Hello Fellow LTT Members, I recently acquired Elite: Dangerous as a gift from a friend. I wanted to know of any good sources for getting started. I am doing some research and have found a webisode from this youtuber AdoredTV:https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCHXbDmbswY3xNOmzr5O3zgA I noticed Star Citizen had it's own page and thought to myself, "wow, I am hyped for SC as well, but did everyone just overlook this game entirely?". If you play and aren't too far in the game and want to meet up in space some day feel free to message here or PM me or anyone else who follows. Just be careful not to give out any personal information that can lead to any misfortune. Cheers B)

I have a Samsung 850 EVO 250GB, and according to Windows, I have 70.4 gb free. If I select all the files on the drive to see how much space it takes up, it only says 40.5GB. I should have 191.5GB free. Why does it say only 70.4? Is it actually that much free? Or is this just some sort of error? This machine was a Christmas present; so it's less than a month old. I know I haven't used 162GB of space.

What better way to get people to take Mars colonization seriously than to tell them they could have their Netflix, Facebook and porn on the martian surface? I applaud his lofty goals and his need to push things further than anyone else before him, it will only benefit us in the long run. Now, if he could just go ahead and make terrestrial satellite internet fast and not entirely useless that would be great. https://www.theverge.com/2015/1/16/7569333/elon-musk-wants-to-spend-10-billion-building-the-internet-in-space

So, I really don't know why, but for some random reason Windows seems to think that there is no LAN driver installed on my desktop, when I just downloaded them from my laptop (what I'm using right now) and then transferred it over to it via an external HDD and installed that, but still nothing. So I really don't know what's up, I've been having some problems with my internet connection, with Windows just deciding to not connect, and then I'd have to reset the adapter, but it would never finish, so I would have to restart, then troubleshoot again, then restart, then troubleshoot AGAIN, then finally restarts another time, then boom, it'd work. And it's not as if I missed something, it was working beforehand, only only just when I turned my PC on about an hour ago did I find this out. I've getting increasingly pissed of at my PC, even with a change of motherboard, re-install of Win7, use of an SSD and new GPU, there are STILL problems galore. If anyone knows what's up, and how I would go about fixing this I'd greatly appreciate it. Cheers!

Dear mother of god. This is looney. This is wonderful. I don't know where exactly you could use this, even in phones, given its price tag. But thats still a healthy amount of space to have for anything. Maybe a years time from now, they will drop by 75% and then make sense to shove into basically anything. I would LOVE to shove one of these into a laptop as discrete, portable storage. Think...those ultrabooks with a SD slot. You can get very low profile SD cards and adapters, so this would be neat for that kind of use. Not at 400 dollar though. Thats just a ridiculous early adopter price. But its nice to see them around all the same. http://gizmodo.com/sandisk-squeezes-200gb-into-a-tiny-microsd-card-1688307827 http://gizmodo.com/sandisk-has-the-first-flash-drive-with-a-reversible-usb-1688533182

This is more to help all those people out there thinking "how much hardware could i actually fit in that thing?" After doing my final upgrade to my newest system to my system this case has absolutely no room left. So if your wondering how much shit you can cram in this case, here you go. Most of this stuff is in my signature or in my BIO somewhere. Gigabyte Full ATX Board\ AMD FX 9590 Corsair 4x4 16gb RAM kit 2 ssds 1 hdd (not even in a tray- sits on bottom of case  ) 2 crossfire graphics cards 6 static pressure fans 1 360 triple rad D5 PWM pump 170mm Reservoir XSPC Water Block About 4 feet of tubing Custom Cable Extensions Included fan controller modular power supply (2 molex cables,2 sata cables,1cpu,1 main 12 pin, 2 6pin, 2 8 pin,) Various LEDs and Lighting Everything hooked up (I cut no corners, not even on that stupid USB 3 connector) With all that installed there is NO room left. I Think i could fit in a wireless card if i ever needed one but that it.

So this seems like a simple issue but I can't seem to find a solution anywhere and no one seems to be able to shed much light on the situation. I want to back up my computer to an internal hard drive, the hard drive is 1TB so should be big enough to fit most of my data I think. When I set up the backup in Windows it tells me that a drive of 1.1TB is recommended, when I proceed the backup fails no matter how many times I try it. It comes up with an error saying: A shadow copy could not be created. Please check "VSS" and "SPP" application event logs for more information. Details: Insufficient storage available to create either the shadow copy storage file or other shadow copy data. Even if I only try and back up my C: drive which is only 34GB I still get this error which leads me to believe it isn't a drive capacity error. I have read that it could be an issue with the system reserved file size on my C: drive. If anyone has any idea what the problem could be please help. If not then could anyone recommend a good third party backup software? Thanks in advance

Hi guys, I recently built a new computer, and installed a WD green 4TB HDD in it. When I first started up the PC, I saw that the HDD wasn't showing up at My Computer. Did a little searching, and found that I had to go to Disk Management to "allocate" the space. When i tried to do that though, there was a popup that said something about master boot records, and I had to choose one half of the HDD for it. At this point of time I had no idea what a master boot record is. Right now the MBR is using 1678gb of my hard drive, which I can't use for anything else because it is still not detected on My Computer. How do i reduce the amount of space it uses? and what is the required amount of space for it? Thank you!

So I'm building a PC and I came across a little doubt I'm not sure how ti solve. So I'm buying the NZXT Phantom 410 Mid Tower case, but I'm also getting a big gpu ( Asus Strix Series). The case is 8.45 inches wide, while the card is 6 inches wide. Would this fit in the case ? Would another part of the computer take up the 2.45 inches the case has over the gpu ?

So I started yesterday to play this nice game... But I've a little problem to go to the Mun. First: NO, IT'S NOTHING ABOUT THE ROCKET! The damn controls. I'm too slow for them, I'm trying to make a circular orbit to escape to the Mun, but I'm such a turtle that when I try to move the rocket I'm 400 Km away :C (well, you know, at that distance is a waste of fuel...). I've tried some guides... but I suck at the controls. Also I can't even try "add maneuver" option as I don't know how it works... every time I try to use it, it ends into a potato orbit and gone too far... Even tried at 75 m/s :,(... Don't even ask me about adjusting orbits x.x If after reading this you still want me to try a new rocket...

I think this is a fairly neat way to reduce the apparent size of the OS and strip away things that you probably don't need since there are more efficient implementations. I do think that compression is a big gamble, given how taxing it might be on your system especially if you run into it on a constant basis, not all computers are superpower beasts that can just crush every single task in no time, but lets see how it gets implemented and then judge. http://hothardware.com/News/windows-10-reclaims-disk-space-by-deleting-recovery-image-and-employing-file-compression?google_editors_picks=true

If you own a mechanical keyboard, chances are that you can flip your spacebar. Do it. It offers a more ergonomic feel while typing and especially while gaming. Once you try it, you'll never go back. Carefully remove your spacebar, flip it around, and put it back on. EDIT:

Hey all, I have a few of these parts on the way and own most of the others: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/p9bkzy I'm just at the point where I'm unsure of what mini-itx case to go with for a slick little rig I can bring other places. Budget is up to $120.00. If there is a case that you simply get more for less money than some other ones, feel free to share! I've narrowed it down to a few here so far: Corsair 250D Antec ISK600 Fractal Node 304 Cooler Master Elite 130

I'm planning on buying an SSD for my first build and installing whatever future games I might have on it, so I'd just like to survey on how much memory do you guys use for gaming? so that I can decide how much memory I'll get for my SSD (since the difference in prices per size is large)

I recently noticed that my 128GB SSD is filling up really quickly, but it shouldn't be. Under "Computer" it says that I have 30.4 of 119 GB free. After adding up all the folders, I should have 72 GB free. Where did those other 42 GB go? Thank you for any help. I'm just really worried. (Quick background- I just built this desktop at the end of August, so I'm still new to all of this) Thank again!

Hello! I recently re-activated my EVE Online account as I finally think I am in a place where I will have the time and willpower to take on the game. I have an account with around 3 million SP, all focused in mining. I know I heard a while back that you were able to re apply your skill points once a year or something like that? If so I wouldn't mind re-rolling that character into a PVP character, otherwise I can always start up an alt. However for any of this to really work I will need some friends and mentors to help me along, as this game can be very daunting from someone with fresh eyes. I am currently in a Retriever using this loadout. However as I said I am interested in switching to a PVP focus as I presume I will have more fun with the game going that route. I don't know how large the EVE community is over here, so I wont go into much detail about myself just yet, however if some of you are interested let me know and I can whip something up. Thanks!

Space Farming. Yes, You heard that right..Pretty weird news actually, Apparently Elon Musk Private company firm SpaceX is looking for their very own farmer. The Job requirements & responsibilities include controlling budgets, getting equipment and supplies, and performing “practical farm activities”. They will be based in Texas. SpaceX requires that its farmer conforms with US International Traffic in Arms Regulations Elon Musk The job is wildly different from the rest of the currently advertised roles This is basically their most unique job opportunity they've put up for their private firm Post your thoughts & rants in the comments below.. http://www.theverge.com/2014/11/10/7190057/nasa-leases-moffett-airfield-to-google-60-years Google has sealed a deal to lease NASA's Moffett Airfield for the next 60 years after beginning negotiations for the land back in February. Under terms of the agreement, Google will pay NASA an estimated $1.16 billion in rent over the life of the agreement, with addition funds going toward the restoration of a more than 80-year-old hangar, known as Hangar One, that sits on the property. Google may use Hangar One, as well as two sequentially named hangars on the airfield, as a space for research, development, assembly, and testing of technology related to robotics, aviation, space exploration, and other new fields once it moves in....
