I recently got into folding about 3 days ago, and I've had non-stop problems with my R9 270X. It always has 8+ days left on it's work load, and that doesn't change even while letting it run over night. My CPU is folding perfectly fine, and has already finished quite a few work loads. I've been using MSI Afterburner to check it's usage, and it's never gone above 4% GPU usage. At first, I was trying to use the 270X as a card just for folding while I used my 780 to do everything else I do on my computer, but nothing could seem to get the 270X to want to fold. (Note: I have all the latest drivers for it, (Version 9.14.10.01128), so that can't be an issue, can it?) To test if the card actually was working, I lunched bitminter to let it mine for a bit to see if that got it's GPU usage up, and I did. right after I clicked start, the usage Shot up to 100% After this, I decided to just take the 780 out to see if that was the issue. Nope... With just the 270X in, it still wont fold. Deciding to finally give up, I'm asking you guys. Does the 270X have an issue with folding? Do I need a certan driver version? Or is there some settings I need to change to get this card to co-operate? Anything helps. Thanks In advance

I've been looking at a new fury x to crossfire with my 280x and i have been looking around some sores say that they have to be the same series like r7 and r9 which means it would be possible but then some sources say they have to be the same GPU which isn't possible because the fury x is Fiji but the 280x is like Tonga so I'm lost plz help.

I don't know if any of you have bought an R9 Nano yet, if so I'd be interested in knowing whether or not your card exhibits coil whine. All the big reviewers are reporting extreme coil whine, but I've heard from multiple people that the retail versions no longer have this problem. Anyone able to speak from experience here?

Hi, guys! I'm a newbie to the PC master race , and I'm not entirely sure if this is an issue at all, or just the way is meant to run in my pc. The problem is that whenever I play Skyrim, and a go to a city/town, my FPS drops from 65/80 to 40/30 all of the sudden, this only happens from a high point of view. I'm running Vanilla at ultra with FXAA x4 @1080p My specs: FX6300 @stock AMD R9 280 Direct CU II @stock 8GB Ram Hyperx @1600 Windows 10 running from an HDD seagate barracuda 1TB Is this an issue or just my PC letting me down?

Hey everyone! So, I'll get straight to it. I'm looking into getting an ultrawide monitor, the LG 29UM57-P. It looks great for my needs, but I have one question: how well do you think my R9 390 will handle 2560x1080? I play Battlefront, Euro Truck Sim, Besiege, BeamNG.Drive and Elite: Dangerous. It's supposed to be just 30% more pixels than 1080p (what I currently game on) so I just want other opinions as to how well my existing GPU will run these games at this res at 2560x1080. Also: to those with ultrawides: how do you feel about them? I game and work at about a 70-30 ratio, how well does it work for games (immersion, etc.) and productivity (two big windows side by side, etc.)? Thanks guys!

I'm trying to decide on a GPU for a gaming and editing build, I have around £250-£300 to spend on a GPU that will clock at decent speeds and be able to edit a fair bit also. I mean, Nvidia has the games like Metal Gear when you buy their cards; on the other hand, AMD has Dirt Rally... So I want the best GPU that will suit my needs without breaking the bank. It also has to have 3 or more Display Ports for my 144Hz Monitors... Thanks for the help -Croum

Hey, I'm doing my first PC Build and I am wondering if I should put a GTX 970, or an R9 390 in it. I keep getting told the R9 390 is better, but I am never getting any solid reasoning behind it. Here is a link to my build http://pcpartpicker.com/p/LF2DWZ Thanks!

Hi there, Before I start my question, here's my current build: -XFX FX-777A-ZNF4 Radeon HD 7000 Series; AMD; Radeon HD 7770; 1000 MHz; CrossFire; 2048 x 1536 pixels; 2560 x 1600 pixels (FX-777A-ZNF4) -Intel Core i7 i7-4790K CPU (Quad Core 4GHz, Socket H3 LGA-1150) -Asrock Z97M ANNIVERSARY MATX Motherboard Socket 1150 (Intel Z97, 4x DDR3, 4x SATA III) -HyperX FURY Series 8GB (2x 4GB) DDR3 1866MHz CL10 DIMM Memory Module Kit - Black -EVGA 500B 500W 80+ BRONZE PC Power Supply -LiteOn IHAS124-04 24x SATA Half Height Internal DVDRW Drive -Seagate Barracuda 3.5 inch 500GB 7200 RPM 16MB 6GB/S Internal SATA Drive -Fractal Design Core 1000 Series Micro ATX Case As you can probably tell, my PC is severely bottlenecked, with my GPU not being up-to-date with my CPU. I'm thinking o upgrading my current GPU to a new, more modern graphics card, but I don't know which one to get. I was thinking about getting the GTX 970 (probably the G1 Gaming, or the EVGA SSC), but recently, people have told me that I'd be better off getting the r9 390, which would allegedly give me more performance, with its 8gb of VRAM, as opposed to the GTX 970's 4gb (3.5gb actually ). I have a very strict budget, with nothing over £300. I would preferably not spend any more than £250 though. I currently play games like GTA 5, The Witcher 3, Empire: Total War, Total War: Attila, Cities Skylines, War Thunder, Battlefield Hardline, and a couple of other medium-resource intensive games. I would like to get at least high settings on these games (if not ultra) at 1080p (single monitor), and get 60 fps. Lastly, I don't really want any fanboys or fangirls on here, arguing that AMD is superior, or Nvidia is superior. Both have their pros and cons, and I'd appreciate it if you'd state the advantages AND disadvantages for going with your chosen GPU. I will also probably not be overclocking any time soon (until I get better cooling, perhaps water-cooling), so a high stock speed would be preferable, as opposed to 'High overclock-ability'. Thanks to anyone who replies. Cheers!

I am looking at the GTX 970 and the R9 380. Which one should I get, or should I get something better. I am going to be playing games like Battlefront, The Witcher 3 and GTA5 and max settings. All help is appreciated, thank you.

Hey ladies and gents, For all of you R9 290x gaming 4g OC owners who thought you were SOl for fitting a waterblock on this ridiculously hot card I have great news. With a rotary tool and 10 minutes I was able to customize the block to fit my card. Load temps dropped 43 degrees..... Whoa... Did I just say that?!?! YUP, LOAD TEMPS WENT FROM 87 CELCIUS TO 43 CELCIUS FULL LOAD!!!! I'll add pictures when I get back to my desktop in an hour

I currently have 1 MSI Gaming 390x and I was looking into getting another one but I cant seem to find the crossfire pins? Can someone supply pictures of where the pins are? Thanks

Hello, I'm planning on tweaking my graphics card a bit. I want to achieve my card running as quiet and as cool as possible, therefore I thought about lowering the VDDC, therefore undervolting the gpu. Are there any dangers in lowering the VDDC, can I harm my card? I already googled a little bit, most people said there are no dangers, but I think here are competent people. I also want to optimize the fan curve. What do you recommend? Which curves do you use? I'm using Sapphire Trixx. Thanks, Martzel

Hello my fellow gamers. I am currently running a Crossfire setup with my ATI Radeon 5770 with an intel core i5 750 oc to 3.5 Ghz and was thinking about upgrading my gpu and cant seem to decide between the R9 280X 3Gb and GTX 960 4GB? The Memory Interface width and the VRAM is where i am having my doubts. The R9 has a 384 bit bus width with 3GB VRAM where as the 960 has a 128 bit bus width along with 4 GB VRAM. Is the memory interface width that important? or show i go purely depending on the much VRAM the cards have. I would really appreciate the support. Thanks in advance!

Hi guys I'm kind of new to this forum but I need some help I have got a Intel Core i7 6700K with 16gb DDR4 RAM and a Asus z-170a Motherboard. All I have left is the graphics cards, I love gaming but I do a lot of editing on my pc is well I have 1 R9 280 already and im not sure if i should get another 2 I have the money I just need to get the right one I am happy to get rid of my R9 280 and give it to my brother but would it be better for me to buy another 2. I have been looking at AMDs new R9 300 series of cards for a cupple of months now and with christmas coming up I need to make a choice I don't like NVIDIA they just don't appeal to me what so ever. I like the look of the R9 380s I was thinking of getting 2 but would it be better for me to get one R9 390 and then have the room to upgrade in the feautre or do I just go for the crossfire setup. Lots of people have been saying on different websites and videos that you should go for the better card and leave yourself room to expand, but would it be better to pair with what i have?? Help please guys I need a decision by Thursday this week!! Thanks Olly

I think I remember reading something or seeing a video about being able to change the way your current graphics card looks simply by changing out the body/shell of it with one that is compatible with the GPU. I have a Sapphire R9 290 tri-x yellow exteriored GPU that doesn't match the best with my red/black/white set up. I'm just trying to see if it's possible to somehow get it to look red without having to risk painting it, although i'm not completely against the idea of painting it myself. I just wouldn't know which type of paint is safe or best to use anyone know if there are any replacement bodys/shells for this GPU? I had no luck looking around myself. If anything, which type of paint should I just to paint the exterior? Thanks

Would me getting a GTX 750 Ti be an upgrade? I currently have a R9 270x in my system and its not doing so well, my friend recently got a GTX 750 Ti, and he said its great and he runs MGS5 on it no problem. So i was wondering if that would be an upgrade? Or do you think it would more benefit my HTPC running AMD A10-7850k?

My main objective here is to be cheapest possible while getting the most gaming performance out of $820. I haven't used part picker before and I am a avid Amazon user with prime - I generally prefer buying all parts on Amazon for free 2 day shipping. My plan includes buying an Asus M32CD (pre-built) $440, 725w PSU $45, R9 390 $320, and a 92mm fan $15. I know what you're thinking with opting for a prebuilt but my reasoning includes the facts that it comes with decent cpu, hdd, free 2 day shipping and w10 OS. My planned spec-list (All on Amazon): $320 Sapphire 11244-01-20G Radeon Nitro R9 390 8gb GDDR5 $45 Sentey Xplus Power Supply 725 watt $15 Fractal Design Silent Series R2 92mm fan $440 M32CD Desktop (prebuilt): i5-6400 3.3ghz oc 8gb ddr3, 1tb 7200rpm windows 10 Asus case w/ decent layout (upgradable space) Asus H110-I/M32CD4/DP-MB Motherboard TOTAL: $820 + Free 2-Day shipping *Is this a good plan considering that I do not have any real pc building experience, I want to stay with Amazon (for free 2 day shipping), and I want a high performance gaming pc? Will the mobo and or i5-6400 bottleneck my gaming significantly? Games I want to play range from good cinematics like Tomb Raider or Batman to games like Rust and DayZ on high-max settings. In addition to my purchases I have a few old spare parts lying around: i7-870 (quad-core and w/ hyperthreading) Crucial 250gb ssd 2x8gb Kingston HyperX Genesis DDR3 8gb Unfortunately, I am not sure if these spare parts still work, for they were sitting in a cheap ziplock bag, in a box, in our guest room (went through two moves). Another big question is that the Asus Prebuilt is also available in i3-4170 Dual-core 3.7ghz with no indication of a mobo change and for almost $100 less - so should I go with that instead then replace the i3 with my i7 (working presumably)? The problem is that I don't want to be stuck with an i3 if my i7 cpu does not work. I am obviously a noob still so I need all the help I can get before I drop $800+ on a desktop. Thank you in advance for your help!

I am looking at upgrading my graphics card to either a 390 or a gtx 970. Which one should I choose? According to YouTube benchmarks they are about equal or the 390 pulls ahead a little. GPU Boss has some good data on each card and it seems the 390 is the better card but is that true? Should I get a 390 or 970?

I am currently looking at upgrading my graphics card from a R9 270 to a R9 390 or a GTX 970. I have a 500w power supply right now running fine but if I put in a 390 I'm afraid it'll go over the limit and I do not want to upgrade the power supply. If that is the case then I will get a 970 which according to YouTube, is not as good as the 390. Will a 500w power supply be sufficient for gaming on a 390 or do I need more power???

Whenever I use my PC to play "heavy" games(BF4, Skyforge, etc., also Who's Your Daddy for some reason), it works for a couple of minutes and then just crahses my computer and it comes back on with no BSOD. I checked my temps, everything looks fine. I'll post CPU-Z screenshots to eliminate questions about specs. CPU: GPU(clocks look a bit weird...): RAM: MoBo: Any ideas(will post clock speeds when gaming)?

Hello LTT Community, I've recently have encountered an issue with my amd build that when i turn it on it displays onto the monitor but the monitor gives a message saying "Input is not supported). I've reinstalled the 16.1.1 drivers using another monitor ( i use this monitor for my gaming pc so i can't use it for the amd build) that the computer posts with, didn't want to work with the old monitor. Reinstalled the stable 15.1 crimson drivers, that did not work, reinstalled windows and 16.1.1 and 15.1 drivers that did not work. So im out of ideas. What could it be?

So I'm wanting a 980ti, and have $350, but to get the other $300 I would have to sell my R9 290. What do you think I can get for it? xfx 290 DD with a white Kraken G10 and Corsair H110 with two Noctuas. Highest overclock is 1140. What do you think I could get for it?
