Hi all, I have an R9 280 (Non X Version) in my rig right now, and I may be able to get three GTX 680s for $100 USD. Should I buy these? They're all Gigabyte 4 gb models.

I have been looking at the R9 280, R9 280x, R9 285, and GTX 960 cards for awhile and all are around $200 and have around the same performance. Which one should I buy? And also which brand should I buy?

Basically 750 Ti vs 960 vs r9 280x vs r7 260x vs R9 270x Some "variables" Heat may be an issue as my case has garbage-tier cooling (I assume it has crap tier cooling, my pc is pre-built and it's not really advertised as a gaming pc, more of a family computer) PSU: I'll probably pick a 500W or 600W PSU depending on which GPU i'll get Brand of GPU (EVGA,Palit, etc): i'll probably pick whatever's cheap, whatever has 2 fans, or whatever has the phrase "better cooling" on it since I don't really know what i'm doing Resolution: 1600x900 ( yes i'm a filthy peasant ) I have another monitor lying around which is 1920x1080, not sure if i'll be using it, it has VGA/HDMI but no DVI sadly Here's what I know or at least what I think I know Team red: Better performance, more heat, more power usage Team green: less heat, less power usage, (cheaper i think???), also it's more popular in my country I think (haven't really seen much of team red) Edit: Added R9 270x

Hey guys, I am planning to buy Sapphire Radeon R9 280X Vapor-x Tri-x Edition card but I am not sure about my PSU. I have a Thermaltake Litepower Non-Modular PSU (w0355) and I am not sure if it will be enough. In the specs of the card, it says that 750W is required to run single card. And, let's assume it isn't enough, but I still tried to use it, will it burn all other components as well, or will only PSU itself die? Edit: I have Intel i7 4770 non k CPU and HyperX Fury Blue 1x8 GB RAM and MSI H81M-P33 motherboard.

Hey guys, This is my first time building a PC and I wanted to check if there is anything wrong with my build The reason I went with crossfire is because I found 2 Used r9 280x which is cheaper than one r9 290x Specs: case: Corsair Carbide SPEC-01 Fans: 3x Cooler Master SickleFlow Red LED CPU: core i5 4690 CPU cooler: Cooler Master Hyper TX3 GPU: Radeon r9 280x in crossfire Motherboard: MSI Z97-G43 (is it good for crossfire?) PSU: corsair CX850M 850w RAM: corsair vengeance 2x4/1600mhz (8GB) Hard drive: western digital 1TB will there be good airflow with this build? Should I just pay a little extra money and get r9 290x? Anything you guys think I should do?

Hey guys, The other day when I was playing Battlefield 3, I received an error pop up again - Driver Failed to Respond but has Recovered, and the screen froze and BF3 crashed, and just today I received an error similar to the previous one stating: Application has been blocked from accessing graphics card hardware and thus freezing and crashing the game. This error seems to occur on any game, and even sometimes when i'm merely browsing YouTube. It mustn't be my Graphics Card because I only just bought it a few days ago, and this error has been happening for awhile now... I really need help! I did some research and apparently it can be caused by the MB or faulty RAM. Could you guys possibly give me your suggestions and any solutions to this error please? Thanks in advance, John P.S. I have already tried uninstalling and re-installing my graphics drivers and as well as re-installing all of Windows 8.1.

Hello, I have recently been looking into downgrading my GPU from a 290 to a lower tier card to make some money . I found a guy accepting to trade my R9 290 trix for his 280x dual x + 70€ , Am I the big looser in this ? Looking at ebay , 280x's go for ~135€ and 290's go for ~220€ Do you think 70€ is ok ? thanks

I am planning to buy Sapphire R9 280X vaporx trix card and I am not sure whether my PSU, (thermaltake litepower 600(w0355)) can handle it. Below are the full specs, any and all answers are appriciated. Specs: Intel i7 4770(non k @stock 3.4 GHz) HyperX Fury Blue @1600 MHz (stock) MSI H81M-P33 Intel stock CPU fan Thermaltake Litepower 600W (w0355) Thermaltake Pure 120mm LED fan (x2) Westerd Digital Blue 1TB HDD TSSTcorp Optical Drive(not sure about the model but don't think it affects much) Crappy USB keyboard and mouse Logitech G430 7.1 Surround A cheap fan controller incoming I think I wrote evereything that takes power through the PSU in here. What do you think an estimated wattage of this system at full load, and do you think r9 280x will run on this system?

I realise this is again a huge wall of text, sorry for the inconvenience. TL;DR Win7 SP1; BIOS F5/SMBIOS 2.7 Happens with HDD and SSD/headphones and earphones Moved pretty much everything and tried almost all possible configurations with RAM and USB devices ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Hi all, so I've already made a thread about this, but it seems it was just too long to read. Anyquais, I'm back here asking for help about this problem, and I think the motherboard is to blame. So just a few weeks ago when I was using my headset (HyperX Cloud), one day there was a noticeable buzzing and crackling sound, with random pops. I instantly thought my headset was to blame, but after a huge amount of troubleshooting over several weeks I'm lead to believe that it is actually associated with my motherboard. Btw, my whole PC spec list is in my signature. I don't get any error messages and my BIOS version is F5, with the SMBIOS version being 2.7. The amount of times I've turned my PC off, changed something, and then tested it again to see if the audio issue is solve is as many as Pi has decimals. Used a different OS/drive. Different GPU, as well as using different PCI-E slots. Front panel and rear I/O. Moving the RAM modules from 1 [2] 3 [4] to [1] 2 [3] 4. Moving the whole PC out of the case. Removing and reseating the CPU as well as re-applying the CPU paste. With, and without the rear I/O shield. Updated every damn driver possible. I'm using Win7 SP1, and the issue was present before, and after updates with my SSD, and while I was using my HDD. I have not tried it without a GPU, simply because I'd rather not uninstall CCC, boot without GPU, test, and then re-install it again. I did notice that when I was testing to see if the other USB devices had anything to do with it, when I unplugged, or plugged one device in (like my mouse/keyboard/USB drive) the buzzing would change slightly. I'm not certain but I think that even the popping was more often when there was a large amount of devices connected to the front and rear panel I/O. Also, this problem is present with my earphones, almost identically, and when in the AW menu some times it has an added crackle with my monitor speakers other wise it's completely fine (only with monitor speakers). Another observation I have made is that in AW I get some sort of anomalies, sometimes it's just flashing/blinking lights from random objects, or shadows flashing on and off. Additionally I have seen some square part of the screen just go awol, with multiple other squares in it. It's hard to explain, but it is present while playing AW sometimes, and one time I could see it while using YT. I think that's about it, hopefully I can actually get some help this time, and eventually manage to fix this. Cheers!

What brand of R9 280x do I go for (overall might just go with cheapest one) what is the quietest or lowest temp best performance brand? (sapphire?)

Hi I have recently upgraded my GPU to an MSI R9 280X. I experience great performance in a lot of games, and not-so-great in a few others. The main problem is low GPU usage (40-60%) with low FPS, and stuttering. My CPU is not working hard either. The temps are fine on both the CPU and GPU, no throttling occurs. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The games affected: Far Cry 3, The Crew, Watch Dogs --->low FPS, low usage Prince of Persia 2008 --->constant 60 FPS with bad frametimes, serious stutter Interestingly they are all Ubisoft games. There is also Sleeping Dogs which runs fine but at certain points of the map, FPS, and GPU usage drops, but I assume it has something to do with optimization. However lots of other games run fine (Battlefield 4, Titanfall, Call of Duty Black Ops 2, Borderlands, etc) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- My PC specs: MSI R9 280X OC AMD FX 8350 at 4Ghz ASUS M5A99FX PRO R2.0 8 GB of DDR3 1866 Mhz in dual channel mode Crucial MX100 256 GB for boot drive WD Green 2TB for files and games Corsair CX750 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Is there a way to make them run better, increase FPS, decrease stutter? Any help appreciated.

Hello, Today I was wondering what all the fuss was about the R9 280x and was thinking the GTX 960 was an obvious choice. But I noticed there were simply TOO MANY people saying the R9 280x was better. So I decided to hit up GPUBoss, a website that compares the specifications of 2 different GPUs and tells you what the pros/cons are. This is my GPUBoss link: http://gpuboss.com/gpus/MSI-Radeon-R9-280X-vs-EVGA-GeForce-GTX-960 I chose the best GTX 960 and the best R9 280X I could fine, with reasonable choices of course (price, overall specs) My choice for the Nvidia GPU I picked the EVGA GTX 960 SuperSc ACX 2.0+ 2Gb GDDR5 My choice for the AMD GPU was the MSI Radeon R9 280X Gaming 3Gb GDDR5 Both these GPUs are fairly good and can probably perform at above fps on average on most games at 1080p. After watching many benchmark videos, I have seen that some R9 280x's were faster than others, and when looking at comparisons between the R9 280x and the GTX 960 are that the 960 DOES come out on top 90% of the time. My points are: The GTX 960 is cheaper, overall has higher performance and a lower power draw. The GTX 960 can achieve higher clock speeds The GTX 960 (even though it has 2 Gigabytes of Memory) can beat the R9 280x on the same games on Ultra. The 3Gb of the 280X won't always come in handy. If you watch this video: You will see the R9 280x comes out on top in a most benchmarks, HOWEVER, if you notice that Call of Duty Advanced Warfare has faster performance on the GTX 960

I am attempting to convince a friend that the R9 280x is better than either the GTX 760 or the GTX 960. What do you guys think is the best GPU for under $250? The rig will have: I7 4790k @4.0 GHz 16 GB RAM Primarily for gaming, some rendering and video editing.

I have a PC planned out, I'm at the final stages of editing the build, its a super tight budget of 1k including tax The place where I'm stuck is do I want fx 6300 with r9 290 or fx 8320 with r9 280x? Will the fx 6300 slow the r9 290 down or limit it in anyway? This is my first ever pc build so I dont know too much on which parts should go with what. Please dont recommend any parts that are more expensive than what I have because these builds are right at the edge of the budget The links to by build thoughts are http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/user/Ashifkillz/saved/24RH99 http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/user/Ashifkillz/saved/q8sscf Fortunately for the 280x build I am able to use a good card from gigabyte, their rev 3 of the windforce. As for the 290 build I can only use the cheaper Asus one, I heard it has heating problems for some people. A bit of thoughts on the Asus card would be nice too. The mobo seems to be okay for me, but could someone make sure that its a decent one? Thanks!

I have just brought a Mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort cable so that my monitor will run at 144 hertz rather that 120 hertz when running on HDMI. When I plugged in my Cable into my GPU (XFX R9 208X) and into my monitor (AOC G2460PQU) it wouldn't show what was on screen. can someone please help.

So my XFX R9 280X is overheating. In every demanding game that i've got, i have to lower the settings below normal, not because of frame rate, rather because temperatures begin to exceed 70C. Strangely, this issue never occurred when i was running an FX-6300 with a Gigabyte GA-970A-D3P. Thing is, i need some advice as to whether i have enough proof to get the GPU replaced at the store that i bought it from. They're normally quite good with warranties (and believe me, i have way too much experience with that...), but i'm worried that when i take the PC in and tell them that the GPU is overheating and leave it to them for testing, they might come back and tell me that nothing is wrong, and then i'll have to pay a fee, because they worked on it, and no fault was found. I've read about a large number of overheating issues with this GPU, and many also report that XFX aren't a particularly good brand for GPUs. Something else i'm concerned with is that part of the cooler is loose (as shown in image)

Hi guys, i found a really cheap sapphire r9 280x tri x OC, but i don't know if my psu will handle it It's http://www.coolermaster.com/powersupply/extreme/extreme-power-plus-600w/ I don't have anything fancy on the case.

Hey guys I'm doing soft of a budget build with and AMD-8320e processor and I found a great deal on a GTX 660. This guy can sell me his old EVGA GTX 660 (02G-P4-2662-KR) for $100. I was originally planning on buying a GTX 750 ti for $140. I am also watching some GTX 760s and r9 280x's (Radeon HD 7970) on ebay. They are all around $130-$150. What should I do?

I will be revamping my PC at the end of march (new case, mobo, sleeved cables) and I was wondering about getting a backplate for my 2 R9 280X's. I know EK do backplates for my specific model but can they be used as a standalone addon? or will have to have the entire block too? What Im saying is can I just buy the backplate and mount it on? Thanks in advance.

Sooo GTX 960 out for sale yesterday... And the R9 280x beat it out in a lot of game benchmarks... Is this because of new drivers or does the R9 280x really beat it out? Second, I am building a. Oculus DK2 build for a friend. Since the R9 280x has 3GB GDDR5, and the 960 has 2GB, would that affect its performance in VR? And which is the better card for the Oculus in general? I'm curious what the LTT forums think. Here are the two GPUs: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/asus-video-card-r9280xdc2t3gd5 http://pcpartpicker.com/part/gigabyte-video-card-gvn960g1gaming2gd

Is it still a really good GPU? Will it run most games with an i5 4690K at ultra and super high? I also do some video and picture editing
