I'm currently doing a build that hase a MSI Z97s Krait edition motherboard, an i-5 4690k processor, corsair 850w power supply, all in an NXZT S340 case. I'm wondering that since the case is a mid, what kind of water cooler I should go with. The top mount only has a mount for one fan and the front has one for two. So I'm not sure if I want a 1x or 2x fan. I also want something that will look good in the case and not terrible by taking up too much real estate. I've been looking at the Corsair h100i and the Corsair h80i (one is single, the other is a double but both use Corsair Link which I really would enjoy). Any suggestions on which water cooler I should go with and why?

Check out my full post about this build to get the whole story: http://splurge-on.com/computers/1000-holiday-2015-pc-build-guide/ PCPartPicker part list: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/xRnTyc Price breakdown by merchant: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/xRnTyc/by_merchant/ CPU: Intel Core i5-6600K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor ($248.95 @ Amazon) CPU Cooler: Silverstone TD02-E 92.5 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler ($84.99 @ Newegg) Motherboard: MSI Z170A KRAIT GAMING ATX LGA1151 Motherboard ($149.99 @ Amazon) Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2400 Memory ($135.99 @ Amazon) Storage: Samsung 850 EVO-Series 500GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($168.91 @ Amazon) Video Card: MSI GeForce GTX 970 4GB Twin Frozr V Video Card ($333.98 @ Newegg) Case: NZXT S340 (Black) ATX Mid Tower Case ($68.99 @ SuperBiiz) Power Supply: EVGA SuperNOVA GS 550W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply ($69.99 @ NCIX US) Total: $1261.79 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2015-10-03 18:45 EDT-0400 This build was just to see what I could do to make something for the new Oculus Reccomended specs, which directly mention an i5-4690K, GTX 970 and 8GB RAM. I wanted to take it a bit further for complete themed PC with a great look, as well as a new Skylake i5 and 16GB of DDR4. The EVGA power supply has a common pin pattern so sleeved extensions and replacement cables are easy to come by to take the system to the next level, as well as the addition of one of the new Samsung 950 series SSDs in the empty M.2 port. What do you think about the Oculus Recommended specs? Do you think it will mean a GTX 970 being unable to perform at the highest quality to expect from VR or that the resolution and tech is perfect for it?

Amazon: http://geni.us/4Ecf NCIX: http://bit.ly/1JNTyPQ We took a look at the S340 last year, and it received our prestigious "Stuff That Doesn't Suck" award - now it has a great new look, and a few ease of use improvements...

what do you think if i put the h81m in the s340? im currently looking for a case for my h81m-p33(mATX). would it look awful? i like how this case looks, despite the lack of usb 3.0 header on the mobo. should i go for it?

As the title states, what are the best black or white CPU air coolers that will fit inside an NZXT S340 to cool an i5-6600k? It needs to be available in the UK as well. Many thanks, -Cameron

1. Budget & Location I live in Australia $3000 AUD $2100 USD Prices are relatively flexible, would prefer around this though, always happy to save money or spend if needed. $2800 CAD 2. Aim Gaming on AAA titles, bit of WoW, Definitely the new Fall Out. I want to be able to run these games above 45fps at 3440x1440. I am aiming for a black and white theme, since my monitor speakers and subwoofer are finished in gloss white. (SVS-sb100 and aktimate mini+). I will be connected these up through a usb ODAC. I don't have access to a hard wired internet connected but I do own a nighthawk r7000 AC router that is bridged to a modem. I will be overclocking, probably around 4.5ghz. I do want to SLI in the future when my performance starts to drop in games across the board, probably years down the track. I have 4x Noctua NF-P12-1300 54.4 CFM 120mm Fan from my old computer, I want to reuse these, in the case I chose i think there is only space for an exhaust in the back and top of the case, the front will house a 140mmx2 AIO cooler. 3. Monitors I already have a Dell u3415w, which runs at 3440x1440 4. Peripherals I need a keyboard, mouse and mouse pad. I am interested in: Ducky Legend Mechanical Keyboard White LED brown switches (http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=29846) Mionix Avior SK edition Gaming mouse (http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=30398) Razer Kabuto Mouse pad (http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=12980) These are included in the budget. 5. Why are you upgrading? I only have a macbook pro 13 retina that i use for university, but I want to be able to play any game that interests me at decent settings. I am also interested in building my first computer, so this will be a project for me. This is what I have come up with so far after a week of research: PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant CPU: Intel Core i5-6600K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor ($355.00 @ Umart) CPU Cooler: NZXT Kraken X61 106.1 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler ($189.00 @ CPL Online) Motherboard: MSI Z170A KRAIT GAMING ATX LGA1151 Motherboard ($269.00 @ Centre Com) Memory: Kingston FURY 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2666 Memory ($185.00 @ CPL Online) Storage: Samsung 850 EVO 500GB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive ($265.00 @ PCCaseGear) Video Card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6GB Video Card ($1089.00 @ IJK) Case: NZXT S340 (White) ATX Mid Tower Case ($109.00 @ Centre Com) Power Supply: EVGA 850W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply ($199.00 @ PCCaseGear) Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 Home OEM (64-bit) Wireless Network Adapter: Asus PCE-AC68 802.11a/b/g/n/ac PCI-Express x1 Wi-Fi Adapter ($105.00 @ CPL Online) Total: $2765.00

This is my overkill gaming build story. It all started out with my desire to SLI two 980ti’s. I couldn’t come up with a cool name like some others have. Until… I discovered the ASUS Maximus VIII Formula… then it was all over, I just had to build the most overkill gaming system, with RGB, that my wallet could handle. This motherboard is the most expensive motherboard I have ever even thought about purchasing. It was a scary purchase and I was sweating the shipping process hoping it wouldn’t arrive DOA. My hopes were answered and my motherboard showed up with no issues and installing it was a breeze. This thing is heavy! With a steel back plate, EK Hybrid VRM Cooler, and thermal armor it definitely pulls its own weight. The LED lighting system is super simple to use and looks brilliant. The UEFI is purely magnificent in customizing your build to exacting specifications. Once I purchased my two 980ti’s and the mobo, then came the impressive i7-6700k. This processor was a big upgrade from my previous FX-9370 that I was using. The improvements in IPC alone could have convinced me to spend the amount of money I did. I mean compared to almost 100% CPU usage coming from my 9370 during some gaming sessions all the way down to around 20% on the 6700k. WOW That 6700k wasn’t going to stay cool for very long without a nice cooler, instead of opting for a more budget friendly air cooler I told myself “if this is overkill right? Why not spend more money?” so I landed upon the NZXT Kraken x61 which was a perfect fit for its 280mm radiator design and RGB pump cover. But I needed to find a decent RAM kit and SSD to keep the speeds going for as long as technology allows. Which leads me to the Samsung 850 EVO 1tb and the Corsair LPX 3000mhz. Both of these units were purely purchased off biased desires for an almost all black design with minimal flash and my love for these brands. *EDIT* Found out the hard way that the Corsair LPX kit I purchased is not compatible in all 4 dimm slots on the mobo. The fix? Just throw in a 4 dimm compatible kit of Corsair Dominator Plats! None of these parts could even work together if it wasn’t for electricity. The EVGA 850W P2 is the most logical and best purchase I have ever made in my history of buying power supplies. I made sure I spent the extra money to buy EVGA’s own individually sleeved cable kit and I don’t regret it. Those cables are amazing. The power supply is super quiet, and the best part, its manufacturer is Super Flower!!! Let’s be honest here though, anyone could buy these parts and put them in a case and light it up with a few LED strips. This wasn’t going to be another one of those. Introducing the NZXT S340 Razer Edition, this case is beautifully crafted and the additions to the original make it that much better. The green lighting and the matte finish with a tinted side window is absolutely stunning in person! What’s a beautiful case and expensive parts without something to cool them all? Noctua is well known for producing high quality fans with low noise. With the only caveat being the ugly brown color scheme. Once I found out they make an Industrial model and they’re black in color, I was sold! Adding into the case three 140mm Noctua Industrial PPC 2000 rpm fans and one 120mm turned this Green Demon into The (cool) Green Demon. Thanks to the forums support i have managed my options to the phanteks pro enthoo m or the nzxt s340. I would appreciate the forums input before I buy. As far as money goes they cost almost the same in the uk so its really about features.

I'm going to buy this case and video card. i'm afraid of this card doesn't fit in the NZXT S340 Razer edition, because i saw that this card has 3 fans, which means that the card is longer itself. Thanks.

I got three question, can you mount the h240x in front of the s340? If so how? since i read that you cant place the pump res down, But if you put ithe pump res up it may hit the something in the case. Third, is it okay to have a few bubbles on if you tilt the res? Thx for the input

Hi guys. I need help choosing a case. In my country the NZXT S340 and the CM STORM SCOUT 2 are the same price. Wich one should i choose? Thanks!

Hello all, I have an R9 390 I'm generally very happy with, performance is brilliant, however it does tend to get a little hot; especially when playing Witcher 3. One issue is definitely that I keep my room a little warmer than normal however that doesn't really account for it; the temperatures are 51-54C at idle, 78-84C in-game. I've included a photo to show what I think the issue might be. I'm using a Noctua NH-C14 at the moment which sits right in the way of both exhaust fans and also blows hot air down onto the motherboard leaving the hot air from the GPU with no-where to go (see attached photo). I was wondering whether changing the cooler to a Kraken x61 might improve the situation by at least a few degrees, do you think it might help? I want to go dual card when the 390 starts to get overwhelmed but I'm not sure that is sensible with these temps! Any help would be much appreciated.

So i have ordered a Kraken x61 for my new build in my NZXT s340 case, along with some Thermelake Riing SP fans. I know that it will fit in the case with the fans toward the front of the case and radiator behind them, but i would like the radiator in the front with fans closer to the inside in a pull config, so you can see the LED lit ring on the fans from the window, If that makes since. I have done some research in how to mount the radiator in this way, but found nothing but the known "fans in front and radiator behind" with a few posts/videos stating that because of the USB, Power LED, ect ect,on the case that you can't mount the radiator in front because of the wires that are in the way. So to conclude, i need some help with getting the x61 mounted the way i like, and if anyone has any experience with this or even some ideas on how to get it in there, it would be greatly appreciated Thank you

1. This is my first post on these forums. (Yay!) 2. I'm also on pcpartpicker. (Same name) 3. https://pcpartpicker.com/b/LHtJ7P 4. I want to mod my s340. I was thinking about cutting some shapes into the front panel, unscrewing the metal from the plastic, putting a thin cloth material in between and screwing it back together. I was thinking this could help improve airflow a bit and just look better. Also, I wanted to paint my pci covers and the tips of some thumbscrews. I already know I should: 1. Measure multiple times and make sure it's right 2. Put masking tape or something over the surface I'm cutting. 3. Have a sketch of the front panel. 4. Sand what I'm painting. The reason I came here is because I want to know if there is anything else I should know before doing this. Help would be appreciated for my first mod on my first build.

This is my build right here. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/6cy73C So far, everything has been running well except for one thing. my graphics cards are over heating, most obvious thing is that my Case the NZXT S340 is just too small to handle Crossfire, especially cards that are notorious for being hot. I need help on seeing how i can lower these temps inside this case OR finding me a budget friendly case that is big enough to hold these to cards and keep them apart a bit easier for airflow.

Hi all, Thanks for taking the time to read my post. Toward the end of October I will be building my Dad a workstation/light gaming PC for his home office setup, but I am torn on what case to use, the S340 from NZXT or the Arc Midi R2 from Fractal. I've heard about the S340 being a bit less fully featured than the R2 (skimping in some areas) but I am really drawn to it's full metal construction and it seems very highly regarded. I will be air cooling (reusing an old 212 Evo) and just want to know which is the better case. The price difference is negligible so that shouldn't really be a deciding factor. Thanks guys!

So im planning on getting the NZXT S340 for my 2nd PC Build and I realized the S340 doesnt have an optical drive cartridge, and lets be honest, what else am i gonna use the drive for besides install windows. I've seen videos of installing windows on a flash drive but i dont really want to go that way unless necessary. So can i basically just take off the side panel, plug in the optical drive and power it and plug it with SATA and just put in windows and once it's finished just unplug everything. If not, are there usb optical drives, if so link me to some of them. Hope I find help.

Hey everyone! I have an question about optimal airflow in my S340. So here's my current layout: (Please excuse the crudity of this model. I didn't have time to build it to scale or paint it.) The Orange boxes are Noctua NF-A14 iPPC 2000 RPM set to intake The Yellow box is another Noctua NF-A14 set to exhaust The Cyan box is the stock 135mm fan that comes with the Be Quiet! Dark Rock 3 set to push The Blue box is the Dark Rock 3 itself The Small red box is a Cooler master Silenco FP 120 PWM set to push The Green box is a Coolermaster Seidon 120M AIO red modded to the big red box which is a Gigabyte HD 7950 (*Please do not tell me Red modding is bad idea, I've taken the risk, and I know the consequences, i'm using a shim and VRM/Ram heat sinks with active airflow) The White box is a PCI 80mm fan mount bracket (link) with 3 cheapo 80mm Sharkoon 15db fans blowing on the video card So my question is, is this the best airflow I could achieve? I've played around with flipping the Yellow Noctua to intake (making positive air pressure) but I don't really see a difference, when set to exhaust it pushes out a lot of heat during gaming. Also the white fans blowing on the the graphics card and they better blowing the other way? Thanks for any help!

Sorry for posting this old news, as this case was announced around 2 months ago (in March). But I just know about this case, and I can't find any English tech sites talked about this case (although I'm able to find one French source). And I'm sorry that nearly all the slides are in Chinese, as this case is currently only available in China.

I am building my first pc and will be ordering parts in the next few days (I hope) Any help on improvements or potential problems would be really useful. The build is for 1080p gaming (not games as intensive as crysis tho, more like payday and team fortress 2) I have a budget of 400 pounds including monitor. I dont have a gpu included as I have already ordered Asus DirectCU II r9 270. The build: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/Znf9ZL

I've got a question. So im looking at the NZXT s340 to build a computer in. its a great case and all but heres the catch. i want to use my old Coolermaster hyper 612 but its 163mm tall and NZXT states that it can only handle a 161mm tall CPU cooler.... does anyone know if NZXT is just lowballing it or is legitimately the absolute max the s340 can take. also on the flip side..... whats your opinions on making it fit using brute force?

I have an NZXT S340, but I'm not so sure I like it. It's not a very quiet case, the side panel scratches really easily and already has several, very visible marks on it and I've only had it for a week and a half. One of the side panels also has a small chip on it, and I haven't even banged it against anything. I've been thinking about returning it and getting a bequiet! Silent Base 800. I wouldn't want a Define R5 because I don't really care for its aesthetic. Is it worth it? The price difference isn't really a big deal, but I'm just wondering if going through the hassle of returning it and reinstalling everything into a new case would be worth it, and if the Silent Base 800 would really be that much quieter than the S340.

Hi there, Finished building my PC about a month ago and i absolutely love it! The only thing that bothers me is the noise it makes. Therefore i am thinking about upgrading the fans to some Corsair SP120 Quiet Edition. I also thought about the Noctua NF-F12, but only if they are way better than the Corsair ones, because as many others i really hate the look of the Noctuas. So what difference should i be expecting from the stock fans to the SP120, and from the SP120 to the NF-F12. My PC: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/xcKn4D Thanks in advance!

Hello all, I'm going to be using NZXT's S340 (White) in my PC build and I am wondering what are the best fans to keep the system cool? -Will the 2 x 120mm included fans be sufficient? -What case fans do you recommend for good air cooling? -How many case fans should I use?
