but I want to be able to use it for gaming and light productivity tasks when my desktop computer is not available. Saying this I'm still in school so I don't have much money to spend, and i was going to get the computer built to order by pcspecialist.co.uk The difference between the Cpus is £79 (around $135 USD), and it's between an i5 4210M and the i7 4710MQ. I will post the full specs of the computer below, I plan on upgrading the RAM in the future and adding an additional storage drive. (Don't hate on me about battery life etc or the performance of the components below, I have assessed the rest myself and established that they will work for me in this use case and budget) How much difference would you say is there between these CPU's baring in mind that the i5 is just hyper threaded whereas the i7 is true quad core?
