I been helping my mom choosing a phone for her to pick with her mobile plan and can't for the life of me decipher Samsung's naming scheme. Samsung Galaxy (Letter)(Number) With basic googling I found out the what the Letters mean, S: flagship, C: cut down flagship, A: mid-range, J: entry level Numbers thought are a bit confusing, especially with the Pro or + suffix muddying up it even more... Looking at specs it's exactly not step by step up from number to number from what I can see, with only resolution being the most clear upgrade from number to number. Is there a quick way of knowing a phone's place with not looking a speadsheets or phone sites every so often?

So I had this problem with my Chinese phone. It's permanently locked until I receive a message that I can no longer receive as the phone number I used to register is no longer available. There's no other way to finish the Phone initial setup without that message and I can't receive it. Thankfully though, some Chinese bloatware allowed me to access the webbrowser from whee I installed Aptoide and later on a Launcher to be able to use the phone, and found out that opening and then closing Discord somehow glitches the setup past the Code Verification part 1 time out of 10 per say. The problem with this is if I'll ever need to format this Device again I might not be able to bypass the Verification Step, so I figured I'd install a custom ROM. The problem is that the device has a Custom Recovery menu since the latest update kicked in. I have no idea how to remove it since I never found myself in this situation before. It only allows me to Update the Device (blocks any Unofficial ROM and older version of the current ROM) and to restart it. Notes: - There's no known way to Root this device, last time I tried I killed it permanently ad had to request a replacement. - The Device model is LeEco le2 pro x620 and is currently running a Custom version of Android 6.0. - Google Apps refuse to work even after Installing all the required Frameworks and Google Services, this is also why I want to flash in a Custom ROM.

Samsung's latest phone is the Galaxy J2 Pro, which the South Korean manufacturer claims is "faithful to basic functions" supporting use for voice calling, SMS and camera however blocking use of 3G, 4G or WiFi. Samsung are targeting the device at students with an offline dictionary app preinstalled and "senior users who are sensitive to data charges". It will be priced at around $185 where it's sold in black and gold colours. Hey guys, am considering buying either the xiaomi mi 5 3gb ram or mi aa 4gb ram, both are amazing phones i know, in my country there is a flash sale for mi 5 so its cheaper than a1 by about 40 bucks now, I am torn between the 5.5 inch display, audio dac and stock android vs the ex flagship processor, fast charging and better build quality, what do you guys think? I don't play much games, my usage is mainly media consumption, chatting, social media, and web browsing. I do a lot of multitasking switching between apps.

Long story short, I'm part of both a photography and media group in my university and I've been contemplating a gimbal for a long time (a smartphone gimbal as my phone records higher resolution video than my a6000, even though the latter should be better at handling light) But the initial $299 price of DJI's Osmo Mobile 1 was a bit of a turn off. However, the new Osmo's price tag makes it compelling. Here's the dillema. It won't arrive until March and over here, it'll be closer to the $159 mark. Meanwhile, I've been looking at the Zhiyun Smooth Q, another gimbal similar to the Osmo 2 but at $100 (and less with coupons). What would you suggest?

So, I need to change my Over-The-Top smartphone (Deca Core 2.3GHz - 4GB RAM - 1080P IPS Display - Heli x20) becaus eof a stupid Burn In problem which causes burn in to occur in well... Let's say that 10 seconds on Whatsapp are enough to burn part of the conversation in the screen. Since I'm not planning to game on my smartphone at ALL (I'll only use Whatsapp to text and messenger, not much else), I want to go for a cheap one (Possibly of a Popular Brand) and I'd like it to have USB Type C (Since Micro USB ports A L W A Y S end up breaking, I lost almost all of my previous smartphones because of this issue as well as my mother's) and possibly support for a more recent version of Android. I never take pictures or selfies so camera doesn't matter, also 2GB of RAM should be good. I don't have a budget but I guess 200EUR would be a good price. Certified refurbished would be good as well as long as it works.

So, I decided to format my Phone to Factory Settings a few days ago. After the format was over, the device booted to a Setup Wizard Screen. I followed all the Steps when I encountered this issue: I had to unbind my current account (it's a Chinese phone from a brand called "LeEco" and they have this service that backs up pictures and other stuff) that I created using a friend's phone number because the service wasn't supported in my country but only in China, India, US and other countries. Now, the password is lost so I thought I could reset it, but it wouldn't let me do it from my phone unless the Setup Wizard was completed, and I couldn't do that until I unbinded my account. I tried to reset it from their website but it's broken (US Website, Chinese website, account system just doesn't work) . I managed to Glitch out of the setup by clicking "Options>About>Website" on their Chinese keyboard app, which gave me access to the WebBrowser where I downloaded a Launcher from Aptoide. (Functions like Task Manager, Home Button and notifications don't work though, which is very annoying, and I can not enable developer options by clicking the Build Number like I used to) but I could access to the Account Recovery. So I contacted my friend who told me that he dropped that phone number and no longer has access to it, so he wouldn't be able to receive the recovery message. I tried to boot the device in Recovery mode, but I found myself in a custom Recovery Menu with the following options: "Format, Update, Cancel, Reboot.) Now, Update functions doesn't work even if I load one of their ROMs, and other options are pretty useless. I really don't know how to gain access to my phone now, I see no way out of this. I emailed their support but in 3 days got no answer, and their contact form on the website won't work. Is there any other way to flash a ROM (Device is not rooted). If not, another way to enable developer options so I can enable USB debugging or anything? I'm stuck. This is the worst situation I've been in after that time I tried to format a Tablet that was in a BootLoop and did not have volume keys to move in the recovery menu.

Before the year of 2017, Samsung had been demonstrating to consumers what could be an edge-to-edge display, and delivering so to a given extent to those who chose their devices. Then, in 2017 Apple finally introduced the iPhone X, which brought an utter change from the iconic, traditional iPhone design that had only faced small tweaks throughout the years dating from its original launch. Then in the past years... bezel-less phones have had a flood into the market, and present wherever you may look. When Apple introduced the iPhone X, an incredibly large number of people complained about the so popular notch, and to this day vigorously wish that it was not present... Such response makes me wonder about something... once Apple ceases to make use of the notch, as underneath the display camera technologies are being developed, and evolving as You read... what sort of era in the smartphone design are we going to be living in, I wonder. If you position the new iPhones side by side with other bezel-less phones... due to its notch, you are able to immediately tell that you are looking at an iPhone and not some other random smartphone... all because of the so despised notch... Once Apple finally manages to remove it, based on the past perspective we can assume that the pattern will repeat itself; other phone manufacturers will have already done so entirely. And then, everyone will be carrying around a squared - or rounded, smartphone that is only distinguishable if you look at the back of the device... which is mostly covered by the user's hands... I believe that Apple perpetuated the iconic-design of the iPhone, and only chose to stop it because of the need to do so by the pressure being imposed against others with their alluring concept of a bezel-less device, rather than actually wishing to do so. I am not sure how do You feel about this upcoming reality, but I feel highly uncomfortable. The traditional, iconic-design is, to my eyes, the most elegant, representative, and beautiful iPhone design that there is. It is a very unpopular opinion, however it is a fact that... that design tells us a story, while the ''bezel-less'' only tells us a need to compete, and catch up with a personality-less smartphone era.

Details about the Pixel and Pixel XL, have been published by several retailers ahead of their official unveiling tomorrow. " The most revealing leak comes from Carphone Warehouse. The British retailer put up, and quickly removed, product listings for the Pixel and Pixel XL. Original Article from ArsTechnica: Snapchat announces camera-sporting sunglasses, coming this fall for $129 Yes, Snapchat glasses. Apple didn't beat them to it. That report is available here. Oh, and they plan to change the company's name to Snap, Inc. And apparently it'll take us some adjustment before we are accustomed to seeing people with Snap glasses in public; can't be worse than those new AirPods by Apple. But then laws will come in about public, personal, and private space, when and where you can't use Snap glasses, etc; Why relevant and important; maybe we will see these things go public soon. Ohhhhhh boy....

Hello! So, I'm in need of a new smartphone, as my current one, a Samsung Xcover 2, is outpaced by a snail on a good day. More specifically, I need a fairly cheap (max ~$400), relatively fast android phone. I hardly use the camera, and don't wear my phone as a fashion piece, so looks aren't much of a factor either. Thing is, I've never bought a smartphone before. I got my current one as a gift, and all my previous phones have been old Nokias, so I don't really know where to start looking. That being said, don't refrain from going in detail! I know my way around tech, and want to learn. Any help is much appreciated, thanks in advance! It's my first time here, be gentle...

I've recently learned of the function of Google's Project Fi network and I'm very impressed by their business model. However, their restriction to using only Nexus devices doesn't make any sense to me from a technical standpoint. They claim that only the Nexus devices are capable of supporting the carrier frequencies that comprise the network (T-Moble/Sprint). However, if you look at the Nexus's supported LTE/CDMA bands, there are many other phones that support the same range of frequencies. This leaves me with the lingering question, is Google simply refusing to support other phones in order to force people to buy their device for 'their' network?

The minefield of the overly-competitive smartphone market is proving too difficult even for an industry giant like Microsoft. Despite the billions thrown into promoting and developing the WIndows Phone platform, the market response is unapologetically rejective to the offerings from the company... and then some. Source from TechnoBuffalo I don't know much about TPM. However, based what the article said about it, forcing manufacturers to use it to increase security is a good move from Microsoft.

Being a part-time online trader and a full time business man on the move, I have always been worried about losing my phone or my information falling into the wrong hands. Not only do I have to keep my information secure, but I also need access to my online trading accounts at a moment’s notice. While I have been pretty happy with the conventional security that a 4-digit pin code offers (some phones use lock patterns), there have been times where I lost a good opportunity to make a killing on the commodities market because I was unable to access my accounts fast enough due to the security lock and pin code. I recently read that a person unlocks his devices 110 times a day, I probably unlock my phone at least twice than the average. Recently, I saw a Le 1s advertisement on Flipkart and I learnt that it had fingerprint scanning technology and I saw this as an answer to my prayers. From the little I understand and some quick google reference, I found out that fingerprint identification technology in phones had the answers to all my security concerns. Since no two finger prints are same, the automated authentication biometric of Le 1s allows just its rightful owner to access the phone. Since identification is based on the fingerprint scanner, it also removes the need to remember a password there by providing an accurate and reliable way to unlock the phone. One interesting feature of Le 1s is that the sensor comes with a 6H hardness anti-scratch mirror that allows the finger print to be read without any issues. As I tried to unlock my phone, I found the sensor enables both flash recognition and identification accuracy immediately and effectively as promised and it eliminates the need for PIN codes or patterns to be memorised. Now with quick access to my online trading and banking accounts, I can truly say that I have all information at my fingertips.

Source from Android Authority Source from Pocketnow Well, it seems that the "no headphone jack" movement is now underway. I'm personally against it because my current earphones and headphones won't work with it (unless the adapters are affordable), and having only one port would mean I won't be able to charge my device while listening to music (unless it comes with another one). Question is, how long will it take for the headphone jack to become totally obsolete?
