Hello! I'm in the market for a new monitor with higher res than 1080p. Since I'm buying a lot of stuff, I looked for a cheap used display and found this 4k monitor with a problem. Is this monitor most likely permanently damaged from being dropped on the floor, or is it possibly a bad internal connection? Any suggestions?

Hello, So i need a new gpu. I found a guy selling used 1080TI that was used for mining 24/7 from January 2018 he also says he hasn't overclocked it. He put out a price for 500 euros, but i am scared that the 1080ti wouldn't last for long (my opinion). So should i buy it or get 100 euros more and get a brand new 1080?

Hi everyone! I recently bought a used GTX 1080 ti that will be put in my new build. Since it will take a while to save up for an i7 8700k, an sdd, and ram, I can’t quite test it on anything else but my old rig that has an AMD FX-6350. Due to the CPU bottlenecking, I can’t tell if the decrease in its performance is due to a worn out GPU or the bottlenecking of the system. I ran games such as Fortnite and Pubg. I got around 40fps with random stuttering with all setting turned to epic in Fortnite, and I got around 60fps with frequent little stutters in Pubg will all settings ultra and vsync, motion blur, and sharpen on. I got a 3dMark score of 6562 with stuff like discord running in the background, but nothing too intense. If anyone has any information on telling if I got a pooped out GPU, that would be much appreciated. I also uploaded an image of one of the tests I did as well. Cheers!

Hi everyone. I have been presented with the opportunity to purchase a used 1070 ti (MSI Titanium Edition) for $275 from a friend of mine. I'm currently using a 1060 3gb in my system and while I've found that it is fine for most games I've noticed it runs consistently above 80C under load while doing so and also I am looking into upgrading to a 1440p monitor, and believe a gpu upgrade would be in order. My question is this: Is a 1070 ti (matching my color scheme from a reputable brand) for $275 a worthwhile investment? Or should I wait and see what happens with some of the lower end 20 series cards supposedly coming out? All opinions appreciated.

Budget : around 3000kr (around 300 dollars) Country: Sweden Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Esports titles and maybe more. My old budget pc’s motherboard recently broke (can’t output audio) but the rest of the pc still works fine Processor: Intel I7 3930k Motherboard:P9x79 Pro Gpu:R9 270 2gb Ram: Kingston 16gb ddr3 (not sure what model) PSU: Corsair CX500M Storage: Intel SSD 320 Series 160GB Cpu cooler: Noctua NH-U9DX 1366 37.8 CFM And a pretty basic antec office case. So i’ve come down to two options, either sell the components or use the PSU, GPU, Cpu cooler and maybe storage to start off a new build and sell it as a budget gaming pc. I would have liked to be able to use the processor but it’s really hard to find a decent motherboard with LGA 2011 socket that doesn’t cost a fortune. The easiest case would have been if I find a used motherboard for my processor and ram, so I can then just put all my existing hardware in it and then sell it. What should i do?

So, I'm looking at buying a used PC and I currently have 2 choices. 1st PC: Intel core i5-4460 CPU 3.20 GHz 8gb Kingston RAM Nvidia GeForce GTX 960 1TB HDD and a Samsung SSD (not specified) 2nd PC: 4 Core 8 Thread Intel Xeon 1240 Sandy Bridge WS 3.7GHz MAX Frequency RAM 32GB DDR 3 Adata 4x8 GPU 2x Saphire Radeon R9 270x 2GB Dual X - Crossfire configuration SSD WDS240G Western Digital 256 The 2nd one is 50$ more expencive and comes with a keyboard, 2 monitors, and even a desk if you so decire. The problem here is that I'm not too familiar with Xeon processors and GPUs in Crossfire. All I know is that the parts in the 2nd PC are older and the GPUs are worse than the 960 on their own, but are they better than the 960 in Crossfire? Will my electricity bill skyrocket with the 2nd PC? Thank You!

Hello, With all the news on new gpus and such I am looking to upgrade from my r9 270x. I have 3 1080p monitors but only game on one of them and like to play games at 144fps to suit my monitor. What would be a used GPU that would be able to play most games in the next few years at this target frame rate? I have a i9 9900k, 32gb of ram and a 2tb nvme ssd. Gaming is not the main reason I have this pc and is more of a afterthought, hence the old GPU. Thanks, Clean

About a year ago I picked up an i7 6700K and an ASUS Pro Gaming Z170 motherboard off a friend for $110. Seeing how expensive these components sell for used ($250-$300) is it worth selling them and upgrading to something like a Ryzen 9 3900x? I’m considering doing a build with 1080 Tis in SLI and I don’t want the processor to bottleneck them.

I got a used Rx 470 (4gb sapphire nitro (not nitro+)), turns on fine, fans on, can't feel any heat, but no signal. works fine without the card, tried cleaning and updating (mobo) bios, still a problem. possibly an examiner as only 1 hdmi which I adapted to DVI (natively supported). solutions?

They're the same price, I can get 3 years of warranty if I go with 1660S, no warrranty on the 1070ti. My usage would be for gaming, livestreaming, video editing, photo editing, and 3d modelling with blender

Budget (including currency): About 100 000 HUF (about 325 USD) Country: Hungary Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Mostly would be used for home NAS, maybe some easier tasks, like media server. Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I have all the necessary periferials, and etc. (including an 1600*900 VGA display) I also have an Asus GT 610 2GB Silent gpu.(I think for the display it will be more than enough) I also have a really old 230W psu, but I think that should be upgraded. I was thinking about only getting a few TB storage, maybe 1-2 because mostly *legally obtained* movies/installers/etc. would be stored on it. I'm thinking about getting it in a few weeks. I don't have any problems with getting used hardware. I think only my HDD should be new. I'm fine with the LGA 775/771 sockets too. Maybe would it be a good idea to get a dual socket lga 771 board, and 2 older xeon cpus, with lots of ram, so I could expand the storage if I'll need more in the future? I'd also need a case, if it doesn't fit into a really old normal ATX house (without any cable management holes). Thank you for your help in advance!

Hi, So my name is Ollie and I'm 14, soon to be 15 on the 15th of august. Basically, in short, i got a job in February and built myself a PC with a Ryzen 7 3700x and a 2070s and 16gb of RAM at the start of lockdown in the UK. I was looking at Oculus Rifts for my birthday and they are way too expensive for the budget that my birthday will allow me! So i hopped onto eBay and was surprised to see all these rifts called "CV1" for sale for around the £150+ mark! These seem really good value to a VR noob like me that knows NOTHING about VR. Now i have been told that they can have a whole ton of issues that you can't just see from photos on eBay. Also is there some sought of a problem with the CV1 unit because there are loads for sale even with controllers. I will leave a link to one of the many eBay listings so you can see for yourselves what I'm talking about: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Oculus-Rift-Virtual-Reality-Headset-With-Two-Sensors-And-Two-Touch-Controlers/143677769496?epid=831392616&hash=item2173dcc718:g:91oAAOSwcQNfLsTS Now I'm not very experienced with VR at all so feel free to call me an idiot in the comments below if i am saying completely the wrong stuff. This is just what i understand at the moment: For VR you need obviously a PC, a Headset, Controllers and these sought of camera things that get your location? So how many of the camera things do i need for good tracking? (Sorry for the long post!) So these are all my questions: Will my PC run VR decently demanding VR games? 2. Should i buy secondhand, if so what am i checking for to make sure the unit is fine? 3. What headset do you recommend to buy secondhand? 4. What are the advantages of a "new" Rift s over older models? (I don't mind saving longer for a new one be honest!) 5. How much space in my room do i need for the vast majority of games? 6. Does VR have a good game library, is it worth it? (I don't mind different genres except for really scary horror) 7. Is there going to be a new rift soon, Should i wait a couple of months for the newer model? 8. What is the average VR game price? 9. What extra things do i need to get up and running? (camera's, controllers?) (A new Rift s comes with controllers but what about the camera things) In England, I will be having examinations at around the late spring next year so i won't be able to use it much before then so i really don't mind waiting until summer 2021 will a new model be out by then? Again I don't know how frequently they come out so maybe a new one will be out by then? Finally, if anyone replies to this, I would like to say a massive thank you to you as I am clearly incompetent and really need help in my understanding of this product category. This is my first time on the forum so if I have done ANYTHING wrong do not hesitate to tell me off! Many thanks once again, Ollie

Hello I am starting my bachelor's degree in physics and technology next week, and I'm looking for a laptop to replace my aging Surface Pro 4. I've been looking at the Surface Laptop 2 and the Surface Laptop 3, but I can't decide which one to go for. I've found a refurbished Laptop 2 for $1050, and I can get a Laptop 3, in the colorway I actually really want, for $1300. Both is the same spec: i5, 8 GB RAM, and 256 GB SSD. Is it worth going for the Laptop 3. Does it really perform that mich better as Microsoft says IT does? (Bear in mind, I live in Denmark, so prices are significantly higher than the US)

Hi, I was wondering if it is recommended to buy second hand RAM. A friend was offering to sell some G.SKILL Trident Z RGB sticks and I wondered if there is any risk buying second hand? Thanks

I am looking to buy a 2080ti used. I am getting a good deal, and the gentleman seems honest. He has accommodated all of my requests for different photos and this is through Facebook Marketplace. He has been a facebook member since 2008, and lists some personal information on his profile. However, I have been very nervous about getting a card used and being duped by the seller. Is there something that someone knows of that can distinguish this card physically from the other ROG Strix models? I have video of him showing me the card and then the GPUz Screen as well as System info in Windows. I also asked him to send me a picture of the HWinfo screen capture. Is there something that I can request a picture or info of that only the Ti model will have on it? Is there a serial number I can look up? When we are meeting, I won't have the chance to see it installed until I get it home. We are meeting halfway between our houses because we don't live close to each other. I know there is an LED button on the backplate, but looks like all the 2080 strix models have. Does anyone have any tips for me that can verify that i am not getting something different than what I am expecting? EDIT: I am just worried about getting a 2080 super or 2080 strix, I know the physical difference between 1080ti and all of the other strix models.

Hello professionals. Right now I need to test if my motherboard powers on with other PSUs. I didn't feel like purchasing new power supply just to see if my motherboard works so I found someone on Facebook who gave away his 2 power supplies that he doesn't know if they even work. Both power supplies don't have 4/4+2 connectors for my graphics card and I don't really care about that because all I need is to make sure my motherboard powers on i.e. SYS_FAN and CPU_FAN spin. Here's first power supply. It doesn't have I/O back switch but it's not a big deal: Here's a second more sexier power supply: Here's how it looks from behind: I am going to use paperclip to turn each power supply on. Seeing their fans work, I am going to test their 24-pin cables for nominal voltages. Should I also test 4-pin CPU cord? Now on serious note, how high is risk for these power supplies to damage motherboard? My system specs: CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600X Motherboard: Gigabyte B450 Aorus Elite GPU: EVGA GeForce RTX 2060 RAM: 2x8GB Corsair Vengeance LPX 3200MHz Original Power Supply: Corsair TX650M

I'm looking for a GTX 1080 Ti FE, specifically on eBay. The main thing I look for is the seller's star count, and ask them if It was used for mining. If the seller says it has been used to mine crypto, is there anything I should ask or is it an automatic no deal? Is there anyway for the seller to prove it hasn't been used for mining?

I know someone selling a used iPhone 7 128Gb for $200 USD, that sounds like a good deal, but I don't really know anything about the used smartphone market, should I do it?

I work at a small non-for profit company and we need to upgrade the memory in some of our ddr3 systems. Specifically, I'm looking for used 16 2gb DIMMs and 8 4gb DIMMs. Looking around on ebay, people are selling that quantity for hundreds of dollars. I also checked craigslist and the local recycling center and found nothing. Anyone know if it's possible to find any for cheaper?

Venturing into the world of privately sold used computer parts for the first time (specifically cpu, mobo, ram.) And am wondering if there's any seasoned vets out there that would have any advice for me to help me not get ripped off.
