Linus comments a lot on WAN show about having issues with showing web results in Windows 11 search. I agree that this is annoying and that it should be easily disabled. For those that want to spend the minor effort it CAN be disabled via a registry tweak. This does not solve the inconsistency/illogical way the search works, just removes web results. I have personally made this change and it does work. Link below. How to Disable Windows Web Search and Speed Up Your PC | Tom's Hardware (tomshardware.com) I hope y'all make use of it and save yourselves from bad Windows searches, LTT staff included

Hopefully someone can suggest me which open source repository management tool for docker registry that i can use for my organization. I need a docker registry with web portal that developers can easily access and manage their repositories/images, with reasonable security available. So far I have tried Portus, however the project are pretty much dead as no update on the project for a few years now. I'm not able setup it up successfully, Secure LDAP is not working and somehow the image pushed to the registry is not showing up in their web portal. I've also tried goharbor, everything works great but there is one small problem: The docker client that login to the goharbor registry will see the message below: WARNING! Your password will be stored unencrypted in /root/.docker/config.json. I've verified it and the file does store the credential unencrypted. Reading the tutorial in goharbor's web site a few round and i don't see a way to prevent this behavior. That's kind of a deal breaker for some developers because they do not like to store their credential unencrypted in the VM not under their direct control. I've also go through the route of implementing my own authentication service for open source docker registry, I have little success on that but writing the whole management tool from scratch seems not feasible at the moment. Appreciate if someone can give me suggestion on this. PS: I'd like to avoid paid docker registry service as my organization got screw over by a company who shall not be named, the standard money problem as you would've guessed, so I'm bound to self-hosted solution.

Hey guys, first of all - I know there were threads about this problem already, on many forums, but most of them are either old or dead ends so I've no choice but to explain my problem in a new thread. Issue: I keep getting audio distortions - crackling, popping, etc. - after around 1-1,5h of using my soundbar (Sonos Ray) with my PC via optical cable (Aorus X570 Pro MOBO). I've managed to track down what's causing said problem, that being high DPC/ISR latencies - main culprits are: HDAudBus.sys, wdf0100.sys and dxgkrnl.sys Latency with those 3 tends to spike up to 10000, but it's slowly creeping up, it's not sudden - highest latency starts at ~150 (with average of ~10-50) and steadily increases over time to 1200 then spikes to 10000. The distortion seems to be happening only when I play a YouTube video for example, and is exaggerated when I move my cursor on said video. However, if the video plays in a separate tab and I have second one open with Google search for example, the distortion suddenly disappears. Same if a video is playing in the background and I'm on desktop. What I've tried: ~Updating all drivers, audio, chipset, GPU, etc. - no effect ~Updating Bios, twice with both Gigabyte recommended Bios version and the newest one - no effect ~Changing some Bios settings, including setting pcie from auto to Gen4 - no effect ~Changing power plan to high performance - no effect ~Changing various audio settings - no effect ~Using sfc /scannow, which fixed something, but unfortunately - no effect ~Only resetting my PC fixes the problem temporarily - turning the soundbar off/on does nothing, same with unplugging it ~During distortion changing source by streaming music from my phone provides clear sound, but switching back to PC as source the distortion is there again I've read that fTPM on Ryzen could lead to stutters, but I'm using W11 so I can't disable it. Also, May '22 Bios update supposedly was to fix that issues. It's not a speaker/soundbar related problem - it persisted when I connected Creative Stage V2 (3,5mm and USB connections), Samsung Q700B (optical) and now Sonos Ray (optical). However, I never had any problems with distortion, when I was using my old Fenda R50 (3,5mm connection) for 2+ years, even without latest audio drivers. Is there any way to fix this weird issue, besides reinstalling Windows? If that would even help... Should I consider getting internal sound card or something?

Hi I'll try to keep it short aand with as much information as possible. If you need mire info let me know. Windows 10 prox64 Pc crashes in windows logo screen. I have tried to reset/roll back but I cant beause I forgot my password because I have been using a pin instead. I've been trying to fix it with bootable usb but anything I try to do is stoped by my NVMe m.2 970 EVO plus 1tb been "read only". I've tried to remove it through a USB boot windows installer and opening cmd but cand do it I've tried using Attribute Changer 10.0 but doesn't work either. I've read that its because of the "hiberfile" created after a shutdown. The thing is that to remove it I need to fully shut down the PC wich I can't because I dont have acces to it. Is there any way I can remove the "read only" from my Nvme without having to format and reinstall windows?

I just did a clean install of Windows 10 on my Lenovo legion 5i notebook using the official Lenovo windows installer. I was planning to update to Windows 11 just after. But i will have to wait until Microsoft thinks i deserve the update through Windows update. While that i wanted to go ahead and do all my installations and customizations on the system. first, i wanted to run the standard script from privacy.sexy, with a few tweaks here and there. All i want to know is: Are there any threats to my system by running these scripts before an update? (Most of the snippets in the script are changes to the windows registry)

So I'm messing with windows 11 and trying to add stuff to the new item context menu (picture below) however if I try and add different file types it appears to break it completely, adding an option for .bat file removes the option for .txt and I can't find a way to get it back. Clearly something has changed with how this menu is handled on 11 however certain file types still work fine (like .bat (it adds the option for new .bat file but removes .txt), adding a ShellNew key under HKCR\batfile\ works as expected but adding that under txtfilelegacy and .txt doesn't work. Some other extensions like .ps1 don't work either... (picture is from my win10 machine where it works normally) Anyone figured out a way to add new filetypes in windows 11?

I prefer the layout of Ubuntu's Unity desktop, which I've mimicked on my Plasma desktop: On my work desktop and laptop, I have configured the taskbar to be positioned on the right side, which I truly enjoyed. I have no plans on upgrading to 11 until this is possible. So, is it possible with a registry hack to move the taskbar to the left or right sides? I don't care how much digging I have to go through. I never want to see the taskbar at the bottom ever.

docker config.json ? or create a secret from credentials in the chart ? Just wondering, since Ive been using simple config.json, as to create the config.json with base64, set it as environment variable in CI, use it to add it to the config.json of the runner in the gitlab-ci.yaml file, and deploy the project to the namespace with helm(of course add the needed yaml files into the templates) Is there a more elegant way of doing that ?

I've been using CCleaner for.. I honestly don't know how long for cleaning up temp files - I like it for that, never used the registry cleaner. I've been reading about it on the forums and have found some conflicting reports regarding it's safety, so this is why I am wondering if there are any better alternatives out there?

I have an infamous "Could not start mic pipeline" error in Nv Broadcast. I have used all the methods I found on the internet to mitigate this, but nothing worked. Almost a year has passed since the software was introduced, the oldest cases of the problem occurring were about six months ago and there is still no effective solution to this problem. I tried enabling Nvidia virtual devices in recording/playback tabs as it was described here (https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/1184778-rtx-voice-not-detecting-mic/?tab=comments#comment-13564805). It did not helped me, because Nvidia virtual devices do not appear there, or anywhere else. I tried to use workaround that was proposed here http://nouchikun.blog.jp/archives/7496112.html - did't work ether. A dosen of install\reinstall сycles, various combinations of actions that look more like tech voodoo stuff - nothing helped. So i decided to analize what happened myself. First: The application stopped working after I installed the vc_redist_x64 or vc_redist_x86 libraries and rebooted the system. I did all this to install Apache. Second: If the application is installed in my Device Manager I see this: It's in russian, but it says "Cannot verify the digital signature of the drivers required for this device. (Code 52) " Third: In registry i found this entry: It doesn't matter if the app is installed or not, this entry stays there and cannot be deleted no matter what I try. In my unprofessional opinion, this entry can mess up something when installing the application and therefore the system cannot check drivers, install / enable Nvidia virtual devices or whatever. I am not writing this to ask for help, because nobody seems to know what to do about this problem. Even Nvidia doesn't know. This is just additional information for those people who know much more than me, maybe it will help them find a solution. As usual, sorry for my broken english.

Top reasons why I wanna switch to Linux... Anyways, I updated my AMD GPU drivers, and audio just randomly stops working?... So I go back to old AMD drivers and nothing happens! (like I was expecting anything to happen) I tried uninstalling all sound drivers and letting Plug and Play do its magic, tried updating the drivers (didn't find any updates *what a shock*), tried Troubleshooter.. nothing (also what a shock). Here's some more detail. Google showed some stuff, but it was about keyboard not working which, if you know basic computer-ing, you know keyboard and sound isn't the same thing. (Using Windows 10 x64 English 20H2 (October Update) (2009)) Please any professional computer dude/ma'am/(whatever you prefer) help me with this? All my issues with Windows have started with Windows 10 (I'm sure it's not a coincidence) (Yes my speakers are plugged in and yes I've restarted 3412890123890 times) ===== Taskbar: Device Manager: Device Manager (High Definition Audio Device) Properties:

help HELP! My screen flashes after I edit the registry
justaguyhuh posted a topic in Troubleshooting
I loaded another user's registry file under HKEY_USERS and added a string value at HKEY_USERS\[User'sName]\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\StartupApproved\Run. The value was a path. And that file is a .bat which let the user log off. I thought it would make the user log off automaticlly when he logged in. When I tried to log in that account, it took a very long time to log in. Then most of the icons on the desktop couldn't show properly. Soon the screen went dark and then lit up again and looped. But my account was fine. I pressed WIN+L to quit and deleted the string value, the bat file and reboot the computer but that account was still broken. And I didn't make a back up. HELP! -
Lets start with the reason i might want to do something bizarre like that. I am deaf in my left ear from birth, this makes playing multiplayer games quite annoying since i cant hear anything that happens on my left side. to kinda fix this issue i use mono audio in the windows setting to make all the sound come from one side of the headphones. but i know there is a program called "SONIC RADAR", the thing is it installs only on supported ASUS ROG motherboards. i found in the registry the file that has the model of my motherboard and i want to try and change it, the question is, will changing it brick my computer? and if it wont will something like that even work to fool asus drivers?

Hi, have someone an alternative to the windows explorer? I don't know why but the explorer sucks. Everytime I want to search something it takes soo long (even with SSDs). And sometimes (mostly while transferring to much files) it crashes. I tried Linux and the speed is at least 4 times higher, it doesn't crash and it finds my data right away. I tried the program "search everything" and it finds all my data in a few seconds.. but it isn't unfortunately a all in one solutions. --- (I tried out some other "exlorer-things" like Tera-Copy but I think in the Background it is still the Windows explorer.. with crashes a some point, and is low, too.) ---- I would love to hear some alternatives from you. Maybe there's a fix or improvement for that. Even playing in the registry data would be a problem for me. Thanks.

Hey guys, I messed up. I got a software to repair my pc like delete junk files, defragment the disks, malware detection, driver updates etc. Though, when I restarted after this, it gave me a nice BSD. Error Code: Inaccessible Boot Drive I tried everything I could find without any success. A few notes: Registry backup /dir gave me 0 results and dism wouldnt do any /online commands I finally got my roommates laptop to get myself a win10 installation media but before I reset and lost files, I tried a fix from here It asked me to "load hive" in regedit under a "new key", edit some things to say 0, which it already was set to, then unload hive. After this, I restarted and it got worse, no more display, black screen only. Cant access anything and my fears are worsening. I should've hit reset. Any one with knowledge of these issues, please offer some advice. I may be in trouble here. I'll do the best I can to provide information based on my memory of the past 6 hours

Hello everyone, I've encountered a strange problem lately. You see, I fucking hate LEDS on my tech. I really, really hate how they look, and how they mess with the lighting of my room, which I will admit I am somewhat obsessive about keeping at a nice, pale-white light. Following, when I built my computer in late 2015, I noticed the blue indicator light on my wifi card, and promptly covered it with blu tak, never to be seen again. Problem solved! Problem not solved. 5 years on, and I've encountered a most peculiar issue. You see, the LED on my wifi card is starting to go. I have tested this thoroughly, as I initially suspected it to be an issue with some gunk getting caught in my fan and causing unwanted sounds, but found that to be false. After some trial and error, anything that requires an exchange of large amounts of data, such as loading a new webpage, downloading or uploading a file, etc, causes the indicator LED to flicker, and produce a chirping noise in time with its flickering. As you may have guessed from my hatred of LEDs, I'm very particular when it comes to my sensory experiences, and high pitched noises in irregular patterns fucking destroy me. So, I am looking to turn off the LED permanently. However, there is no software solution pre-made for this, and after some snooping in regedit, I have found 8 registries for my wifi card related to its LED functions. I feel that I am close to a solution, but do not have any clue as to how to edit these registries to achieve my desired results. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you. I have attached an image of the registries and included the relevant file path below Pathway: Computer -> HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SYSTEM -> CurrentControlSet -> Control -> Class -> {4D36E972-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} -> 0007

windows Rolling back on an OS installation Windows Server 2003
harry-nchagwa posted a topic in Windows
Good day, Any information that may assist will highly be appreciated. I had a Windows Server 2003 installation on a device which was mistakenly upgraded to Windows 10 with the Custom Installation which overwrites all the presets, programs and data. Data Recovery software have worked well in previous situations but I have never tested for situations such as this one. My question; is there any procedure or software that may help reinstate the previous OS with the software and data that was initially available? Note that the previous setup lacked any backups or restoration configurations whatsoever. Please advise... Warm regards, Haron Mumuli. -
I would love nothing more in this world to mod an up and coming build to throw up a splash page of my choosing when the wrong password is entered too many times in windows. I know that changing registry values allows you to alter things like the default background and startup/login sound in previous versions of windows. Would it be possible to do this sort of thing or possibly link an event trigger to the brute force protection? Google fu has been failing me in my research when I look for this sort of thing because of all the people googling "How to brute force". Would love any incite into this or links to articles!

Hey all first post, So I do some torenting one night on my custom win 10 pro PC and I'm guessing my system restarted for some reason. After that my wan adapter stopped working. I tried an old adapter I had and that didn't work either. I tried all the common stuff, adjusting the adapter settings, uninstalling the drivers and restarting. My access point works fine too. I just installed Windows on another drive and now it works. I read online it could be a registry issue, any chance I can fix it? I can start over on a new I installation I just really don't want to...

Hi! Its been a hot minute since i've been active on here but since i remember it to have been so helpfull last time, i thought i'll try again! So here's my situation: My boot-SSD crapped out on me and i cant use it as a boot-drive anymore. So i thought i'd put said SSD in my new PC as a secondary SSD. On my now main SSD i have win10 and on the crapped one i had another instance of win10 aswell. Now, i have a lot of programs and data on the old SSD that i cant just re-install on my new SSD bc then some of the data would be lost (music projects etc). Smart little me thought why not just run the exe on my old SSD and see if the program runs? And surprisingly enough with steam that worked very well. It said the first time that it couldnt run properly because some data was missing (.dll stuff mainly) and it repaired itself and now it works like a charm. I didnt have as much luck with other applications like itunes, cubase etc. Those just showed the error but they didnt repair themself. Now how can i make it that those registry-entries go onto my main boot-drive so that i can run those programs properly again? I guess it cant be too hard since steam did it itself in like 2 seconds^^ btw my old SSD is now D: my new one is C: and the storage drive is F: i'm running win10 home, an HP compaq elite 8300 i7-3770 and yeah.... Thanks 4 helping!

Hi Linus, Hope you doing great, We watched your hacked Nvidia driver video based on the P106 and ordered that. After arriving I just had the ivy bridge I5 3470 processor with Intel Motherboard to work with and tried all sorts of installation process which are Russian, American Also But Could not get this working and found out its not gonna work with IVY Bridge Processors. BUT WE EVENTUALLY STARTED PUBG and THIS IS ONLY GAME WHICH USES THE P106 WITH FULL POTENTIAL FOR SOME REASON DON't Know WHY Its working perfectly. EVEN if I remove the Intel HD GRAPhics And with the standalone P106 Display Driver It runs with full potential and Tried different methods hoping to get other games to be working but our luck is not with us. Since I'm Managed to check some windows debugging tools to check the game process using which REGistry Key to initiate the P106 Driver and Tweaked some Registry Keys. Still its not working. Could YOU PLEAse test this with IVY Bridge to test and FIGURE's out the solution for THIS . Its a humble request IF you can Help us and save our lives LOL. I Mean you really a true hero of Modern Technologies. Here is the link of the tool that I used to Check the Registry keys and process tree of the Game running https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/ and download the Process Monitor which is called Procmon.exe and please Try to get this working on IVY bridge. I will really appreciate this. Best Regards, Man of the Year

-Bought and Installed paragon software HFS+ -Stopped working after the second day, just gave me error messages saying It restarted with errors. -Tried uninstalling and got an error 'Service 'apmwinsrv' could not be stopped. Verify you have sufficient privileges. -Tried multiple ways of trying to seeing if I could verify it somehow and nothing worked. So I resorted to just getting rid of the software. -Watched a video "how to uninstall programs in safe mode" and followed directions. Somehow I think it made it worse. - It doesn't stop to give the message midway through the uninstallation process anymore. It just speeds through everything super fast and nothing changes. The program is still on my computer. Update: It still pauses, but now it says sometimes that I need to be an administrator to uninstall.

I tried a lot of different methods but only the on down below worked (don't worry i have compiled it to a file for you) note: you might need to restart explorer.exe for the change to take effect, to do so run this in cmd ' taskkill /f /im explorer.exe & start explorer.exe ' (without quotes) ENJOY! for anyone that wants to see how to do it for himself or even if you wanted to make your own version for any filetype https://superuser.com/a/1284919/937438
