Now that scrapyard wars is over (at least for floatplane subscribers), i thought it might be fun to just pool some ideas together for the next scrapyard wars. Maybe linus would even use some of these ideas for the next one. My thoughts for them are to go to completely unfamiliar high population high traffic city such as NYC, Chicago, LA etc. Some place that is confusing and difficult to navigate. The contestants are given an unlimited budget but the parts must be second hand. The contestants are obly allowed a single tank of gas, or a very limited budget for public transportation. Say maybe $50 ~ 75 or something like that. For every dollar spent above the competing teams PC, points will get subtracted from that teams final score. Im also think for comedic effect the PC should be ugly. Im talking hideously disgusting. So no amount of money spent for a high end case will help at all. They will have to get creative. Obviously which ever teams pc get judged to be the ugliest will be awarded extra points. What does everyone think about that?

I apologize at the begining. I don't see a specific place in the forum to post this. I only see the recommendation for proposed Tech Quickie topics. I really enjoy the Scrapyard Wars series. I've been hooked since I saw the first one several years ago, when I began really getting into tech. One of the things I really liked, and still like about the show, is the used parts market and the interactions with people. I really like watching Linus and Luke haggle (As well as Jayz and the other guests), but I do feel like we are consistently seeing the same faces all of the time. I like when things get changed around, such as Season 4 with the Case Modding requirement. Guests on the show that we don't see all the time. So with that out of the way, I really think Bryan from Tech Yes City would be really good competition for Linus. His show is geared around the used parts hunting, and he's got a lot of good information as well as super awesome people skills. I think he might be smoother than Linus as persuading people to sell at lower prices. The heart of Scrapyard Wars is trying to find the best parts and the best prices, and I think Bryan would definitely have the advantage when it comes to negotiation and persuasion. Again, after the past couple seasons, I think we've been seeing very similar competition, and I think fresh competition with other YouTuber personalities would be great. It doesn't always have to be LEET dollar amounts, or some weird RGB fetish to change things up. At the end, its the same people competing against the same people. Linus and Luke are great to watch, but I feel like its a lot of the same old. New personalities bring fresh ideas into the competition. Bryan may not be a fan favorite, and I'm cool with that.. I still would like to see Linus and Bryan battle it out in good old Scrapyard Wars style. I've been wanting to voice my thoughts on this, but had been looking for an official thread for these suggestions. If there is one and I'm super blind, please let me know and I'll take a look. Again, I don't see a subforum for other series suggestions and ideas. If this is the wrong place, please move it to where it belongs. And if anyone else agrees or has other ideas, please share. I'm sure I'm not the only one. Thanks for your time. "Best wishes, and warmest regards," Ryujin2003

How long is there between next video in the new $1337 Gaming PC Challenge - Scrapyard Wars 6 ?

Been watching, and enjoying, the current season of SYW immensely over on Floatplane. While watching the latest episode, I had an idea - What if you do a SYW where you do no benchmarks, but rather determine the winners by actually playing? I present to you, the Masterrace LAN challenge! Each team is given a set amount of time and money to build 3 (or 5) separate systems. In the end, the winner is determined by which team's computers win the most games out of a list of popular e-sports titles, played at high resolution, with maxed details (hence the masterrace prefix). The idea is for the matches to be bottlenecked not by skill, but by performance! A few points: Building 3 or even 5 separate systems will require more time. You might want to give the competitors an extra day or two, but time should be tight, in order for the teams to be forced to take risks. Budget should be balanced such that the teams will have no feasible way of actually getting a full lineup of systems capable of good framerates. The teams should be forced to play on high-resolution monitors, to ensure high system requirements. The actual players should not be any of the system builders. They should be shoutcasting the intense games! In stead, the teams pick their players ahead of every game, alternating one at a time, with the teams taking turns getting first pick. The system builders also get to decide which player uses which system. Hopefully this will somewhat balance player skill, while allowing for some interesting strategies when parting out the systems. The teams could also be forced to get peripherals, to add another layer of fun! What do you guys think? I think it's a really interesting way to do something completely new with respect to the bencmarking. We've kind of become used to the same criterion for the past seasons.

Was thinking for a future scrapyard wars they could do a desk pc build. What do you think?

Dear Linus, I'm not the first to post this kind of message, which in all likelihood you'll never even know existed (I've never received a reply or acknowledgement from any actual heartfelt...post...to any person/channel/company/conglomerate and I'm not deluded, the chances of this reaching you yourself are equal to lottery ((even better 'like these 14 things and bend over' competition)) odds. Big fan. Again, not delusional, 1M+ views these days is fan-McEffing-tastic and I'm glad the business is looking likely to succeed. BUT (hate it, some actor said "Everything that precedes the word 'but' is horseshit") I don't even watch your content anymore as you've adopted the face reddening trend of making every clip title a crumby click bait title. I KNOW it's probably working in favour (favor) of hits/views/revenue, but I'm guessing (Ye) 'Ol Linus' promised to avoid that when it all beganified. So please, if it's not too financially damaging, go back to titles that just explain the content - rather than saying something like 'WE'VE BEEN GIVEN FIRST PREVIEW OF SOMETHING BEFORE ANYONE ELSE AS USUAL, BUT IS IT ANY GOOD...OR MAYBE IT'S PANTS FOR THE MONEY???!?!?!!?!?!!?!? WHEN IT OBVIOUSLY IS EITHER GOOD OR PANTS.....' The view from my tower is SPECTACULAR, but I am given no choice to say....you're better than that. Secondly, you having helped build my own baby over the years through advice and such, I personally think your next S.C Wars theme should be, how much/well/efficiently can you upgrade a LAPTOP for gaming...I'm after a new laptop so of course it's self indulgent, but hey, content bebay. Yours undoubtedlyunknowingly, Joseph PS. I'v asked you for a job like 5 times already, don't MAKE me ask another 200-300 times...speaking of which, how's your firewall? PPS. THAT'S NOT A THREAT AND I'M NOT A HACKER. WHAT HAPPENED TO THE DAYS WHEN YOU COULD TELL A JOKE.

1: choose a random country or allow viewers to strawpoll vote for a country 2: both teams travel to a place with in that country. Again, randomly selected or voted on 3: try to build/buy a pc Just the idea of the teams trying to find shops and communicate with sellers in Columbia or North korea! yes that would be entertaining I think my idea would be great. what do you think???

I was just thinking about the finale and the salty comments about the self proclaimed Team Imba victory plus all the influence buys, HDD swap etc. But all that aside. If I recall correctly, Linus and Luke decided not to dock Paul and Kyle the 30% for the overtime. Technically that 30% Paul and Kyle gained on the RGB factor would of been pretty much negated after the 30% reduction they would of gotten for going over the 30 minutes of over time (even longer as stated to Jay at the end). IMO I feel like Kyle and Paul did great and had a better potential system. Linus and Luke did great also, and it was very close. The final results though, would of been roughly: Team Imba: 574.65 Team RGBeast: 504.686 Thoughts? Edit: As @rn8686 pointed out RGB was a 10% boost, not 30% as I said above! Adjusted score would be: Team Imba: 574.65 Team RGBeast: 427. 042

I remember in the scrapyard wars trailer, Kyle said something about a fist fight happening. However, in the actual scrapyard wars episodes, nothing of a fist fight is ever even brought up. Was this a potential case of LMG including something in the trailers that wasn't actually there just to hype up scrapyard wars?

scrapyard wars Video idea for Scrapyard Wars season 6
ChocoMocoHD posted a topic in General Discussion
Idea: Road Trip Teams go on a road trip from city to city(or towns if that is easier) and can only buy one item from each city(or town). By the end of the trip they must have completed the build.- 9 replies

Since Linus is officially out of ideas most of us expected SE5 to be nothing special in terms of the competition and rules a lot of viewers did not get disappointed. So feel free to post some ideas on how to make this show creative again and lets hope that SE6 will be at least inspired by some of the better ideas we might come up with. Done so far: >Build a budget PC >Build a PC with DIY watercooling >Build the best value PC >Build and mod a PC >Build a budget PC ver.2.0 I didn't look up any old threads on this topic, so I'm claiming this idea as my own, if it has been posted in some of the year old threads let me know. >Scrapyard wars: free performance edition. Overclocking is a HUGE part of PC hardware culture and yet it is never addressed in depth on LTT. My idea for the next scrapyard wars would not only be fixing this, but also changing the buying pattern, which has been price/performance oriented most of the time. This means that we could even end up with very old or exotic hardware if it overclocks better. Since a lot of parts are overclockable (CPU, RAM, GPU, (+ Motherboard) which is basically the whole PC minus PSU and Hard drives) there won't be any "I'll just buy everything as cheap as I can with a well overclocking CPU and call it a day" if scored accordingly. The idea is: >points for "free" performance, meaning the Systems get benched 2 times. >Bench 1: normal settings (no cheating!) >Bench 2: everything overclocked as far as it can go >Bench 2 gets compared to 1 and this will give the system a score. The bigger the difference, the better. This is just the basic idea, you could still give points for the usual stuff (overall performance, looks, sound etc.) but I'd advise against it. If this is a stupid idea, let me know. If you have a decent idea yourself with the only rule being "address the issues with Scrapyard Wars that you feel is making it stale and predictable" please let me know.

Dear Linus and Team Techtips. First and always thank you all so much for all your creativity, Hard work, and Passion. So, I am a long time fan, first time post. I have been recently watching Scrapyard Wars which has quickly become my new love. Great job everyone by the way. And thought to myself if I could ask Linus what would it be. Well it would be, Linus I love scrapyard wars, but dont you think most of us probablly buy online or at least like to, would you consider doing a season or episode that is strickly based on buying on Amazon, or Online, or of that nature. Thank you very much for reading this and I wish you all the best. Your Friend in Arizona, USA Garrett, -Svornair.

Linus, you told such a BS story to the 980 guy (nice acting btw) and he was so nice to you I would think it would be a good idea to send him a 1080ti as a gift. You know since you guys have about 35 of them and he helped you possibly win this seasons scrapyard wars performance wise.

First of all, I know this is a very sensitive issue. So if I'm breaking any rules let me know and I will remove this post. Secondly even though I have the video saved I won't be sharing the video. Two reasons. It's not mine to share and secondly it's pretty big and will take a long time to upload where I live. I'm making this thread only because I'm really curious as to what happened. But as this is sensitive issue I'll understand if I don't get any answers. I'm attaching the screenshot only to show that I'm not bullshitting. So my questions are how did this happen? Did you guys use a public hosting service to upload the video and send it to office? Did you mistakenly send someone else the video? Did someone from the office leak the video? Did a monkey break in, copy the video and ran away with? What do you think happened? Now I'm no detective but I have watched my fair share of detective tv shows and movies. I've watched fromJeremy Brett's Sherlock Holmes to Benedict Cumberbatch's Sherlock. So just saying you know if you guys needed any help I'd be down for it. You could pay me with any gpu (I have no gpu now so anything will do) Spoiler alert:

I am constantly searching craigslist in my community and can't find anything like Linus and Luke do in Scrapyard wars. I'm curious, has anyone built a computer solely from used parts found on craigslist or Facebook marketplace. If so, are they decent PC's? I am a technology lover however I have never built a computer (even though I have followed LTT since the NCIX days). Is a scrapyard wars scenario practical to do a first time build?

does anyone know when scrapyard ward 5 comes out. if they havent filmed already i have some ideas: female test(it must be clean enough and not burn the house down)(no crackpipe cases and awful psus) hard drive stress tests(make sure the hard drives okay) audio test(minimum score or point deduction for being bellow that score or not having any) get a proper guest, not austin evens. I am board of linus winning and they need a guest who knows what he/she is doing. i think doing a 4 way competion with Linus Luke Wendell(ex tek syndicate) and Bryan(Tech City(formally tech YES city)) anyone agree? or have other suggestions will @LinusTech see this:)

An interesting idea is a battle to get the best benchmark in the smallest case possible. Scores are based on performance/liter (l*w*h, so boxes will have an advantage). The average of three consecutive benchmarks will be the score. (cooling will be important) Fixed Budget. Requires the case to be made from scratch.
