Looking for the laptop used in the recent LTT video about the water cooled server, the one that they used around the 10 minute mark. I'm intrigued by the aesthetics of the laptop. Hope someone can answer. Thanks!

Hello all! My name is Daniel and my PS4 Slim’s optical drive is dead. It all happened a few days ago. I was watching Da Ali G show on DVD with my PS4 Slim. While watching the second episode, the video and audio suddenly paused. At the time I thought the disc was dirty or scratched at that point and figured normal DVD playback problems. I gave it a few minutes, but no change. While the console still responded to controller input, the video would not resume. I could not hear any noises from the optical drive. I tried seeking, pressing play/pause, and fast forwarding, but no change from the paused video. Suddenly, the screen went black and the console rebooted. After logging back in, I tried reopening the DVD Player application, but was greeted with an unfamiliar error message. In short, it stated the disc was not the correct region for the console. Now, I am fully versed in the different disc regions for DVD and Bluray. This disc was region 1 only, and can play in my other DVD players around the house. I tried to eject the disc. I pushed the eject button, which gave one beep, but nothing happened. No sounds from the optical drive and my DVD did not budge. This has never happened to me before. I tried a software eject, which also did not work. In the end, I broke out the my precision set and manually ejected my DVD. After removing the disc, I powered off the PS4 Slim and turned it back on. I tried putting a PS4 game into the drive, but the system would not accept the disc. I tried placing it all the way into the slot, but the ODD would not do anything to suck it in. It behaved like it had no power at all. I pressed the eject button, and it responded with the normal quick succession of beeps that indicate the drive is empty. My next course of action was a software update. My console is running software version 7.50, and it had an update to 7.51. I tried updating the system, but I hit a snag: error code SU-42118-6. I had to plug in my controller to the console in order to navigate through the error message. I have not tried a USB update yet, as I wanted to hear from you all about what I should do next. That where it stands right now, I am stuck with a PS4 Slim Digital Edition, which has forced me to break out my PS3 Slim to play games and watch movies. I just want to fix my PS4 Slim so I can finish Red Dead Redemption 2. Some background info, this was the first time I used the console since February. I am a physical media person, so 95% of my library is physical PS4 games. I am an A+ licensed computer technician, so feel free to speak in technical jargon, I will understand ;).

rumor Rumored Specs for Apple's ARM Based MacBooks have "Leaked".
WelshDdraig posted a topic in Tech News
A user on twitter by the username of Apple Lab has apparently gotten their hands on the rumored upcoming specifications for the new MacBooks with the first generation of Apple ARM based Silicon (In their Laptop and possibly desktops line). There is no given evidence that these leaked specifcations are true, but there is also no evidence disproving them - and considering the specifications seem reasonable, I would think they might be pretty accurate. The rumored specs are for a new MacBook - Not a MacBook Pro - so like the 12" MacBook from 2016, in-fact, that's what this is expected to be like, given the expected 12" display. List of Specs taken from Apple Lab's tweet: ARM MacBook info: SoC: A14X RAM: 8GB, 16GB Storage: 256GB,512GB (SSD) Battery life: 15hr~20hr Port: single USB-C Display: 12” (Retina Display) Camera: 720p (FaceTime HD) Weight: lighter than 1Kg Price: $799 (by Apple Lab's "Source") So yes, this is basically a new 2016-type MacBook for 2020 but with Apple Silicon. A good move I think considering that is a great platform to test this on. It will be small, lightweight and not super powerful - much like the 2016 MacBook. A downside I can see is the single USB-C (No word if it is Thunderbolt, much like Apple has reportedly committed to bringing to their ARM based Macs). Article from @Mario5 in the spoiler to keep this article clean-ish (format wise) My thoughts Again, a downside I can see - if these rumored specs are to be believed, is the single USB-C (unconfirmed if Thunderbolt or not). Will it have a headphone jack? How will this compete with other options in Apple's line up - looking at the iPad Pro (even though they are running different operating systems). And if the price is to be believed, for a little more, you could get the MacBook Air (Sure it maybe a little heavier and a dual-core at base, but you get the 2 Thunderbolt 3 ports - for external expansion). Will the new MacBook have butterfly switches or the new scissor switches? I'm personally not sold on ARM as a desktop/laptop chip at the moment, but if anyone can push the industry in that direction, I'm sorry, but Apple will be the one to do that. So only time will see. Please leave your thoughts down below Sources: Source #1: Twitter (@ aaple_lab ) Source #2: Overclock3D: https://www.overclock3d.net/news/systems/specs_for_apple_s_first_apple_silicon_macbook_have_leaked/1 -
about 3 months ago I decided to turn my PC from a shitty ass nettop to a gaming rig with a Pentium gold G5600 and a gt 1030 with 8 GB DDR4/2GB GDDR5 RAM. the reason for the upgrade was that enough was enough with the planned obsolescence bullshit that companies do to make more money and a painfully slow Pentium j3710. I had to do a bit of case modding with buttons from an old tower my cousin gave me. there is the pic before the case mod. plus by the way it also has a red case fan to make it look more gamer-oriented. my youtube channel is here for my gaming vids. -link removed-

Hi peeps, I was wondering if someone is able to help me. I'm trying to get my old PS2 Slim back up and running, but I'm having some issues. I am using the 3-point sensor blocking trick, as I am using SwapMagic 3.6 (DVD). This is the current behaviour, also see the video at the bottom: 1. Push power button, turns on 2. Disc spins up, laser moves towards disc motor 2a. Sony Computer Entertainment logo/intro plays, with sound 3. Laser moves towards outer edge of disc 4. Disc keeps spinning at a low rate 4a. Black screen, does not load anymore This happens with all types of DVD/Playstation 2 discs that always used to work (both legal and illegal copies). Things I've tried: - Rearranging the sensor-blocking objects (they appear to be in the correct position, as moving it will stop the disc from spinning which means incorrect placement) - Cleaning laser lens with alcohol - Different disc rotation setting (fast vs. normal) - Different inputs and signal input cable type (RGB/RWY cables with and without adapter to SCART) - Different discs - Diagnostic mode (but that didn't do anything, not in the way it should work that is) - Trying to find similar posts/problems/topics, but none really seemed like that had the same situation It appears the gaphics part works fine, and it looks like it is probably able to read with the laser as well (laser positioning motor also looks to be working fine). I'm not getting the famous "Disc Read Error" line. Last time it properly worked was probably 8 years ago. It has been stored properly in working condition, disconnected from any power and signal cables and fairly free of dust and also has not been moved/bumped into in that time frame. I hope some of you are able to help me, or guide/link me in the right direction. I'm looking forward to playing some (at least for me) nostalgic games. Thank you in advance. Cheers, JB

I have yet another question for what to do with some of my old tech. I have a 360 slim (gears of war edition) that i've been using as a dvd player, and almost nothing else. Is there anything cool I can do with it? I have a blank 360 hard drive laying around, for if i wanna do something cool. Please let me know if you have any cool ideas. I've looked at all the websites sayong "sell it, donate, turn into media play, etc..."

I have an xbox 360 laying around that i mostly use for watching movies. I really want to turn it into an HTPC, and have a bunch of extra hard drives to do so, but I can't find out how to do it. I think I want some sort of linux running on it, but I'm not sure. I really just want an os that looks nice, and will let me watch netflix and youtube without having an xbox live account. I know I won't be able to play games, but I really just wanna set up a home theater around this machine. I don't want to get replies like "It's not worth it, just buy a cheap pc or laptop" or "The power consumption is too high for it to be worth anything". Just ideas or tutorials please. Thank you in advance.

Hi, I am used to laptop keyboards and would like to know which keyboard models I should go for as a cheap solution for a flat keyboard of high-enough quality. So far Ive seen Dell KB216 and some apple ones that are really good but unfortunately I am using windows and not Mac so I am not sure which keyboard I should go for. Specifically I want a flat keyboard similar to how laptops look, I will be gaming but that doesnt stop me form getting one since my already owned "gaming" keyboard is very uncomfortable to use, a flat keyboard with as little space between the keys as possible would be ideal, similar to the key layout of Dell KB216 keyboard and around this price range of up to 20$ and wired would be preferred. Thanks!

After a long time of consideration, I've basically narrowed my search for a decent laptop to six choices: Asus Vivobook S14 S410UN-NS74 -$800 Asus Zenbook 13 UX331UN-WS51T - $1000 Asus Zenbook Flip 14 UX461UN-DS74T - $1300 Acer Swift 3 SF314-52G-55WQ - $650 Dell XPS 13 9365 - $1050 HP Spectre x360 15-BL152NR -$1100 refurbished, $1400 new I'm stuck. I am actually mostly looking at the Asus Vivbook and the Asus Zenbook 13. For the vivobook, the price looks very good for the specs it offers. However, the zenbook is still a pretty good value and has better portability. I also heard good things about dell XPS 13 and was impressed by it when I tested it out at microcenter. As for the zenbook flip, it was a similar experience. For the acer swift 3, I saw a lot of videos about it, good reviews, saw the good value and the solid specs, and was also impressed by it at microcenter by the build quality relative to its price. Finally for the HP Spectre, as I was browsing Amazon, I instantly fell in love with it, especially the design and specs. When I tested it out in Bestbuy, I was truly impressed, but the price holds me back as it is the most expensive in the list. So the real questions are: to what extent does the thickness, weight, and size matter? to what extent does touchscreen or 2 in 1 matter, especially in the future? to what extent do processors and ram matter? for me ssd and a dedicated graphics is almost a necessity. what is the best choice out of the six? If you have any other recommendations for a laptop, I would gladly consider. Just know that I would prefer at least an i5, dedicated graphics(mx150 preferably)(Im fine with integrated if it comes to it though), thin, 8gb of ram, ssd, ips panel, decent price, and less then 14 inches(unless very impressive like hp spectre) And please not the acer aspire as I just don't like tn panels on laptops.

Hi all! I'm looking for a slim mid tower ATX case that can house my two EVGA 1070 SC in SLI and hold two 2.5" SSDs (but maybe more). I don't need any 5.25" slots. My preferred budget is under $75 (though open to under $100 if it's really good). Not entirely sure how airflow works but good airflow would be preferable. Window not entirely necessary but could be nice (I might be moving the PC though so idk if having the windows are very fragile). Thanks!

So, I'm looking to buy a slim power bank with a reasonable capacity for the size that would be able to comfortably fit in a pants pocket along with a wallet. In this case I'm talking about something around as thin or thinner than a smartphone. I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations as to which what products work best and which ones to avoid? Thanks in advance.

Hi! I'm seeking to buy a laptop which would cost around 1000€. I'm looking for a quite thin and light laptop, that I would carry every day to the University. If the laptop has a dedicated video card, which would make it suitable for some LIGHT gaming, then I would be really pleased. I have been looking at Zenbooks and Surface Pros, but I'm not totally sure. Do you guys have any ideas what I should spend my money on? Thanks!

Hi, In about a month or so I am looking to buy a laptop. Specs I'm after: 512SSD i5/i7 preferably not ultramobile 8gb ram 14inches Budget is about £1000 GBP or $1300 USD as the conversion currently is. Does anyone have any suggestions? I've had a look online but with no experience in laptop hardware I'm unsure what to get. Cheers, Nero

What are some good looking slim cases that can support high end graphics cards, and not sacrifice airflow? I want to play on my couch on my 4K tv.

Hey guys, So within the next 2 months Im selling my pc and dishing out over $2k on a new laptop. From what I've seen I was set on buying the New Razer Blade 2016 being shipped on the 18th of May, but then I started looking at other brands too. So it is currently between these 4 laptops: Asus ROG G501VW New Razer Blade 2016 (512gb ssd) MSI GS60 Ghost Pro 4k Aorus X7 v5 It is incredibly hard to pick between them.. I love Razer as they by far have the best quality builds, but the specs on the other laptops are very competitive as well... Please help me decide and put a reason with which one and why Thanks!

I'm looking for some recommendations on the best passively cooled slim graphics card. I have 7.125 inches (18.1cm) to work with in the Lenovo Thinkcenter M81 desktop that I have. I'd like to stick with a passively cooled card, but I'm open to a card that exhausts out the back. I currently have a Gigabyte GV-N210D3-1GI card in here.

Trying to find a CPU cooler for a Silverstone RVZ02 which has a cooler limit of 58mm. I'm restricted to a 92mm fan type or smaller for a few reasons. My motherboard is an EVGA Z87 Stinger and has a really tall VRM heatsink, I'm running high profile RAM and because I will be able to see inside the case for cosmetic reasons I don't want something blocking to much of my other parts. I know there is the Silverstone AR06 and Noctua NH-L9i that both fit and are capable coolers but I'd really like one that is black or black and red. The CPU is an i5 4670k. While I wont at first as I'll be testing temps in the case I'd like to try and run my current overclock of 4.2ghz @ 1.17v if possible but it's not deal breaking if the cooler won't handle it. I'd prefer something that looks appealing and fairly quiet as it will be on my desk and the only fan that will run consistently. Thanks

So after several years of being out of stock, the unique maingear Pulse 17 is back with many improvements. The Pulse 17 is one of the slimmest 17" gaming laptops on the market at 0.75" thick, competing against the MSI GS70 (0.86" thick) and Razer Blade Pro (0.88" thick). With prices starting at $2200 it is nearly identical to the equivalent spec GS70, while nearly $1k cheaper than the blade pro. For those $2.2k bucks you get a GTX970m 3GB vram, i7 6700HQ (yes that's a 4 core 8 thread i7), 16GB ram (upgradeable to 32), and a 256GB Samsung 950 pro NvME SSD (upgradeable to 512GB) With a custom automotive paint job, webcam, subwoofer, 1080p IPS display, and other features this is one of the best valued (and best looking!) slim gaming laptops. The battery life is rated at 5 hours of regular office use. browsing the internet, documents, etc... which is not outstanding, but definitely enough considering this laptop is one of the thinnest 17" notebooks in the world. Personally I am very excited that it is back, and will definitely be on my list of considerations for when I upgrade from my XPS13. HP refreshed it's Spectre lineup by giving 13 inch a OLED display and for 15 inch, it gets 4K resolution. The 13 inch OLED version has QHD (2560x1440) resolution. With better color accuracy with a broader range of shades, improved contrast, and a higher color gamut at 103 percent, a significant improvement over 72 percent on WLED displays. The 15.6 inch (display type unknown, probably IPS) has UHD (3840x2160) resolution. The 13 inch is powered with optional Intel Iris graphics and users can opt for up to 1TB of SSD storage to hold all those high resolution photos and videos. The 15.6-inch model with a 4K Ultra HD (3840x2160) touchscreen display. It too can be configured with optional Intel Iris graphics, while quad front-firing speakers custom tuned by Bang & Olufsen ensure that crisp visuals aren't ruined by poor quality audio when watching movies. Source: HOTHHardware, arstechnica. Pricing & Availability: The 15.6-inch Spectre x360 will be available on February 14 starting at $1,449, while the 13.3-inch models will ship later this year (no word yet on price).

Hey guys, I've been looking around for a nice all-round laptop for university that is blazing fast, can game, and has a nice slim look. I've resorted to reddit and other websites to see what they thought but there has been no satisfactory reply. I've been looking for a 15 inch laptop that is slim, has a nice discrete graphics card and an SSD drive. I've been looking at the MSI GS60 ghost and the new ASUS Zenbook UX501, where I would prefer the MSI if it wasn't for the game-y lighting up logo in the back. I would prefer a professional-looking laptop, and that would be no more than 1700 Dollars/1500 euros. In your opinion, what is the best all-round portable and slim laptop out there? and what would you recommend for me? Thanks!
